So read the article, I am worried about this DLC. I didn't play the DLC for Origins, was over the game by the time I got around to THO and then of what I read of CoTP it is exactly the style of combat I hate, like the Trials of The Gods. I am not good at it skill wise and patience wise. I hope I am wrong but I get the feel its going to be lots on conquest like battles which I am not a fan of and which for the moost part have bypassed except when plot made me participate. The enhanced abilities they used as examples are all things I don't use "Hail of Arrows", "Bull Rush" or am no good at "Continuous Headshots" so I hope their are more. Eh will sit on the sidelines and see what feed back you all comeback with, I hope combat is pretty similar in terms of difficulty and ability use as we have now but not sure my current Alexios build would stand up to it. That said I'd be changing back to Kass and she is still defensively buffed. There's only a single conquest battle, abd there isn't any TotG type stuff. The enemies are tougher than Athenians and Spartans, but they aren't bad. I liked the new challenges. Worst case, you can just turn it down to easy and steamroll everything. I didn't have any of the three skills specced before this DLC. Slow Time is always good, but it competes with great stuff. The enhancements completely change the skills. I now have all three specced and active on my wheels. The upgraded Slow Time will be insane on my Hunter once I switch back to it. The new Bull Rush is a wide and long reaching Area Blast Attack. The arrow ability is a stunning AoE around the character. It requires no aiming, just trigger it and enjoy. The enhanced Ares ability does absolutely insane damage. It also has great visuals. It is a nice representation of what I'd have preferred the Spear of Leonidas be in-game: a powerful weapon that can take many forms. You really should've played CotP at some point. It is really good. It built upon the relative historical blank spot of Akhenaten's reign. It provided a fun, logical story as to why He would discard centuries of polytheism for "the Aten". The realms of the dead were beautiful. It really expanded upon the power of the PoE and the concept of simulated realities. It set the stage for Odyssey and FoA.

Thanks for the heads up, I tried Rain of Arrows and Bull Rush early on when I first started playing and didn't mind RoA but Bull Rush seemed kind of lame. Seems like I'll have to retry it in my current PT in the normal game with Kass. Just swapped out yesterday RoC for the Ares ability on a recommendation by Obsidian Gryphon or Hrungr sorry guys terrible memory. Maybe when I am done with ACOD DLC will try CoTP, still have to do THO as well as the first two times I tried to play it the game crashed.

dazk. Not me. I'm out of ACOD for a while. Busy pursuing a dryad in Kingmaker although I'm not sure whether I made any progress because I asked a certain NPC at an event about the love of the protag. His answer was a dismaying; no one. Oh noes...please don't tell me I made a mistake along the way.

So yesterday after clearing Ithika and returning and sticking the cylops eye up a goats butt, Kass hit Megaris like a whirlwind. Met Stentor, Oh Joy of Joy and then totally forgot about going to see the Spartan soldier to do his quests for him which I am not to concerned about but headed straight to the Fort and took that down, nation chest and all without being spotted. Which makes me wonder how the Mercenary that showed up there knew to go there. but more on "Fu#$ing" Mercenaries later. Then roamed around clearing some camps, visiting a tomb, collecting materials, changing my ship theme to the Celestial one and then cleared the Leader's house to reduce the Nation Power to zero. Off to kill the leader. So this is where the real life ranting started!!! The leader and his guards are at there usual spot at the tent outside the walls (does he ever move?) so I send Ikaros to mark him and make sure there are no other guards or Mercenaries anywhere and then get myself into a nice stealthy shrub to wait for one of the guards to move a bit so I can hit Rush Assassinate and kill them all. Then a damn Wolf runs up barking from behind me and attacks me!!!!!! Apparently being attacked by a wolf is a crime and my bounty jumps from 1 to 4 and all the guards of the leader and the leader himself start attacking (and the damn wolf is still attacking me), plus about 6 guards run out of the fort and 4 F#$king Merc's teleport in at once and join in. So I did as Brave Sir Robin does and RAN AWAY, but of course two of the mercenaries are throwing flame grenades (by the way 2 0f the merc's are the the two top tier one merc's) and I having to use heal all the time and of course another wolf has joined in and I can't get into stealth. Anyway to cut an even longer story short, everyone and everything except me died and I put it down to taking inspiration from my daughter watching Deadpool 2 in the same room. After much vocal swearing and running and killing and then finally some stealth the first four Merc's died plus another that happened along and so did the leader and his guards and a few other guards and some wolves. Kass headed to the nearest taverna and I had several beers to celebrate as well. Brave Sir Robin: Pic's Yep go chase the goat: Barnabas is such a good NPC, its fun having him as a companion, do wish he had a pet space hamster though: Adrestia tricked up all Celestial, including the crew and Kass: Aya and Athena gossiping about how jealous they are of Kass's hair:

Found a hilarious XP exploit video... Teabaggin' to Level 99! ROFL that's pretty funny!!!!!! Sort of defeats the purpose of the game for me though as getting to L99 is my objective this PT. I like getting rewarded for doing things if I was already L99 I'd lose interest in completing the game completely.

