I played several hours of MEA, today. I'm extremely pleased with my new Scott. As I mentioned, he is the twin to my favorite Sara. He has existed in several good iterations over the years, but has finally perfected in my eyes. The myriad, minor hang-ups I've found hampering my enjoyment of past versions (always a skin texture issue) have been resolved in this version. In terms of story, Scott and the team completed Eos through the vault and post-vault accessible content (83% viability). They returned to the Nexus for some back-slapping, new quests and new responsibilities. A brief stop back on Eos allowed Scott to meet Darket Tiervian and Grace Lito, two specialists whom he fast-tracked out of Cryo. With all other tasks at a standstill or completed, the Archon, Aya and the Angara await. In terms of gameplay, I'm a few XP short of level 11. I just constructed a Valkyrie 3 with beam emitter and bioconverter, so I guess broken guns are back on the menu. Bioconverter will be slightly risky until Team Support comes fully online. That's where my next 21 skill points will be going. I expect that will be achieved on Havarl. The Fusion Mod of Adrenaline also awaits there. With those crucial pieces in place, God Mode ensues and the rest is gravy. I thought I might try a more gimped experience this PT, but I now think I'll just play my broken build and cruise along. I'd like to share my newly perfected twin(s), but sharing from PS4 is a PitA. I could post ME Archives links if anyone wants to load them into their CC and see them in-game. They're of black/mixed ethnicity, which seems slightly rare amongst those twins I've seen shared online. Scott's dramatic transformation from Opey Face #10 to "a black dude" is particularly satisfying from the standpoint of maximizing the CC options. EDIT: Scott link: masseffectarchives.com/#user/2300391626/playthrough/326332243/gender/maleSara link: masseffectarchives.com/#user/2300391626/playthrough/326332243/gender/female

I'm experiencing a bug with "Waking up the Future". After salvaging the kett supply drops predicted by Darket, the quest completes. It remains flagged, though, as active. Since you can't shutoff the contextual quest tracker, it's annoying.
I've only ever experienced this bug with the Voeld Architect. It broke several PTs or me, since I can't tolerate the crap notice on the screen. I'm leaving the task uncompleted for now and hoping I'm not headed for more problems later.
Sigh. On to Aya, hoping for the best.
EDIT: I went back to Eos after meeting the Angara. I'd forgotten that I always return there before going to Havarl. The bug was no longer a problem. I hope it stays that way.
I've already maxed my Team Support skill. I'll top off Turbocharge next, and then probably Offensive Tech or Assault Turret.

I forgot to turn off my Ad Blocker and the damn site ate my post. 🤨 I guess I'll try again with greater brevity.
Scott returned to Eos, bringing it to 100% viability and clearing it of activities for the near future. He hit level 20 upon defeating the Architect. Seems about right. We'll swing by the Nexus before heading for Havarl tomorrow.
I posted a long-winded observation as to how one OP gun (newly upgraded at level 20 Valkyrie 4 Beam Emitter) and a combination of complimentary skills can easily break the game. There are a few skillsets/builds that can crack Andromeda in half. I think my level 20 Scott could finish the game as he is now, with the occasional death due to low hp.
The game is a blast to play, but it definitely needed a lot more tuning and balancing. As always when I play MEA, I find myself thinking of how great it could've been if so much time hadn't been wasted in the first 3 or 4 years of development (allegedly). I'm glad they managed to beef up the CC and patch in the R&D features before the plug was pulled. It has a lot if rough edges, but it's still fun to play. It would've been lesser without the patches we did receive.

Reading these again... So eager to get back to the game, but unfortunately I started DAI PT #4 before it, so ... the thing is, this time I have the most yearning for MEA and as my ME1 PT #12(?++) comes to its end, I'm gonna skip 2 and 3 completely, jump into MEA.

Damn Element Zero now you have got me wanting to play again as well. Probably got at least 50jrs of ACOD to go plus DLC and worry if I stop I won't go back, Oh well maybe RL will settle down and I can split my attention but never been great at that.

