So she is hiding in a secret room inside a room down a long hallway from Hydroponics. Seems strange she could hear them in Hydroponics. EDIT ADDED: Also how did 'they' find her in her hidden room? I needed the help of SAM and my special scanner to find it.
The idea that someone would kill her to have Tann in charge also makes little sense. Considering that MANY of the people above him dies from the Scrouge, how could they know ahead of time just who and who wouldn't die?
If it was some kind of power struggle, why wait until AFTER people started to be revived. Why not kill her in her stasis pod before leaving or during the trip?
There are a lot of questions and not many answers, and there seems to be a LOT of holes (Bioware at its best) in this entire story line. This may be just story filler and we will never know what happened. If we do I still think Alec and SAM are involved somehow, rather as part of the forces trying to oust her, or on her side. I don't trust any man who will do 'anything' to achieve his dream, AI, or the thing that comes form that effort, SAM.

Perhaps she left the hidden room for the 'normal room' to make sure her message in the hidden room would stay hidden until someone would find it. Knowing she would die anyway.

Man, though you must have to have some serious beef with Jien in order to kill her in the way that it happened. What purpose would that serve, anyway? Considering upon arrival you'd have no resources and need all the help you can get. I'd figure this could be dlc.

I like the idea that the benefactor was the previous Shadow Broker. Don't think that TIM would allow two defectors to ride on the Hyperion if he was helping pay for the project.
And i can only think Jien was killed to stop her from trying to investigate anything related to the benefactor.
Anyway, i am almost sure we will find out in the future...

We can only wait and hope that Bioware solve the murder case in the future...

I seem to remember Liara saying that.

The Reapers spend a lot of time 'cleaning up' The Prothieans tired it with stasis pods and only a few made it long enough until the Reapers left. I am not sure what his plan was, if he Knew about the Arks that would have been a decent solution but we know he didn't make it on one.

I do remember something about him wanting to make a deal with the Reapers or possibly hiding out on his ship until they were gone, I would have to go back play that again to know for sure. With that said are we %100 certain that the REAL Shadow Broker was killed? Is it possible he was the Benefactor and to cover his trail he left a patsy in charge while he sneaked onto an Ark? He could even be on the Quairian Ark

Why would he do that if he planed to hang around? Hummmmm I think we may be onto something here.

I seem to remember Liara's theory being the exact opposite, that he never bothered to reprogram the drone since he never anticipated anyone else being in there. The VI calls everyone Shadow Broker including Shepard at first and that's where Liara makes the comment that he was never programmed to really recognize faces or whatever because he never expected anyone else to be in there STILL meaning the shadow broker title could be something that has been passed/taken from one person to the next. Liara later changes this so the VI refers to people (or just Shepard and her side bae) by their actual name. The big beast shadow broker being a pet of the original shadow broker and possibly killing him without anyone knowing may have been on the codex or something. It was definitely said somewhere because I remember being intrigued and thinking that story would be in a comic or something.. it's actually even said on the mass effect wiki if you search the shadow broker

On the Mass Effect Wiki, it says the Yahg Shadow Broker has been the Shadow Broker for 6 decades since defeating the Original Broker, so I doubt the Original Shadow Broker was the benefactor. Maybe the Yahg Broker was, and planned to get on an ark, but then Shepard and Liars killed him. I still doubt that though.

I can't buy either the the Shadow Broker or TIM. The second those Arks left, they would lose all control, unless they were on one and we know from ME3 that they weren't. The Shadow broker was killed by Shepard and Liara sometime on 2185, so who knows if he didn't intended to escape in one of the arks? But it's true there is really no evidence to back either claims. We can only wait and hope that Bioware solve the murder case in the future... "Hey, who let the yahg on board!?"

While I didn't put that much thought into it, it is a thought that crossed my mind. I would also add they follow a very similar path. Stay in the shadows hidden, and then when the job is done, kill the person leading it.

That must have been the most disappointing side quest of them all. When I started investigating I thought this is interesting, went through all the motions and unearthed the last memory to solve it. But nooo. There's no closure. It just stops in mid air without you being any the wiser. Someone murdered the founder of the Initiative, but you're unable to solve it. Unable as in the game doesn't let you. DLC or just sloppy writing?

That's why my first thought and the reason for my disappointment and anger was DLC. But you only have to look at the so called Deluxe edition as compared to the regular one. Whoopy, another butt ugly casual outfit, some redundant armor pieces nd weapons and the soundtrack. All for a tenner more, so gimme, gimme....

I like this. It'd also help explain Reyes's plot armor.
