Ummmmm 16 You tempted to do another one soon? Good to see you back here cmoe Not back, just here for a bit. 16 is quite a bit. Still less than my number of DAI PTs though. I'm too hooked on SWTOR lately to play MEA. It will be a while getting through all the class stories. I thought I'd done well with 12 or more DAI PT's but I am nowhere near your level of PT's and hours. I had a look at SWTOR, it looks fun but there is just something that makes me hesitant to play it. Glad you are enjoying it so much.

Yay, I got play a bit again. Still driving around on Elaaden, exploring the area with Drack and Liam. Some fool EMP'ed the Nomad, then tried to get a ransom, because our squad was too much for him to kill. His own words, paraphrased. Lets just says he is a dead fool now. We discovered some remnant underground structures, and got some loot out of that. The second one was kind of bugged, with a door initially open-able, which supposedly should not open until a pillar control puzzle allowed access to another control for said door. The first one on the other hand now has a mission marker assigned to it, after I already cleared it. Got that from some devices scattered around at random remnant camps. I also found signs of some infectious disease at exile camps. Considering all those exiles are now dead, I don't think they can infect anyone else anymore. Though we still need to find the source of the infection. Drack also managed to break into Anneas office and found the location of an underground lake. I will need to take a look at that some time later, too.

So after a bit of a break from gaming due to illness and then getting hooked into reading The Expanse novels, jumped back into MEA today for a little while. Finished what I had to do on Havarl which was to talk to Evfra on The Tempest, talk to Addison from Havarl, visited Thaldyr, found the Fusion Mod o Adrenaline, scanned some large animals for the scientists and gave them a copy of The Roekaar data. Then headed back to The Nexus and was confronted by some protesters wanting their families out of stasis. Consulted with the leaders and told the protesters no go. Popped in The vortex to drop off some Hops and it looked like the Karaoke tried to work but the protesters were outside when I went in and their dialogue seemed to be interfering with it!!! Spoke to Kerri, got a copy of the movie library and then headed to Voeld. Picked up several missions after talking to Commander Do Xeel and headed off. Got hit by the Voeld is Cold glitch and struggled to kill the Kett you meet driving down the mountain in time, so logged off for the day and hopefully that will disappear tomorrow. Some pic's Flying is fun Landing on Voeld Stupid Cold glitch

I combed through the remainder of the starmap to achieve the 100% completionist run and finished my Felix Ryder's story. To mark the occasion I thought I'd give you the most memorable bits of my playthrough with the help of the following quote from Diana Wynne Jones, one of my favourite childhood authors: This book will prove playthrough has proved the following ten eight facts:
1. A Goon is a being who melts into the foreground and sticks there.
My Ryder was an infiltrator/operative. I enjoyed using tactical cloak to both get myself in the thick of things to whack things and also to escape the hot zones. 2. Pigs have wings, making them hard to catch. You'd think with all the Remnant units, Heleus wildlife, the kett, the Outcast, the Collective, and all the other rebels out to get you, the hardest one to scan wouldn't end up being one ****ing plant. I had serious difficulties finding the plant growing near an acid lake in Kadara and originally thought it had bugged out and ended up in the bottom of the lake. (At this point I didn't know the you would get rid of the acidity.) The funniest encounter was with a levitating wild adhi. I was in a watchtower in Kadara reading some Collective note when my sister who'd been watching me play started to laugh and the the next thing I know was that I was kicking this lizard to release my hand from its maws. For things like these, the PS4's video capture feature is a treasure. 3. All power corrupts, but we need electricity. When my Ryder found out that SAM was in fact an AI, his first thoughts were the realisation that his father had - in practise - created him an artificial younger sibling and then died before SAM had been taught a strong value system and what it means to be a human. Saddled with a "baby" AI, my Ryder - when making decisions - took into consideration that he was also teaching SAM about right and wrong. Felix let Sloane get killed and was privately worried what effect that might have on SAM's growth and how he should address the fact. With the revelations of their mom, Felix could really dub SAM as a "test-tube" savior sibling. 4. When an irresistible force meets an immovable object, the result is a family fight. My Ryder lied to his sister about the death of their dad. The resulting upset feelings were predictable, but he would do the same thing again and would want Sara to do the exact same thing to him.
5. Music does not always sooth the troubled beast.Felix saved Raeka and the civilians and the aftermath with Drack hit him hard. *Cue moping in the Pathfinder's quarters and listening Better Living DJs from the music terminal.*
7. The female of the species is more deadly than the male. In the quest Contagion, Ruth Becker with the deadly TH-314 disease ended up being killed. No idea if it'll come to bite me in my ass. As a side note: did anyone else think of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and "let's use grease made of pork and beef fat in biteable cartridges and give them to hindus and muslims" when meeting dr. Lekaaret in Voeld? She was the Angaran who advocated using the yevara to treat the kett weapon wounds. Thus the NPC in Eos who wasn't sure whether the children should be taught the Milky Way history induced a loud groan from me. 8. One black eye deserves another. Khi Tasira proved to be an exercise on how to die in many interesting ways: Ryder walked into acid and died, Ryder walked into 3 different Scourge tendrils and died. Then a fight with a Fiend glitched and Ryder died because he couldn't see in front of him. After completing the quest I realised I had forgotten the "nug in the vault" sudoku puzzle. *Sigh and reload.*
10. It pays to increase your word power. Even though Ryder couldn't always sway people with his words and did, as Sloane so eloquently put, "Fetch things" from time to time, his quality of life increased significantly with the discovery of the Particle Accelerator Weapon conbined with a vintage heat sink and a seeking plasma system. So a big thank-you to this thread for the tip. BONUS: “Learn to drive?" "Never," said Quentin. "My mission in life is to be a passenger.”
Felix Ryder, you fantastic idiot!

