So my general thoughts after playing the game for around 12 hours or so in SP:
It's already been pointed out a million times about the array of technical issues on things like animation issues so I wont bother to reiterate that other than to say that yeah, there is a number of problems there and they need fixing.
On characters I like most of the crew. Their characters feel a bit more natural this time around rather than the OT style of "Hi I know I just met you 5 minutes ago but here's my entire life story". The voice acting seems fine enough for the main cast, although some of the side characters on the Nexus(specifically in the Nexus leadership) feel pretty wooden.
For the story it's been okay so far. Nothing amazing yet but also nothing that sticks out as particularly awful. Without getting into spoilers there is one point early on where they attempt to have a potentially emotional moment but it just doesn't work for me because it's so early in the game that I'm not yet invested in any character involved.
Combat has probably been my favourite part of the game with my main complaint being that many of the weapons feel like they lack impact on the higher difficulties. Playing on Insanity my starting Avenger took multiple clips to kill even basic troopers in the tutorial mission.
Beyond that though the combat feels fluid and many of the weapons sound great. I haven't been particularly bothered by the "3 active abilities and 4 profiles" thing, but I know a lot of people don't like it. I actually find it kind of nice to be able to respec on the fly(although I'm still limited in what I can do at the moment because of a lack of skill points since I'm still a relatively low level).
Also the lack of a proper save feature can be very frustrating. I know some people have said you can manually save by switching your actively tracked mission, but at no point in my 12 hours no matter what I do have I ever been able to manually save the game and the auto saves are not always as plentiful as I like them to be.
Another minor one, but on the cluster/system map it was kind of cool to see the transition of flying from one planet/system to another the first time but it gets tiresome on the 500th time. At this point I'd rather it be faster so I didn't have to wait for the animation every time.
All in all I feel like there is a good game somewhere in all of this, but it's ultimately being hamstrung by a myriad of technical issues and some very odd design decisions. I definitely like the game, but from what I'm seeing when it's all said and done I suspect that I wont like it as much as any game in the original trilogy which are among my favourite games of all time.

I'm with you, man. I agree with everything you're saying here. And I'm not sure what people are looking for (desperately needing?) from this game regarding story/dialogue/voice acting, but it's definitely on par with TV shows like Star Trek, Stargate, etc. They may not win any awards, but they're -fun-. And that's the feel I'm getting from this game. Like a fun interactive sci-fi tv show. And that's -my- 2 cents.

Ditto. The more I play and get into the story the more I like it. I love how your decisions shape the galaxy around you and you see changes you made as you revisit old places.

I had a good post to this but mod moved before I could save and my text was lost. suffice to say I am playing the hell outta this game and love it. I have 36 hours in SP and a level 10 soldier in MP. even though there are bugs the basic gameplay is very enjoyable. I'm hooked.

And you are not alone in your love, OP! I was ready to hate this game from the start. I was the first to call it a money grab, overusing franchise and laziness. I now I can tell - happy to be wrong!
CC is still a sore sport for me - I hate it with a passion. My Raider is good looking but so is any Raider using that preset - it's 1 out of 2 usable (ok, 3 but I did not want Asian Raider for that PT no matter how gorgeous she is). But that problem aside - it's what _I_ wanted from ME1 and could not get - game where exploring and sidetracking make sense.
I could never understand Skyrim. Magical Medieval simulator? Could be good if only what you do there could change anything around (not to mention ridiculous plot that has nothing to do with the actual game). And now for the first time I see an open world that actually truly works. It's the whole point of the game - to explore that world. Plus, you get a coherent plot and great characters to keep you company!
Love it!

I didn't play the previous MEs because I'm not a fan of futuristic games, but before MEA was even released someone on these forums said that it was DAI in space, and I happen to think DAI is one of the top 10 games of the last 10-15 years, so I bought MEA yesterday. And it's good. Very good.
In terms of all the complaints: I thought the CC was fine, although it's true that it is worse than DAI. I also think that the graphics are great. The world itself is beautiful. The cinematic animation is somewhat weak, and I don't like that it's not full screen (I'm on an ultra wide), but it's acceptable. And the writing, particularly the dialog, is weak in parts and overall definitely worse than DAI, but I mean, are you expecting a masterpiece every single release? Even Shakespeare didn't knock it out of the park every time. Ease up on the salt.
So, overall, it probably doesn't make my top ten list, but it's a good game. Everything that is being cried about on these forums (by what is probably a vocal minority--I see people with multiple threads bashing it and the same legion of 10-20 disgruntled neckbeards liking every negative post) is pretty overblown. The CC and animation isn't _that_ bad and the "fetch" quests are perfectly fine. I wouldn't call it "open world" per se, but I see a lot of people doing so in comparison with the previous ME games, so maybe in that respect it is--I wouldn't know. A lot of people, including me, like open world, and for what it does, this game does it very well.
Anyway, I just wanted to balance out some of the negativity, but I realize that I am probably trying to desalinate the ocean here.
Game on.

I'm liking it much more now that I have a full squad and can leave Liam and Cora behind, especially Liam, who has the worst banter and is the most boring ever, even worse than Kaidan in ME1.

That sounds good. What about convos with NPC's and the VA? I assume the animations disrupt it at times? you can combine biotic, and tech no problem, but think fast by VA you meain voice acting? it's great, only thing is some words not syncronized to mouth animations Conversations and interactions with NPC's and whether the immersion holds well or not with that. Yeah, I meant voice acting.

I went into the game with moderate expectations and generally optimistic. So far, the game has met my expectations, but I've only just arrived at Kadara Port. I've only played one loyalty mission and I enjoyed it as much as several parts of the Citadel DLC. Have I encountered my share of glitches? Oh yeah, but I haven't encountered anything that didn't fix itself shortly thereafter. Plus, games of this size and glitches go hand-in-hand, like backwards flying dragons in Skyrim or the Werewolf who fell through the ground in Witcher 3.
The game is very broad and your goal of finding a new home is never fully overtaken by stopping the Kett. They're an obstacle, but there's no pressure to defeat them ASAP. The combat is also enjoyable. I really enjoy taking on Kett bases because it results in a challenging and satisfying fight, which my inner Krogan loves.
So yeah, I like Andromeda so far. It's not perfect, but I wasn't expecting it to be.

I'm liking the game but the save thing is annoying on some missions and the work around doesn't seem to work for me. The combat is great, especially now I have got the hang of respec and profile switching. You get enough points to easily cover two different set ups at least (maybe more) and it's a lot more fun. My character is an Adept and a Vanguard, I actually do switch between the two in a lot of fights because I can pick off the unshielded enemies with biotic combos and then switch to vanguard to smash the shielded enemies. I'm playing in Normal at the moment so I don't know if that would work for harder difficulties tho. The characters are really growing on me, they are all a lot more normal (with the exception of Gil who seems like a cliche and is becoming a bit irritating tbh). Before I played the game I read in a preview that bashed the characters and specifically said Drack was a really one dimensional character and my response was "typical bioware making the same Krogan over and over" but now I have played I totally disagree with that sentiment. Drack may tick all the Krogan badass, lewd jokes combat oriented boxes but he also has a whole other side to him that is a lot more personal, something we haven't ever seen from a Krogan characters before. I won't go into it too much but both him and Vetra seem to have very personal stories rather than the "badass" cliche of both their races. To be fair maybe that changes later on I am still not that far into the game. If anything I think some fans want the characters to be more one dimensional, they want them to be cool and stand out in a specific way so they can be like your bro squad or whatever. I am not saying that was all there is in the trilogy or that it was bad, but I don't think the characters here are bad either, just a different approach this time. The Nexus leaders get more interesting later on too, even Addison I am growing to enjoy how unpleasant she is and I actually really like Tann and Kesh as characters. Side quests, some of them are pretty good but most are crap. I wish Bioware would just cut all that stuff and develop the actually good quests more. You don't need to fill the maps. Just space out the quests a bit, it's still gonna justify the space. That said it's a lot better than it was in Inquisition. The main story I am still not sure about, it hasn't really gotten going yet I guess but the game doesn't seem to have much direction. So all in all I quite like it.

