This was just one of the reasons I found the Jaal romance to be awful. Probably the worst Bioware romance I've ever played. I won't even bother doing it with Scott since it was so unappealing as Sara.
I tried at least twice to complete that romance and backed out every time, just NO. I finished Jaal's romance with Sara, but it didn't feel quite right since she was a dorky introvert and Jaal's affection was somewhat overwhelming for her. I decided to try it again with my meathead Scott because his romance with Reyes was pretty enjoyable whereas my Sara had zero chemistry with Reyes. Maybe casual Scott is just more compatible with strong personalities?

I tried both Scott and Sara and its hard to put into words but I just found the dialogue and Jaal's OTT affection to be really off putting. As I said tried twice fully intending to go through it but by the time it came to commit I just couldn't do it. Huh Reyes swept my Sara off her feet without intending it to happen, thought I was just flirting but no!!!!! Revert to earlier save.

Alright. After a bit of a hiatus, I went back to my Andromeda PT with my slightly dumb military minded biotic god Scott Ryder. Finished up all outstanding quests before going to Khi Tassira (or whatever that station is called). - Drack's LM is kinda fun and has some really good music by the way. I just LOVE Vorn. He is proof that the Krogan can be cool without needing to be badasses all the time. Vorn is my favorite Krogan character of all time I think. Also, since Drack is my current Ryder's best buddy, it was just fun (and so was the bar fight on Kadara afterwords). - Went to H-047c (love the place, the asteroid atmosphere is great and I finally managed to get the "Hang Time" achievement (had to use my XBox One controller just for that). I let Avitus go his way (and met him again on Kadara). It's not a great move. He's way better off if you force him to become Pathfinder, I think. - Did Vetra's LM. it's kinda meh. Nothing really spectacular happens, it's kinda predictable how things play out and the whole overdone motherly big sister cliche never clicked with me. - Did everything else on H-047c, not much to tell there, though. - Did Jaal's LM, beautiful to see Havarl at dawn for a change. Shot Aksoul. Jaal was pissed for about 5 minutes. It really is a shame they didn't take this all the way and made Jaal leave the ship (which would then also increase tensions with the Angara or something) if you go against him twice (here and before when rescuing the Moshei). Instead, he argues with you once and then everything is back to normal. Lame. - Ok, Pebee's LM really pissed me off. I was pretty much done with everything else already but she just keeps sending me planet hopping. It's so annoying. You go to Kadara to get the last remanat piece, do one fight, than you have to take off, go somewhere else for her to send you an email to go back to Kadara Port for one fucking conversation, then you have to go to Elaaden for one more conversation, than you have to go somewhere else again for her to get her ass into gear and THEM you can finally go on her actual LM. Whoever designed this should have to write cringy romance dialogue for BW for a few years in punishment. Anyway, once I did get to go to her LM, I liked it. I think the visuals on that volcano planet are absolutely spectacular. The Magma looks absolutely great. Again, this makes me wish they had made Elaaden a volcano planet instead of yet another dessert. The mission itself is a bot weird though. Typical case of ludonarrative dissonance. Kalinda has her mercs actively trying to kill us for how long now? And still, Pebee acts like she is just that annoying person who used to be a friend and she can't really be mad at. It just doesn't fit together outside of the meta it's-just-a-videogame context, so I don't like it. Needless to say, my Ryder shot her. - Did the Truth or Trespass mission and my Ryder chose the intel. I know it's not necessarily reliable but if it's true, there are some astounding facts in there. For one thing, we learn more about the Kett but IMO more importantly, we also learn that the remnant are by no means just a Helios phenomenan (since ther is mention of another species elsewhere in Andromeda who are renowned remnant experts). I guess given the level of technology the Jardaan had it's not surprising they didn't just exist in one cluster but still, interesting implications for a future Andromeda game. - I declined the Primus' offer of an alliance. Drack said we don't need her and my Ryder agreed, we'll just do all the ass kicking ourselves. - Finished up all the other smaller side quests but nothing too spectacular there, just yet more planet hopping. Oh, I did go to Cora's guarden site on Eos and started the romance but apart from that first kiss, not much has happened yet. Alright, with all that out of the way, I was time for the fake Meridian station. Fun mission over all. Once you activated the towers and the visuals change to that bright white illumination, it looks pretty cool. I also found the secret chamber with the unknown lifeform this time around. Hm, weird but not really helpful. I did like the design of the maze that gets you to the towers, where you can find all sorts of stuff if you go exploring though (scannable items, some materials, etc.). Good level design. As expected, the Primus wasn't much of a problem to deal with, so I am glad I opted not to ally with her. One less Kett to deal with later on. That biotic build really is a bit OP for normal difficulty though. As well, at least it's fun to just annihilate everything with charges and novas. In any case, score one for the Initiative. Now I am back on the Tempest and hopefully I'll be able to finish this game within the week.
EDIT: RE: Jaal romance: I did his romance with Sarah on my first PT (because she was into aliens ). Yea, the dialoge is kinda weird but let's just say the final conclusion scene (which you can opt out of in dialogue, so there is that) was ... really weird.

