The multiplayer doesn't sound like it'll be very successful judging by what I've read. That's supposedly the cash cow, isn't it?

Kind of shame the amount of fake news, down right lies, and memes-as-fact are probably what sunk this game. If the salrs numbers are accurate

I'm surprised that Ghost Recon sold very well. So was I, but it does have three things going for it. 1) First major FPS of the year. 2) Tom Clancy name being a part of it. 3) Was released on all consoles sans the Wii early in the month, vs late in the month. It's narrative is hot garbage, but open world apparently is popular enough to push it through.

That figure only covers US sales though, doesn't it?
If they sold 1.3m in the US I'm sure they made at least 3.0m sales globally.

hah.
Both Zelda and Ghost Recon released far, far earlier in March than MEA. The Eurogamer article states that MEA is the second best seller in the series behind ME3 and actual sales figures haven't been released.
So, no. Not a "confirmation".

So they expected to sell 50% of their projected lifetime sales in just a few days? Seems legit... Either they were too confident in the final product (LOL) or they just thought sales will ride the MET popularity wave.

So let me get this straight:
These numbers exclude all digital sales on PC, so pretty much every copy sold on PC. These numbers only include digital sales for the USA. Now, this might be a shocker, but there's a lot more countries on this world than just the USA.
I'm glad for you that you felt really happy for a while though.

I doubt they're only going to look at the sales numbers from U.S. sales when deciding they met their sales projections. The article says, specifically, those numbers are from U.S. sales. Edit to add, the article also only tracks U.S. revenue for March. That excludes Canada for North American sales.

The fact that it didn't beat me3s first month sales is interesting. Mind you i am sure that MEA 2 when ever that is launched. It will probably be heavily impacted by MEA release state and final product heavily. MEA might of sold ok on the Mass Effect title and new start. But people may not be over amped to jump into the next one. Yeah, Bioware needs to hit it out of the park with MEA2. The marketing for that game needs to be better, too, to show that the game has improved vastly over its predecessor. Andromeda has laid out a good foundation for the future of the game to work with and grow on. They definitely can even though the old lot are not really around and this seems to be a newer crew. They can learn from MEA and the DLCs and lay down a good foundation for MEA 2. I still remember the pain of DA 2 it was terrible. Almost every wrong choice was made compared to DAO. But and i know some don't see it but DAI was just mind blowing compared to DA 2 but it still had issues. Alot of things were learnt from the past and it set a good foundation. Now they will take what was learnt from DAI for DAI 2. The last DLC of DAI was sooo good it was a glimpse into the next game almost. I believe in the same for MEA 2 as long as we remind them of what works and what really doesn't. I.E Unable to board the tempest while on the planet. Then they just need to show they Learnt from past mistakes instead of hiding from them or denying them.

What about cancellations and refunds? Is that in the mix? Also, what about Origin Access? A lot of people did this to get some time into the game. That has to count as well.
Anyway, I hope for the best in Montreal and Edmonton. Montreal is a tough town to find high-paying jobs and Edmonton is pretty bleak by my standards. A lot of these folks are the ones in danger of losing their jobs. Not the incredibly bad, f***ing stupid decision makers that run parallel with Bioware and EA. Forget about gifted writing and professional voice acting. Forget about paying employees to run their own forums. Forget about having a port that isn't broken at release. It's done. The new IPs is where Bioware is going and I really hope they knock it out of the ballpark. Fuggedaboutit.

I think comparing games that were released 2-3 weeks before MEA is unfair. MEA had about 1 week in March for sales, whereas HZD had the entire month, BOTW almost the entire month, and GR:W had 3.5 weeks. That just seems wrong to compare those numbers. I mean if you want to twist facts around to support your narrative, that's fine. You can feel comfy and cozy in your hate-bubble surrounded by your sales numbers for MEA and your statistics of the increase in childhood vaccines and autism. If you want to actually get real data and make real correlations sometime, I look forward to it.

It becomes a failure when EA declares it. When they say Andromeda sold below expectations at their next financial report, then I will say you may have a point. Until then, this is chicken little stuff.

Here's total sales for the trilogy. Looks like PC represents the smallest segment by far. Seeing as EA continues to base their estimates (3m first week) on that data, I don't think digital has made up that huge difference in sales. Plus, Origin sales would be WAY less than Steam sales. Feels good though - sales SHOULD be down based on what was offered. I know that upsets you, buts it's ok - hopefully this means Andromeda 2 will be a lot better. www.vgchartz.com/article/250066/mass-effect-a-sales-history/

It's very likey the game will be off EA's expectations, but this thread and OP confirm nothing. NPD is US data, not worldwide. May as well change the thread title again OP to "in my opinion", a fact it is not

Alot of the sales of MEA were based on the Mass Effect name. If anything im sure they will rake in more than expected.
It's not this game you need to worry about......
It's the next one MEA 2 might be affected sale wise based on MEA. Unless they can show that what happened with MEA won't be a repeat.
Mind you MEA is still a good foundation for a new trilogy. But not all of us have patience to accept trial and error patching for them.
I didn't hesitate to pre order collector edition and spend $260 ( Australian ).
MEA 2 i intend to hold back a few weeks and not pre order already based on what happened so far.