I find the game draws me in as the old Bioware magic games use to. But there again, the tires go flat when it comes to cut scenes, and I feel myself becoming embarrassed as my associates look to me for direction, and there I am, in full Technicolor, a hideous fish-mouthed gofer, gimongous blood shot eyeballs poking from my misshaped head, a head draped in wool and straw.
I just want to bury my head in shame.

Im 10 hours in and i love this game. This is pure Mass Effect. :-) IKR? From the rich character creator, to the chaotic gamey combat with no ability to use squad abilities and bad features like pause (you all know that nobody used that), to the brilliant writing and presentation, to the deep and meaningful dialogue. It's a dream come true.

So far the game is an assortment of " love this" , " *swearwords* @ BW " , " boring" , " how neat" , "argh" , " lovely" and so on.
I can live with the glaring eyes, the no save possibility , the sucking CC BUT i'm disappointed in the dialogues . Some of them show a glimpse of depth but otherwise it's of an unimaginative after school movie level.
And it has nothing to do with the big narrative which has potential, but for example having a giggly little postmortem on the Tempest after the first Vault was a bit disheartening to hear. There should have been far more elaborate questions, thoughts, speculations about their whole experience down there. Anyway, maybe it'll pick up.
Scanning is a bit slow due to the animation of the probes moving from one planet to the other, but visually very lush . I don't mind it. Graphically i find the game quite beautiful ( well not so much " Western Approach Eos" but desert is desert i suppose, at least the Nomad goes fast ) .
/edit
ah and combat is good. Dynamic , the visual effects of powers are great, weapons are very low level right now, so i'll refrain from commenting on that.
i need to hit the MP now.

Besides having a blast playing, of course I also have things I would like to get patched in. Nothing new, but these two are my priorities: F5 quick saves and getting in and out of the map instantly with one button (avoiding the double ESC through the menu we have to use now).

I've said a few times now but wow I am so impressed with Andromeda! I actually played through that starting world three times and I kept finding new things I had missed. I just love all the optional exploration!
The game essentially brings everything I loved from ME1 and makes it better. I'm not even particularly concerned with the cc limitations - I managed to make my Ryder how I imagined her so that was me happy!
Really just hoping that they get decent sales, enough that we can still look forward to some amazing dlc of new planets, new races etc. in the future. I'm going to be playing this for a long time either way!

I'm about 40 hours into the game, and I just wanted to come here and tell everyone how much I'm enjoying it. First of all, I'm loving the skills configuration. Having a blast mixing different skills with others and seeing how well the work together is so much fun. I've done a ton of side quests and have enjoyed every single one of them. Every character I've met along the way has been interesting and I'm looking forward to meeting more! The story is decent enough to still have me excited after 40 hours of gameplay and I enjoy taking breaks from the main mission to just explore and enjoy the game in general. There's lots of things to do beside the main story, and I'm even enjoying gathering materials to craft better gear for myself. Squadmates are easily up there with past Mass Effect games, especially the non-human ones. Drack and Peebee are my favourite so far, but all of them get swapped into my team each time I go to another planet because I like the team banter. Cora and Peebee especially have great banter going on between them. Despite the lack of emotion in their faces during cut scenes and conversations, I find myself caring a lot about all of my squadmates and crew. Their loyalty missions and little quests on the side are excellent and are probably the best loyalty missions throughout all Mass Effect games, in my opinion. The game is absolutely stunning - even on not so great graphic settings. I had my doubts about this game like a lot of other people, especially since I'm such a big Mass Effect fan. However, I have to say that please don't let the facial animations be the only thing stopping you from playing this fantastic game. I'm already planning future playthroughs, and I'm excited to see what happens with other choices my Ryder picks.
