The difficulty ramped up significantly for Geralt's fight with Caranthir and then Eredin.
The toughest fight for me on Death March was the guy at Bald Mtn. Eredin gave me a lot less grief. Like you, I skipped side content and definitely the DLCs before getting the trophy. Of course now that I have the game on a second platform (originally Steam, now GOG too) that cheevo needs to be earned again.

God of War RagnarokPretty sure I haven't mentioned the save system in this game yet and talked about it and its starting to bug me. Its doing that Last of Us Thing where you save the game...but its like 'no you didn't you are going to start where we like you to.' By and large so far this has been a boon, kind of grounding me a bit in the moment or replaying an important line of dialogue...but then there are moments where I basically had to replay an entire min puzzle. Or start over from the beginning of an area. So that is fun. Which is the thing because the reason I'm not sure if this is right that I really enjoy a lot of what this game does regardless...but this is one of those gameplay tropes I really hate. Bear remains, as ever, absolutley perfect. The World of FateKind of went in an expected direction but as we got there this was a delight and again another interesting compare contrast with ACV. Kind of interesting I played that before this now that I think about it. First off as we got closer to the destination I kind of like we got sort of an onion effect when it comes to the challenges and mind games. Interesting to because we got the first challenge was a level four mini boss sort of deal and it was one of those 'man this thing kicked my ass how will I ever get past it' and then the next time I kicked its ass. Basically don't stay at range because it has an AOE ability. From there though got fairly bog standard mind games from the...Fates? The fascinating thing of course is musing a little on fate here. Mimir calls them out on their BS and they shut up for a bit...but its funny because like all of this we know where its going and the...god the name is escpaing me right now Kratos calls them Fates but they aren't Fates. But yeah it is their prophecies that we are here in the first place and these prophecies have Kratos dying at Ragnarok so...these challenges come off as being...very ordained. But then things get really interesting because just when we think the mind games are at a stop...they are just starting. Freya is confronted...with herself...and a shade of Baldur. Mimir with a very angry Sigurn the Valkryie. And Kratos's cut deep since he was fighting a bunch of Enjinhar...while Odin was taunting him and Atreus was calling him a monster for everything that he had done. Powerful stuff. Finally though we get to the...sisters. And since this is actual myth and not techno myth it was really neat seeing the threads of fate being this really thick forest of threads. And it was typical but one of them was running around finishing our sentences or talking with us, made it abit hard to understand if I'm honest. But it was still pretty well written. And spekaing of fate though its something kind of interesting because there is this whole conversation about fate here. And they basically say there is no such thing as fate per se just the choices you make connected to your nature. And its not that you have a script, just that everyone is so predicatable. But then they drop the nugget that Heimdall is threatening to kill Atreus. Which may not even be true. It may be. But it does seem to set the stage rather nicely for what the Norns have been predicting all along. Interesting. And weirdly enough despite the game progress saying I'm only about half way through there was a 'you might want to catch up on all your side activities first.'

Started a Fallout 4 Survivor difficulty permadeath run. (well, strictly speeding, the third attempt at such a run. The last two runs were ended by a molerat and by Ack-Ack). Permadeath Survivor difficulty Fallout 4 could be my favourite new thing. But it does encourage a huge learning process. - Run 1 ended with the Molerat under Red Rocket (embarrassing)
- Run 2 ended with Ack-Act at Olivia.
- Run 3 ended with a grenade in the face trying to take Hangman's Alley (level 33 this run).
- Run 4 ended with a Ghoul at Sunshine Tidings (oops).
On run 5, made it to central Boston, but I am so taking things carefully and have prioritised Power Armor. Good times.

God of War RagnarokGo, go Bear, go go. Also this game has now added spear combats to the things it can do very well. At least after a fashion. Forging DestinySo the quest to forge said spear was interesting as most of them are. Kind of started off from last time on a little puzzle, at least thought it was a puzzle. But something I read made me curious about things so I headed in the other direction and that puzzle, even if it was a puzzle, didn't need to be solved.
Also had a few more which was interesting, one I looked up on the PS notes which yey PS notes. At least helped a bit.
And there was this odd bit too where Freya just scampered off to go do something and then she came back...but it was just me and Brok for awhile. Actually this sequence was a little strange too because Freya was really pushing the angle that Kratos was going to war and it played with fate a bit more. Because she did prop up the idea that since...Kratos's wife...saw his fate that she wouldn't have asked him to go to Jotunheim if she didn't want him to become the champion of the giants and fight in Ragnarok. And I think the issue is obvious, afterall the Norns basically supposed that fate is not fate but that fate is merely predictable choices being made...and sure. But that means there is a real chicken and the egg thing going on here though I can see how it could still work because Kratos wouldn't not take it upon himself for his wife's dying wish. Granted the fact tht he survived all these encounters (given how many times we die from a metatextual standpoint) is also another interesting thought.
From there though there was a potential major plot hole with Brok. Because Sindri told us to not take Brok, twice, Kratos insisted...loudly. And Sindri also mentioned that Brok was persona non grata in Svarltheim because of what he did. And yet Kratos and Mimir was acting really surprised and oblivious to the reasons of it. Except towards the end where siad Lady of the forge ignored Brok...and Mimir told him that mermaids only see someone's soul, which Broke is partially missing.
And in the end though Odin showed up, Kratos forged his spear, and is seeming to be off to war and is starting to get a little...uppity. "Release my son or perhaps I will show you the god I was." And well Mimir was also 'scared for Kratos'. Bit of an interesting dynamic developping. Tyr is very extremly for peace. Mimir a bit more. Then Kratos...then Freya in the extreme war camp. But again it just seems he is getting more and more willing to do whatever it takes to free his son. As Freya said earlier in the quest 'his thoughts hadn't quite caught up to his instincts yet.'