I had to put down Odyssey for a while. I'd logged between 700 and 800 hours since launch. They kept the new content dripping steadily enough to keep me coming back, even when I knew I needed a break. I stopped mid-quest in Hades. I just wasn't having fun. I'll nab any weekly rewards I want, but probably won't really play again for a while. I really wish we were awaiting a new Mass Effect. Had things gone differently for Andromeda, we'd probably be awaiting a trailer at some event or another, late this year or next. Sigh. At least we have four games to enjoy. I'm enjoying this fresh run through Andromeda. I'd played it too much, as with Odyssey, and took a long break. Now, it feels fresh again, and I know the best parts all lie ahead. I've already been musing on alternative builds/styles, so I'm likely to play it again after completion.

I've reached Havarl and I'm really, really missing my old gear, skills and the like. I'm not deleting my current PT, but I'm going to start a NG+ with these twins and see if I'm more satisfied.
I feel like this game starts very weakly, so I hate to have to replay all of that stuff. That said, I'll have all of my goodies, so I'll just shoot/crush/explode swiftly through it all again.
This current PT sees me swimming in Bioconverters and Beam Emitters. It's odd in that bioconverters are typically scarce, regardless of what I do. Beam emitters are not usually abundant, either. It's another reason to save the file rather than hastily deleting it. It might be worth revisiting, if only to eventually build an entire arsenal of bioconverter weapons.
I think I want to build a Beam Emitter Incisor. The thing is insane when switched to full-auto. Adding the BE will essentially eliminate the stability issue. It would specifically be an anti-Architect weapon. Rifles and SMGs are already good tools for that, but I'm always looking for new things to try.

Just woke up from Cryo, made planet-side on Habitat 7 and ran into a couple of locals. Now I'm catching my breath with Liam, stocking up on ammo and medi-gel before we go out and find dad.
Mission-relevant notes:
-The Hyperion's coffee sucks.
-Scott is stuck in a fridge just like I always warned him about when we were kids. Lexi says he'll be okay, but I could really have used him watching our backs.
-The rest of the team has terrible taste in music. Every Johnny Cash song I threw out there was vetoed, even the ones that would have been really thematic. Philistines. Next time we're taking the shuttle, I'll insist on playlist privileges. Scott'll back me up.
-Liam is acting like a big man-baby, and it's freaking me out. He said he was in Crisis Response. Shouldn't he have nerves of steel? Why did dad pick him for the team? He's cool enough under fire, but some of the things he says make me worry if I can keep him under control. I don't need to be stuck out here with some hothead. This whole situation is crazy enough as it is.
-We just gunned down two locals for kicking Fisher. Liam lost his temper and started shooting, and there was nothing I could do except cover him. So maybe we just started a war. Maybe on someone else's home turf. Who knows, maybe someone who could blow the Hyperion and all of daddy's dreams right out of the sky in two seconds. Maybe even someone who could track our trajectory back to the Milky Way and send them a present as revenge. Shit. I don't know. Shit.
-This was all a terrible idea, and if I live long enough to talk to dad again I'm going to slap his ass for dragging us out here. After he's figured out a plan and led us all to safety, of course. But then, slaptime. Maybe with Disappointed Daughter Eyes. Double combo. Ugh.

Yeah, I can totally empathise it took me 275hrs to finish the first PT and I am now at 430hrs I think and haven't finished my 2n full PT or LoTFB on this PT and haven't touched the two new DLC's. Maybe I should take a break but as mentioned I am definitely starting an NG+ but from one of my earlier saves rather than my 14th or 15th. Yeah it truly sucks to not have am ME on the horizon or even the hint of one. God damn you Bioware, you could have at least chucked some people at a a DLC for MEA after the Anthem cluster-f#ck.

I'm retreading early ground with my NG+ Scott. I wish I could just jump ahead, back to Havarl; but I'll get there. I'm currently heading back to the Nexus after establishing Prodromos, saving some foolish engineers and meeting the key leaders.
I've tinkered with my color schemes and the like. I'm playing Sentinel (Lance/Annihilation/Energy Drain) as my primary. That means Hyperguardian Armor. What looks good on one set doesn't necessarily translate well to another. So, my Deep Space color scheme has been swapped for a cleaner, brighter scheme.
Sentinels and Vanguards work great with shotguns. The autofire, seeking plasma Hesh is one of the very best guns you can make. Still, I hate the noise. I also prefer MW aesthetics. I'm thinking I'll make a Valkyrie (autofire, seeking plasma, bioconverter) at some point. That will be my quieter, "hose 'em down with plasma at close range" weapon. I'm running with only the Hornet (Autofire, Beam Emitter, Bioconverter) at present. I like the clean look afforded by a small loadout, particularly the weapon-free back of the armor.
I'm always struck by the unevenness of the dialogue in this game. A mostly Professional/Serious Scott is a pretty solid experience. The banter, though, is lots of ham and cheese. Often, even simple conversations feature lots of non sequitur comments. This stuff certainly didn't help the game's reception at release. I like a game that takes itself slightly more seriously, and at least sounds natural with its humor. Oh, well.

