I think that the pacing of the game has really effected cooperation. People can get separated very easily because everyone is so damn fast. And people scatter frequently because the enemy has such ease at pressing into your covered positions. Its seems like everything is happening too fast, and the game dissolves into a chaotic mess of everyone franticly moving about the map. Yeah. Almost every game has one player that loves to go out and jump around. Then there is always a second player who gets anxious for not getting to kill enemies first.. he ends up joining the first one. The two left people cannot hold the line on their own... so they end up going out there too. lol

Agree and the levels, when i play as a biotic I try and follow around other biotics so we can play off each other but as you say the fast paced, you have to move at all times thing filters people apart.

Honestly I'm not feeling any particular lack of cooperation in comparison to ME3MP. While combos aren't as prevalent this time (and in ME3 it was often easier to just do them on your own instead of trying to pull them off with a team anyway), there are still plenty of powers that enable you to help your team beyond basic team work. There's Barricade, Shield Boost, Assault Turret, Stealth Grid and numerous ways to disable and debuff enemies.
I think one of the main reasons why people don't focus more on teamwork is that PUG games (in both ME3MP and MEAMP) have (forcibly) taught them to be self-reliant and to never count on their team to pull their ass out of danger.
Unfortunately both games have some questionable design choices when it comes to cooperative play. One of them is that too often you're forced to choose between one power evolution that helps your team and one that helps yourself. This is just plain stupid. Few people want to risk being the first to go down in a fight, even if they could help the team more by taking that risk.
Another problem is that many effects are completely invisible. For example, if the game's description texts are to be believed (lol), Human Engineer can debuff five enemies with a single Overload so that they deal 30% less damage for the next 8 seconds. This is huge, but even so, it's still very unnoticeable at the same time. As Jacob said: "A good deed is like pissing yourself in dark pants. Warm feeling, but nobody notices."
On a positive note, there's less screen shake caused by your team mates. In ME3MP that was absolutely infuriating at times.

Never used them to help teammates, just to keep myself alive and to do moar damage myself. Aside from that, those characters/skills weren't in ME3MP until some MP-DLC got released - so be patient. Here I am thinking that a game released in 2017 would have already more content :^) silly me