You have to tilt the camera juuuuust right to get a good look at what is inside. However, finding it will allow you to find the "alien object" in the system once back on the ship.

Oh, and here I thought they were one and the same. Must have misunderstood something in the codex. Guess I am roleplaying my rather simple minded Ryder a little too well. Ok, so I guess then it'll remain interesting on that front. I forgot what happened last time (with Sarah in the last PT I made the deal). I also found the secret chamber with the unknown lifeform this time around. Hm, weird but not really helpful.

Alright! Finished my playthrough with Scott Ryder. A few final notes: - Even though I only had one mission left, I spent another 5 or 6 hours in the game, just wrapping up stuff (first before, than after the final mission). I do like that there is so much epilogue stuff in there, so many people who have special post-ending dialogue. I think that's great. After the ending, I spent 2 hours just talking to everyone, even though I had basically no quests left. More games should do this, it's a cool way to "wind down" after finishing the playthrough (though the planet hopping is still a hell of a time sink). - As for the final mission itself. I really really like it. It is absolutely spectacular from start to finish and IMO one of the best final missions that BioWare has ever created. First of all, I do like the plot development, where the Archon was basically using you, biding his time. This is exactly what makes him a much more effective villain than e.g. Coryphius was. He did have a plan that we didn't really see. The only plot hole here is that the Archon really should have taken out the Nexus when he snatched the Hyperion. Clearly he has the fleet to do it. Even the Primus shoudl be on board with that. The only reason I saw before as to why he didn't do it was because he didn't know where they are but clearly he does now. There are a bunch of possible head canon explanations for this though. The one I go with is two-fold: 1. The Kett do not want to kill too many initiative members because they want to keep them for exaltation later. Destroying the Nexus now would have "deleted" all that genetic material for them to harvest and 2. the Archon clearly is a very arrogant man who doesn't see Ryder or the Initiative as a threat at all. he makes this clear in almost every conversation you have with him. Thus, he saw no need to cripple the Nexus because it simply wasn't really an enemy to even think about much. So that's my explanation but it would have been good to spell some reasoning out in the game. Still. apart from this minor complaint, I thought the twist with the sibling (including the part where we get to play them for a bit) was very cool. They also managed to give the whole AI-in-the-head thing an extra creepy vibe by showing how dependent you had become on SAM. Visually, the final mission is a blast. A lot of games don't really do visual climaxes at the end anymore, probably because statistics seem to show that a lot of players never finish SP campaigns. That's a shame IMO. A proper story needs an exciting ending, both in the sense of plot and in production values. DA:I for example also kinda disappointed me there a little bit because it was basically a rehash of the very first level. The new Deus Ex Games could have had much more spectacular endings. Hell, even Witcher 3, which is a dam near perfect game IMO, had it's most spectacular scenes before the ending IMO. Even the old Trilogy games were hit and miss IMO, ME1 was brilliant, walking up the Citadel tower, ME2 was meh, just another Collector Base and Terminator baby, ME3 tried it's best but was mired down by the ridiculousness of the star kid and the fact that there was such a huge visual discrepancy between the in game scenes and the cinematic cutscenes IMO. But anyway, ME:A really manages to dial it up to eleven for the final mission. The Dyson sphere and the space battle look great. And the Nomad section in the sphere, with the Hyperion and the Archon's ship fighting it out above is one of the most spectacular sights I have seen in a video game to date. The actual final battle against the archon also happens in an environment the scale of which is kinda awe inspiring, just when you hover towards that control tower. As for the final battle itself, I don't really like boss fights, I rather like when a more difficult scenario is presented within what we've had before (I also really liked ME3's final stand at the missile trucks) and that is exactly what happens here. Tons of bots and an architect plus the hold out scenarios worked pretty well. Could have thrown a bunch of destroyers in there for higher difficulty (IMO those are among the most challenging enemies in game, especially if you have 2 or 3 of them at once) but hey, it works as is. I also like that we don't defeat the Archon by shooting him but by "outwitting" him, at least as far as the plot is concerned. The music - which I don't find that great in this game in general, certainly not when compared to the awesomeness of the trilogy - also manages to take it up a notch from the rest of the game. And again, the fact that we have a nice epilogue on the Hyperion/Meridian Port where we get to talk to everyone again is an added plus as well. So all in all, say what you want about the game, it's got more than its fair share of flaws but that final mission is a masterpiece in my book and should be held up as an example of how to end a game. Ok, so much for the ending. Here are a few more things: - I chose Bradley as ambassador. As a former Alliance officer and a fairly down-to-earth kinda guy, he seemed