The most annoying SAM bit for.me so far was in the cave on veold where you discover links to the past. Running down the passage between heaters was intensely annoying, he'd speak over himself with warnings.

It was just a stupid way to close off parts of the planets and force you to raise the planet's viability in order to see it all. And just think, the pathfinders came to Andromeda without a vehicle. Had you not found the Nomad, you would have had to explore the planets on foot. I'm sure they didn't come without any plans for ground transport. It's just that the Nexus arrival didn't go to plan. Even getting the Tempest set up for Ryder was an effort after everything that had gone down.

More is why the Asari just need a breathing mask, and just clothes to sustain same radiation heat, cold as Ryder;)

It wasn't until Voeld that this REALLY pissed me off because Sam says it literally every few seconds as you are frequently moving to and from cold / warmth... it is frigging maddening inducing agony to listen to a character I found interesting at first to now become this goddamn parrot I want to kill with my bare hands because it won't shutup about the fact I just went from 100% warmth to 99% warmth... then 2 seconds later back to 100% warmth.. then 12 seconds later to 95% warmth..... Fffffffffffffffffffuuuuu...
JUST TELL ME WHEN I'M ABOUT TO DIE OF COLD AROUND 10% AND NEVER SPEAK AGAIN! GRRRAAAHH!

While it is true that the space has a very low temperature, the heat transfer between the vacuum and your suit is very low, if the suit is designed to have low thermal emissivity and absorptivity. This is because of the fact that space has really low pressure and therefore low thermal convection and conduction. The only way for heat transfer in space is thermal radiation. For example, space station is generally coated with a special white paint to reduce thermal emission and absorption to maintain the temperature. Further thermal emissivity engineering can help control the space station's temperature. On the planet with atmosphere, your suit will have to deal with thermal conduction and thermal convection from the environment, in addition to thermal radiation. Or in Peebee's case, her midriff

Doing more research the "levle 1" Radiation on Eos is background for a plane ride here on earth. The Lvl 2/3 hazard will kill you dead.

I didn't feel like waiting to come back for memory triggers for the Ryder Family Secrets mission, so just drove Nomad out, hopped out, grabbed the trigger, then drove Nomad back with no issues at all. Can you hang around and enjoy the scenery? Maybe not, but you can accomplish tasks in Hazard 3. Just have to be a bit quicker about it when not in the Nomad.

Just do your thing that you need to do and hop back in the Nomad. Just like every other planet. Difficult to avoid when in the various towns / outposts as you're exploring for npcs to talk / listen to. Also to restore any warmth in the nomad takes ages (and not above 50%), you literally have to wait 8 minutes to go from near death to 50% (i times it once like a dummy). So the only non-insane way to restore enviro status is to use the damn heaters. I have literally heared SAM warn / complain about temperature at least 400+ times in my playthrough thus far just exploring Voeld... I genuinely hate the goddamn character now and am praying for an option to kill it at some point in the game - his voice has pissed me off far too much - even writing this stupid post I am haunted by the incessant whine of its voice.. Honestly the person who programmed that event trigger without putting a timer of say (max once per minute) needs to have their fingers stomped on a few times.

The most hilarious thing is their idea of the 'extreme' temperatures range. I mean, hello! -40C is the averege winter for the northern regions (like Yakutsk). People live there. Adults go to work, and kids attend schools. Elder students may continue their lessons down to -45C\-50C (depending on the age, district and local rules). Guess what? They don't have mass effect fields and fancy envirosuits. Temperature may sometimes dive below 60 - but that's already an extreme, yeah.
So, their -50C being a 'deadly lv2 hazard' for the suits or (especially) vechicles is a total BS.

Average temperature in Antarctica is -49 to -59 C, and most people can be out in it for hours with the proper clothing. But not in Mass Effect!

For Elaaden, +40C is barely 100 degrees F (102) and 50 C is only 122 F. In other words, saunas are hotter. I've taken hotter showers, I think

Peebee never changer her clothes just a mask, her headfins are all exposed;)

What's the problem? A talking computer that gives a weather forecast every three seconds? What's not to love? Every home should have one! Pathfinder, there is light rain. Pathfinder, it's raining! It's still raining pathfinder! Pathfinder, it's raining some more! Pathfinder, my senses detect that rain continues to fall! Pathfinder, it's raining! Urgh... I was on Voeld last night, around the main Angaran base, and as my Ryder was walking around, it was always either: "Temperature levels are above acceptable levels" or "Temperature levels are normal again". Every. Five. Seconds.... I just wanted to shut the damn thing up!

