Oh, btw, anyone going to the symphony tour? They're playing here in Vancouver, and it's tempting, but I'm not sure that's going to align with my holidays. We'll see...

So no AC at the UBI PK at E3? Guess that means we won't see a new AC this year but that is actually a good thing in my book. A year of pause did wonders for the series last time. In fact, I'd be more than happy with a bi- to trianual release, rather than the one-year cycle they kept going at for most of the series. The Story Creator thing really look fantastic. The potential is awesome. Good on you for providing Mod support Ubi. Only thing that seems to be missing is the opportunity to VO (I know it would be bad most of the time but still, I'd like to see ... uh hear it). It would be cool if eventually, we'd be able to provide voice packs, that people can provide separately and that can than be included into the quests by the user (so UBI wouldn't have to host the data and downloads themselves). EDIT: I just tried it out very briefly and it's a fantastic system as far as I can tell. Super easy to use, all working in the browser, yet pretty powerful in what is possible. Kudos Ubi, nicely done!
Also excited about the Tour mode!! I am super happy we get one again for ancient Greece. Loved the one in Egypt. I'm pumped!
In other news, I finished Black Flag (yes, I totally binged through that game ... and it was awesome. dazk you are right, Edward does have some pretty significant character development but in the end, I still think he is an egoistic prick for too much of the game for me to really warm up to him. But that's ok. He was a good pirate protagonist for that very reason after all. And also, finally an AC where it really makes sense to kill everyone who stands in your way. Also played through Freedom Cry (never played the BF DLCs before). Oh boy, that was very bleak after the rather fun and careless Black Flag. The scene on the slave ship towards the end was especially horrifying. It really makes you wonder how humans can do these kinds of things to one another. I mean, it's not that I never heard about the practices of slavery in that time frame before or anything but seeing it illustrated in that fashion does make you shiver all over again. Anyway, mechanically it wasn't exactly flawless but all in all a pretty good DLC with a very respectable amount of content. Now I just have the Aveline DLC left and then I am done with this game and can move on to Rogue. I am looking forward to see Aveline again, this time in a "real" game (not some mobile port ). Glad you liked BF, its still my equal favourite with Odyssey. Sorry Edward didn't grow on you as much he did me and I only played Freedom Cry once, I liked the story and Adewale is great but the gameplay behind it like The Slave Ships and the Plantations stuff I just didn't enjoy at all. AnDromedary did you find the Jack Daws anchor? I hope you enjoy Liberation, I liked the idea but not the game and as a console port I found some of the controls on PC difficult.

AnDromedary did you find the Jack Daws anchor? I hope you enjoy Liberation, I liked the idea but not the game and as a console port I found some of the controls on PC difficult. Agreed on Freedom Cry's gameplay. That's what I meant when I wrote that in terms of it's mechanics it's not entirely thought through. A lot of this stuff is more there for the sake of it being there than really having a purpose. But still, nice DLC.
Oh I already played Liberation (the remaster that came with AC3). Wrote about it a page or so back. What I meant was that I still have to play the Aveline DLC that is included in Black Flag. I did so today. It's just about an hour long and the mission itself is nothing really special I'm afraid. Still, nice to see Aveline one more time in this form.
Now I started Rogue and I was seriously confused at first.
When you first sail out with the Morrigan after visiting Achilles and Adewale at the Davenport homestead, Liam and Shay have the following ambient conversation:
Liam: I cannot help if Achilles wants me to be familiar with our counterparts in Europe and elsewhere. Shay: Said like his favorite son. Liam: Connor is his favorite, and only son. Shay: Then Achilles' heir. Connor may inherit the house, but you'll be Mentor.
I was like "What? Connor wasn't even born then." It wasn't until I read the database and found out that Achilles had an actual son, named Connor who died in 1755 (and who was probably the reason for Achilles to give that name to Ratonhnhaké:ton, when they met some 20 years later). Also didn't know that Ah Tabai (the dude from Black Flag) was Achilles' teacher and mentor. Dam, this is all turning out more complicated than the Game of Thrones cast.

Yeah I was a bit the same when I played Rogue only last year, I really wish I'd played it straight after Black Flag. Are you playing Unity after Rogue, Rogue transitions in really nice with the start of Unity. Sorry my mistake re the Aveline DLC and Liberation. I did think you'd already played it. Yea, I had played all of the "America" games before (AC3, Black Flag and Rogue) but it was always at least a year (often more) in between. Only now that I play them one after another, I realize how closely they are all linked.
And yes, I do plan on playing Unity after. As I said, I did play Rogue before, so I know the ending. I also started Unity once but never got very far, so i do plan to finish it now. Unity and Syndicate are the only two AC games that I never finished. Let's see see if I'll get through them before I get sick of AC for a while.

