I'm tired of of the cute bumbling character you fall for coz they're 'special'
I would much prefer a battle hardened, powerful, yet dignified warrior. An introduction to a powerful and enduring warrior mentality and a person capable of leading in their own right.
So my top five are listed below.
Commando.
Raised by Krogan.
Mercenary.
Doctor. (Closer to a mad scientist really.)
Ardat Yakshi.
I particularly like the idea of an Asari raised by Krogan. (Merc/Assassin/Pirate)

Commando or merc. I'd like someone opposite of Liara. No polite attitude, no nice girl -act. Self-assured, badass, even self-centered. Someone between Aria and Tela Vasir.

I really like the Asari and would love to see a different aspect of them. I would love an asari commando with renegade/merc attitude like maybe Wasea. Ruthless and focused while on the mission, seductive and dominant if romanced. A person who respect a capable leader who is not going to compromise the mission for moral issues. Ideally someone that despise you if you play too much as a paragon.
I hope that Asari we've seen in the trailer is not our companion....I don't want comic reliefs or the randomness nonsense of Sera.

A diplomat/explorer with experience in first contact situations.
I'm not picky, there's plenty of unexplored space among the Asari. But I do want the next Asari companion to live up to the Asari's social "hat" rather than being some sort of loner like Liara and Samara.
One thing they'll need to be careful with is making a character that makes sense to be following the orders of the protagonist, who it seems won't start with the same sort of established reputation as Shepard. Giving a character centuries of combat experience might make that tough to believe in

Generally, it seems most of the pushback is against another "Liara" ... who seems to be an atypical Asari.
The "Blue Rose of Illium" (I forget her name) and Falere (sp?) might be somewhat similar to the Liara personality ...
But most are very different ... from the description used by Gianni Parasini ... so superior.
More along the lines of Aria, Samara, Tella Vashire (sp?).
My preference, a confident, hyper-competent commando ... at 150 years, still in her maiden phase, but far more experienced and knowledgeable than any human.
I want an Asari that can (from an old college cheer) "whomp 'em up side of the head, grab 'em by the balls, drag 'em through the halls, whomp 'em up side of the head." |

I'd be completely fine not having an asari along. But if we do have one I hope she's not boring. I have high standards, I guess.  I chose commando because we've already had an 'intellectual' asari. Gimme one who shoots things. |

Just throw money at her. Get her to actually respect you? Not so easy. Trying to earn her respect could make for some nice character development. |
