So persisting with Skyrim despite a few quests not allowing me to continue them, maybe I tried to pursue them too early and broke them unfortunately. Decided to get myself to Thane level at Whiterun to get a house. Did some tasks already for the Jarl and then killed a Dragon and Thomas The Silent discovered he was Dragonborn. This caused some old blokes to shout at him and he was was supposed to go see them but pursuing romance instead is taking Thomas all over Skyrim. That journely led to killing another Dragon and gaining another word of power for a "Shout". Now in Riften but going to avoid doing anything there for now, still tryin to find the vendor in Whiterun's husband for her. The game is very pretty with all the MODS I have to say. Hanging with the Jarl Got a house from this guy and did all the additions. It said it had a Childs Bedroom, so I adopted one but damned if I could find it unless she is going to sleep with Lydia my new housecarl. She has not shown up at the house either, maybe I have to be married? My new daughter My new Housecarl My potential wife, don't read the comment in the second shot if you are easily offended Thomas the Dragon slayer err Dragonborn

I decided to skip replaying the campaign with my seasonal druid and jumped into the seasonal content instead. There is a story here at least. I finally finished my class quest and now just have gather enough spirit boons to max out all the animal spirits. I used 150 so need another 250 to max them all. I figure by the time I get back around to the druid grove I should have enough.

God of War RagnorokThe Realms at WarThis quest basically ended up with three core components in the end.
A bog standard poor man's suicide mission full of combat encounters. I mean the combat design is impressive enough in this game but just fighting through waves of mindless mooks without any gameplay connections. Still a lot of fun watching said allies continue to fight and the stuff you have done all game continue to come to fruition.
Second off a bunch of neat little story moments though. Flipping in between Atreus and Kratos and well getting all caught up on things. The main highlights of this was first off we discovered that Odin had basically tied all the humans to the wall. So Ragnarok and their armies would have to go through them to get to Odin and company. Atreus starts to repeat the lessons of his father and 'close his heart to the suffering'. Kratos tells him to be better, and to open his heart to the suffering, that is what makes Atreus Atreus. He has Freya and Freyr go off to try and buy time and maybe convince 'Ragnarok' to hold off a little bit. It does not go well. Kratos and Atreus go to warn people and save as many as they could. Then Thrud shows up and is rather pissed by Atreus's betryal...but pleasent and set up surprise Sif shows up to and confirms what Atreus is telling her. So Odin is starting to lose his allies and his lies and manipulations are continuing to catch up to him...only Thor really remains.
And Thor did indeed show up...so this is basically the boss fights and the endings. First Thor, rather bog standard fight. Still at the end with Kratos whipping Thor within an inch of his life but chooses to stay his hand. Thor is perplexed but he mentions that Thrud is a friend and that Kratos trusts Atreus and thus her and thus has no intention of killing Thor. Thor also relents and Odin shows up and is all...well very Odin at this point on it. And kills Thor. Blames us for it. And a three stage boss fight starts. Odin was a lot more tougher nut to crack using magic and shields. But at the end it was super neat that I had control of both Freya and Atreus to help me.
Then the ending starts. Odin acting cowed asks Loki to finish what he started with the mask and that he can learn the truth of everything. Kratos tells him is its his chance. Was wondering if it actually gave us a choice but Atreus breaks the mask in two, a powerful display, really brings the thematic choices of the game into focus considering that everyone wanted to know their fate, Odin, Atreus, they wanted answers...but Odin's lust for answers and power is what ultimatley drove him insane. Drove him into being a manipulator. He was so insistent on trying to control his destiny that he used everyone around him in this so such a pursuit could be poison itself.
From there we defeat Odin and Atreus puts his soul in one of the giant marbles, Freya votes to spare him...but then at the end Sindri comes along and just smashes it to bits. I can't blame him for a second, I believe in redemption, but he does make his choices...quite unrepentent about it. Maybe one day but him just being stuck in a marble...that is not exactly a redemptive fate...probably. Anyways though Ragnarok catches up to us and we have one final conversation, Freyr sacrifices himself, and Angroborda rescues us.
In the end, one final conversation about prophecy takes place. Took maybe a little while to come to the conclusion though the game does let you know. First we find out that Faye broke the Loki mural, defied her people, specifically to let Kratos and Atreus have their own choices. This kind of brings to mind the idea that prophecy can bind you despite your best intentions. If you know your fate then even if you try and fight it it will be in the back of your mind and you may be sub consiously taking steps towards it whether you want to or not. And this did come up in the game, with the Heimdal thing, with Ragnarok, despite everything and knowing their fate they were still making choices dragging them along it. There were definitley larger forces at play here, maybe forces with their own agenda or perspective. the Norns. Them telling Kratos about Heimdall put the plans really into motion. And the mask, still don't know what it was about but it seemed to want to be completed. But that does bring us to part number two because Kratos mentions that they got there because of Atreus's choices. Which is really nice because the murals showed Tyr leading the armies. Showed some of the armies. But none of the specific allies that Atreus recruited. It showed Kratos's death and Atreus serving Odin. Probably because it was focusing on what would have happened if Kratos was the one who was leading it, his choices would've led to this dark thing, and that is what the prophecy led to.
Though it seems defying one prophecy leads to still more because of changing their fate and the Giants abilities Loki has visions about him finding the other giants. He goes off with Angroborda...leaving Kratos behind. Then Kratos discovers a new fate for himself. A new mural hidden behind the other. Of him being properly worshipped and thanked as a proper and legitimate god. Not of war. Not of destruction. Now he vows to heal the lands in the aftermath of Ragnarok.