Bought FC24 yesterday after umming asnd arring whether to preorder despite not seeing the career mode deep dive yet. But then I thought I usually end up getting the games anyway so why not. Als owhils tdownloading NFS Heat I also noticed NFS Unbound was for sale for £20 so picked that up as well. I'm not a big fan of Unbound's cartoony art style but I do know tha tgenerally the racing in NFS is fun and I als oheard the cops are slightly easier in Unbound compared with Heat too. I don't know when I'll play it yet maybe after I play Heat. As for when I pla yHeat that may depend on whether I get another Beta invite or not because if I don't Beta test I may play it at some point in August and if I do Beta test I'll be doing that over the second half of August.

I learned the true value of Network Fusions during my previous playthrough of P5R, which is taking the best traits from high level personas. In a previous post I mentioned swiping the trait "Omen" from the persona Sandalphon, which greatly increases the success rate of instant kills. My latest creation involved acquiring the trait "Vitality of the Tree" from Attis, which allows the player to use skills that normally can only be used when surrounded. The crown jewel here being the skill Thermopylae, which increases attack/defense/evasion/everything for all allies. I was around level 60, and decided I take a try at beating the Reaper. I was successful on my second attempt, though I had given Ann an item that made her immune to instant kills, and even just one ally that you know will survive makes a big difference, so I took that off and tried to beat the Reaper a second time. Also, after defeating the Reaper the first time I was able to grab possibly the best Trait in the game "Will of the Sword", which boosts Charge/Concentrate, skills that already boost the players attack. I had been trying to avoid using Almighty skills, but facing the Reaper at this level on Hard, I didn't really have a choice. I did try a few times using the single enemy version of Blazing Hell, Inferno. But even with Will of the Sword I just wasn't doing enough damage, and with Ann no longer immune to instant kills, all my attempts ended the same way, with the Reaper low on health, but refusing to die, either instant killing all non-Joker party members, or hurling one almighty attack after another. So Megidolaon and Almighty Amp it is then. I was looking up something and just happened to come across a post mentioning that the Reaper only has one turn if you let it ambush you. With a new and improved Throne persona and the Reaper with just one turn, I defeated it pretty easily, kinda took any challenge out of it. Haha. By then Akechi had levelled enough to unlock Debilitate, which is basically the opposite of Thermopylae, nerfing everything on one opponent. No longer having to Debilitate the Reaper myself freed me to do a lot more damage, even with two turns the Reaper died fairly quick. In previous playthroughs I had only played on Easy or Normal and I never really bothered debuffing enemies, but the Reaper would be pretty much impossible without Thermopylae/Debilitate. The Reaper generally likes to pick on Ann in my experience, if she is alive that is, I enjoyed watching her dodge numerous ice attacks quite a bit. "Miss!"

I played a tiny bit of My Time at Sandrock. A tiny bit because I feel like I'm going to fall into the rabbit hole and continue playing this when BG3 release and I took the next Friday off to play BG3. I managed to upgrade my workbench to intermediary before doing that thought. I neglected this game early access so much, I actually forgot where I was at.

