Woot?!? Only 1/3rd played Kass? Shame! Not my fault though, I only did a Kassandra PT so far. I do plan to do an Alexios one evetually, so in the end it'll be 50/50 from my side.
Anyway, for the moment, i am still playing Rogue. Not much to report though, I mainly sweeped the New York and the Riverlands and did side stuff (there is SO MUCH side stuff!!!). Now I am swimming in money, have almost all the buyable upgrades and am looking forward to getting back to the main story.

Was just about to post that article!!!!! It's a bit of a nothing article, the dev's have it right I think but I kept waiting for the journalist to ask some more inciteful questions. I was surprised by the 2 to 1 ratio of Alexios v Kassandra players. People don't know what they are missing out on!!!!! Yeah, I was a bit surprised as well... especially given that Kass/Melissanthi gets about 98.7% of all the good press! Melissanthi was amazing, but I definitely prefer Alexios. One problem with the game pushing 130 hours per PT at this point is that character-fatigue can set in pretty badly. I was tired of Kassandra after about 80 hours of my most recent PT, despite the phenomenal performance. 50 hours later, I just put down the game mid-DLC. It was as much game-fatigue as protag-fatigue, but still. There's much to be said in favor of less bloated games. Too much of a good thing is still too much.

Does the character selector default to male in Odyssey, I don't remember? It was one of the reasons given for Mass Effect as the most played character was the default Shepard with 0 customization (not even class) as if people didn't realize they could customize the character. They changed it in MEA to make it random, but BioWare never shared stats for it. Saying that, it's an encouraging value for Ubisoft, as BioWare has a female fanbase larger than most gaming companies do and I doubt they were interested in Assassin's Creed that much before Odyssey. I am not sure, it was so long ago but I thought it presented both options at the same time IIRC. Its amazing how many people choose default, I for the life of me cannot ever choose default I have to make some change!!!!! In probably at 50+ PT's of all the MET and MEA games combined I never once used the default Shepard or Ryder except as a starting point. That's a good point re the female stat's and Bioware V Ubisoft.

My first PT was Kass and then I tried an Alexios but stopped after visiting the Pythia I just wasn't enjoying it and am now doing a Kass NG+ PT. I really am surprised it's only 1/3 that have played Kass, I'd love to see how the numbers are generated, if it is a straight count of games started as one or the other that'd really surprise me but based on azarhal comment it probably shouldn't. On the other hand as Hrungr said Melissanthi Mahut/Kassandra has been generating most of the press!!!! Re Rogue yeah its not stingy which is good, the side quests got too much for me at one stage and I abandoned them and went back and did them at the end. Those damn timed ones, god I hate them.

I must admit I am struggling ATM to stay engaged but I am close enough to the end of the main story lines that its keeping me going and I am deliberately skipping some quests if I don't have a good memory of them in the previous PT.

I believe that statistic. The DLC was certainly written with Alexios in mind instead of Kassandra.

I'm pretty sure it's dependent on where you left your mouse cursor (or the console equivalent) . Started a new game for laughs and my mouse was more to the left, so Alexios was highlighted, then looked at a youtube video and for him Kass was highlighted. Checked two more, one had the mouse slightly to the right so for him Kassandra was highlighted, other had it more right and she had Alexios highlighted. You can even start with neither highlighted, but you need to have your cursor sandwiched between the two options, which isn't really likely for a first time player. (Also took me two times before I realized I can do NG+ and skip the Leonidas battle. Heh.)

(Also took me two times before I realized I can do NG+ and skip the Leonidas battle. Heh.) That makes sense. The cursor always defaults toward the right side of the screen on PS4, regardless of which controller I use. They really seemed to aim for balanced support, advertising, etc... Kassandra got a ton of screen time in the later ads without Alexios completely disappearing. With games like this one, and most of Bioware's games, I tend to split my PTs 50/50 between each protagonist. The VA, the story, NPCs and/or other factors can push me to prefer one or the other. With Odyssey I like both protagonists, but slightly favor Alexios. I think the story fits him better in certain moments, though Melissanthi delivered a flawless performance.

Still playing Rogue (I don't have that much time for gaming these days and I want to do most of the side stuff, so this takes a while). But I finally managed to beat the goddam Storm Fortress last night! Took me a couple of tries. In the end, the only tactic that worked was to use charge heavily to basically hug her stern, chip away at her with puckle guns and forward cannons and to - excuse my language - ram her up the rear whenever possible. Still, when the other two Man O'Wars showed up (which are rather pathetic in comparison) they almost sunk me after all. I think I managed to destroy the last one just before it was about to fire the shot that would have sunk the Morrigan. Felt good though and I do think the Master Templar outfit you get looks very cool:

Yes I did, in both PTs I made through Black Flag. For some reason, I never had much of an issue with the Impoluto. I think this time around I got her on the second try without too much trouble. Maybe it was just luck but for me, it was the Storm Fortress. I checked and saw that I apparently gave up on her during my first Rogue PT a couple of years ago (the save was still there). So I'm happy I finally got my revenge.

Unity had a lot of positives. Sadly, the botched launch ensured that it was flamed behind all reason.
Its parkour was absolutely perfect. No game before or after has offered such precise control during navigation. I still try and fail to begin wall-running at an angle other than 90°. The parkour animations were mo-capped and absolutely beautiful. The heavy footed clunkiness of Bayek and Alexios/Kassandra are sad in comparison. Syndicate's parkour was just dreadful.
I keep hoping that we'll see another suitably acrobatic Assassin protagonist at some point.