Hey sandwichtern nice recount of MEA. Khi Tisara can be a nightmare especially on the higher difficulty settings and I love your parking skills. That is my favourite Nomad paint job by the way.

Thanks dazk . I'm doing my nightmare run with Sara. She's a vanguard and has just arrived on Aya for the first time. Habitat 7 was rough since I wanted to complete all the extra objectives and at the Eos vault I was literally counting bullets to make it out of there alive, but other than that I haven't run into major problems. Here's hoping Sara will have easier time in Khi Tasira. Luckily so far nothing in Andromeda has stumped me permanently. As for the Nebula paint job, it really is very pretty, I used it for the first half of the game and when driving on the remains of the Turian goldenworld, H-047c. I also liked Hex, and Midas Touch looks absolutely gorgeous when viewed with the lighting in the Cargo Bay. With all the council races and quarians, the krogan, the kett, the angara, and the Remnant/Jardaan having their own paint jobs, I wonder what a drell or a volus paint job would look like? For the hanar I'm picturing a pastel-coloured Nomad covered with twinkling fairy lights.

That is a tough gig, I found the easiest way to do it was using the soldier profile and using Cloak, Turbocharge and Flak Cannon. Also I am currently using Infiltrator and using Incinerate/Energy Drain/Overload which I think will be a good Insantiy combination. Just need to change the difficulty. I also carried two modded Valkyries to try and avoid running out of bullets. They are both modded for auto-fire and with a dual mod slot augmentation and then as many Kinetic Coils as I can fit. FYI if you haven't equipped the Asari Sword or Krogan hammer you should and you can load those with Kinetic Coils that also contribute to your overall damage. Call Out: all this info was previously provided to me by Element Zero who can probably offer better suggestions in regards to build. I tend to swap the paint jobs depending on planet. EOS gets the Midas paint. Voeld gets Jex or the snow one, Kadara gets Nebula, H-047c gets Hex and Elaaden gets Bloodpack. Khi Tasira gets easier the more you do it, I rarely have any mishaps there now unless I am too busy sightseeing.

I was hoping there was a extra difficult mod out there. I find insanity a bit too easy. Not saying I’m flawless or never die but it’s rare and I almost never die multiple times unless I’m going for something stupid to challenge myself/cool points. DAI I suck at though. I’ll stick on normal.

Today I drove around some more on elaaden. Finally found all of the datapad, explosives, and corpses for those side missions. And I've seen something I would have never believed: Drack killed the Architect! Not by himself, of course. But his last shot was the killing blow, while I was covering from the architects gattling gun fire. In three playthroughts, this was the first time a squadmate killed one of those things!

