Supernatural is what I think of. The demon Crowley called the two main characters squirrel and moose. But I'm not sure, if Supernatural was already airing when BG2 were made. Oh, God, I feel old now! Naah, might just be because I live in Germany and I think, this cartoon isn't very well known here. But I guess, Crowley was referring to this cartoon too, when he called Sam and Dean moose and squirrel

I finished Siege of Dragonspear yesterday, overall I like the campaign, don't get me wrong. There are two things that bug me big time, so much in fact, that I have decided to ignore the dlc in my head canon . My Bhaal spawn is exploring north and Ten-Towns while this whole crusade is going on. It is completely another Bhaal spawn who is showing the business end of chicken to Caelar. Explanations in under spoiler tag. 1) The presence of the hooded man aka Irenicus. His presence is completely unneeded for the game. I guess Beamdog wanted to use him to bridge the gap between the two games but still, completely irrelevant. 2) Epilogue: the death of Skie Silvershield. Her death is left hanging there, nobody ever mentions it again in BG2, there is no continuation to the quest (eg. find the dagger, save or not save Skie) .

2) I suspect Skie's fate was meant to be addressed in a BG2 expansion. But the reception of SoD was...mixed...to say the least. Dunno if they will go back to it now.

Protip: In the Wild Forest, Jan's ammo summoning ability counts as magic as far as wild surges go.
He ended up Gating in a demon along with a bunch of skull-shaped turnips. Hilarity ensued.

Here are my thoughts on SoD even though I've yet to finish. I actually liked the inclusion of The Hooded Man as it made me smile knowing who it was even if CHARNAME didn't. CHARNAME had just offed Sarevok and it's implied that Irenicus had been keeping his eye on him then along comes CHARNAME no wonder you've drawn Irenicus' attention. Though not everyone will like his appearance.
Thank god for the mod that addresses Skie's fate. It's called Skie the cost of one girl's soul. I'm definitely installing it into my BGII play through. I'm not all that taken with the EE NPC's though. Thank goodness there's a mod to get rid of them

Bah, wish I knew about that Skie mod. BUt it looks like the content starts in Irenicus's dungeon, and I'm way past that.
Next time though.

So far I've come upon Skie, Safana, Garrik, and Coran in SoD with the last two just having minor cameos. I wonder why the writers chose these companions specifically. Like, why Safana instead of Alora as a thief companion? I'm not complaining or anything, but I would be curious to know if the writers ever gave a reason, whether it be because they saw opportunity to expand on the characters or that these characters had a fan base I'm not aware of.

From what little I could find, Amber Scott wanted to "correct" the parts of Safana she found "problematic"; namely, Safana being a selfish, hedonistic, manipulative Chaotic Neutral bitch . Apparently, Scott found the whole Safana's Femme Fatale trope outdated and sexist, which is ironic since her own take on the character could be considered Slut Shamming . Honestly, if they were going to change the character that much, it would have been better to create a new character to be an "improved" Safana. Not to mention the potential plot hole of how she goes back to old ways in Badur's Gate 2.

And of course the "canon" companions: Minsc, Dynaheir, Jaheria, and Khalid (and Imoen, though she's not joinable)

They just had to explain how/why Immy went from a thief to a thief/mage in BG II

I'd rather they just create a new character that twists the femme fatale trope if that's the case. Tiax has a cameo too, I believe.

Yeah, I was referring more to characters that aren't possible companions in BG2. I can't believe I forgot Tiax though!

I have a problem running BGEE and BG2EE (Steam). Since a recent update, both games aren't launching anymore. I did try to reinstall openAI and I did delete the .lua file, but still nothing. I honestly don't know, what to do anymore, has anyone an idea? Google is very unhelpful, it mostly comes up with openAI and that .lua file

I couldn't launch BG2 recently after a Steam update. But the problem seemed to fix itself after a reboot.

I did a lot of reboots, but nothing works. I deinstalled BG and reinstalled it again, not working either. I'm seriously pissed off.

Resting at the Copper Coronet with Aerie and Neera in the party led to a really bizarre adventure involving a "Red Wizard spy"...

Since I can't play EE anymore (yes, problem is not solved), I can't recommend it. And the new companions are meh. Neera is downright annoying, I kicked her out very soon. The sorcerer is kind of funny and a good edition for an evil party, but he works with my mostly good party too. I tried the half orc and the monk too, both are decent, but a bit overpowered

I like the monk Rassad the best. He's voiced by Mark Meer believe it or not Mark also voices the drow sorcerer Baeloth.