Yes, they probably should have set the temps higher / lower so it would seem like the hazard was more real.

I'm pretty sure cars drive around in 120F (the 50C heat on Elaaden) all the time without taking damage. People can hike in 120F heat without any problem as long as they drink enough water. It's annoying.

the radiation on eos is frigging stupid, you cant raise the viability of the planet until you complete the missions but you cant do them because your in a level 3 hazard and die trying to reach them ....
utterly retarded way of doing things, especially since cosmic radiation is orders of magnitude higher than that found in a planetary atmosphere.
either you can walk around breathing the atmosphere or yuou cant no amount of "space magic tech" is going ot stop radioactive particles in the atmosphere from entering your body only a full hazard suit, oh wait ryder is wearing one and yet insta dies when stepping one foot off the outlined road .....
so fucking annoying,
and yes I know you can do other things that wioll raise the viability 0but why give a quest that terraforms the atmosphere into safe and then persist with killing you every time you move off the premarked track, and why put out quest markers on a planet if its in the inaccessible areas, surely you should tie them into being accessable and thus start the quest chain, not make them from the start of the game and then make you do a dozen other things in other places in order to pop back and finish open quests......
shit just pisses me off !

SAM should only warn you when you go into something that can kill you, because it's the games way of telling you this area is blocked off without actually blocking it off. But going from hazard 0 to hazard 1 in the Nomad, is pointless for SAM to talk both times because both don't do much damage to you, hell I don't even think hazard 1 does much damage when out of the Nomad as well. I really hope on top of the banter fix, there is a mute SAM fix as well. But I doubt it, BiOWare have a habit of keeping annoying shit around a lot longer than they should, just look at SWTOR droids. there likely will be a mod for PC that shuts Sam up although it dosen't bother me as personally I appreciated his warnings because if I'm in the middle of a fight or something and I'm busy trying to shoot things I forget to look at my life support and even despite Sam's warnings I did die a couple of times but he did prevent me from dying a few times as well through them in that first playthrough.

Average temperature in Antarctica is -49 to -59 C, and most people can be out in it for hours with the proper clothing. But not in Mass Effect! Um... not exactly. This chart is displayed in every base I've been to in Antarctica to warn people about the dangers of low temperatures, yes, but mostly about the effect of wind speed in combination with those low temperatures. As you can see, even with temperatures of -7.5°C, if you have a wind speed of 64 km/h, you perceive a temperature of -30°C and any parts of your body exposed to the cold can freeze in under a minute. With a temperature of -40°C and a rather mild weather (16 km/h), perceived temperature is almost double and any exposed limbs will freeze in less than thirty seconds. Then there's also pressure, which brings other problems of its own. For instance, the Russians over at Vostok Station are at 3,488 metres above sea level, which means there's a pretty noticeable lack of oxygen, making Vostok not a very welcoming place to live in. In fact, it takes a while to acclimate to said conditions (about two weeks) and the experience is anything but pleasant (headaches, nose bleeds, vomiting, etc.). My own experience (with warmer temperatures than those) is that outdoor activity is not recommended when temperature starts to drop and winds pick up.

Why do we have environmental warnings? No, seriously. If your suit can stand the cold and radiation of space (somewhere around -270 C), it can handle -40 and radiation on an asteroid surface. Not to mention, SAM's repeated "warnings" might just drive me stark raving mad! If the Nomad can stand the temperature on an airless asteroid's surface, there's no way that anywhere on Voeld should cause it any kind of trouble whatsoever. It is far easier to insulate things in vacuum, than it is in atmosphere. Vacuum is a really bad conductor of hear/cold.

I totally agree - hell, sometimes I think it's just used to slow the player DOWN (!) because at first you can't enter certain zones without your lifesupport being drained within seconds (even the Nomad can't take certain zones for long at first)...but after you've reset the Vault on that planet? Yeah it's fine, go right ahead!...bah...IMHO the vaults are boring, if they gave us some interesting loot to find then I'd love those things a lot more, but as it is? BORING!) greetings LAX

The answer to many complaints and nitpicks about MEA is, the buck stops with the director. Who was the director, again? Oh, that's right. 'Nuff said.
