Determining a game's financial 'success' is pretty shoddy guesswork at best unless EA wants to come right out and tell us how it did. I'm not sure how helpful that info would even be.
Problem is this is EA. If its a success they stay the course, maybe cut a little off the top even, next time around to try and improve profit margins. If its not they cut deeply and try to push out something to get what they can out of the brand. If its a failure they shutter the doors.
No matter how it did financially it doesn't mean anything good for us the players.

Guys there are other countries out there, but I doubt Zimbabwe and North Korea are buying a lot of MEA copies There's also this continent called Europe, which might be smaller in landmass than the USA, but also has about double the population.

Sales are expected given the echo chamber of negativity and the crusades of anti-SJW dudebros.
Even with the games' flaws, Bioware was being savaged before the game even released.

Yeah, if you add up all of Europe, but really we're talking about the more prosperous ones, like Germany, France, and the UK, which added together are still less in population than the US, you can keep throwing in countries but the fact of the matter is that the US dominates video game sales, with a few exceptions such as Japan (though I doubt MEA sells well in the land of the rising sun)

Hello, Mass Effect Battlefiled! Yup. I totally see it. Forget single-player campaign. First game: Play as the coalition force that is trying to stop the Reaper threat on Earth DLC 1: Play as the Krogan who almost genocide the Arachni DLC 2: Play as the Turian or Human in the First Contact War DLC 3: Play as the Hanar and Elcor against waves upon waves of Vorcha and their evil Volus commanders. See where I'm going with this?

I am worried this means we won't get another game :/ I'll bet that EA intends to keep ME around for a while.

Feels good though - sales SHOULD be down based on what was offered. I know that upsets you, buts it's ok - hopefully this means Andromeda 2 will be a lot better. Honestly, it seems unrealistic to expect it to do terribly well considering what was released. If games like that start selling well at release, then I think I'll stick to retro-gaming.

and from that chart the US alone is as big as Europe, the ME, and Africa put together.....

Yeah, Bioware needs to hit it out of the park with MEA2. The marketing for that game needs to be better, too, to show that the game has improved vastly over its predecessor. Andromeda has laid out a good foundation for the future of the game to work with and grow on. They definitely can even though the old lot are not really around and this seems to be a newer crew. They can learn from MEA and the DLCs and lay down a good foundation for MEA 2. I still remember the pain of DA 2 it was terrible. Almost every wrong choice was made compared to DAO. But and i know some don't see it but DAI was just mind blowing compared to DA 2 but it still had issues. Alot of things were learnt from the past and it set a good foundation. Now they will take what was learnt from DAI for DAI 2. The last DLC of DAI was sooo good it was a glimpse into the next game almost. I believe in the same for MEA 2 as long as we remind them of what works and what really doesn't. I.E Unable to board the tempest while on the planet. Then they just need to show they Learnt from past mistakes instead of hiding from them or denying them. I think this newer crew can do it if they are given the chance to. They already got their feet wet working on this game and need the chance to show that the experience they acquired has been valuable and the future of the series would benefit from that. I actually liked DA2 a lot more than some and wish it had gotten the longer development cycle it needed. Inquisition was a weak game for me (one of my least liked Bioware titles, actually), but they did have to learn a new engine and, I suspect, re-write some of their plans due to feedback over 2. I didn't think the story was really good (just average) until the scene after the credits rolled. Trespasser was a good DLC, though. The future of that series intrigues me as I think it could have the strongest narrative and villain setup for Dragon Age yet. I think, if this studio is given the power to continue on with ME, they could very likely make a damn good game. I'm just worried how they will respond to criticisms and "fan ideas". Truth be told, I think Bioware is horrendous about going overboard with implementing what fans want (or what they think they want); not to mention not all fan beliefs and ideas unify nor does it always serve to strengthen a game. They need to be smart about what they do and have a strong vision from the team.

hah. Both Zelda and Ghost Recon released far, far earlier in March than MEA. The Eurogamer article states that MEA is the second best seller in the series behind ME3 and actual sales figures haven't been released. So, no. Not a "confirmation". What's been confirmed is that clickbait titles are still a thing.

Although I agree it's a disappointment, you people seem to enjoy watching one of your favourite franchises get destroyed instead of trying to make it better

I bet their radio silence on social media is due to internal changes of planning. Their intended DLC plan probably won't pan out now that the game needs both fixing and hasn't lived up to the sales estimate.

I doubt they're only going to look at the sales numbers from U.S. sales when deciding they met their sales projections. The article says, specifically, those numbers are from U.S. sales. Edit to add, the article also only tracks U.S. revenue for March. That excludes Canada for North American sales. Compare those sales to ME3 sales then - 890k within 24 hours of release in the US. Andromeda might reach that in its entire 2 week March run. gamerant.com/mass-effect-3-sales-ea-benk-137689/As I said, MEA has the second biggest sales in its launch month in the series. Even more than ME2. ME3 sold the most in it's first month. That's in the Eurogamer article you posted so prominently. Also, that's monthly revenue for March, most likely U.S. retail. It doesn't mention the impact of pre-order's on the sales numbers.

I don't think China does either, but that's not the point. The point is that these figures show only a portion of the market and excludes most, so arguing from these figures alone that the game is a 'confirmed financial disappointment' is a stretch.

Can't believe sales untill EA speaks on it. Don't care if it's the best selling one or the worst unless it's coming from the only source that actually holds the data.
You people are doing nothing but speculating but at least it's entertaining.
