Is it just me or mass effect has a quite terrible history of bad to mediocre gay romance options? I find this image funny because i agree with it a lot, both Kaidan and Steve felt bland and boring, yet the Aliens squadmates, especially garrus would be such a great romance, i mean how many people thought "YES" during that moment in the citadel which he says "you arent going to propose now, are you?" And from what i heard Jaal was going to be bi based on the files but apparently the flirt option for male ryder is gone or something, similar to mass effect 1 gay kaidan option. What is with bioware and mass effect trying to avoid any sort of good gay romance? Do they believe the shooter fans will get triggered that much? Since Dragon age games seem to be more open to homo erotic relations which makes little sense lore wise since one is based on the middle ages and the other is based on the future and in space where such things such as homosexuality would have become a non issue.

Welcome xenophile fellow! Jaal biness status is yet to be confirmed, we are discussing it hereI don't know if we are being screwed again but I really liked Kaidan as my main and canon romance in the original trilogy, dunno mate, not only a xenophile myself

The problem it is that the game is still target at the bro gamers, so despite being in the future it still has that scent. And yes, unfortunately again gay gamers are getting the worse treatment.

We still don't know if Jaal is bi or not. It's on ongoing debate. There's no clear evidence for or against. We'll have to wait a little longer to find out.

I don't go looking for good gay romances in video games because
a. I prefer sex/romance with a real life person b. Most of the writers of these romances aren't gay in real life, so they don't understand and are winging it c. There is only so much "relationship" you can squeeze into 2 or 3 cutscenes.
The only thing that bothers me is if they want you to experience 3 romances across all playthroughs then only give you 1 or 2 gay male options that count.

Maybe there has been some consideration that if Ryder gets the men too the raucous fractious chants of Scott getting all the action will be amplified x2.

I'd argue that we're getting the best stuff Bioware has ever written, so I couldn't agree less.
And I'm not sure why some people keep using the perpetual victim "shooter gamerz h8 teh gays" angle, but it's getting pretty tiresome already.

Kaidan's romance with John is my favorite romance BioWare has ever done, so I disagree with the notion that gays are treated worse because we haven't had any alien options. I've never subcribed to the idea that alien characters are inherently more interesting than humans.
That said, we do have a history of getting the fewest options, so in that sense, I do think BioWare really needs to step it up. I think the way we've been treated this time is a huge step back.

I don't agree. There is quite a lot of things that I don't like about ME:A, but lack of gay romance options is not one of them. For me, romance with Kaidan in ME3 was one of the best things I've ever experienced in Bioware games. In ME:A we're getting Gil, probably Jaal and fling/light romance with Reyes, which doesn't feel as second-class treatment for me, especially considering both Gil and Reyes are quite hot (at least for me). I consider this as a significantly better than any Dragon Age game, where I romanced Zevran (eh) / Anders / Dorian just because there was no one else/better, rather than being genuinely attracted to them. Kaidan is so far the only guy I would actually love to date in real life.
So, I don't think it's fair to accuse Bioware of some anti-gay agenda, since they have given us more gay romance content than any other videogame developer. The romance choices might not match our preferences, but well, that's life. The important thing is, that they exist. I might not be so optimistic in other cases, but I find the ME:A gay options very appealing for me, so there is no reason to be upset about it.

Though it isn't realistic (I don't particularly play games for realism) I do think the romances should be open to both player genders. That way everyone gets the romances they want.

I personally prefer human romances way better than alien ones. And even with that said, I felt we gay men got the shaft on previous BW games (DA2 was the only exception in my opinion). I really like what I've seen about both Gil and Reyes so I'm actually pretty happy with what we're getting. Might change when I actually play the game but still. I'm happy to play a gay Scott this time. :3 I didn't even ever roll a gay male Inquisitor cause I didn't like any of the options there.

What I personally found lame is that both the straight options are *again* squadmates and the two gay options are *again* crew members. Not into Jaal so my gay Scott won't be able to travel around with his bf. :\

Kind of funny that the people who didn't like Dorian like Gil and/or Jaal and I don't like either but loved Dorian . Guess that at least keeps it fair among us M/M players, even if we are getting the short end of the stick overall.

While I personally loved and adored MShenko (it seriously drug my ass out of a bad spot in my life) and do not dig anthropomorphism in a romantic way, I definitely, hands down, thought it was a bit skewed that gay players, who paid for the same game, were not given alien options.
Again, here we are in ME:A with barely a confirmation of gay players getting Jaal. But that's still just... one alien. Still a bit weak, imo.
And that also leads me to put my laser focus on the fade to black scenes. It's beginning to sound like m/m romances, whether alien or not, will get fade to black while a large proportion of straight (male) players will get detailed romantic scenes with butts and boobs.
Really? Ytho.
Gay players deserve to have alien and human romances that are just as detailed as the rest. Curse me for wanting to see Brodie stark naked and on top of BroRyder, fine. But I ultimately fail to see why that's an issue for anyone. It's not like homophobic luggers will be romancing Brodie anyway to see it.

I'm waiting on more spoilers to decide if I'll buy but if we aren't treated respectfully I'm not buying the game. It's not like the 6-7 reviews are making me feel as though I'll miss out. I did watch a straight scene which was essentially softcore porn. I'll just shake my head if we get " fade to black.