like a good choice for my rather military minded Ryder. Went back to Eos to listen to him complain about it of course. - There is a bug there though. When I went back to Aya, the Moshae talks like she got the ambassador position, even though back at Meridian Port she still was disappointed she didn't. - Also on Aya, I went ahead and tried to seduce the museum curator lady. Was surprised it worked next to the Cora romance. I didn't realize she was more like a fling/failed romance kinda thing. Thus, I also got that achievement in Origin. - Oh, and speaking of romance, obviously, before the final mission, I went through the Cora romance scene. Oh boy, didn't realize it would be so ... explicit. I thought the Sarah/Jaal romance scene was weird because he was so alien looking but I don't know, this was not much better. Pixel-People having sex on screen just never looked quite right IMO. The trilogy romance conclusions (at least the once I saw) were better IMO, in the sense that they showed less, making it a bit less cringy. Just my take on it. (And yes, I know you can opt out of the sex scene but come on, I took it this far and also you can bet my Ryder wouldn't have done that. Gotta keep RPing right, right? ). - Also did movie night before the final mission. Not quite as good as the "social" scenes in other BW games (the card game in Inquisition was better IMO and of course the Citadel party but that comparison might be a little unfair) but still, it was a nice little bonding moment for the crew and made all the melodramatic dialogue later on seem a little more genuine. - Went to see Kesh's healthy Krogan eggs. Good for them. - The hints at the quarian DLC: Ok, I know this is not going to be a popular opinion around here but I am kinda glad we never got that DLC. Not because I wouldn't have liked to get more Andromeda content (quite the opposite, I'd have liked some DLC) but because I think the idea of the quarian Ark is utter nonsense (just like almost every single aspect where Andromeda tries to connect with the old ME lore). How would the quarians, space gypsies who barely get by with their flotilla and are shunned everywhere in the MW get the resources and the political cred to build an ark? And if they did, why would they take on all those other species? And if it building that ark was a joint venture of all those races, why aren't the rich volus or the influential hanar the lead species on the project? This, yet again sounds like the writers wanting to force one of their how-cool-would-it-be ideas into the lore no matter if it fits or not (and it REALLY doesn't). So I can only imagine, if they made this DLC, I would have cringed through it until my teeth fell out. So no thanks, I am good without it and I hope that if they ever do continue the story, they concentrate on the good parts, like what is actually going on in Andromeda , what's up with the Remnant and how are we going to deal with the Kett from here on, maybe give us some new and cool Andromeda species, rather then the known MW ones and also how will our relationship with the Angara develop, etc. - Speaking of the Angara. They are one of my few complaints here at the ending because IMO they act much too tame. If I were the Angara leader, I would immediately demand to establish my own city on Meridian. Leaving such a powerful piece of technology in the hands of the Initiative/the humans and just sending a couple of people to help/observe wouldn't cut it for me. Especially because between having been in the cluster first and beeing creations (and thus one could interpret them as offspring) of the Jardaan, they could claim some sort of birthright. It should be the Angara that allow the humans to stay on Meridian, not the humans inviting the Angara there. Not to mention that Meridian would immediately solve their space problems on Aya, making the vassal rotations a non-issue. Yet, there barely seems to be any tension or even effort made on their part there, even though this time I didn't even choose the Moshae as ambassador (which my Sarah did in my last PT). The only instance that I can see where this point even comes up is the three guys in that debate circle on Aya and even them, you can shut down pretty easily. Ok, maybe they are all still high on the joint victory against the Kett but if there ever is an Andromeda 2, this is where I would take at least part of the story, some growing tension between the Initiative and the Angara, eventually also bringing up the question if we, the MW people can be seen just as friendly explorers of if that in and of itself entails some aspect of encroaching on another people or in the worst interpretation an invasion on their territory. Andromeda had (and still has) a chance to much less black and white there as it is now and it would make it much more interesting if they had picked up on that. - The final scene, I kept for the very end was the 100% viability Ryder-1 scene. I am glad I could do it this way this time around. During my first PT, which was before most of the patches were out, that scene could (and was in my case) triggered before the ending and it kinda spoiled the fact that Meridian would become a colony for me. Now, as a final scene, it is a really nice way to end the epilogue to the game. Alright, that's it. Sorry for this huge post but since this is the wrap-up of my playthrough and thus my last long post in this thread probably for a couple of years, I wanted to get all my thoughts on the game out there. All in all, my opinion on Andromeda hasn't really changed much. It's a solid 7 to 8ish game that is very flawed in some aspects but really didn't deserve the amount of hate that it got.

