The forum is struggling a little with multiple, 'I hate this game' / 'I love this game' threads. Expressing those views is, of course, fine, but multiple threads covering the same ground is obscuring other threads addressing specific aspects of the game.
So this thread is for general feedback along the lines of 'dislike or hate' the game. That doesn't prevent, civil comment from those who disagree, but it sets the tone for the conversation.
Duplicate threads may be moved in here.

Hi guys, I'm not here to jump on the bandwagon or to rant about this game. I'm hoping that the devs and others see this post so that these glaring issues can be fixed with their game. It is extremely obvious that this was an unfinished product that is being sold to consumers and that's just flat out wrong. I put about 40~ hours into this game and I regret almost every single moment of it. The first thing that I'm going to talk about are bugs and glitches. I have found too many, probably one every 5 to 10 minutes with some of them being game breaking. I have also found myself in death looped saved states because enemies that I killed respawned on top of me (mind you I was playing on insane difficulty) and just mauled me in half a second over and over and over again. While hilarious to watch it was also maddening. Then there are other bugs such as being magically launched into the sky when I jumped at the Nomad and the doors propped open and flung me into the sky and getting stuck on walls and objects like no tomorrow. I've also had enemies fail to appear so I could not complete puzzles after failing them until I reloaded a saved state and, low and behold, they appeared like magic. And I've seen ships going straight through walls and mountains. Even Halo didn't do that crap and that game is over a decade old now. The list just goes on and on. Then we have some very serious bad gameplay mechanics. I'm talking about mechanics such as the life support system. You're supposed to explore these world but you can't because you can't even step foot outside the nomad (at least not early on anyway) unless you like the thought of death. Do you want to stop and fight some enemies? If you're playing on insane mode then forget about it. Almost every single fight I pretty much either flat out ran out of life support to sustain the battle or was about to. And if there wasn't any nearby (like the time at my death loop where I was searching for some and ran out) then sucks to be you! And then there are timers and battle animations that are far to long to be even remotely useful. I used the barricade just a few times and regretted my decision to put any points into it at all. It literally takes 2 to 3 seconds to deploy the damn thing and you can't move at all during the process. You were better off using evasive maneuvers and finding cover than exposing yourself to death. There are other issues but I'm just pointing out a few for now. Next we have the piss poor optimization. I'm going to ask you to look at this game if you have not heard about it called tera rising. Now I hate this game so don't think that I'm promoting it or anything because they gender locked all their classes to female for neckbeards in their basements that want to play as loli's or some bull. But look at how gorgeous this game is. I played this game with a GTX 770 on max settings and consistently got above 60 FPS. This game is gorgeous and looks far better than this game does. Just look at those damn trees. Yet, when I played this game with my upgraded graphics card, a GTX 975, I can BARELY play on high settings and most of the time I get severe frame rate dips to the point of unplayability. When you ask your customers to have literally the newest graphic card that was JUST released, you're doing it wrong especially when there are games that look far better and can run on potatoes made of wood. The guy in the video put his specs on there as well and low and behold, a 760. Note: I loathe tera, this is just to show an example of excellent graphics with excellent optimization. And the sounds are just bland and bad. They don't exist and when they do they aren't immersive. They are very forgettable and it's down right ugly. Sometimes too much is bad, in this case, there's nothing to begin with. Lastly are the animations, yes, they're bad. Probably to the point where it will take months to fix. So if you're expecting a quick fix it won't happen probably until at least fall at the earliest. They pretty much have to redo almost all of them. So if you wish to buy this game then go ahead, but know that this is an unfinished product. I used to do betas in games and actually test for bugs. You do stupid things like jumping at walls to see if you get stuck or melt away into the ground and test the collision detection. You also look for bad game mechanics and gameplay errors (such as the death loop that I mentioned above). This game isn't even in its beta phase. This is literally in its alpha state. Please stop selling unfinished products to your customers. Even if this product is fixed more than a year down the road I still do not know if I would buy this because I feel so insulted that you would have the audacity to sell me an unfinished product. I'm pretty unbiased and I like to think for myself but this is not acceptable. It's literally the second game in a decade that I have asked for a refund for out of 3 because the quality of the game was so damn horrific that I just could not deal with it anymore. Hell at least I lasted a good 40 or so hours on this one, the other game did not even get an hours worth of play time.

I didn't experience any of these issues. Maybe playing at a high difficulty is making you upset. I've had the occasional animation glitch, but nothing game breaking so far. Half your rant is about game balance issues which would be better off as suggestions, seeing as you are using and testing these skills at the highest difficulty.

Half your rant is about game balance issues which would be better off as suggestions, seeing as you are using and testing these skills at the highest difficulty. Okay, I'm going to be as nice as possible here. I have been gaming for decades, playing on normal difficulty is belittling to me and a retarded option. It's like me playing diablo III with a character that can speed run Torment 8 or higher and playing on Torment 4 or lower. It's a waste of time when I could be doing something better and getting more loot etc. Same logic here. There's no reason for me to be playing on anything other than the 2 hardest difficulties. The reason why you haven't run into these problems is because you're not really playing the game and you can just stand still and kill things without effort. I actually put a lot of effort and thought into how I planned my battles after a few failures. My issue is not with the combat itself and I have no idea how you even came to this conclusion. I'd also like to add that these issues are on youtube as well if you look at some of the videos so just because you have not experienced them does not mean that they do not exist which I call bull on because these issues are glaring and apparent and I'm not even trying to see if this game has bugs or glitches I'm just running into them left and right.

