I think my Eos preset is linked on an earlier page if anyone wants to take a look at it. I'm tweaking settings pretty heavily for each new location at the moment. I try to get something relatively neutral as a baseline for each map, and then I mess around with a few different shaders on a per shot basis. Sometimes it can take me 20 minutes or more of tweaking for just one shot... that I never end up putting online because I decide I don't like it after the fact Just a heads up - I'm going to add a new rule to the OP that I should have added to begin with but I completely forgot because it's obvious to me but I realise it may not be obvious to others: no photoshop or other post-processing in an external program. The whole point is what we can achieve in the game itself - that's the skill.

I've spent about 5 hours in-game tonight, and I've met Reyes, met Sloane... and that's it. The rest of the time was spent screenshot hunting, and I ended up with 4 or 5 I actually like.

There are many beautiful shots in this thread! Hopefully those whose Notifications I've flooded with "Likes" don't mind. I thought this game supposedly didn't look nice?

just a week ago I finally got the courage to start messing with SRWE, makes it pretty fun. Took a few shots with a few Reshade 3.0 presets from Nexus Mods, and the DOF actually worked for some shots like the one below, but doesn't anymore so I'm currently trying to downgrade to 2.0.3 and that's... trying. Never used the Assistant before.

Welcome to the thread I don't use the assistant (or mediator for other versions). I find it a lot easier to install manually and then edit everything in Notepad++. Maybe give that a go if you're finding the assistant a bit awkward or fiddly.

Thank you, I did ditch the Assistant last night because it was being very buggy and snooped around your Eos preset manually, but it's going to be awhile before I know what I'm doing. Big fan of your shots btw! I've followed you for quite a long time on tumblr Anyway, back to more shots! aaand my favorite subject matter

I never used the Mediator when I was using ReShade 1.1.0 because the shaders seemed to be laid out more intuitively. But with 2.0, they began being organized by author, rather than by group...which boggled my gourd. So now I use the Assistant and it's not so bad. I've created a few different profiles and it's pretty neat to be able to switch things up on the fly without having to open up separate settings files...and it looks like with the Assistant, I can just keep it on my desktop and keep multiple profiles from multiple games, without having to switch them out manually. The only thing I can't stand about the Assistant is that the shaders are not alphabetical, so I have to hunt and peck for them until I get to be familiar with where they are in the list.

what program do you all use to actually take the screenshot? from what i gather, ReShade's screengrab function applies your monitor's resolution. as does good old PrtScrn.
i game in my living room, and my rig is set up to use my TV as the monitor. while i love my TV, and its 70" screen, it's still only 1080, and not a proper PC gaming monitor. so, which program (other than Ansel) will grab the shots i want at the resolution i designate?

I use MSI Afterburner because it's the only one I found that would capture the whole screen when resized with SRWE, and also capture Reshade effects. Before that I used irfanview and sometimes the Windows 10 game bar. Reshade's own screenshot feature doesn't work for me in this game.

In the 2nd post in the thread I link to Bandicam, which is a free program that will capture both hotsampled resolution and ReShade's effects. If you have reason to use it with Ansel's freecam instead of the Cinematic Tools, it won't capture Ansel's overlay. It will, however, capture ReShade's text in the top left corner, so if you hotsample you'll have to wait for that to disappear before you hit your screenshot key. You can save in bmp or png, and you can change the hotkey as well as the path you save your screenshots to. The problem with ReShade in ME:A seems to be it won't capture an image properly at all, and outputs a black or pink screen instead. It usually works just fine in most other games, and will capture hotsampled resolutions as well.

Nvidia Ansel only works for GTX cards. It worked for me in Andromeda with a GTX 1060. However, the best way to take screenshots is to refer yourself to the very first post of this topic where every tool is explained.
PS: I'm struggling with SRWE so hard, either I'm doing things right but for some reason when I apply a profile I can't move the camera around anymore, or I'm still clueless af.

Wait...I've seen a couple of you mention using Ansel, yet I can't get mine to work with Mass Effect. Any pointers on how to get it working? I advise avoiding Ansel altogether because a) it breaks some of the game's post-processing and the scene will look flat and fake, and its camera is very restrictive and you'll not be able to get the best composition possible with it. The second post in the thread details the camera tools that work best with the game. However, there are occasions where Ansel can be useful (for shots on the Tempest, for example, where the Cinematic Tools won't work). To open Ansel you press alt+F2. It goes without saying you need the latest NVIDIA game ready driver.

You should still be able to move just fine (although obviously if you're hotsampling at high resolutions you won't be able to see all the scene, and your fps will make it look like a slideshow). I'll sort out a quick tutorial on using it just in case.

The new patch lets you choose dof quality, but more importantly lets you turn off motion blur in the menu rather than having to edit a user.cfg file. I haven't tested it yet, but that's a good addition (they said they were looking into it).
Looks like they've made a huge improvement to the eye textures. All it needed was smaller pupils and shading at the top of the eye, and thankfully that's what they've done. Everyone looks a lot better now.
I haven't downloaded the patch yet. For those of you who have - are the Cinematic Tools still working? (You may get an error message saying the version numbers don't match, but that doesn't necessarily impact performance.)

MelissaGT - some of your shots don't show up for me in this thread. I see them usually when you first post them, like the Liam portraits, but then they're replaced with the standard flickr "image no longer available" white square. I wonder is anyone else seeing this? Is it a problem with permissions, or reuploading a version so the file name changes?

i too would love it if the CT worked in the Tempest. but have some Ansel shots on the ship from when i first played the trial: crisp and all. but yeah, superresolution is superflat.

You can still use SRWE with Ansel's freecam, so you can get hi-res hotsampled shots at other aspect ratios. If I do have to use Ansel, I use it just as a freecam, and don't use it to take the final picture with super-resolution. And of course, you can use ReShade to add SSAO or whichever other kind of AO you prefer back into the image, but it's less noticeable on the Tempest because of the deep shadows anyway. The biggest problem imo is that the camera is so restrictive. Fingers crossed hattiwatti will continue to develop the tools, but I don't think he's playing the game right now, not sure.