That was my experience as well in my first PT. What a horrible spoiler late in the game.
On subsequent PTs, some of my Ryders actually resent the whole idea of Ryder-1. They are angry that the place where their father died (supposedly) is now being held up as some sort of celebratory achievement and they are basically forced to go back to a planet they swore to themselves they'd never visit again.
I'm also not real comfortable with how SAM is able to keep this a secret, that the AI in Ryder's head actually takes orders from someone else in the AI? That is not a good situation, imo, and could very likely cause issues down the road.
I also don't understand how Cora can tell SAM to "go away during sexy times - here's the passcode" but Ryder apparently can't? That makes no sense.

I see your point on Ryder-1. Doubt the writers ever thought that far, though.
To play devil's ... uh, SAM's advocate for a minute though, we already know that SAM does have a mind of his own (he is a full fledged AI after all). I'd say, he might have gone along with keeping that info from Ryder not to ruin the surprise (again, given that the writers at BioWare never saw any negative connotation in that scene). At least, that was my take on it.
As for Cora, to be fair, she doesn't tell SAM to "go away". Her exact words are "Sam, can you turn off your logs for a while?". She does add "my authorization" but I don't take that to mean that Ryder doesn't have it. In the end, I'd say SAM is still there anyway, he just deliberately won't remember anything later.

I went back to MEA yesterday after a break of maybe half a year or so. It's my second PT, and my first with Scott. One of my goals this time was not to rush through Voeld. I did that the first time because I found navigating through the ice so tedious ... yeah, don't really know why. I really enjoyed Voeld this time, it's very pretty. That being said, now with the vault activated, it has a bit of a sickly greenish tinge to it. *g* What I am rushing through though are the vaults. It's always the same, so I just get it over with and leave. I can't quite remember who I planned to romance but I'm thinking it'll have to be Peebee. Even if I don't particularly like how human-like she's written, Scott and her look really cute together, and I guess it would be a good character match as well.

What I am rushing through though are the vaults. It's always the same, so I just get it over with and leave. That I did the 1st PT, but on second, I took some time to explore them. Theres some good loot and sometimes a puzzle, if one needs remnant parts, and also when running away, but I thought it was way too hard to get the stuff while the purge cloud is breathing to ones neck.