Thanks to a bug in the "Odyssey into the Past" quest, I now have some bum of a fisherman permanently squatting on my beautiful ship, and no old savegame to redo the quest. Bleh.

THIS MONTH IN ASSASSIN’S CREED – JUNE 2019 UPDATEassassinscreed.ubisoft.com/game/en-us/news-updates/351494/this-month-in-assassins-creed-june-2019-updateYou're in for a treat this month! Let's discuss Story Creator mode, Discovery Tour, and more! ASSASSIN'S CREED ODYSSEY: STORY CREATOR MODE In case you missed it, we recently released an all-new feature, Assassin's Creed® Odyssey Story Creator Mode! With this new feature, we are taking our philosophy of empowering players with choice a step further by allowing you to write your own stories and accompany them with gameplay and handwritten dialogue. The world of Assassin's Creed Odyssey is your canvas, let your creativity run free! Story Creator mode is currently available for free to all Assassin's Creed Odyssey owners. Be sure to check out our announcement article for more details. DISCOVERY TOUR: ANCIENT GREECE Since its release, Discovery Tour: Ancient Egypt has quickly become a fan favorite, and during our E3 we provide a very first look at our Discovery Tour: Ancient Greece! With the Discovery Tour: Ancient Greece, history is your playground! Choose from 8 avatars and enjoy loads of great features: • Discovery Tour: Ancient Greece features 5 Tour Guides: Aspasia, Barnabas, Markos, Herodotos, and Leonidas. • Interact with more than 300 World stations and 30 Tours scattered across 26 regions. • Tours are divided into 26 regions to discover over 300 stations, with tours covering 5 different themes (philosophy, architecture, daily life, war, and myths). Test your knowledge with a quiz after the completion of each guided tour and unlock additional avatars. • Explore with 35 unique avatars and 15 mounts, accessible by progressing through Discovery Tour objectives. • Put your knowledge to the ultimate test with interactive quizzes. • This is your chance to embark on a journey through Ancient Greece without the usual combat or gameplay constraints when the Discovery Tour: Ancient Greece releases early fall 2019! THE FATE OF ATLANTIS EPISODE 2 – TORMENT OF HADES Torment of Hades sends players straight to the Underworld, a vast and eerie place home to wandering dead, ruled by Hades. As the story unfolds, players will come face-to-face with ghosts of their past and continue their journey in mastering the Staff of Hermes. Players will help the dead find their peace, settle a debt that Hades demands, and try to escape the afterlife. Below you'll find a few quick tips if you're just about to get started with the DLC. The Underworld is riddled with the most challenging enemy types to date. If you're feeling stuck, we highly recommend attaining the Fallen set, as it is essential to progress in Hades' kingdom – it allows you to go through Veils and makes you less vulnerable in the Rifts. Be sure to get these new ability enhancements as soon as you can! Search for Steles across the map, as they'll unlock the three new enhancements. If you're looking for ability points, keep your eyes peeled for Rifts, as each sealed Rift contains an ability point reward. Here's a quick look at the abilities: • Kronos Time Shift: This ability enhancement is a good way for Hunter players to have additional time to use their Abilities when surrounded. • Ares' Last Breath: This ability enhancement is perfect for Warrior players since they can regen their Health while inflicting damage. • Artemis' Trickery: This ability enhancement allows Stealth players to prepare deadly traps to kill their enemies. • The second Episode of The Fate of Atlantis, Torment of Hades, was released on June 4. THE LOST TALES OF GREECE June will see the release of an all-new Lost Tale of Greece: Every Story Has an Ending. EVERY STORY HAS AN ENDING Learn more about Herodotos' past and uncover a conspiracy theory as you journey alongside him to his home island of Samos. ubistatic19-a.akamaihd.net/marketingresource/en-us/assassins-creed/assassins-creed-odyssey/news/images/everystoryhasanending_351397.jpgTo access all the Lost Tales of Greece, you will need to reach Chapter 5 in the main game of Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Still playing Rogue and switched to the Templars now. The whole thing isn't quite believable to me, to be honest. Yes, what happens in Lisbon was a huge tragedy but why is Shay so determined to believe that Achilles did this kinda on purpose? I mean, he even fricking tells you before you go to be careful because first civ artifacts are dangerous. Then, the assassins suddenly change from the good guys, we have come to know them for the last 6 games to gang thugs that beat protection money out of elderly people? WTF? I mean, maybe this is all biased because we see it through how Shay remembers it but for now, it's seriously weird. Also, something that's been bothering me from the start, Shay really doesn't quite fit into the assassins from the start at all. They seemed to be very picky about their recruits and only sully introduce super committed people into their order. Once in, people get extensive training and (let's face it) very thorough indoctrination into assassin ideology. Shay on the other hand seems to be very superficially familiar with assassin philosophy at best and yet, he is put in charge of pretty important missions. I know that Liam kinda got him a bit of a ehad start but that doesn't really explain hope Achilles messed up on him like that. It seems to me that Rogue - while not exactly retconning things - repainted a lot of aspects about the assassins and templar to make the story feel better for the player and it doesn't quite fit in some places. Also, been doing all the computer hacks in the present and it actually is quite shocking, how many assassins switched sides and became templars instead. Do we know it this also worked in reverse? From the top of my head, I can't really think of any templars that defected to the assassins instead.
... but those antlers are going to clip through every low branch in the game. Fixed that for you.

... but those antlers are going to clip through every low branch in the game. Fixed that for you. Yeah there are few "jarring" things in Rogue. The Lisbon thing I think (not positive) had happened before and so Achilles did know what would happen and his warning was just a general one in terms of hey this missions going to be dangerous (end of the world dangerous) so be careful. I am having trouble remembering but weren't the assassins doing the beatings etc. out of control and wasn't that part of the reason Achilles was not considered a good mentor? In a kinda sorta way Edward Kenway is a templar (as in he's Haytham's kid) that gets recruited as an Assassin, or is that drawing too long a bow?

Yeah there are few "jarring" things in Rogue. The Lisbon thing I think (not positive) had happened before and so Achilles did know what would happen and his warning was just a general one in terms of hey this missions going to be dangerous (end of the world dangerous) so be careful. Yea, Achilles has a conversation with Adewale, where they discuss that something similar happened in the West Indies but I got the impression that they didn't quite know what was going on. Sure, just going for something that risky in a densely populated city like Lisbon was negligence to the extreme but still, Shay's claim that basically Achilles had him destroy the city on purpose was a bit much. Besides, Shay himself overheard the conversation between Achilles and Adewale as well and still, he just waltzes in there and takes the artifact. A more self-reflective man (such as assassins used to be so far) would blame himself as much as the others. Hmmm, haven't heard that yet but maybe I this will be taken up later and I am not far enough along yet. Certainly seems that way. Those street gangs I am taking out don't seem like your regular assassins for sure. You mean Connor Kennway (aka Ratonhnhaké:ton), right? Edward is Haytham's father (and was sorta kinda an assassin at the end of Black Flag), so Haytham is yet another example of an assassin switching to the templar side. As for Connor, technically, being the kid of a templar, he switched but I don't count it because he never knew his father or got exposed to templar doctrine before meeting Achilles. So he really had nothing to do with the templars before his induction into the assassins began.

Yeah my bad, got it round the wrong way with Edward and Haytham, my excuse is it was early in the morning and I hadn't had a coffee yet.

Started playing Syndicate recently.
Positives: love London so far and using the rope launcher to get around from rooftop to rooftop like some kind of steampunk Spider-Man. Hats.
Negatives: the start of the game was incredibly abrupt with how you're introduced to the main characters. They're just assassins because reasons and then we're off to London because Templars.

Was just about to post that article!!!!! It's a bit of a nothing article, the dev's have it right I think but I kept waiting for the journalist to ask some more inciteful questions. I was surprised by the 2 to 1 ratio of Alexios v Kassandra players. People don't know what they are missing out on!!!!!

Yeah, I was a bit surprised as well... especially given that Kass/Melissanthi gets about 98.7% of all the good press!

Exactly, I am guessing we can't doubt the numbers as I assume they are pulling them from the actual game itself not based on a poll or anything either. It's also kind of weird because from all of those on the boards I can think of most have played both. I wonder if it includes duplicate PT's where people played the game twice but only as Alexios or if it excludes NG+ PT's where the 2nd PT was as Kassandra?

I was surprised by the 2 to 1 ratio of Alexios v Kassandra players. People don't know what they are missing out on!!!!! Similar to m!Shep vs f!Shep. Does the character selector default to male in Odyssey, I don't remember? It was one of the reasons given for Mass Effect as the most played character was the default Shepard with 0 customization (not even class) as if people didn't realize they could customize the character. They changed it in MEA to make it random, but BioWare never shared stats for it. Saying that, it's an encouraging value for Ubisoft, as BioWare has a female fanbase larger than most gaming companies do and I doubt they were interested in Assassin's Creed that much before Odyssey.
