I didn't like Oblivion at first because it started you off in first person mode and I thought the whole game was gonna be that way...until I figured out how to switch back and forth from 1st to 3rd person mode... duh. I thought the going into the Oblivion Gates missions were kinda cool, so was the story. The graphics could've been better though and so could the movements. I REALLY liked the game Divinity 2 : Ego Draconis because you got to switch into being a dragon and playing as a dragon was fun. I played a game once that had Drizzt Do' Urden in it, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called, it was my kid's game and she's a BIG Forgotten Realms fan. The Fable games were kinda fun too, at least 2&3 were...don't know if I ever played the first one. Drizzt as a playable character? As a npc he makes appearances in both Baldurs Gate games My daughter just told me it was Baulder's Gate2...I just remember a fricken raft ride through a cave system that had A LOT of cave spiders and it took me forever to get through it...stoopid caves... stoopid spiders... stoopid raft ... I almost gave up on the damn game but then I just started saving whenever I got a little further ahead and eventually made it through... still... It pissed me off...

Ok. So. Case I Carrier Landing.
You first enter the pattern off the starboard side of the ship, at the same bearing as Mom at, I dunno, a thousand feet, or an angel. You visually confirm the deck is clear and ready for you, then, about a mile off Mom's bow, you pull a port turn at G-force representing 1 percent of your current air speed. If you're going 350kt, you'll pull 3.5G. You pull to a bearing opposite Mom's, descend to six hundred feet while extending your flaps, landing gear and tail hook. You then proceed to turn to port again, evening out with the flight deck, which is nine degrees off center to allow simultaneous launch (Cat 1 and 2) and recovery (Cat 3 and 4 are unavailable when someone's landing). Trick is, you can't turn too steeply, because it's angled nine degrees to port, not starboard. When you even out, you place a ladder symbol over the wires and keep the velocity vector in the middle of it, which ensures on-speed angle of attack, or the ideal AoA for the hook to catch onto the wires. When you get eyes on the IFLOLS on the port side of the ship, which is supposed to help guide you in, you give the Landing Signal Officer a call consisting of your callsign, aircraft and affirmative on seeing the ball. For me, that's Tempest 1, Hornet ball. I'll let you guess thrice why. By now, you're safely headed to the deck. If you're lucky, you'll catch OK 1 Wire, good 2 or 3 Wire, or acceptable 4 Wire with the hook. If you don't, that's a bolter, go around, have another go, good luck, have fun! If you catch a wire, push the throttle to full afterburners. You can never be sure you caught one until you stop, and the time between catching the wire and stopping is so short that you wouldn't be able to react in time in case you weren't in fact stopping. Put yourself off the flight deck in a hurry, because someone else might already be in the pattern!
Congrats. That's a landing. Now, how do you get it in the air in the first place?
Start the engine, get all systems running. Taxi to the Cat you want, or have been assigned, have the crew help you with launch bar attachment. When it's ready, the JBD (Jet Blast Deflector), made of concrete, will rise behind you. Make one final check, salute the shooter and prep for the cat shoot! But you're not done yet, nu-uh, flyboy (flygirl)! When you're off the deck, quickly raise your gear and flaps (the launch bar is attached to the gear and raises automatically after the shoot) and make a quick 20 degree turn either to port or starboard, depending on which Cat you went from. 1 and 2 do starboard turns, 3 and 4 do port turns. When you're 20 degrees off heading, return back to Mom's bearing and stay under five hundred feet (half an angel) until you're seven naval miles from the carrier. Then you can climb and proceed on with your mission!
...yes. I've been practicing Carrier Ops with the Hornet. Promise I'll record something when my PC is up for it.

Really wished I could backhand those orphan's in Assassin's Creed 3. Like normally I don't mind them, giggling like loons. But when they make Connor drop a sick person, it's the backhand for them. Or a good scolding would do as well I guess. Mostly lollygagged today. Did a bunch of Homestead quests, got intimately familiar with the Boston tunnel system (got 8 exits on my own stumbling then looked up the last two), liberated New York of it's trinkets, quests and guards. Last ones deserved it, attacking me out of the blue for just daring to walk close to some buildings. So hacked them all down. Was happy to find at least one lady assassin's recruit. Yeah yeah realism, but Connor is still doing leap of faiths into pine tree branches so you can take that thing and shove it. Did a bit of main questing and: The brewery bit was awesome. Even if that dumb mercenary decided to go hustle some guys in the other direction I was whistling at him from. Ship bit was okay. Can't be bothered too 100% it right now since I'm too lazy to do the sailing bit again. So Sequence 10 starts and do a side mission for Prudence. Herding some pigs, Golden Halla what eh? But get them in the pen and the cutscene starts. Prudence and Connor are chatting together and suddenly Connor goes in a defensive state and asks "Are you well" as a horrific cougar cry sounds in the background. She seems oblivious and says yes and from the background a wolf leaps into the pen! It attacks the pigs, then goes for Connor! I can't defend and Prudence is in cutscene mode so she can't do shite. So have to watch the wolf rip Connors throat out! Ahhh! Now I can be the assassin. Eheheh. Then he gets desynchronized, cutscene restarts and plays in a much more chill manner, with no wolves or weeping kitties. But so far it's been the most hilarous homestead event. Did some more homestead missions, got more chests open and collected more feathers. He should have enough for a eagle suit now, so he can be the eagle on top of those buildings. Granted he might have something else planned, but like, good idea. Was going to take a peak at Sequence 10, but the game said enough, it's bed time now and crashed. So, like, okay. But had fun. A wee bit of frustrations, but mostly fun and chuckles.