I really liked the vaults. Wish there were more of them.
If you just want to go through them, they are pretty straight forward but if you like, you can get extra stuff by solving puzzeles that are not always just super straight forward and actually di require you to explore the environment a little. I also like how you need to plan/prepare your escape before hitting the switch.
That's great game design as far as I am concerned.
I do agree that they could have had a little more variety, just visually but I do like the design of the remnant and thought they looked kinda cool. So all in all, the vaults were nicely done IMO.

Gotta keep RPing right, right? ). Totally agree with you re the whole final battle scene and set-up I really enjoyed it too. I played 16 times and chose the The Moshae everytime, wonder if the bug is because the dev's thought that's what everyone would do? My only other choice would have seriously been Kesh if she was an option and Morda as a joke!!!!!! I love Tann's reaction when you suggest that. I wish Avela Kjar could have been a proper romance like Jaal was and that it was available even in its current form to Sara as well as Scott. I didn't mind the Cora sec scene, I liked some of the dialogue but it seemed kind of out of character the way it was written and animated, a bit OTT for Cora's normal self-doubting personality. I thought PeeBee's was handled much better and had a nice throw back joke to how she introduces herself on EOS. AnDromedary re The Quarian Ark I take it you haven't read the book? I for one would have loved it as DLC but after reading the book (which is quite good if a bit slow at the start/ first 1/3) I am not sure how it could have been done as DLC unless you played as a particular other quarrian character other than their pathfinder. In terms of your other comments The Quarians weren't funding the Ark the Mysterious Benefactor and Jien Garson were and the Quarians are supposed to be the most tech savvy of the MW species aren't they, so who better to engineer the stasis pods for Elcor and Hanar etc. Also if I remember correctly the Quarian Ark or at least the addition of the other species was a late idea I think because of the imminent destruction by the Reapers and to try and save all the species by sending them to Andromeda not just the main species. Re the Angara, the game makes a fair effort I think after first contact to have Ryder establish trust with the Angara via various means (rescuing The Moshae etc.) and in passive background conversations there are some Angara who stick up for the MW species and some that openly are dissenting of trusting them due to in game actions. Re Meridian well it's pretty hard to argue with a ship with 20,000 people on board it entrenched there to make it a "solely" Angaran city. That is one reason though why I always make The Moshae the ambassador. One thing I think the game does poorly all the way through is establish the size of all the habitable environments on the planets including Meridian and Khi Tisara. The Initiative is only 100,000 strong, why would they bother trying to colonise multiple planets except based on the whole DNA difference issue with Quarians, Turians and the rest of the MW species. If they dedicated all their efforts into EOS and settled all 100,000 people there they could have built a small city and made it far more productive and safer much faster. It would also have put the Initiative in a far less threatening posture with the Angara. Sure they'd need outposts for resources but that's how they'd build trade with the Angara. Anyway my point is basically that the Initiative pretty much proved they can be trusted and the size of the population from The MW really shouldn't be a threat to The Angara. I also think in some of the terminals at the party at the end there are several examples of The Angara and Initiative working together on Meridian and other issues so its not like they don't have access to it. I would think the Angara would be far more interested in Khi Tisara than Meridian. I agree that the whole Ryder 1 thing needs to be the very last thing you do and I was lucky I played it that way first time. I think melbella raised how she didn't like SAM keeping a secret about that, I thought it was understandable and if SAM is "The Mysterious Benefactor" then he's VERY capable of being secretive!!!!

