MA:E was the third highest seller for March. Zelda was 2nd, and sold 1.3m. So that means in two weeks, ME:A sold LESS than 1.3m. EA expected to sell 3m in ONE week. ME:A was projected to sell 30-50% of its total in its first week. If we are being optimistic, and say that ME:A sold 1.2m - that means it will sell UNDER 4m during it's lifespan (if we use the 30% example). If it sells 1.2m, and this represents 50% of its sales, it will sell 2.4m (although this could be much less if Andromeda sold far less than Zelda).

Reviews, as much as you might disagree with them, matter hugely - and clearly had a massive effect on Andromeda's sales totals.

TLDR: Andromeda is likely going to sell anywhere from 2-4m copies, total.

EDIT: INCLUDES digital sales for console but NOT for Origin.

EDIT: Yes, this is a disappointment even though it's only US numbers. Mass Effect 3 sold 890k in its first 24 HOURS ALONE. It looks like Andromeda MIGHT have reached that in 2 weeks.

It is below the expectations of 3 million, but that doesn't mean a commercial failure just yet. It becomes one if EA is not happy with the sales overall. What they expected is one thing, what they ultimately get is another.

It's also not taking into account other revenue streams, such as multiplayer, although the initial 3 million in expectations is likely not included in that.

Frankly, if they hit 3-4 million that's likely enough of a success for EA.

ETA: Or breaking even as well.

However, while I'm happy that there was a financial penalty for releasing the game in the state it was in, I still hope that there aren't any knee jerk reactions as usual where they remove entire things from the game rather than trying to fix them.

The report where Andromeda is below Zelda and its 1.3 million units is US only. EA predictions are worldwide. While total sales still might have missed the mark, the numbers have to be much closer to the 3 million prediction.

Gamespot today listed a weekly sales for Australia and New Zealand. GTA V, which has been out for 3+ years sold better then MEA which was listed at like 8th best sales for the week. Its a lot more then just site reviews. Forums like this one and I am guessing word of mouth have been really bad over all.

I would think EA would learn their lessons but that is how they do business. Buy a popular game franchise and then milk it for every dime they can, running it into the ground in the process.