Often, even simple conversations feature lots of non sequitur comments. This stuff certainly didn't help the game's reception at release. I like a game that takes itself slightly more seriously, and at least sounds natural with its humor. Oh, well. This was essentially my reaction when starting Mass Effect 3, and it took me a while to get used to that pithy Joss Whedonesque banter, especially with how tense the plot was otherwise. Then Citadel happened and turned the snarky lightheartedness up to eleven without even attempting to give the story any emotional weight. It's the one DLC I plan to outright skip this time around, though I'll decide for sure when I get there in my trilogy playthrough. I try to get into the spirit of it in Andromeda though. As you say, Professional/Serious Ryder offers the most even tone, and most of the party being young adults and technically outside military protocol at that excuses at least some of the inane chatter. A shame Ryder Sr. doesn't survive the start of the game. His no-nonsense attitude really helps focus the first hour. And my reservations about being forced to play an overgrown teenager given the keys to the kingdom aside, I'm always surprised by how much I enjoy Sara Ryder. Her model is really well-made and looks like a fit young woman instead of some statuesque warrior dame, and her being physically smaller and shorter than most of the rest of the crew gives her an air of human vulnerability that Shepard certainly never had, man or woman. Her voice and acting is okay strong too, as long as you get her a less dopey-looking face to go with them. That scene of the Archon viewing a recording of Alec interfacing with the weather thingy is really nice too. Very ominous, and I always like villains who express themselves with body language instead of monologues. Again, a shame the game doesn't do more with the notion of the Kett as part of the local power structure who feel threatened by us, instead making them irredeemably evil and monstrous. Found Cora and her people after exploring a bit. Then found daddy. Conquered a weird weather station and then stuff happened. Woke up the new Pathfinder for reasons nobody can figure out. Yay. On our way to the Nexus now. Mission-relevant notes:-Liam really does seem out of control sometimes. I'm glad we found Cora and I can lean on her instead. He's good in a fight, but relying on trigger-happy testosterone bombs is a loser move. Don't know what dad was thinking, recruiting him. He's usually a better judge of character. -Those structures back on Habitat 7... Don't know what to make of them. They clearly didn't belong to our grumpy new neighbors, and after just 600 years we should be finding a lot more traces of any civilization capable of building them. It makes no sense. You don't build mega-structures on planets without a population. And why build something that just messes up the weather? Damn. I wish we'd had a chance to study them more closely. Maybe dad had some ideas before... well, before. -I don't get why I have to be the Pathfinder. Cora was dad's second, and she's much better trained. And older. But she keeps shooting me down when I try to broach the subject. I don't know if she knows something I don't, or if she's just processing and needs to think about things. Which I'd respect, except that we're supposed to be meeting with the Initiative leadership in a few hours and I'm pretty sure she'd sound more confident defending our decisions than I will. Hope she pulls herself together and takes over soon. I need to check on Scott... -Gaaaaah. So many questions. At least when we get to the Nexus we'll know more about the situation. I need a debriefing, a long night's rest in a real bed, a few hours staring at a ceiling with some music on and PROPER COFFEE before I can even begin to figure out what's going on with SAM being in my head all of a sudden.

Sara was definitely my preference (11 Sara's to 5 Scott's) but I found her VA was really suited to playing a more casual or sassy Sara and yes losing the goofy face is a pre-requisite!!!! I think the whole beginning of the game is great and then hits a major speed hump when you have to go to The Nexus the first time. I would have preferred going to The Nexus before Habitat 7 myself.