Thanks for your comments dazkNo, I haven't read any of the Andromeda books. But even if funded somehow by the Benefactor, I do find the idea of the quarians - a race who really struggles to get through the day and is really shunned by the other races - to build an arc and get everyone together rather preposterous. It just doesn't fit at all with how we got to know the quarians in the trilogy and in Ascension. But whatever, I guess a discussion about the DLC is pretty moot at this point anyway. As for the Angara and the Initiative: I agree that the story does a fairly decent job of explaining why the trust between the Angara (at least the ones we deal with directly) and the Initiative is established very quickly. One of my problems is actually that the story went in that direction in the first place and established "the good" and "the evil" aliens very clearly. I'd have found it much more interesting if there were much more shades of grey and if the Initiative itself - our own side - could have a really ugly underbelly to it (that is not the outlaws, again, black/white contrasting). The setting offered the perfect setup to make this story about the intertwining nature of exploration and colonialism. It was even already established in the beginning of the game how desperately we need fertile land as a matter of survival. IMO, it would have been so much more thought provoking to tell a story about our interactions with aliens that are not outright hostile but that also see us with a great deal of suspicion and that actually do lay claim to all the garden worlds in their cluster (as we do in the milky way as well for example, which is why the quarians never found another place to settle). Sure, right now, the Initiative is only about 10.000 people but their stated goal is to claim, colonize and grow. When push comes to shove, will we get violent to get what we need to survive? That would have been the really interesting question that was perfectly set up to be asked in this game and it wasn't in favor of a fairly clishee bad-guy race as a common enemy for us to fight. But now that that enemy is dealt with (at least temporarily) there is a chance again to take this kind of plot thread up and make it a thing in a potential Andormeda 2. That's what I'd like to see and IMo it could be easily accomplished just by writing in some political leadership change for the Angara and the question who gets to decide about Meridian's fate. Because Meridian is/should become a political problem. It reminds me of the Jaffa Temple in Stargate SG1 at the end of season 7 or so (?), where there is this weapon that can destroy all life in the galaxy that one faction has control over. In principle, everyone was allied against a common enemy (the Goa'uld) for a long time but when that threat is gone, that ultimate weapon in the hands of one faction becomes a real problem. In principle, the same should be the case for Meridian, which controls the fertility (and as the Archon has established is also capable of destroying) any garden world in the cluster (including Aya). Negotiations about how to divide up control over Meridian should be difficult and could provide a basis for a conflict (at least a diplomatic one) with very interesting plot points, if the authors so desire. Of course, the Kett are still around and would also play a role in an Andromeda 2 and then anything can still happen with the remnant or on the outposts but IMO, the thread of a conflict with the Angara would bring a whole new level of tension into a prospective future game. That's kinda all I want to say, that I hope if there ever is an Andromeda 2, they finally start to tap into that potential.

Thought I would post in this thread. I actually started this playthrough (will be my 4th completed one) a little while ago. I'm on Voeld now, but I like posting in these threads. My 1st playthrough was as a custom female Ryder who couldn't resist Reyes, and she was more logical/science minded. Next I rolled a casual male Ryder to romance Cora. My next Ryder was also male but a bit more level-headed than the last one to try and balance out Peebee's intensity, heh. This time I'm playing Sara Ryder (still customized her though, I hate playing the default look of any character if I can avoid it), and she is laidback and a bit sassy. Jaal has caught her attention. She absolutely loves everything about the Angara. At the moment, she has just finished setting up an outpost on Voeld and activated all the monoliths. Hasn't gone into the vault yet though. That's up next, and then it'll be time to return to Havarl and check in on the Nexus people there before heading on to some mysterious place called Kadara, where all the exiles ended up!

Something's been bugging me for a while. Every so often the interface for a new codex entry pops up, typically a note, journal entry, or some such, but there isn't a new one added.
Those items don't really fit the existing codex categories. Were they never written? Or are they there, but inaccessible?

I've been cleaning up assignments and tasks on Voeld the past little while trying to level up a bit before taking on the Voeld architect. I had a hillarious experience while doing the Strange Beacon encounter. It was my bad for not noticing that there was one remnant creeper hiding on the platform before I triggered the conversation with Holgar. As I was talking with her, the creeper crept up to Ryder and started attacking his leg. Holgar asked Ryder "Do you have a death wish." He replied that He didn't think so. She then told him he was standing in a kett minefield and she didn't know how he got in there without triggering any mines... and all the while the creeper is whittling away at his health. Just as Holgar says she doesn't know how he'll get out in one piece either, the edges of the screen go red and Ryder falls dead, no longer responding to the conversation. The last thing Holgar says is that she'll tell the resistance where to find his remains just before the Mission Failure screen comes up. The timing couldn't have been more perfect. I was laughing so hard I could barely hit the reload to start the encounter over again. The creeper got one quick bullet between the eyes the second time around.

