There's no way the soundtrack is bad. All of the songs are nice however the issue is that there are no memorable/epic songs that really catch my attention. The music fits well into the game (for the most part) and it is not a distraction at all. The problem is that video game soundtracks nowadays can be so memorable and I feel like they really missed out on an opportunity here.

Yeah, the OST is nothing to write home about. I liked "A Better Beginning" and "A Trail Of Hope" but other than that? Nothing much.
It's not something that I could listen to on its own beyond those tracks.

A Trail of Hope is definitely the best of the new tracks, I think. Heleus isn't bad either, but that's mostly because it's just a remix of Uncharted Worlds. I actually like Andromeda for the most part, but the OST is nowhere near as distinctive or as powerful as the OT.

The only thing I remember soundtrack wise is from the trailer in ME2 Heart of Courage. lolz I know at the time they sound powerful, but overall, they are not that memorable compared to a lot of the other stuff I have listened too. (Edit talking whole ME series here)

I voted Meh.
It's the weakest Mass Effect soundtrack so far. In another thread someone described as wallpaper music, which I think is the best description of the soundtrack I've seen. It's there, but you're not really supposed to notice it much.

It's not something that I could listen to on its own beyond those tracks. Yeah, those 2 tracks (being basically the main themes of the game) are really good, but other than that... I really just wish they'd have brought back some of the old composers. I'm sure they are capable of doing something different yet still Mass Effect-y. Jack Wall, Sam Hulick, Chris Lennertz, Sascha Dikiciyan, and Cris Velasco all did great when collaborating on ME3. And so far in my game, there just hasn't been a whole lot of music.

I vote meh because... I dont recall hearing them in game. Even if I could hear them, compared to the previous OST, I'd probably still vote meh.

Meh vote from me. This game suffered the same thing Inquisition did. No music while exploring. To have such a large game but no music to it is painful.
Even then the ones that play during missions and cutscenes are still pretty lacking and didn't leave any lasting impressions. ME2 and 3 you could play a track and I could tell you when that played in the games, this one besides the main theme I have no idea

It has some music I like but it needs more standout tracks. And especially for the final battle, god did that one suck in my humble opinion.

Though I want to say that "meh" seems too hash (I like most of the audio work in the game, including the music), I certainly agree that very little of the music is memorable.

Also, how come Aurora's "Under Stars" isn't in the OST? A little unusual maybe but it's my third favourite song from the game.

Why are you comparing the OST in one game to that of three others?
I do agree that MEA's soundtrack doesn't have amazing highlights compared to the others. Can anything ever top the sense of wonder that Vigil evoked in our first steps into the Mass Effect universe? ... the raw piano in End In Once And For All that perfectly ended Shepard's story?
ME's soundtrack seemed more complementary than anything. The songs are decent. Nothing special, but good nonetheless. The trilogy had quite a few ear sores.

Are we talking about the OST separate from the game, or the music as used in the game?
- ME1 had great music, and it was used well in the game. The music during the opening scene where you're walking through the Normandy to the bridge and go through the relay for the first time. The music during the hold the line speech, when the fifth fleet comes to rescue the Ascension, Saren shooting himself and falling through the glass, or when Shepard comes out the rubble as examples.
- ME2 had some of the best combat tracks in the series. The battle theme in Overload is the best combat track in the series IMHO. But also the battle and boss music in Lair of the Shadowbroker, and the battle and boss music in Stolen Memory.
I can't recall any moments or times in ME:A where the music enhanced a scene, or even a battle theme that I liked. I barely noticed any music most of the time.

You guys make it sound like its a terrible soundtrack. IMO it's not sure not at the same level as the OT however it's a completely new game separate from the others hence the music shouldn't be judged by the OT's music. IMO from what I've heard it's damn good.

Overall, I'd say the soundtrack is a resounding... meh. Nothing really stood out to me. I mean, the music isn't bad, there was never a time that I thought "Ugh, this music is horrible", but even after having played and beat the game very recently, I can't clearly remember a single piece of music that played in that game. There are pieces of music from the original trilogy that, even after having not played those games in a long time, I still remember them very clearly. Hell, there are pieces of music from games like Final Fantasy 6 or Final Fantasy 9 that I remember far more clearly and I haven't played those games in years. The soundtrack in this game just isn't memorable at all, at least to me. There definitely isn't anything like "Suicide Mission" in this game, that's for sure.

IMO from what I've heard it's damn good. As standalone music, it is probably not bad. But as in game music, it is not terrible, it is horrible. When players cannot associate the soundtrack with in any game moments - it is horribly bad. Imperial March, the moment you hear it, you can "see" Darth Vader. That is good. Leaving Earth, when I hear it, I can "see" Shepard leaving after not playing the game for 3 years. Good. An End Once and For All... brings back emotion and memories. Good. By these standards, ME:A's OST is not a meh but horrifyingly bad.

I thought DA:I had a great soundtrack (my favorite from that series), but like ME:A you hardly ever heard it. Exploration feels more like a drag than it should when there is no music.

I can't remember a damn piece of music from this game. Everytime I level up and hear the first note of "Vigil" I want it to just keep going so badly. That track is Mass Effect. It's a shame because music is so important. It can completely make a moment in a game sometimes.