Still Skyrim: Did a bit of the cc stuff that came with the AE and generally tried to thin out my backlog of misc quests while slowly doing the Dawnguard questline. Man that one really sends you all over the map a lot. I am level 70 now and still haven't really progressed the main quest yet. But I have done the master ritual quests for the magic shcools of destruction, restoration, alteration and conjuration at this point. As alteration master, I now have the "Milestones" Spell (which I think is from the Odin Spells mod). It allows me to set 5 teleport locations to which I can then return at any time. Very handy to avoid all that quicktravel time waste (not that it really matters but it bugged me). Also, "Deep Storage" is a fantastic spell, which basically gives you a second unlimited inventory. Managing my character's shit now often takes longer than actual adventuring at this stage, which is a bit tedious. But I also have all my houses completely furnished now, so I am finally at that point where I barely need to pick anything up anymore. Still seems like a waste though. Merchants just don't have enough gold in this game. I already doubled it with the barter mod but it's still not enough. Also, thanks to a friend's family share, i could actually try out Baldur's Gate 3: I have just started and played for 2-3 hours now, so i only did that initial "tutorial level" and have just set out in the actual first area. Got my first party of 4 together by the end of yesterday night but so far, we are all rogues and wizards, so I desperately need a tank. My own character certainly doesn't help. I am basically playing an elderly gnomish professor (Cleric of the domain of knowladge), well educated and knowledgeable but also a bit scatterbrained. I reset the attributes so that he has massive wisdom and intelligence but basically, no strength, endurance or dexterity so he's completely useless in a fight. He'll certainly have to rely on his companions for combat but he does have some cool dialogue options, due to his expertise in so many matters (from medicine to nature to anything arcane). When I started, I wasn't sure I really liked the game. I am not the biggest fan of iso-perspective games and honestly, I hate that they don't allow me to have KotOR-like controls with M/KB. That really sucks. Also, I was a bit overwhelmed because I am not a massive D&D buff and even in the CC they already bombard you with jargon to no end, both on the rules on the lore side. It was really hard to get into the swing of things. But slowly but surely I am warming up to it. Probably won't make it through a whole PT in August (and come September it's Starfield-time) but I'll see how far I get with this dude.

Yeah same here come the end o fSeptrember I'll be bus ywith FC24 but it doesn't look like I'll be beta testing this year thoug has I've no tbeen emailed with a code to do so. So I'm kind of sticking with my comfort games unti ltha tdrops for now. Currently playing Fifa 23 atm but I' m kind of thinking about returning t o my DAI or MEA playthrough's tbh given I have playthroughs on the go for both games and they're both great for killing time. May also use th etime to finish my Dark Hunter on Midnight Suns. Will finish another season or 2 on Fifa 23 first befoer I consider it though. I would have loved to have beta tested and had a sneak peak a sto what EA were doin gthis year but it doesn't look like it's going to happen like it did last year.