Notes on the Nexus:
-Seems like people on the Nexus have been through some tough times. The chain of command was apparently screwed up from the start, and that always makes everything difficult. Add to that unexpected resource scarcity and people being stranded 2,5 million light-years away from home with reinforcements not showing up, and it's no wonder things are rough. If dad had been here in that time, he'd either have found solutions or been climbing the walls driving everyone crazy.
-That said, the leadership is clearly doing their best. The superintendent is a rock. Kesh is keeping the station running with a minimum of fuss, and I know enough about routing power through big orbital compounds to know her people are doing a good job. In fact, I've gotten to know a few of her technicians. Solid guys. Professional. Garson didn't hire slobs. The security chief - or "leader of the militia" - is a sensible and practical turian. Dad would have liked him. Not a proud old war machine, just a man of action exactly where he needs to be.
-The director seems to be unpopular, and I admit he's a bit sleazy for my tastes. But honestly, I'm not seeing what he's doing wrong. From what I understand, he stepped up big time when the original leadership were lost, and have been doing okay keeping everything going with very little to work with. That's a hell of a pressure, and he seems to take it on the chin when people aren't satisfied. He's down-to-earth and constructive when we discuss my team's objectives, too, and has good ideas for how to proceed. Not bad at all for a former bean counter.
-Addison, the director of colonization efforts, is a bit harder to deal with. She's obviously really frustrated after all this time, and the people she's lost trying to get things running while waiting for the Arks to arrive. I get that, absolutely. I can't really fault her for not trusting me either. To be frank, I'm right there with her. Dad and his stupid arbitrary decisions. Sometimes I really, really wish he'd trusted people more, been better at communicating.
-I was lying when I told Dunn he wasn't good with people. He was. He was just too stubborn to slow down enough for a lot to understand his reasoning. It made them feel like he saw them as stupid and inconsequential. I don't think he did. He just... thought in a different way to the rest of us. I've met a few of his N7 buddies, and they're all like that. Hyperactive in command. Operating on information that the rest of us don't have access to, having to make decisions without hesitation and with no room for doubt, or it's all for nothing, and demanding that people toe the line for their own good. When I was younger it scared me. Now I'm glad people like that exist, and that they fight for the rest of us. I just wish we were all better at handling it.
-Cora says they're refitting his Pathfinder armor to fit me. Don't know how I feel about that. It's good armor, and it means something, and I'd be stupid not to wear it. But I'm not N7. I'm not walking around with that designation on my chest for the rest of my career. It'd be insanely disrespectful. Maybe I'll find something better to wear. If not, I'll have them cover it up or forego the chest piece entirely. Which would be a shame, I really like the collar. But that's just how it's going to be.
-Buuuuuuut... I went through his quarters after talking with SAM. A lot of interesting stuff. One thing in particular. He brought mom's coffeemaker! I'm having that thing set up in my quarters if I have to personally install the wall socket. Which I may. From what I'm being told, the ship we're getting is crazy advanced. I can't wait to see it.

I know opinions vary wildly, but I really enjoy Eos all around. I had a blast tonight replaying the same stuff on Eos that I'd just completed days ago. (I'd still be going if my wife and dog didn't need sleep!) I have a few things left to do out beyond the Press On Dunes, but Eos is shaping up well.
I used a few Profiles tonight. My main is Sentinel (Lance/Annihilation/Energy Drain). I switched up for a while to Vanguard (Charge/Annihilation/Energy Drain), as I was itching for that crazy closing speed. In the end, though, I love my invincible combo-bomber Sentinel. For killing Invictor and the Architect I switched to Soldier (Invasion/Tactical Cloak/Turbocharge). When you need to melt something fast, accept no substitutes.
I made the right choice in restarting with a NG+ for this PT. I was missing the high-level combat much more than I was looking to rise from zero to hero.
I've been enjoying Vetra + Drack banter on Eos. Vetra + Liam was good, too, though they get off to an adversarial start thanks to Liam's flapping mouth. I tend to favor certain companions in certain places. Jaal will soon move center stage on Havarl and Voeld. I often pair him with Liam on Havarl for tactical reasons, but I might try to work PeeBee in a bit. Cora and Jaal are awesome on Voeld, and will always be heavily used there.
I've abandoned the idea of trying to substitute anything for the Hesh-FASP/bio. (Yep, I am a nerd and have designations for my gear. That one is Full-Auto + Seeking Plasma + bioconverter.) It's just unrivaled in fast-paced CQC. Its sound might wear on me over 80 hours, but it's pretty satisfying in general. Since I'm primarily a Sentinel-Bomber anyway, at present, my gun of choice is still my Hornet-FABE/bio. I kill most stuff up close via the combo detonation and melee attack loop, anyway.