I pre-ordered Unity for PC. It was unplayable for 4 months. I was mad. BUT! Once I could play I loved it. I miss being a stealthy acrobatic Assassin too. I dream of the day when it might return to that *dreamy sigh*

P.S Also - HELLO! and alsoalso, I prefer Alexios. Still and forever FIGHT ME! Good to see you, so to speak. 😀 I was sick and/or lurking for months. Now, I'm taking an overdue break from Odyssey, and recently jumped into a new MEA playthrough. I prefer Alexios, too. His humor, whether it's sarcasm, eye-rolling or whatever else, endears him to me. I love the guy. My current PT, aborted in Hades, ran out of steam in part because I really missed Alexios. I was missing him a lot 80 hours into it. By the time I was plowing through the DLC (130 hours?), I was thoroughly tired of Kass.

Finished Syndicate a couple days ago. Was fun enough. The twins were likeable and the gameplay mostly solid. Anything that involved driving was HORRIBLE and the story was meh with a flat ending. I actually preferred Unity in terms of story and I also liked Arno more than Jacob & Evie (I also played Unity fairly recently). While I found the twins likeable, they never got much depth at all, while I felt Arno actually got some character development and that I knew more about him. Jacob was just the impulsive and reckless one that made quips, while Evie was the rational & serious one who cleans up her brother's messes. They bicker. There's really nothing else to them. I was hoping that the sporadic mentions of a dead father might lead to something interesting that would flesh both of them out a bit more, but nope. Started Origins yesterday. Feels overall like a huge, needed leap forward for the series. The environments are gorgeous and I feel like I already know Bayek better than the twins from Syndicate even though I only just left the tutorial area and had my first, short section in the present day. Senu is adorable and useful (though admittedly not as useful as being able to eagle vision every enemy nearby through walls at a whim...). The one thing I'm not sure if I like more or less than how it was before is the redesigned combat. I kinda liked how it worked in previous games, but on the other hand that is one of the things that have been basically the same in the AC games FOREVER, so I get trying something different with it for once. I definitely don't dislike it, but I'm not sure if I like it more or less than the old combat. Oh, and I'm inherently predisposed to dislike the present day character who is piloting Bayek in the Animus, since she's apparently a Templar who is motivated purely by petty ambition and moving up the corporate ladder.

Pretty sure once Senu tags an enemy that they become visible through walls etc. I can't remember the mechanic/key for Origins but in Odyssey it "V" on PC to launch the eagle and if you hold it down it does a pulse like eagle vision instead of launching the eagle. Combat on Origins I found a chore mainly because of the shield, but ye the environments and story are great but the fort gameplay mechanics become quite repetitive.

I finally finished Rogue yesterday. Only thing I didn't do was to finish the Naval Campaign, whoever designed that stupid stupid mini game should probably get out of game design. This is even worse than the fleet in Black flag. 33 real timed missions, that I just need to click on and have no other connection with whatsoever. And they are gated by the main story progression so that the last 5 (each of which apparently takes 2-3 hours to count down) only unlock after you already finished the game? WTF?
Anyway, so no admiral's outfit for me, who cares.
Started Unity and having a blast so far (not that far in yet). The graphical leap from Black Flag/Rogue to unity is pretty amazing (I think it was the leap from PS3 to 4, right? All the cloth and velvet was amazing detail and just looks very very real. The lighting and particle effects and the crowds in Paris also look amazing. If I have one complaint about the visuals, it's that some animations look weird, one of which is unfortunately Arno's running animation, which you see all the time. He looks great when is' climbing and vaulting but when he's simply running, he throws his arms out in a very weird way. Also, when you walk through dense crowds of people, their animations are lackluster as well, it almost looks like they are just glitching to the side when you come close. Oh yea, and Arno's standard assassin's cloak is by far the blandest one ever in an AC (especially viewed from the back, which is what you see most of the time during gameplay). Ah well, I hope (and I think from looking through the menus) some upgrades will take care of that over time though. But those issues aside, it's a stunning game visually.
I had started Unity a few years ago and never got very far but I haven't reached the point yet, where I'd see something new really. So far, I do like Arno as a character though, he certainly has more charm than Connor, Edward or Sahy and he has a bit of a sarcastic streak to him, which is nice. I'm curious how his story will unfold. I am a bit disappointed, that they make a rather sudden time jump from 1789 right on to 1791 though. Lot's of interesting stuff happened in that time, I'd have like to see the fishwives and other rioters storm Versailles and force the king and queen to move to Paris (while parading the heads of their palace guards in front of their carriage on spikes no less). Also, some characters are pretty poorly introduced. For example, I know already had a few dealing with the comte de Mirabeau but he didn't really get much of an introduction and doesn't even have a Database entry (yet?). He was a fairly central figure in the Revolution and also seems to be very central to the game but if I didn't already know a lot about the French Revolution from history classes/books, I'd have no idea who this guy is supposed to be or what his significance is. There is already a few characters that share this problem. But still, I'm very curious how this will go one as I am still very early in the game.
One thing I absolutely hate about Unity though is all the coop and social stuff they crammed in there, from those club challenges, to the coop missions. It feels like I'll only see 3/4 of the game without doing all that shit (and I really don't want to do it).
Anyway, having fun so far. Onward!