I don't remember having that specific glitch but I do remember having wolves in particular cause problems with completion of quests!!!!! AC3 is the worst for failing Leaps of Faith, those huge spirally trees you have to climb in particular. I often just accepted falling out of the damn thing and just leapt off and desynched.

Was going to post a cool Drizzt image but saw this one and posted it instead He's one of my daughter's a time favorite book characters, after Harry Dresden(the Dresden Files) , Zeddicus Zul Zorander (Sword of Truth series) and Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones). She has an Icing Death replica sword, but still hasn't been able to afford Twinkle. We know it's out there though.

Cleared out Cloakwood Mine, killed the boss and stole his key, then flooded the mine after making sure all the slaves got out. Not sure what happened to Yeslick after I added then removed him from my party. After unloading loot and selling off all the wyvern heads I'd collected, I headed north towards the city of Baldur's Gate. Only made it just north of Friendly Inn for now. In other news....got AC Origins installed this morning so I'll be starting on that soon. Probably before BG2.

But yeah, my oldest is the Forgotten Realms fan, I introduced her to the PERN series at a young age, she always saw me and her father reading, so she picked up a love for sci-fi and Fantasy books too. She's even trying her hand at writing also and she loves to draw. Basically while my kids were growing up we were a bunch of nerdy geeks, .

My daughter has just grasped reading by the horns thanks to Harry Potter (friend influence) and The Hobbit. She wants to read the Lord of The Rings but I am encouraging her to try David Eddings The Belgariad first or The Pern novels of which I have all of them. We are a sporty family especially my daughter so that takes up a lot of time as does school work but I am so glad she has finally embraced reading. Next gaming!!!!

This is the official Case I lesson. I don't use TACAN or HSI, however, lower everything as I exit the downwind leg and usually can't keep an on-speed AoA. It's a lot messier, but usually gets me down.

We are a sporty family especially my daughter so that takes up a lot of time as does school work but I am so glad she has finally embraced reading. Next gaming!!!! PERN I grew up with those books. Probably my favorite book series. *sigh* You can't read those books without falling in love with Anne McCaffery's version of dragons and fire lizards...even her dolphins were lovable. And I understand your glee of seeing your kids dive into reading, it was something I encouraged my kids to do too and when they got into the habit of reading I was so happy! I find gaming takes storytelling to a new level beyond reading and movie watching. A game with a well thought out storyline and interesting characters is great and I love how they allow you to interact with the story. I never really got into sports, but for a brief period in my life I did watch a bit of "sports entertainment" and watched WWF/WWE and will catch a football game when my team is playing, but I never actively participated in anything sporty. Books & movies/tv were always my thing, now it's gaming too.

Well my son is definitely a nerdy geek, he's into Japanese Anime and whilst he did a lot of gaming when younger the last few years he's been more interested in watching You Tube gaming stuff and reading out there books mixed with some science fiction. Books & movies/tv were always my thing, now it's gaming too. I was a runner, triathlete, and rode my horses in 50 and 100 competitions, until age caught up with me and them and still hike, walk, and do strength training. Reading fits in so well with those things because it's relaxing for the body, after having worked out. Love to read (or play my computer games)

Love to read (or play my computer games) Oh man, horseback riding...I love horses but never felt comfortable riding them. I'm kind of uncomfortable with heights and the movement kinda made me dizzy. I used to do a lot of walking, but now my back acts up over the stupidest things, like tripping over cracks in the sidewalk, (I'm not the most graceful person) and if I can't find a place to sit right away, I end up messing up my back for days. I think about the only thing I could get into now is swimming, the buoyancy in the water helps me not strain my back. Sitting down with a good book is ALWAYS a great way to spend some time, same with a decent video game or movie. I like my quiet alone time, or watching something with a friend or two, not really into going to noisy places, I'm more of a homebody.