More Skyrim, went to find Carlotta's husband, found him and a note and a Teddy Bear for the Daughter Mila. Romanced Carlotta and the kid now calls me Papa. Did an Immersive quest for Lydia the Breezehome Housecarl which involved a sub-quest involving the Blacksmith Adrianne needing some Ore from I think it is Anneke Crag-Jumper who you can get as a follower and maybe romance later on. Have to do a quest for her but I wanted to complete Lydia and Adrianne's quest. Did that and apparently is having intimacy issues with her husband so after The Dragonborn overcame Lydia's reluctance to have a relationship she also was happy to help with Adrianne's issues as well. Let's just say this Collection and some of it's MODS are indeed Immersive!!!!! That said it has been fun doing extended quest lines for all the characters you can romance if a little corny and out there in some parts. The Collection is also not for anyone who does not like nudity etc. The place you find Carlotta's husband is a labyrinth and I was expecting to be so long and I also had a lot of travel to get there. Got myself some more Shout words and a Dragon Priest Mask. talyn82 id their a mod that hides the masks and Hoods, Helmets etc, that you can recommend? So after the that returned to Whiterun and did a bit of running around, my adopted child finally made an appearance and I gave her some treats, made her do some chores and then played hide and seek with her. Told her to go outside and play with the other kids but she didn't want to wasn't sure whether to make her do that. My adopted daughter My other sort of daughter Carlotta Lydia Not sure what this guys deal was impersonating an Imperial then turning out to be a Storm Cloak Officer New Word of Power

I broke my game, I updated a whole heap of the MODS in the collection (took me hours) and then the game wouldn't launch and so I started the game without Vortex and it had lots of errors then said the save was corrupted and the game would not launch at all. Apparently you are not supposed to do updates so why does the collection TELL YOU there are updates available!!!!! I have uninstalled the collection I used and deleted anything related to the game and am now reinstalling the collection so hopefully that works, I really don't want to have to uninstall the game and reinstall the collection and start over.

dazk that's terrible. Next time look up the mod on nexus before updating it. Some mods are safe to upgrade during a playthrough and some are not and need you start a new game. I hope everything goes well for you.

I hope everything goes well for you. I did look them up and there was an updated version, the problem is the collection in the fine print says don't update anything they do that once they check the new version is compatible. I just uninstalled the game, after doing everything Isaid above when reinstalling the collection, it had numerous issues. The game started ut when I clicked LOAD on a save the black screen comes up and then the game disappears/exits back to the Vortex Launcher. I'll start by reinstalling the game again then going through the other processes but it is so annoying as I got up early to play and have achieved nothing. If I have to start again so be it I don't mind but it's very frustrating.

dazk you may have to download the mods you want yourself. That way you'll have better control over your modlist. There are a ton of mods on nexus. Also I forgot to mention the Bashed Patch. Download the program called Wrye Bash on nexus and once you have the mods you want installed (whether you downloaded them yourself or you downloaded the collection). Open the program scroll to the bottom of the list of plugins and you will see an empty plugin called Bashed Patch. Right-click on it and select rebuild patch. After a few minutes it will ask you if you want to activate it click yes and now start the game. The reason I mention the Bashed Patch is because it usually fixes whatever problem you're having. Also if you launch the game and it crashes after the Bethesda logo that usually means your missing a mod that one of the other mods depends on.

dazk there must be something wrong with the collection you're using. You should just manually download the mods you want and install them. It's a long process but at least you'll have control of what you installed. Because I have around 500 mods installed and my game never crashes.