I found my squadmates much more effective when I directed them (collective direction, not as individuals) at applicable weak spots on the architect. While it meant a constant redirection, it also meant they would focus on the leg I was working on and made things seem to go a lot faster. Of course, once we were left with the head, it was a no-brainer (ba dumm, tssss).
I think they might have provided the last shot a time or two (I vaguely recall something like that happening on Eos), but I wouldn't bet money on it. I found Drack and Cora the most effective in controlling the mobs. Other squadmates just didn't seem to be as effective.

I don't specifically remember Drack getting the kill shot on an architect or any other NPC either but Drack is definitely the grand master of stealing kill shots.

I started a MEA PT this evening. I decided on a Scott PT as Sentinel (Lance/Annihilation/Energy Drain). I’m honestly not too invested, so we’ll see if it lasts.

I know what you mean, I picked this PT up after a break while I played Odyssey and whilst its enjoyable once I get into it I am struggling through the talky talky bits.

Are you playing on Insanity? That is a tough gig, I found the easiest way to do it was using the soldier profile and using Cloak, Turbocharge and Flak Cannon. Also I am currently using Infiltrator and using Incinerate/Energy Drain/Overload which I think will be a good Insantiy combination. Just need to change the difficulty. I also carried two modded Valkyries to try and avoid running out of bullets. They are both modded for auto-fire and with a dual mod slot augmentation and then as many Kinetic Coils as I can fit. Khi Tasira gets easier the more you do it, I rarely have any mishaps there now unless I am too busy sightseeing. Thanks for the info. I need to try Flak Cannon. I had Turbocharge unlocked in my Felix run, but I ended up never using it: I started the game with Tactical Cloak, Overload, and Incinerate and finished it using Tactical Cloak, Zap and Incinerate. I've read people saying Valkyries are very good guns, but I think I tried them and didn't like their two-bullet firing rate. Looks like I need to look into how to mod them to have auto-fire. I guess it never occurred to me. Strike team missions always got me more guns than I knew what to do with, so I rarely bothered with crafting them. I digress now, but are there more than three pictures for the strike teams? I got the 'one human and two Turians' one, the 'Asari, Turian, and Salarian' one, and the one with three humans. I'm just curious whether or not I just got extremely unlucky with their avatar pictures since I ended up with FOUR teams with the same 'a human and two Turians' image. As for the DA:I, I'm gunning for the Platinum trophy, since I've never gotten one, and DA:I is one of the few games in my library that both makes me want to play it enough to get all trophies and also doesn't require me to play their multiplayer/buy all their extra bits to win one. With longer vs shorter fights, it helps that I tend to not have time to pay attention to my followers during short fights, so if a fight drags on, there's a bigger chance I get to experience all my followers' special skills. I also like the fact that the harder difficulties force me to think strategically or try different things and possibly teach me the most ideal way to complete a quest. On normal difficulty I tend to go on a 'tourist mode' and stick to what I know, without bothering with any new things or changing things up. So back to the matter at hand, Sara decided to head to Voeld from Aya and I spent the day driving around with Liam and Jaal, deploying forward stations, mining for Nomad upgrades, and just trying to gain more levels and money. The Nomad's map icon sure is handy, because even without a snow camouflage I sometimes can't find the car among the snow. The day's highlights: 1. I had never explored what's behind the Tempest and found three iridium nodes on an icy ledge. 2. During the Medical caches quest I had a chat with Yeda, a wounded escort for Angaran scientists. I think I did the quest in wrong order on my Felix run, because she never told him anything but that she'd get back safely on her own. 3. Unlike my more cautious Felix, Sara also sent the Scourge Gem back to Nexus. I didn't know you'd get an email for doing it! 4. I unlocked bunch of Biotic skills: Shockwave, Annihilation, Singularity and Lance. With Felix I never bothered with them, I dumped just enough points into them to unlock Barrier. After reorganising my favourites I tried Lance out with Cloak, Energy Drain and Charge and quite enjoyed myself. 5. Sara and team rescued Niilj and his cohorts. After dying a bunch of times I figured the right order of freeing prisoners. The fight also forced me to start using Disruptor Ammo which I'd been frugal with due to my limited funds. The "You've gotten the Vanguard Surprise trophy" notice also popped out during the fight.

sandwichtern I've gotten strike teams with 3 krogan and one with 3 turians in a group, and I could have sworn I had one with an asari, krogan and some other bloke but couldn't find them. But all my strike teams are different variations. So getting 3 of the same in a row seems to be just bad luck.