I had a similar thing happen to me during my DA:I playthrough last year but there, during convos characters are apparently invincible, so no luck for those devious foes.

Yeah, when the creeper started attacking, I remember thinking that it wouldn't be a problem because he was probably invincible as long as the conversation was ongoing. I was even more surprised when Holgar just kept talking after Ryder stopped responding. I just wish I had a clip of it.

After clearing their hideout, Bradley comes on the line. The little creepers just keep attacking until you die. You can't do anything without skipping the entire conversation.

After clearing their hideout, Bradley comes on the line. The little creepers just keep attacking until you die. You can't do anything without skipping the entire conversation. I've had the same happen more than once. It's pretty much guaranteed if I don't search the area first or drop a turret to keep protect myself. I've been away from this thread for so long. I'm glad it's still alive. I have played 700-800 hours of AC Odyssey since release. DLC kept dropping and pulling me back in when I was ready for a break. A full PT takes so damn long for that game, very much on par with DAI. It makes MEA seem reasonable in length. I've been too sick to game for a while, but finally powered up and began a new MEA PT today. I created a new Scott to twin with my favorite Sara. I started fresh from level 1, using screenshots of my CC settings to avoid importing appearances. I hate playing the intro in red and black armor. Who decided that would be a good idea? Ugh. Many of my favorite faces are "no longer available" in the ME Archives, so I'm having to recreate what I can and salvage others from past PTs. Anyway, I logged off before seeing Tempest for the first time. My wife was home and my dog was tired of watching me play. I think I'll be able to get invested in this PT when I next log on. It's been a long time since my last PT, so staleness shouldn't be an issue. I waffled a bit on playstyle, but decided to start as an Operator and build my "Tactical Soldier". That means Tac Cloak, Invasion (or Assault Turret) and Turbocharge will be my active skills. This build is nice because you can melt even Architects with ease at very low levels. I'm always tempted to go Adept, but biotic detonations just aren't deadly enough at low levels on Insanity. Cleaning up foes who've survived insane rag-dolling and falls from low orbit sours my fun. We'll see which weapon I end up choosing as my primary. Valkyrie and Hornet are both optimal, but I might build a Ghost. It's pretty, it's satisfying and it isn't brokenly OP.

I played several hours of MEA, today. I'm extremely pleased with my new Scott. As I mentioned, he is the twin to my favorite Sara. He has existed in several good iterations over the years, but has finally perfected in my eyes. The myriad, minor hang-ups I've found hampering my enjoyment of past versions (always a skin texture issue) have been resolved in this version.
In terms of story, Scott and the team completed Eos through the vault and post-vault accessible content (83% viability). They returned to the Nexus for some back-slapping, new quests and new responsibilities. A brief stop back on Eos allowed Scott to meet Darket Trevian and Grace Lito, two specialists whom he fast-tracked out of Cryo. With all other tasks at a standstill or completed, the Archon, Aya and the Angara await.
In terms of gameplay, I'm a few XP short of level 11. I just constructed a Valkyrie 3 with beam emitter and bioconverter, so I guess broken guns are back on the menu. Bioconverter will be slightly risky until Team Support comes fully online. That's where my next 21 skill points will be going. I expect that will be achieved on Havarl. The Fusion Mod of Adrenaline also awaits there. With those crucial pieces in place, God Mode ensues and the rest is gravy. I thought I might try a more gimped experience this PT, but I now think I'll just play my broken build and cruise along.
I'd like to share my newly perfected twin(s), but sharing from PS4 is a PitA. I could post ME Archives links if anyone wants to load them into their CC and see them in-game. They're of black/mixed ethnicity, which seems slightly rare amongst those twins I've seen shared online. Scott's dramatic transformation from Opey Face #10 to "a black dude" is particularly satisfying from the standpoint of maximizing the CC options.
