Not totally related to the thread, but kinda is. I know people hate EA because they're just suits and whatever, but you can't blame a game's lack of quality entirely on them. They had 5 years, 1 confirmed delay, and I remember people speculating about a second that was probably in there. At some point the game has to come out. Like, if a band hit the recording studio wanted a year studio time to record the album, and then another year to produce, you couldn't really blame the label if they said "no fuck that. We're not paying for two years worth of studio time and people who work on it. You said you could do it in 6 months, max we'll give you is 9" is entirely reasonable. The money you're given needs to be paid back at some point. Point the fingers at Bioware internally. They were likely the ones who initially said "We can hit Q3 of the fiscal year for sure" that set the fiscal expectation, ok'd and directed a lot of the design decisions, literally lied about features, didn't say "No, we literally cannot do this" etc. I doubt it was EA that led to writers and producers leaving mid-production. Well you are kinda right, 5 years is a long time. I question the decision to throw the game at Bioware Montreal as they are clearly the worst team of Bioware, working on the then flagship franchise it seems as the best they can do is a fun co-op multiplayer and combat oriented DLCs like Omega. It seems clear that EA gave them a checklist of stuff to hit for the game, and they just hit it without alot of competence. I loved omega so.....

I am going to be laughing my ass off when the sales do come out, and it turns out they made more then enough that they are already started to make ME5. Also, the mp is bring is big bucks already. I already spent about 200 on it, and I plan to spend more. Plus there are some who already spent over $500, so they will get their money one way or another. Reminds me of SW:TOR. It was a running joke in my guild how many bugs that game had and years later it makes quite the profit through micro transactions. The MP alone will make ME:A a financial success. Micro-Transactions.... there is where you make the big bucks not some hard-copy of a game. A couple of years and no one is going to buy a hard copy in a store anymore.

Bioware's new IP is going to be a multiplayer game isn't it. Gotta cash in! Go EA! Won't even need a story for that sort of game.

I've heard off a sauce that sales are so bad EA are having to partner with Nintendo to make the next game on the Nintendo Switch. Obviously Nintendo are having their say in this and will only do it if Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad and Dry Bones are considered as squadmates and that it is set in the Super Mario Galaxy which is the galaxy second furthest from the Milky Way. Personally I don't know why my bottle of Tomato Sauce is telling me this, I think the mushrooms I've just eaten were a little off I'm going to go lie down on this giant Banana in the corner goodnight.

Nah it'll be fine. Game quality has only been going down in the last 10 years or so. Very few games are really deserving of an 8-9 yet mediocre games get that rating all the time. Have to face it, having quality come first is really in the past until things hit rock bottom. Some of the best games now are really coming from indie developers. The only issue with that is they lack funds which sometimes hurts the graphical department.

You do realize that if this game doesn't do well, then that would only decrease the quality of their next game right? They would receive less confidence that their next game will do well; therefore, have a lower budget thus lower resources to make a great game. If it's about learning their lesson, then instead of these "I hope Andromeda fails so hard" and all these other doom and gloom comments, what people should be doing is offering constructive feedback that they could actually use to make the game better. Just my 2 cents. You do realize that if the game does well, the next game would be with the exact same quality if not lower? EA is not above cynically abusing the player base and a large chunk of the BW staff who created DA:O and ME2 is gone. Some devs learn from the shortcomings of a successful game, this is not the case. And yeah, Mass Effect at this rate for me it's pretty much over (unless they hand the IP to Obsidian or something), I just want the next game will it be the new IP or DA4 to be great. I love the Bioware style RPGs when they play to their strengths. I like this game but.... This is my concern as well. There is a lot to genuinely like but theres just as much if not more that was terrible. If they get an overly rosey picture from the rest of us they'll do it again. The game threw out too much of what made Mass Effect, Mass Effect. After five years it wasn't finished and looks like it was rebuilt at the last minute. Its just not up to todays standards and that should be unforgivable. They did a lot that we asked of them and some really great work went into sections of this. But I can't see myself getting excited about future games by BioWare knowing this is what we'll likely get. Combat driven, open world TPS, with restrictions on RPG elements outside of combat, designed to compliment the MP experience. I like it a lot. But damn man I feel like I'm playing Halo v Mass Effect with a dash of Destiny. And its hard to get motivated about future installments of Andromeda when thats the case.

What I hope is, like it or hate it, that Bioware keeps making these kinds of games, not just getting out and doing clones of other games. They have a special brand or type of game they do best, character driven games, and I'd really hate for them to stop just cause this game flops.Sure, there's room for improvement, but in 10 hours I felt like Mass Effect Andromeda was more like ME1. slower paced, explorable not linear. Characters seem interesting, will know more as I go on obviously. There is some sloppiness in the details, but some may remember some weird stuff in Witcher 3 like Geralt's hair flying apart from his head or falling through the map, Roach bugs (flying, yay!) . . . So, no game comes out perfect AAA title or not. Why this game is the one with all the flak, I just hope it doesn't cause Bioware to say screw it, we'll just make racing games, fighter clones, whatever. BioWare hasn't produced a decent character driven game in decades.

Sure, that's what we need, the only RPG with choices of protagonist and a squad in the last many years to fail, so that the companies lean their lesson. MOAR sports and mobile games! No more RPG stuff, it's too risky of an investment. If you decide to go for one, make sure it's a a fixed protagonist and a transcript of a popular novel. Preferably verbatim. Yep, we are all going be so happy with this outcome. Sarcasim Revived. And Livid as it should be.

This would probably provide more of a directive to focus on MP and making somekind of MP/MMO/MOBA. DAI was originally planned as a Dragon Age MMO of sorts until they turned it back towards SP with a shit tier MP mode. So an MMO type game is already on Bioware's radar for one of their major properties. If individual copy sales come under, but the MP revenue performs well I honestly wouldn't be surprised if things moved to an MP focus in the future.

It will be selling just fine - that's why review embargoes are a thing; delay the start of the critical discussion around a game until it's in people's hands.
There are many people who have bought Andromeda who were either going to buy it regardless of reviews, or don't pay attention to reviews regardless.
Sales won't be a problem.
Knowing EA however, they'll be quite tight lipped regarding actual numbers and dollars. They tend not to openly release that stuff unless pressed by some other report.

There are rumours that Dry Bones will be trans but my sauce again says that they will cut out the dialogue last minute just to piss people off. Oh and no nudity in sex scenes. Japan will get 17 skimpy outfits for Peach though.

No clue. You could track www.vgchartz.com - but that only has physical copies and it takes a while to update. They are still on February right now. So we'll have to wait and see. I am guessing 5 million during the first year, maybe 6 lifetime. The negative press will affect sales. Still it will probably do as well as Inquisition. Yeah, let's see if they add financial bankruptcy to their bankruptcy of talent.

At this point, MEA is a good game, but BW fans' standards are so high that it falls short for some of them. Personally, I will buy it in the first price drop. MEA has a 74 Metacritic score, not quite good even by the "professional" reviewers standards. Anything below 8 is usually considered a flop, at least where AAA-games are concerned.

Seriously can we stop sucking the **** of reviewers who give a biased opinion? It's funny to me how before this the internet was shouting how reviews don't matter, and now they're God's gift to man. It would have a much higher metacritic review if "gamesbeat, and the daily dot"(never heard of her), hadn't given it a 50. Every other review is 70-95, which means it would be sitting at a decent 80 average.