I wasn't able to play as much as I'd hoped, but I got to wrap up Eos and head back to the Nexus today.
That included stopping by to see Bain Massani after wiping out the kett yesterday. Then, we explored the dunes. Lots of kett died. We stopped the kett from transmitting intel regarding Prodromos. We also found and coopted a kett study on Eos' wildlife. That data went to Prodromos and the Initiative instead of the kett.
Killing so many kett finally earned me a few more bioconverters. When I eventually unlock that extra augmentation slot, I'll be able to craft a couple more weapons I have in mind. I may craft prototypes sooner, but final versions will have to wait.
Not too much else to tell. We also found the final shuttle to escape from Resilience. The crafty turian pilot had managed to keep everyone alive. We found them running very low on power, but alive in stasis, in Eriksson System.
Tomorrow is going to be very busy in real life, but I hope to squeeze in some MEA. If I can knock out Havarl 100%, that will be great. That's probably too ambitious, but we shall see.

I agree re Eos, I always enjoy it much as I enjoy Elaaden except for the damn random generated quests on Elaaden which don't pop as readily as they do on Eos. I also think the Kett Base on Eos is one of my favourite fights, except for probably the Voeld kett base.

I got to play several hours of MEA, today. I completed Havarl from arrival through the vault activation, including all of the side quests available during that time.
Tomorrow I'll talk to Jaal and Evfra aboard Tempest, catch up with crew and head back out to finish Havarl's quests.

Notes on the Tempest
-This ship is amazing. No way the Alliance would ever have screwed something like this together and given it to me. Dad would've loved her. He'd have deserved her, too. But I'll do my best.
-Owe our early departure to Vetra, our new... Nexus Liason? Who cares, she's going to be really useful to have around since Cora and I don't really have any idea how things work on the Nexus yet. Ran into her sister in the station's makeshift lab too, earlier. She seemed cool.
-The actual crew kicks ass too. Kallo, our pilot, knows every inch of the ship top-to-bottom like the back of his own horns, and exactly how to make her dance. Which is perfect, because I can't fly for shit.
-Suvi is our science officer, and a real sweetheart. She's Christian, which is interesting. Mom insisted that we should respect the stories and literature of ancient faiths. It was actually one of her pet peeves. "Anyone who thinks they're so smart that they can't learn something important from thousands of years of accumulated wisdom is a moron." I hope Suvi takes me up on that drink sometime. Would love to hear her opinion on the Book of Job. I've always thought that how people view that story says a lot about how they view life in general. Just hope I don't come off like some condescending boffin pretending to indulge her.
-Speaking of, our engineer is Gil Brodie. He's something of a smug bastard. And he's also sharp as a tack. Ship-building and maintenance isn't exactly my specialty, but I've known a bunch of people who lived for it. And every time I ask him what he's doing, it's something I know wouldn't have occurred to a single one of them. We're insanely lucky to have him. And he isn't bad to look at either. Bit skeevy, but kinda sorta pulling it off, you know? You can tell he hasn't spent his life cooped up somewhere like Arcturus Station. Only downside to him so far, aside from his attitude too early in the morning, is that he and Kallo don't seem to get on.
-Infinite deluxe coffee cheat code ftw!
-"Mwuhahaha! Guess who has administrative access to the intercom from her quarters?! Hope the rest of you like vintage country music!"