So, still playing the AC3 remaster (Sequence 10 now). Once you get used to the weird faces, it's quite fun and later in the game, I think the story and especially how it intertwines with the revolution gets quite good actually. I like that it's not "Templars = brits, Assassins = Patriots" or something like that but it's way more complicated. Also, still love Kennway, the missions you do with him are hilarious at times, due to his dry remarks. Also, I can't remember now if this was already in the original but I was quite impressed by some of the weather effects yesterday. It started raining and you could actually watch the muddy road getting wet and puddles as well as waggon trails filling up with water. I don't think they changed any of that for the remaster but if this was already there in the 2012 version, it's quite impressive for the time. Also did a lot of homestead missions. Goes to show how rudimentary interpersonal relationships still were in AC3. The romance plot between Norris the miner and Myriam the huntress is sort of sweet but it lacks some serious dialogue towards the end (when she gets cold feet before the marriage, there is no resolution of it and the wedding itself is done in one single sentence by the pastor). This wouldn't fly today. Still, I had forgotten how fleshed out the inhabitants of the homestead actually were. Those little stories are a really nice addition. You can definitely tell that they tried to make the whole brotherhood mechanics more personal than they were in Ezio's games. The only thing is that the economy is the worst in any AC game IMO. I have no desire whatsoever to click myself through endless horrible menus to buy shit from my guys and craft other shit which I than sell in yet another menu. That's just crazy bad. Fortunately, I have no intention of buying everything in the game (ignoring a lot of side stuff now because I want to go on with Black Flag , Rogue and then Unity afterwards) and between 10.000 for each Fort and some opportunistic hunting, I should get enough money for what I want to buy (mainly the Aquilla upgrades to make the sea battles a little easier). Also did the Brazil present day mission. While it is pretty clear that the game mechanics are sort of squeezed in and barely work in the modern day settings, I still like the contrast that the present day missions provide. It is refreshing to have a few missions in a completely different setting, especially since - let's face it - the colonial architecture doesn't really provide much variety (Boston and New York do look kinda the same for example). I woulnd't have wanted more missions than are in the game now though. Just a little break every 7 hours or so is fine. Anyway, all in all still a fun game. Hope I'll get through it this week and move on to Black Flag.

Finished the AC3 remaster. Good bye Desmond.Personally, I am not sure why so many people complained so much about the ending. I think it's perfectly fine. The only really shitty thing is that you can't skip the 20 minutes (!!!) long credits. WTF? And of course, the fact that Desmond dies is the origin of Ubisoft's consecutive fuckups with the present day story of the series going forward. But other than that, I think it's all good. So I started out on the Liberation remaster now. I had not played Liberation before. So far, I like it (am in sequence 2 in the Bayu now). Sure, the graphics are a bit more simplistic, it's a mobile port after all, but it's alright and the swamp for example has some nice coloring and lighting going on. It's a nice setting, that we didn't really have before in an AC game. What I really like is the persona system, where Aveline changes from the slave garb, to assassin or lady garments and each one has their own little twist on gameplay. That's really cool. So far, most missions make you change but I think I am barely out of the tutorial stuff and I hope I'll get to choose more on my own going forward.

Finished (through sheer force of will) AC3 for the first time. Back in the day it was the only AC game that I started and never finished and also the reason I didn’t even bother with Liberation. The Remaster did not make it better…
Where to start…
The bloody useless horse? Oh, noes, there is a tiny bump in the path and your big horse can’t pass through even though he jumps over other big obstacles. And you can’t see it because of the snow, but there is the same bump under it and you can’t horse through even though there is no indication as to why. On that note, too much of the game forces you to run from objective to objective from one side of the map to the other and the fast travel points are terrible.
The terrible controls (tried both PC and gamepad)? The character doing his own f*****g thing half the time instead of what you just told him to? Like jump at the highlighted guy right below and in front of you and instead Connor jumps in a 180-degree direction across a rooftop ledge at someone else. And pray that a running Connor doesn’t get too near to a part of a building, market stall, tree or whatever else. Because he can be half a meter away from it and suddenly he gets the urge to climb. Even when it’s something he can’t climb and just falls back. Priceless when it happens in a chase sequence…
Crappy stealth? There is really no good way to sneak around without it getting boring and annoying. The camera is too narrow (gimme a FoV slider dammit). No crouching. And if a guard even slightly spots Connor you can’t hide in a bush or anything…because that is what people do when being spotted, they just go and say “you got me, officer” … Enemies know you are a suspect even though you only alerted one guy for a split second half a mile away and killed him before he could tell anyone.
The too often forced and awful combat? You can’t attack this guy, can’t disarm that guy and can’t counter punch another guy. And when all types gang on you…pray you have quick reflexes to figure who is who and that the stupid camera is not obstructed by a tree or whatever (happens way too often and you can’t see anything).
The naval stuff…ugh…
The game tries to have too many stuff in it and honestly feels too disjointed to me since there is no single thing it excels at. It has annoying flaws in every department. The only thing that I had a bit of fun with was leveling and using the assassins. The missions to unlock them were a repeatable pain though, like most stuff in the game.
The story overall was ok, but the period and events are not something I am interested in. Maybe it wasn’t well presented I guess. Perhaps the game tried to throw in too many events that a US native (heh) learns in history class and as a result the pacing felt too episodic, jumping randomly from one spot to another, instead of a flowing story. And the characters were not anything special as well.
The DLC was a bit better, mostly because of “magic”, but it also suffered from the same issues as the main game.
Dabbled a bit with Liberation. It feels too much as AC3 and I am not sure I have the will to finish it too. Aveline is fine and there are some new mechanics, but I don’t think they bring anything new to the table and are mostly cosmetic stuff. The wardrobe with 3 different personas has so much potential, but instead it barely makes any gameplay difference.

So I've been playing AC Rogue Remastered, there is a computer that you repair that has Berg talking about the Vikings. Wasn't there a 'leak' a while back that the 2020 game is about Vikings?
