Prior to release one of the devs said something about how they tried to make that location immersive, and mentioned randomized events like karaoke or slam poetry.

Has anyone else seen these things? I'm almost finished with the game, have been back there several times, and nothing at all has happened there beyond the quest given by Dutch. I'm wondering if that is a bug, if I've failed to do something to trigger it, or if that stuff never made the finished product?

The first or second time i walked in (on my NG+ play-through this never happened on my first time round) There was a woman standing there talking about things that would be happening there as said something like "we're open to suggestions".

Then nothing happened. Sometimes she would be stood there like a mannequin... does that count?

Han, I hate to say it.

But you're going to finish this game and say the same thing about half the stuff they said was there or even showed us was there.

Its as existent as parachuting into volcanoes with Krogan.

Or jokes about Andromeda hanar.

Or squad member jealousy and betrayal.

Even the game they talked about in the survey leak seems not to exist.

That or it was all gutted out at the last minute.

After 5 years and $40 million they give you a Mass Effect beta demo to prepare for Anthem. Sold at full price featuring never to be resolved cliffhangers. BioWare is over Pyjaks.

I've seen the following:

a Turian reading poetry
a human doing karaoke
a group of people taking turns singing war songs, (Human, Turian, Angara)

And I've had 4 quests take place there:
Had a drink with Lexi
Dutch's quest
Had a drink with Drack
Met up with the Asari Reporter I had a fling with.

My vortex lounge is bugged. I walk in every time and someone might be on stage but they are just standing there....twitching. No poetry or music

Yep, usually glitches when Angara gets on stage. Only way to get around it is to reload before saving after it happens. Hoping they fix it.

I did enjoy hearing the human singing Shanxi Boys, and then the turian responding to it saying, "Enough about how we kicked your asses. How about a real song?" and then breaks into a war song himself. Followed by an angaran soldier singing another war song. It only happened for me once, unfortunately.

I've gotten the waving bald lady bug before too. The open mic night thing at the Vortex is really random and rather buggy, sadly.

I am a slam poet and while I did not want to experience slam poetry in my sci fi I was very curious to see what they have created.
But nothing ever happened after the lady told that now is an open mic time.

Even we don't have that embarrassing poetry clubs.

That's why I make it my business not get hyped up by any prerelease company bullshit. They always promise the world and deliver bugger all.

That way I at least don't get disappointed over promised things not being in the game.