God of War RagnarokFrom forging destiny continued to go along and start doing side quests. The end of the quest had Kratos wanting to retire so...well I may take my chances later but then again I may not exactly and well time to do more side quests. Speaking of though it is kind of neat how the game continues to unlock more ways for you to go back and solve puzzles and gain accesses to areas which encourages you, at least a litle, to go back and try some of those things out and continue to explore. Some games do this as a matter of quests and story but this is also neat, of course a lot of people complain about having to revisit areas so wonder how this is recieved. Back to side questing and random exploration. Found a symbolic Dwarven hammer for Durlin. Found another Nornir chest (which had to look up the answer to) and finally found one of those rift things from the first game which spits out level 6 werewolves. So now I know wthe level cap in this game which kind of gives me some idea of wanting to hold off till I hit it. Of course since the game also doesen't actually do levelling in that way I guess I have to be somewhat worried I'm going to hit some of the upcoming big confrontations 'under levelled'. We'll see. Still trying to figure out what side quests to do and what not to do for 'RP' reasons. About the only RP you can do in a non RPG. Also found this game's answer to the Valkyrie's I am quite sure. The Beserkers. Which is just as crazy and seems the bosses don't have levels so I can't tell if I am ready for this fight from a gear standpoint...or if I suck and should consider lowering the difficulty for these fights. Hmm. Final Fantasy 7(remake)Don't think I've mentioned how much I am enjoying Cloud as a character in this. He is the most serious most out of place grump in the history of grumps. Like a super straight man in this realm of weirdos, hotties, and really dandies. He just seems constantly off put on just how damn cheery everyone is, namely Aerith and Tifa. Its like Jon Snow is dumped on the set of Barney or something idk. And not much in the way of main questing here...got to some side questing here as well. Trying to remember...oh yeah first up had to pick and deliver some flowers for the main part of the main quest I did. But then did side quests. Found some Shinra weapons which were actually tougher/ more grindy it seemed then the actual bosses I've fought which is interesting. Though it seems this game is suffering from a bit of a difficulty spike which is not something I am sure I object to... at least until I get more of a handle on things. I also found out what all those 'Moogle medals' are for which I have been collecting. Basically another form of currency. Oh and Aerith is not in the Shinra defectors database which is...interesting and kind of huh worthy. Final plot development of the night on the way to doing side quests I ran into another Turk boss fight, part of that difficulty spike he kicked my butt so I had to pay attention and had to balance things more. Both fun and frustrating given how much he stun locked me. Also there is a blcok button in this game but without the modern ARPG convenience of bad guys really advertising their stuff I'm not sure what good I'm doing with it but it bears looking into it. But after I finally got the upper hand with the limit attack the Turk got a message from the one we ran into before, he has some sort of job in sector 7. Suppose that is for next time.

God of War Ragnarok
I do grow more convinced that the side quests are designed specifically to grind some time whatever else their lore implications and whatever is going on. Of course I'm also big dumb dumb about such things but spent quite awhile going up and down one side of Vanheim and down the other. On the one hand I did kill enough Ravens to get the first chest open and while it has an interesting enough perk its also two levels below pretty much all the armor I have now...and gear level is all important in this game. I also found out what that old article I read meant by the Spear of Draupnir being useful for getting back to Freyr's Camp. Thought I had found a way back to the side quests I wanted to do buuuttt it led right to Freyr's camp instead. Interesting though dissapointing.
I finally did find the way though and it made sense in the end but still, annoying. It was one of those overlooks where you recreate a rune and then have Freya speak it, and it opened the gate she needed to do.
First one I found Lunda's orb that she has been obsessing about just on the ground.
Second one heavy lore dump as we go through the site of Freya's wedding. I feel so sorry for her now. She's led a rather long life. Been througha lot of crap. Specifically the story was relayed on where the marriage soured. How she refused to teach him magic and how he went rather beserk when she refused to use the same protection spell that she used on Baldur. And how her own people turned their back on her, calling her traitor, and viewing the marriage...well as a betrayal. And that is only how far I got. Man they have weird thigns here, plants which seem to be immortal and then do rapid fire spitting at you.

Trails to Azure Finished my first run. The end of chapter 3 got pretty wild and stayed that way through the game. Kinda lost interest in the story by the end, so had a blast jamming to music while going through the final dungeon. Thankfully it was fairly straightforward. Still feel frustrated thinking about the final dungeon in Trails in the Sky.
Final bond was Tio, but qualified for Wazy and Randy as well and those scenes were really nice too. But alas, Tio won that choice.
Ended up with 2nd rank Detective, since I missed a quest in chapter 1 which made me loose out on at least two more quests and had some fairly dumb moments when picking answers in the game. And most of them were like "oh yeah, I'm dumb" instead of feeling unfair.
Got all the chests so don’t need to worry about that. Also got enough points that I could buy all the NG+ stat bonuses, so will probably at least try starting a souped up NG+ run on nightmare. And then debate if I want to try out Cold Steel or Baldur's Gate 3. Since one has Anime and the other has Astarion...
All in all I really liked the game. Did find the story fairly interesting, even if I'm a bit puzzled on why it happened. But like it still made sense, so that was nice. Also had so many moments kinda wishing the stakes were "smaller" like in Zero. In a good way. So it was nice.

At this rate all future Bioware games will be half done and modders need to rescue it for free.
