Never really felt connected to Shepard. It was the story and companions that kept me going. I think femshep is very well voiced though, if that counts for something. |

Yeah Mark Meer is a great voice actor but femshep came off more invested in what was going on and I think that is because of the amazing job Hale did. I don't wanna say Meer did a bad job though and I am not saying I liked femshep much more. It's an rpg so the main character isn't supposed to be the most interesting character and that's fine. I guess what i'm saying is, I don't have this love for Shepard that a lot of fans seem to. |

If you miss Shepard, you could always go back and play MET  That said, Ryder is a bit boring so far, like the Inquisitor. Let's see how the young whippersnapper does when given longer than 10 hours of play, though. |

I do have a great fondness for Shepard and the original trilogy overall (other than the last 10 minutes), but I also agree its a completed tale. I'm ready to move on. (He says, before flipping on ME3 to finish the Citadel DLC before MEA release drops...)

At this point what would Shepard have to accomplish that tops what he did in the original trilogy? People have need to get over their attachments to previous protagonists. I am actually excited to be playing as someone that is unproven and doesn't take themselves as seriously. I am not saying that Ryder will ever top or even replace what Shepard was but Ryder doesn't have to. Ryder will have a fresh perspective. I don't need to play as some grizzled soldier every single time.

The problems with this game have nothing to do with Shepard and everything to do with the Mass Effect IP being passed off to Bioware's C team, a studio which had never developed a full game.