God of War RagnarokThe after the main story game of this game is kind of...interesting. There is a few things to it that are kind of typical of this, trying to tie off a few loose ends. But there is more to it. I don't think this game has gotten a DLC or expansion to it, though I suppose that might be worth double checking later...obviously. But pretty sure that's a no. So, in general parlance what this game seems to be doing in some part is 'sequel baiting'. But in the weird video game way of setting up for DLC or expansions with things going on. Because its a thing these games do, Far Cry 6 did it, just have more gameplay after the main story to pass the time until more of the good stuff comes out. Except there is no more good stuff in this case. Beyond Ragnarok"A hole".
"What?"
"What gets bigger the more you take from it."
So basically tonight the play session included two through threads. Finding the real Tyr in the botom of a prison in Asgard. Here it is hypothesized that this was a place for those Odin would want to impersonate one day. Interesting concept.
But from there he goes to travel the nine realms and you can run into him. Got to Svaltheim and the Alfheim areas. The first one talked about the whale thing that we saved and the second place we talked about Freyr and he wanted to pay his respects. Does beg the question of...what happens if you never did the quest?
Second bit was from the funeral for Brok. Where the quote was come. The answer to the riddle that Brok posed to Mimir. Which was...quite thematic in the end. Said shortly after Sindri dissapeared after lighting the fire arrow that set Brok's funeral pyre ablaze. And well we have no way of knowing where Sindri goes...but the answer tot he riddle does echo Sindri's words shortly after Broc's death, about how Atreus and Kratos has just taken and taken and taken everything Sindri has had, because he offered it in the way. But the hole is, or at least was, the ruin of Sindri's life.

We continue the journey of collecting things we missed on Coruscant and then in Jedha, that double Rancor fight is hard:

God of War RagnarokBeyond RagnarokSo the Tyr remnants...well kind of sucky that there is no marker on any of these maps.
Also kind of sucky seems you can't see his aspect in Helheim if you finish the Hel Tear side quest first.
Him in Musphelheim was kind of cool though. Talking at the Spark of the World which is just a stellar location. Talked about Sutr and Sinmara, who is very sad
In Vanheim talked about Freyr and Freya. How Freya was able to turn the tide because of her connection to Vanheim. Again, beautiful.
Then in Midgard he had nothing to say. And that is the end of my God of War playthrough. And at the end by now I do tend to give at least little blurbs on this because I feel like a lot of these entries help point to what I like and what I dislike about the game in general so there would be some repition. But as I knew I was getting to the end of this game there were two through threads to my thoughts. 1. Perhaps a bit unfairly in some regards because its a statement I kept coming back to in my head but also 'but wait, there's more.' This game is, from at least some perspective, the best sequel to any game I have ever played. Ugh that is such a prisoner of the moment take...but I'm just so impressed with how they have basically naturally improved on everything from the first game without really going too far out of the way to change things. Thematically. Character wise. Gameplay wise. Just everything across the baord feels better because I liked the first game well enough but it also did have its issues. 2. This game is a real return to form for my experience with gaming in a lot of ways. And I feel so torn. The last time I played a game this good consistently was Assassins Creed Odyssey/ Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Just another one of those quitessential 'bubble games' between tier 1 and tier 2. But gaming again for me peaked, not that the games I've been playing since then have been bad, namely Hogwarts Legacy and ACV, just wouldn't make any 'best of' lists if that makes sense. But even then I do feel like its that classic problem in some ways of the 'bubble game' since there is a lot that this game did well...but not sure I can in good consiounce make it one of the creame of the crop games...either going to be very high tier 2 or very low tier 1. So good things: Combat in this game is amazing and much approved. The puzzles also seemed to be a lot better sort of, IDK, just probably the best thing is fewer and farther in between or just better in general. Dunno for sure. Characterization and the arcs are superb, been watching vids on it. Story. Theme. While we have been having some conversation on it I do think this game has some definite BioWar infleunce. And of course...the score. Bear McCreary is just the best: r.search.yahoo.com/_ylt=Awrgws0zZ9dkRpAYcABXNyoA;_ylu=Y29sbwNncTEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny/RV=2/RE=1691867060/RO=10/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.youtube.com%2fwatch%3fv%3dAXwUy2uoI_M/RK=2/RS=RjvGriqz2_ndqGXsbXcKZJy99FM-Worse parts. The save system and probably the most damning thing of all, don't think its going to have a lot of replayability for me. May run through both games some day but don't have a lot of desire to do this again, some of that heavy subject matter, some of it owing to it not being an RPG so not doing or refining different choices. So ultimatley, tier 2.

