I love this type of necro. Didn't see this thread first go-round.

I have an irrational fear of wasps, to the point if I see one I must run away from it right away even if that means only way to go is across a busy road, my brain refuses to put risk of being hit by a car over it's fear of wasps.

I have never been stung by a wasp, ever, so it's not a learned fear.

Also crowds, but that's less a phobia and more a major anxiety issue.

Occasionally I have claustrophobia. It's not consistent but when I get it I have a hard time breathing. It's come at me while riding on the subway, especially if it's hot (Winter, with the heat turned way up) and crowded. I've at times had to exit the subway car and get back on when the next arrived.

Also sometimes comes when putting on a tie, where I feel like I'm being strangled. On extremely rare occasions I've had that feeling when tangled in blankets that covered my head.

Sounds like it's related to anxiety attacks to me but I'm no professional, I just have a lot of very similar inconsistent stuff directly caused by my anxiety.

Yeah, could be. Like I said, it's inconsistent. I have an aversion to taking any sort of medication that's not absolutely required, and even then I balk at times. I went years not taking anti-seizure meds until I got [metaphorically] slapped down and can't go without.

Yeah, I'm similar. I have prescribed anti-depressants but after being forced onto a medication for 6+ years that when I visited a new doctor got told "no.. No NO NO stop taking those, they cause permanent brain chemical problems if taken for more then a couple of years." and got the same response from 3 other GP's, I haven't trusted taking any medications for more then a few months if even that. Started getting anxiety that the same thing will happen again even though the ones I'm on now have to be super mild thanks to that one medicine I was on for far too long. Scares me that some other doctor will forget to tell me to stop taking them after a period of time thanks to that.

Sadly without at least something helping the chemicals int he brain to stabilise I am ultra emotionally unstable. The only consistent thing about me is my damned fear of wasps xDD

So far this particular anxiety (yeah, I think you're probably right with that assessment) is inconsistent and generally mild. It passes pretty quickly and only in very rare conditions do I have to temporarily remove myself (like the subway). In fact, I think it might have only happened once. Sometimes I can close my eyes and take deep breaths until it passes so that I don't have to exit.

When it comes to meds, I'm kind of on the conservative side. I can't judge anyone for their choices but boy do I have opinions.

Same! Though its more a fear of stinging insects in general. Still, every time I hear buzzing, my heart rate rises while I try to find the source.

Personally, I also have an irrational fear of zombies. Idk why, they just terrify me. I hate Halloween because of that. They are everywhere.

You may want to check your privilege and not assume the rational fears of snakes, heights, scorpio and wasps. One does not need to experience "events" caused by these to know they will damage your body momentarily or permanently.

Indeed the only true phobias are homophobia, islamophobia and transphobia. The rest are nonesense!

I simply said MY fear of wasps (not bees, or buzzes. just wasps) was not based on something my brain or body learned or experienced, and was just a complete irrational phobia.

A phobia is literally an extreme or irrational fear of something, regardless of the something, hence mine in regards to wasps is a true phobia.