Love to read (or play my computer games) @nopers I have a crap back as well, it ain't fun and at the moment I am off the anti-inflammatory drugsthat normally keep me moving on Dr's orders. MarilynRobert my bad back is from too much sport, competitive squash, Baseball, marathon kayak racing and Triathlon and too much running finally broke me. My back apparently wasn't designed for all the running and one sided sport (I was a pitcher and catcher in baseball) and after a run one day my back just decided it had had enough and I ruptured ligaments between L4 and L5. Bending over to put a plate in the dishwasher can be a health risk for me. Anyway Happy New Year from Sydney

It'd been painful all my life because of a crookedly aligned body but I still liked it for some reason. Still, walking seems to make my back feel better so I still do it but have to wear really good hiking boots to do it. dazk, your ailing body gives you a good excuse not to do housework and instead, play games.

I was sabotaged by a stupid surgeon when I was 20. Playing Soccer/Football I broke my Tibia and Fibula and the surgeon decided not to plate it and I ended up with my right leg being almost 2.5cn shorter than my left. I told them to break it again and fix it but they said I'd have no problems, they were wrong. About 7 years later I ended up getting really bad neck pain but theycould find nothing wrong until my knee started hurting. Then thye noticed my pelvis was out of whack and I started wearing orthotics but the damage had been done unfortunately.

My first attempt to post here today, for some unknown reason, garnered a message "You cannot reply to this thread." I have no idea why, so I'm trying to rewrite my post again. If both ultimately go through, I'll delete this one.
My most recent character in The Long Dark will not be ringing in the new year with me. He died... again... in the Forlorn Muskeg (my nemesis region in this game apparently). I tend to want to collect all the loot, which leaves me overencumbered and being overencumbered on weak lake ice in this game is a recipe for death. Being a permadeath game, the save goes bye-bye. I'll be restarting another new character in the new year.

That sounds like what's wrong with my back, one leg significantly longer than the other, but for me it was something I was born with but didn't know about it, so I developed scoliosis and my hips sit weird so my lower back has a serious bend in it. It doesn't help that when I was younger I didn't take care of lifting heavy things and such, then I managed to do a fine job of messing everything up trying to stand up on a chair and my head came up under a cupboard causing everything to compact together, my neck, spine, hips and knees. Plus I did a number on my skull, so now I get roaming aches and pains and try not to overdo things. I didn't get a lift for my shoe until my mid 30's I believe, so yeah, all the damage I did to my back is pretty well permanent and as I've gotten older, it's gotten worse. It used to be the occasional bad back day, now it's the occasional good back day.

dazk Yep it was Dobby. Was absolutely thrilled that she was one of the escorts during the mission where you learn about that feature. --- So wrapped up the main story today. Poor Connor in sequence 10. He does get major plus points for me for telling them both where they could shove it. Still, ouch. Then wrapped up the Kidd missions, got familiar with the New York Tunnel system and did most of the naval quests left. The reward for the Kidd mission was fine, but man did it rile me up. Mostly because "I DID a 3 man kill streak and you're just a meanie", "Darn you checkpoint!" and "Connor for the love of gourds could you just jump where I tell you and not rub yourself against the walls!". Also, "those wolves were jerks". Otherwise it was fun. Liked the Doctors place and the Fort was pretty fun as well, kill streaks and wall rubbing aside. Did quite like the rest of the main story. Liked the Sequence 11 quite a bit. Granted I would have loved a more flowers and butterflies, but like, the way it went was pretty awesome too. It also glitched the first half of the next Sequence for me. Since the screen kept it's red tint the final fight for the entirety of the first memory in that part. Which did not help my headache much, but did make the story a bit more enjoyable, since I do like it when the main character Just.Wont.Stop. Luckily it went away before any chasing happened, since that would have properly made me want to tell it to go crawl in a hole and die. But I just loved the result cutscene too much so all is forgiven. Rest of the game was pretty nice as well. Almost missed the post credit cutscene, since I decided to just go to the bathroom and brush my teeth while the credits played. Luckily I could see my screens reflection in the window and pause it before much happened, but such is the on going drama with the credits in this game. Also wrapped up the Homestead missions. Had a good chuckle over the final doctor mission. Yes just let me smack a bandage on you and you'll be right as rain! Then there was less chuckling over the next scene. But it was a nice wrap up. Don't think I'll be bothering with the rest of the side quests/ 100% the ones I couldn't be bothered with this session. But maybe I will, one day. Still, planning to do the Washington dlcs so not quite done with the game. All in all, quite enjoyed the main game, even if I needed a bit of venting to see it's merits. Ezio is still my favorite assassin so far, but Connor can be second, especially after Sequence 9 and 10. Oh and happy New Years. Hopefully this one is the best one yet