So making more progress in Skyrim but small step by small step. I have broken a few quests or probably got worse results because I have done it to soon, missed a step or shot someone instead of seeing if there was dialogue to be had. All side quests so I just couldn't be bothered going back but one I will see if I can use the Set Stage command to progress it. The main issue was I was just jumping all over the map trying to get rid of some miscellaneous quests, I have promised myself today to just clear White Run stuff where possible. I adopted an Orc kid doing the quest for the "cursed" Orc Chief, my other two adoptees at Breezehome seem to have disappeared though, maybe they'll respawn or I have too many now. Here's Nissa she is a cute kid even for an Orc. Can't remember if I posted the elven kid I adopted Ligan Stumbled on this quest and this is where I think I shot first and asked questions later, not sure if you can resolve anything with Illia's mum. And a change of armour and look at all that beautiful hair. Another Dragon Defeated and that reminds me Greybeards first, think I said that last time!!!

In Diablo 4, I finished the Season 1 storyline and now not sure if I will continue running with my Druid to finish more chapter goals, go back to my Necromancer on Nightmare difficulty, or start a new class altogether.

Final Fantasy 7.
This game just raised the steaks and went in a pretty shocking new direction.
Kind of interesting though in a way to because, maybe a bit of a theme when it comes to me, but this feels kind of end game to me. The fight up the pillar to stop Shinra from dropping it on the town below. Things did not go well. In short order, well lost Biggs last time, then tonight definitley lost Jessie and probably lost Wedge too. It was kind of funny because I was thinking to myself 'ah Biggs died and of course you survived' in regards to Jessie...but then she blew herself up with her own grenade essentially. Curtesy, it looks like, the shadow creatures distracted her or knocked her grenade off course at the last minute. Then they were also distracting Wedge before said plate fell on him too. So yeah the 'shadow creatures' and their agenda continues to intrigue. Again we know they helped us...at least Aerith...but they also seem bound and determined to stop Avalanche and do as much damage to them as possible, both potentially in terms of reputation and in actuality. Starting to form a little bit of a theory here since Jessie did remind us and well expose how guilty she is still feeling over the original failed explosion in the first part of the game. It seems like these creatures have some connection to 'the planet' because they were seen protecting Aerith, who also was revealed as an 'Ancient' which apparently were the original stewards of the planet.
Though the most interesting thing here is that there is actually a little self reflection from the Avalanche members and more emotion from Cloud. Both Jessie and Tifa express self regret over their previous actions and their involvement in the current circumstances, Tifa remarks 'we did this'...which honestly isn't that bad of a point honestly. But then Barret, obstinate as ever, remarks 'yeah whatever happened Shinra is the one who pulled the trigger today.'...which he is also right on. I mean Shinra is evil but Avalanche certainly didn't do that much to help the situation by their bombings and not caring. Which is kind of the key. I always say whatever happens acknowledge it, don't make excuses, and then move on. So with Avalanche doing self reflection it does help to humanize them.
Of course though the mystery of this all continues to gather and is certainly worth keeping on.
Though I kind of feel like this is a carnivel ride where I'm not sure how to get off to see if I can't do side quests. Don't know if I even can. It just seems to be pushing me along...and really want to investigate and go get Aerith.

I ended up playing more AC Odyssey instead. Finished the poet tale (that one wasn't too bad other than having to fetch multiple items from multiple locations ), did a bounty that was nearby, and then went cultist hunting. Identified and killed the last one from the Silver Vein thread, and am now parked outside the Sage's fortress hoping to take him out. I'm level 45 while he (and his nasty kitty friend) are level 50, but all the mooks around are my level. I can at least take them out first and 'complete' the location, then hopefully the kitty from afar, and then maybe him too. We'll see. The first attempt ended poorly.

Are you using Rush Assassination and have it at level five and using an Assassin/Critical Build? Those higher-level guys you can take 3 to 5 (depending on your spear level and engravings) of them out in one hit with RA. Just watch from about the 2 minute mark until I kill the leader and his MOOKS, this is me with RA full evolved and the spear at L5 with a high CRIT Build.
