While I agree that neither the Maltese Falcon (or Casablanca) are the best movies Bogie made, I am and forever will be a fan of his for the Treasure of Sierra Madre. That movie imo is the only one (and that includes The African Queen) to really give a true measure of Bogie's talent as an actor. His development of greed and paranoia in that movie is, again imo, one of the great acts in cinema history. I will happily give Bogart Treasure of the Sierra Madre, which I count as his best film (and is criminally undervalued to my mind).

First Video Game: Pong First Computer Game: Cave Adventure a/k/a Adventure I think I'm the oldest here. Do I a) cry bore people senseless with stories of my youth c) bake something or d) yell at you youngsters to get off the lawn? I had Pong also...when we got it, I had 3 kids, 4 and under!

I just had to comment on the nostalgia in this thread. Oh my heavens, the memories!
Will you all be my friends? I have a lovely huge porch with plenty of rockers on it. And a hose at each chair for those pesky kids!

And a hose at each chair for those pesky kids! It seems your rockers did the job as everybody fell asleep... Nobody left to use the hose on those pesky kids... Think I am going to take a nap, too... Sweet rocker...

Emphatically liked for the bold section. I used to think I was a Bogart fan, but then I realized I was more accurately a Sydney Greenstreet/Claude Rains/Lauren Bacall (and yes, Peter Lorre) fan, while tollerating Bogart in his scenes with them. I will forever be grateful to Bogart, however, for introducing me to that era of films, and the dialogue in The Maltese Falcon is spectacular. I have to admit I've never sat through a Humphrey Bogart movie, or Clark Gable or Cary Grant...that I know of. My mom was Charlton Heston/Yul Brennar fan so I watched things like The Ten Commandments, West World, The Omega Man, The Planet of the Apes, Earthquake, The King and I, Soylent Green and so on. My sister is the Silver screen buff in my family and could give you a critique on all of that, me, I'd rather watch Godzilla vs. the Thing because cheesy giant lizards and moths/caterpillars are my thing.

It doesn't matter what era it's from, silent to contemporary, if it's really good or laughably bad, I want to see it (with the exception of one or two genres). I haven't watched as much in the last few years though (er, decade... dammit), and likely the majority of what I've seen was on VHS.

It is pretty cool to see how much movie special effects have changed over the years and I like to do comparisons. All those old horror movie I saw as a kid and I think about how they scared the adults back then?? I wonder how those folks back then would've felt about what we have now, had what we have now been the first movies they'd ever seen. There is a curtain classiness the older shows had, that todays shows lack but today's shows are more realistic and graphic. I don't know, I know what you mean about loving movies though.

I was aware of the term "Totes my goats", is there any relation to just "Goat?"

Those of us in our early forties are probably the first generation to grow up with home computers. For those who are a little older, how did you come to gaming? I had my first ZX Spectrum clone when I was 24. My first games were Alien 8, Knight Lore and Everyone's a Wally. After 30 came my first PC with the Ultima series, Monkey Island and from there... What kind of PC did you have first? Monkey Island : How many episodes did you play? While I agree that neither the Maltese Falcon (or Casablanca) are the best movies Bogie made, I am and forever will be a fan of his for the Treasure of Sierra Madre. That movie imo is the only one (and that includes The African Queen) to really give a true measure of Bogie's talent as an actor. I watched a lot of movies from Raoul Walsh, John Ford, Howard Hawks,(another yet ), and others I forgot. My Dad is responsible, I discovered some gems the cinema has created by his side while watching TV. But why do not tell us about some horror movies you consider the best? Did you saw the frenkenstein movies? (stupid question) I wanna say yes because you seem so excited about it, but honestly, no I haven't. I did play Sonic games on the Sega though. First videogame I ever played. Does it was on the megadrive? and what was the games you remind the most on this console? ....... cheese surrender monkeys...tss tsss tsss..

On Sega Mega Drive yeah, 90's kid. Fond memories of playing Mortal Kombat, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Ristar. Played a few Disney titles too (Aladdin, Lion King) Oh there are others but then I'll just be rambling. Bought the Sega Mega Drive collection on PS3, play it now and again whenever I need a lil dose of nostalgia. Oh, and I'd sit through a French class taught by Groundskeeper Willie tbh.

Talking in the BSN couples thread about using dial-up internet 15 years ago, and thinking how soon after we switched to DSL broadband, coupled with the knowledge that people rarely remember much from before the age of about five, led me to the realisation that there are now adults who have no memory of this sound:
