good that they communicate
but what could they release? a patch to fix bugs as already stated, what else?
is a patch to fix problems so important that it needs to be announced that way?

I find it very important bioware communicates every way possible as it lets the players know they're aware of issues and are working on them. Compared to gears of war or halo, bioware gets a lot less flak since they openly communicate on issues where as the two names I mentioned constantly have people demanding answers for patches or updates to the game.it then leads to those people feeling they're being ignored or have a dev that doesn't care since they don't openly communicate everything. In short: its best bioware communicates even the smallest things or all hell breaks lose. Saves them a lot of trouble in doing so.

It was more of a joke, but logically it's the next step in the train wreck that is aaa publishing. I dread the day it really happens. Hey, at least EA isn't tossing around the idea of paid mods yet, unlike some other publishers! Yes! I use mods to make Bethesda games playable. Unofficial Fixes or Unofficial Patches are pretty much needed to fix all those broken quests, stupid nav-mesh issues and all other little, but annoying bugs. I don't mind paying for a mod directly through PayPal or through Patreon if I'm really using and enjoying it. I just don't like the idea of the publisher taking money for those mods that fix the game. I've blown through 1000+ on Fallout 4 using mods and I can tell you the game doesn't deserve a rating better than a 6, but the mods raise the overall quality to an 8 (sometimes higher if they altered some quest lines to make more sense).

I don't necessarily agree with that assessment. The characters are interesting, the disconnect is the technical hangups getting in the way of them. I also don't see it as a bland universe truth told. If anything the games finding it's footing and setting up the world-building we tend to see in Dragon Age at this time. Really? In 14 months time (the time it took for the Hyperion to reach the Nexus) no one once said, "Hey, what's that thing out there that can destroy our ship, called the scourge? I think I'm gonna go check it out. Maybe take a couple'a readings..." I mean, fuck, I would'a been out there the next week from sheer boredom, if nothing else. And you can't take something that has already been established as lore and beat it to death. I'm sorry, you just can't.
Yes you can. It's been done in many games. It shouldn't be occurring.

I've quit playing the game because of the black-screen glitch on the PS4, but man... that's back? I hear banter all the time in the Nomad. Personally, now that my companions are independent noobs, I would love to hear their banter more than ever.

I guess the game isn't selling as good as they want it to otherwise we wouldn't be getting a big splash announcement. Has any other game in recent times made an announcement in such a way? I'm interested to know so I'm sure someone from the BDF will help out Maybe Division?

They had better do something. Is Mass Effect an iconic franchise? Sure. You wanna know how many times I've heard over on forums on Steam that games are like Mass Effect? A ton. Do you wanna know how many game developers play Mass Effect? A ton. It has become a staple. Like HL, like XCOM: UFO Defense (the 1994 version). Is this game iconic? lolsrsyly?? Good lord. Does it need to be? No, but it would be nice if it actually worked 100%... you know, like a finished product. Since we already know what the first patch will be about, I wont hold my breath for something "major".

I'm expecting this to be more about character creator and saving. As those are issues that players have that exist because of design choice by the developers. They need to come out and say without any bullshit whether they're sticking with it or changing it.
Also an update on some of the bug fixes, but those are bugs, they get fixed when they get fixed. I assume BioWare are working on that at the moment but they can't chose when they find the problem and fix it, they can chose to remove the block they have on saving during priority missions.
Maybe they'll also reveal the new nomad skins and the new outfit that are due out in May. And with the current negative reaction they're dealing with, maybe throw in a few other freebies in that patch, since you can bet your bottom dollar they already have some guns/armor/companion armor ready or about ready that they plan on selling to us in the next couple months.
Though most of all I want an update on the banter issues that I am having, but as I mentioned bugs are bugs. But I hope they're treating that as priority uno.

Even though we don't know what the announcement is, it seems pretty clear that all those YouTube vids have hit home. All those people saying to shit up or I don't know what people are complaining about, looks like Bioware doesn't agree;). Of course I could be wrong and it's about a new expansion but I doubt it

I guess the game isn't selling as good as they want it to otherwise we wouldn't be getting a big splash announcement. Has any other game in recent times made an announcement in such a way? I'm interested to know so I'm sure someone from the BDF will help out Maybe Division? I think the game is probably selling fine. However, EA has pushed to not be known as the "Worst Company" anymore, and since Bioware is a part of that now I think they want to address the issues. Also, I can't remember another game in recent years that received this much blowback from the "community", reviewers, and major gaming news channels (The Know, IGN, Gamespot, Gameranx, etc). Although that could be because I pay much more attention to Mass Effect news than anything else. There was one game that drew this level (and more) of shitstorm: No Man's Sky. The outcry was huge with tens of thousands of people asking for refunds. The company went silent after launch when reviewers and users were outraged at how much they had been promised was simply not there. That silent approach was pretty much deemed to be a terrible tactic by everyone. I think Bioware is wanting to avoid that kind of criticism that the No Man's Sky team got. Also, fans were pretty upset after the ME3 ending, and instead of addressing it or apologizing (which I didn't think they needed to do, but some other called for their immediate apology), they stood by their "artistic integrity" and only after denying there was a problem did they later come out with the Citadel DLC and Extended Cut, still not really admitting that they had done anything wrong. So instead they now want to show that they hear the complaints and critiques and intend to address them instead of just saying "It's fine. It's all fine here. Move along." I think it's nice that they are willing to do this. I do think that the reviews are far lower in score than they should be and that they are far harsher than they should be, as I think there was a combination of looking at the Original Trilogy as some amazing thing with no flaws and that MEA was going to be the Second Coming of RPG's, even though that's never really what Mass Effect was. People expected all the good of the OT without any of the flaws, nor any of the flaws of any other AAA title/open world game (bugs, glitches, fetch quests, animation issues, etc). It was supposed to be perfect, and it assuredly wasn't. If Bethesda or CDPR had created basically the exact same game with a different title it would have gotten at least mid 80's and no one would be crying about SJW's and Mannveir Heir and pandering and "muh endings" and all that. People would have judged the game for what it was, not what they thought it might be. So now because the game has issues, which it does have a lot of bugs and whatnot, and people are disappointed in certain aspects like CC and lack of "magic mirror" and animations, they have to address everyone. I'm very interested in what they have to say. I love Bioware games, and especially Mass Effect games. I hope they make MEA2. But part of me hopes they say "Fuck you guys. You want us gone? We are gone. Peace out." And then when The Witcher 4 and HZD2 and Cyberpunk 4000 come out and you see that they are good games that rehash the same combat, the same gorgeous world, the same protagonist, the same quests, and REALIZE that what Mass Effect has that these don't is meaningful great relationships with squad-mates and your crew, caring about them and romancing them and being their best friends, their bros, their sister from another mister, then everyone will understand what Bioware had given us and maybe finally get over themselves.