Once again I’ve been doing more playing than posting over the last few weeks, to the extent that I’ve finished the main story, including all the companion missions. (The only thing left in my journal is the Architect on Elaaden and a bunch of the miscellaneous tasks / collection quests – not sure if I’ll go back and do those or not). I’ll likely play again at least once, with a Sara Ryder this time, to try out the biotic abilities (I played Scott using the Engineer profile the entire game). I’m not sure how quickly I’ll get to it, though, as I want to do another Shepard trilogy playthrough first. Plus, I’m considering reading the Andromeda novels before I play again – the Sloane vs Reyes debate that one of my posts earlier in the thread seemed to instigate was interesting to read, and I’m more curious about what happened in the books as a result. Until then, I’ll be here reading everyone’s updates – it’ll be nice now that I don’t have to try and avoid spoilers

I don't specifically remember Drack getting the kill shot on an architect or any other NPC either but Drack is definitely the grand master of stealing kill shots. TBH, most of the time Drack got nothing on me: When he begins to swing his hammer, i'm always just that much faster with my own shotgun to the face method Even if most of the ricochet pellets miss. Dracks favourite response to that is: " GRuaaargh!" (Though that may also be the occasional blood rage kicking in....)
The Valkyrie (and the Hornet) with full auto or beam augment are brokenly overpowered. I never bothered with the weapons i got from strike teams or dead enemies. I always just deconstruct them, so i have more materials to craft my own better (or worse ) weapons.
As for the Strike teams, there are 10 different images in the game files:

Krrks is right in that they get brokenly overpowered. On my one and only soldier run I had a autofire bioconverter Valkyrie and I don’t think it took me 10 seconds to drop the remnant tiller destroyer++ on insanity. It usually is a fight for my life and takes minutes. That being said you can have a lot of non broken fun with weapon mod/crafting. Sidewinder pistol I like screwing with, the piranha is powerful but I’ve never made it brokenly so, the dhan can get broken but you can also just make it really good. Any of the guns that are already autofire are kind of hard to break imo. Make better sure but not make so good they break the game. I have a talent for making guns worse though. What’s cool in my head frequently ends up terrible in game. So a good thing to do is save before you hit the weapon table. Make/mod the gun go down to a planet and try it out a bit. If it sucks load and try again. Late game it’s not a huge deal but early game materials are a bitch to come by.

sandwichtern KrrKs and Ahglock are correct re the Valkyire being OP'd and yeah the Hornet with beam emitter is also overpowered but they are just so much fun using them!!!! Cover? Who needs cover!!! Yeah the Remnant Tiller destroyer is the benchmark of difficulty and with a modded Valkyrie and Turbocharge its lights out in either just under or just over one clip if I remember correctly.

Just wasted a lot of time on what I thought was a bug I'd never seen before. I placed the charges for Uncovering the Past, but they never went off. It turns out that they won't detonate unless you go to a particular spot, even though the mission text says just to clear the blast radius. Since I wasn't using quest markers, I never got to that spot and they never detonated. Grr....
I'm pretty much a nonfan of Voeld's design in general. All those camps scattered around, with bunches of missions that require you to hit several of them until you've collected a bunch of randomly dropping stuff. It's a cheap way to do OW design, but it really calls attention to how dopey the area design itself is. I don't think this sort of thing works well in areas with long sightlines. It's particularly bad when groups that are hostile to each other are nevertheless sitting within sight of each other, such as the yevara poachers and the nearby kett camps.

The first time I played the game I made the same mistake with "clearing the blast zone". I am on Voeld ATM for the umpteenth time and usually there is some drama with the random quests generating for me but this time I have visited between 15 to 20 of the various sites and not had one of those missions even start. These and the ones on Elaaden really drive me crazy, just put the bloody things there to find and be done with it. I love Voeld as a planet but you are right about the closeness of enemies etc. There are lot of little illogical things like that throughout the game that I'd hope had they not been rushing they would have thought about and fixed.

So spent a few hours on Voeld yesterday, still can't get the random quests to trigger but will return to the Tempest and see if that causes them to start popping. Spoke to a Kett car jacking Angaran, Cruised through the Kett base, always expect it to be harder than it is, found the historical records for Ari whatever his name is, stopped the Poachers, destroyed the ancient AI, found some looters and retrieved a map for the resistance and freed Nilj.
