Does anyone know how to take full advantage of this upgrade on vanguards? I keep trying to use it, but amidst the chaos of biotic revelry I can never tell if I got the bonus in time to have another go, and in the meantime get downed for hesitating.

You can see your power bar "enveloping" your crosshair when you're on cooldown, so if it's not doing anything - you're free to charge again. Bonus power on Vanguards is amazing and it's much more fun than Full Barrier. I use it on my Slayer (probably the first one to do it) Drellguard, Phoenix Vanguard, hell even Kroguard. The only one I use Full Barrier on is the Novaguard.

Yeah, I keep looking for that. But since 'guards are so in-your-face with the enemies it's hard for me to spot soon enough to react with so much going on on the screen. I wish there were a sound cue or something. My VolGuard "Pinball" needs to live up to his name. :-)

I use it on my Drellguard and Smashguard, but I so rarely play on host that Vanguards are my least used class. I may not even have spec'd into Bonus Power on my current profile.
I like the Asari Vanguard having a little bit more barrier to eat a few shots while chucking grenades at spawns.

As fun as it is I've done it, got the tshirt, but find volus regular Heavy melee waaaaaaaaaay too important a tool to give up. |

Then they might leave. And then I'll be left to solo. But I suck at soloing. Then I'll die. Then my equipment would be wasted. And I might not be able to afford any Jumbo equipment packs. Then I'll be very upset. |

It's equally hilarious to Charge a Phantom with full Batarian Barriers, wind up the Falcon Punch, get staggered out of it by the Phantom's counterattack, then blow her head off with the Raider. But I've been considering giving Bonus Power a try. |

On Asari, Volus, and especially Smashguard it is worth it. The easiest way to tell if it kicked in is to watch the center of the screen and tap the BC button. Sometimes you can go 7 times in a row. With a Venom and Smash for biotic priming imagine the carnage on Glacier. It's awesome. I would definitely skip it on Slayer and Novaguards though as with them you want your barriers as high as possible for maximum damage output. |