Wow, a 6 year old game is better optimized then a game that came out a week ago... who woulda thunk.
Not sure what your Playing on, but Adromeda looks gorgeous in comparison to that mmo.
Agreed theirs some bugs, but in my 30 hours I've really only experienced stuck enemies.. never had pop Ins, and certainly not 1 bug every 5 to 10 minutes.
Also, refund after 40 hours? You remind me of people who will goto a restaurant, eat all their food then complain it wasn't good. Smh.

I'm not belittling you, I merely suggested that perhaps the difficulty and you dying so often was the reason why you are upset. I even said that you are better off providing suggestions about balance since you are experiencing the game at the highest difficulty. Take the barricade skill for example, I thought about taking it but decided not to because like you said, there is plenty of cover already, so i'm glad I didn't take it as it would not have benefited me in the heat of battle. Instread I took the skill that gave me dmg resistance and regen bonuses when I'm in cover. So it seems to me that you are probably just unlucky, maybe if you chose better skills that compliment your build, you'd have a better time.

Did you really just self-praise your post as well thought out? You posted on a Mass Effect/Bioware forum with a negative rant (not sure what type of reaction you were expecting) while declaring your opinion as some sort of fact then attacked someone who says he didn't experience the same issues. Then start whining when people disagree with you and your examples. If these comments triggered you, I advice avoiding post your thoughts on forums. Pretty sure I said in my very first sentence that this was not a rant and secondly I am a very logical person and you would know this if you know me in real life. I make judgement and decisions based off purely factual information and my own experiences and pretty much nothing else. I'm different from most people. If I was hindering a mission because I was injured I would have no problems with someone killing me off so I didn't hold them back anymore and I'm not joking. Also what I stated was a fact and I can prove it if you'd like. For some all I'd have to do is reinstall the game while I still own it and take my own recordings and others are already on youtube. A fact is a fact and is provable.

The only times I died was when I had to fight 15 enemies or more and was virtually surrounded with no escape because of the way the game played out. It does not take much to do some scouting before hand and do some planning and preparation. But that's probably too in depth for you.

I believe the life support system is something that improves for each planet. The journal tells you that when you leave Eos wait for radiation levels to clear. You can't really bitch about the life support system and constantly dying when you're engaging with enemies while playing on insanity.
From what I've seen, the optimization is fine for most people. Hell, I'm playing on a GTX 770 with textures on Ultra, Ambient Occlusion and Anti-Aliasing to their highest settings, and everything else on medium/low and my game is running surprisingly good (some scenes/areas give me a frame drop, of course. but nothing that's over bearing for me personally). Sucks to hear about your glitches though. You have every right to be angry about that. However, I do think you're overreacting by saying the game is unfinished and seems like it was in its alpha state. You sound like a child.

A lot of games feel like they're released unfinished nowadays. Bugs, cut content, day 1 DLC, all things that annoy me about the modern gaming industry. But saying MEA is "literally in its alpha state" is ludicrous hyperbole that won't win you much sympathy for your arguments. For that matter, neither will looking down on others who might play on a different difficulty than you and telling them they "aren't playing the game." That's stupid and elitist.
My experience, on the PS4, has been great so far. Not a single bug seen in 25-30 hours so far. I know people are having trouble with them, but fortunately I haven't yet. Nothing that I've experienced so far indicates MEA is an unfinished product, other than maybe a little lack of polish.
You're very lucky to get a refund after 40 hours of play. I hope you can find something you like better.

I believe the life support system is something that improves for each planet. The journal tells you that when you leave Eos wait for radiation levels to clear. You can't really bitch about the life support system and constantly dying when you're engaging with enemies while playing on insanity. From what I've seen, the optimization is fine for most people. Sucks to hear about your glitches though. You have every right to be angry about that. However, I do think you're overreacting by saying the game is unfinished and seems like it was in its alpha state. You sound like a child. Look bro, I didn't die. Stop thinking that I did because I didn't. The life support system is an issue because enemies are bullet sponges. Most people that I see even making this claim that it's not an issue never cranked the game up to harder difficulties to see what I'm even talking about. It takes time to do an engagement properly and surveying the area. And even after you've done that it's not worth it because your Life Support will run out before you can even get halfway through the combat. You can't just rush into enemies and expect to kill them all because the only thing that will greet you is certain death. Also this game is unfinished. I really should record every single bug and glitch that I encountered to show you people who keep denying this even when it's already on youtube videos if you take the time to actually go out and watch them like I did even though I have already played this game. But I seem like a child for pointing out a games flaws? You must be joking? Because I don't fancy the idea of ending up in a death loop because of a crappy spawning system that should be removed from the game through simple testing? That people getting stuck on and behind objects constantly because they want to explore and be stupid in their own little world but can't because the game is buggy and glitchy as hell and just watching ships fly directly through mountains and walls is just hilarious when even halo didn't do that and the ships that came into contact with walls collided with them because they were actual physical objects that interacted with one another. And as a guy who has literally tested out video games and reported bugs to said developers I know exactly what a game looks like in both alpha and beta stages of the game. This is literally an alpha stage game that is an unfinished product and why I refunded this game. You can have a different opinion than me and that's fine. But I think that your standards are seriously low if you think that this was anywhere near a complete product. Edit: Oh and that's just for one fight, you aren't doing multiple without replenishing your life support and that just breaks the immersion in the game for me. I can't even explore the world because I'm completely gated in what I'm capable of and what I can do.
