Why do we have environmental warnings? No, seriously. If your suit can stand the cold and radiation of space (somewhere around -270 C), it can handle -40 and radiation on an asteroid surface. Not to mention, SAM's repeated "warnings" might just drive me stark raving mad!
If the Nomad can stand the temperature on an airless asteroid's surface, there's no way that anywhere on Voeld should cause it any kind of trouble whatsoever.
Edit to add conclusion:
So two small tweaks to fix this should be patchable--1. Reduce the frequency of SAM's warnings. Say, when you hit 75%, 50%, 25%? And we really DON'T need to know that "temperature is normalizing, Pathfinder" lol.
And 2. Increase the level 1 hazard extreme. Say, add 20 degrees to each; 70C for heat, -70 for cold, and...darn it, I can't remember an actual hazardous radiation level. But their current level is basically background radiation that we're all exposed to all the time.
Oh! And 3. Fix Voeld. It never moderates.

This is something that bugged me too.
But beyond the inconsistencies, it annoyed me that an exploration team would not have suitable gear for exploration.

It was just a stupid way to close off parts of the planets and force you to raise the planet's viability in order to see it all.
And just think, the pathfinders came to Andromeda without a vehicle. Had you not found the Nomad, you would have had to explore the planets on foot.

1: Slightly nitpicky, but there is no temperature in a vacuum. Temperature is how quickly the molecules of an object or fluid are moving, and there can't be one if there are no molecules. While space is technically a very thin, and yes, very cold, gas (about one atom per cubic centimeter), it's so thin that you would still gain heat from the light of a sun faster than you would lose it through convection under most circumstances. So, yes, standing on Voeld at around between -60C and -40C at 1.42 atm is actually colder than standing in space at around -270 and very close to 0 atm.
2: Ryder's suit can't stand the radiation of space. The nomad can, and that's why you have to stay in it on H[bunchofnumbers]. Ryder's suit can, just barely, stand the levels of radiation on Eos, but that would be orders of magnitude weaker than what you're getting on the asteroid (which is space, for purposes of radiation). And admittedly, how the radiation on Eos works can only really be explained by "remnant stuff is weird and does weird things".
3: Imagine how much more annoying it would be if the game gave you no indication and your first warning was when you glanced at your life support bar and noticed there was only about a quarter left.

Ummmmmmm no. As goishen said, there is indeed temperature in a vacuum. Even without atoms or molecules, there's electromagnetic radiation, neutrinos, possibly dark matter, and who knows what. 2. I seem to remember Ryder going for a spacewalk at least once in the combat suit+helmet. I think it was during Hunting the Archon and you had to go across a vacuum area. 3. The point being that the cold/heat shouldn't be hurting you in the first place.

I liked the immersion. Just do the vaults first and you wont have to worry about it. Problem Solved.

That architect fight. Where if you jump out the nomad you freeze to death.
So you have to hide in nearby buildings and duck in out of patios to avoid the cold.
While fighting an architect.
So much overkill.

SAM should only warn you when you go into something that can kill you, because it's the games way of telling you this area is blocked off without actually blocking it off.
But going from hazard 0 to hazard 1 in the Nomad, is pointless for SAM to talk both times because both don't do much damage to you, hell I don't even think hazard 1 does much damage when out of the Nomad as well.
I really hope on top of the banter fix, there is a mute SAM fix as well. But I doubt it, BiOWare have a habit of keeping annoying shit around a lot longer than they should, just look at SWTOR droids.

I think it's just a way of restricting your movements until you progress further in the game and improve the environments.

The radiation bit really annoyed me, not only is .042msv/h non lethal, it's actually less than the yearly max for a nuclear worker IE Non dangerous for a person in a hard suit

I would go through the walls and zip to safety and make pot shots at the architect outside, then zap back to one of those heaters. It was weird and entertaining.

While it is true that the space has a very low temperature, the heat transfer between the vacuum and your suit is very low, if the suit is designed to have low thermal emissivity and absorptivity. This is because of the fact that space has really low pressure and therefore low thermal convection and conduction. The only way for heat transfer in space is thermal radiation.
For example, space station is generally coated with a special white paint to reduce thermal emission and absorption to maintain the temperature. Further thermal emissivity engineering can help control the space station's temperature.
On the planet with atmosphere, your suit will have to deal with thermal conduction and thermal convection from the environment, in addition to thermal radiation.

It was just a stupid way to close off parts of the planets and force you to raise the planet's viability in order to see it all. And just think, the pathfinders came to Andromeda without a vehicle. Had you not found the Nomad, you would have had to explore the planets on foot. The planets were supposed to be habitable. The AI did not come prepared to settle barren wastelands, because nothing said they would be that way.

Maybe it is just me, but if I were preparing for an excursion to another galaxy, I'd remember to pack my shorts and my jacket ... ~shrug~ HOWEVER ... on the comment about the Nomad ... we DID bring it with us. The Tempest may not have specifically had the thing, but it was brought by us. We just decided to keep it on the Tempest after borrowing it on the planet we started on. Just clarifying there, because some of the stuff above made it sound like we stole the Nomad from aliens or something