I wrapped up Havarl tonight, learning more about the roekarr and thwarting a crazy plot to poison multiple habitable worlds with an Ai presence. Fanatics are always the same, willing to cut of their own noses with their fool quests.
I enjoy how Jaal is very guarded when he first joins the crew, but fully embraces the alliance after Ryder and crew save his world. It just feels natural and believable. Evfra's dialogue is less well written, but that relationship likewise feels pretty believable. An extraordinary accomplishment justifies a leap of trust, even a scary one.
Cora caught word of Asari on Eos, and we got our first lead on their ark. So now we know that Natanus, Paarchero and Leusinia each made it to Heleus. We just don't yet know where any of the three are, or if they're safe.
The session was regrettably short, and I saved at the Resistance HQ on Voeld before initiating any conversations. Good spot to resume tomorrow.
The environmental hazards are idiotic in this game. I understand and like the idea, but it was terribly executed. Both the temps and levels of ionizing radiation should be no threat to someone in a hardsuit. I know the Ai is equipped primarily with civilian series armor and weapons, but come on! Are these suits just knit underoos with plastic shells? I play exclusively on Insanity, and Voeld's bugged hazards are a true irritant. I don't look forward to it. I imagine this is a gameplay feature that would've been patched had we been provided proper post-launch support.
Oh, well. Don't want to end on a downer. I am still loving my new Scott, and still enjoying the explosive mayhem of my Annihilation Bomber. Since I'm playing NG+, I also have all the gear and skills needed for the occasional change of pace.

Was so close yesterday to starting a new PT, the length of the start combined with my agonising over the CC just takes too long. Yeah the environmental stuff is a good idea but especially as it breaks on Voeld after resetting the vault is annoying as hell. Doesn't Ryder say something maybe when arriving on EOS about what good are these suits for if they can't stop radiation or is that when they arrive on H-047c?

dazk, he does say that. The line always seemed silly to me, but I guess it does fit this gameplay discussion pretty well. Maybe Scott was speaking across the fourth wall? Why agonize over the CC? Just import the twins I linked above and let me know what you think! 😉

I cannot tell you how many times I have changed my MEA characters appearance even after starting the game as I just wasn't feeling how they fit how I was playing and also sometimes because the hair or face didn't work animation wise.

I'm the same way. I just wanted someone to see them in game. 😂 I stopped several PTs of earlier versions of this Scott. Something just wasn't right. He's finally okay, now. I love that Sara, funky hair and all. The face is most lifelike in game that I've seen from any ME character. There are options I wish I had for both, but meh. We work with what we have. This CC was never phenomenal. It allows for consistently good faces, but makes masterpieces difficult.

So yesterday Scott spoke to the leadership team on The Nexus and wasn't honestly very impressed except for Kesh and Kandros. Tann in particular appears to be out of his depth and too much of a politician rather than the leader the Ai needs. Addison where to start, how she got such a senior position when everything seems so "personal" to her I am really not sure. It was interesting to hear from people how much "dad" had inspired them to commit to the whole Andromeda Initiative. Chatted to a supposed murderer, seems like the case against him was based more on circumstantial evidence than any hard facts but at least Scott got Tann to let him retrieve the body. Scott spoke to the science and team and was keen to assist with their research, spoke to SAM and found out his true capabilities which Scott found a bit scary and also found out dad has secrets. Finally got hold of the Tempest and met all the crew, definitely a spark with Cora even if she is carrying a huge biotic chip on her shoulder and he's sensing that she may well be worshiping at the church of the Asari. Headed to Eos to look at it as a settlement site, hopefully Scott and SAM can make it happen where others couldn't and on the way scanned numerous planets and found Dr. Aridana's lost science crew. Unfortunately none had survived an incident with the Scourge. Landed on Eos and scouted one of the attempts at settlement , found a dead body that had been left behind and encountered a scavenger in our efforts to restore power. Restoring the power led us to another encounter with the Kett, it seems that shoot first is definitely their policy of choice but Cora and Liam and Scott were far too much ofr them on this occasion. Having restored power and dealt with the Kett, Scott headed off to investigate the strange pillars and on investigating the first one Scott was "mugged" by n Asari named PeeBee. She's definitely a bundle of energy but will have to see whether she is as great a scientific mind as she thinks she is. Activated the final two pillars and at the last one encountered more Kett (who died) and an ancient Krogan named Drack, he certainly knows how to make an entrance but wasn't willing to join us. Next on to activating the facility that has now miraculously risen from the lake nearby, fun times ahead!!!!! Pic's The Tempest Got interviewed and may have flirted with the Journo!!! Cora you're going to have to get over it Jumped by an Asari, don't think Scott actually minded Got stabbed by the Dr. who wasn't Harry Met this guy but he didn't want to play with us!
