Babar Guy : Yea, I had the exact same reaction when I played CotP. The DLC is really nice IMO and the Duat location look super cool IMO but yes, I also thought it was way too much fantasy and didn't really fit all that well into the AC setting.
dazk : Well, you seem to spend a lot of time with Odyssey, so I'd say for you it's worth it to spend a little extra money on in-game stuff if you like it. IMO, that's where Microtransaction are ok, it's geared towards the longer term players and you know what you are getting for your money. I really like the look of the Helios armors as well. Not enough to buy it with real money but I'll keep an eye out for them at the store when I go back for the DLCs (I think I have some orichalcum saved up). Gotta go through Unity and Syndicate first though.
BTW, nice new avatar. One of my favorite scenes from Andromeda, visually. Thanks that makes me feel better about the purchase!!! I try not to get lured into microtransactions but I really do not begrudge Ubi the money as the game in only two PT's has given me over 450hrs of play time and I haven't even played the Atlantis DLC yet. In comparison I spent 1259hrs playing MEA and that was with 15 PT's, yeah I may have enjoyed the game . Thanks re the avatar, I really enjoyed all those SAM interaction animations including the music and sound effects) and what was great was after playing several times I got a new and much better GPU and it made those scenes and others even more detailed. I think the whole start of MEA is the best start to an ME game of all of them right up till you get to The Nexus.

Out of curiosity and I have no idea if the question has come up before but with the rpg elements introduced in ACOD, does anyone think that the original purpose of the animus has been broken?
The function of the Animus is; experiencing the genetic memory of a person through their DNA sample / double helix.

But it basically boils down to "Isu artifacts do some weird shit". I found it lacking.

You joke, but playing through Origins has legitimately given me a desire to play some Rome 2 again. Probably as the Ptolemies, another successor kingdom or one of the Greek city states. Then domine, march! To Rome! The Rome 1 music mod is a must for me when playing Rome 2. The default soundtrack isn't bad, but it doesn't give me the same nostalgia boner. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Aaaand I'm now officially done with AC Origins, including the DLC. The Discovery Tour mode is neat, but not neat enough for me to justify still keeping those precious gigs occupied by having the game installed. I'm going to say that up until now, this is my favorite AC game but it's not without flaws. They're not very good at endings. I was waiting for some big culmination in Curse of the Pharaohs, but it just kinda...ended. Not even a little cutscene with the title card showing up to signify that it's over. Part of me wants to continue straight into Odyssey, but I'm worried that I'll get tired of it after having spent a good 77 hours over the last week or so playing this every day (I'm on holiday, so I have plenty of time for once). Maybe I should take a break and play something else for a while before going back to AC. Bye Bayek, you were da real MVP. Senu is a good girl and deserves a lot of scritches.

I'm actually surprised they released it with the possibility to do it. Every versions of "story creator" have lead to people making farming missions out of it or add "god items" to give themselves avantages.

I think I mostly caught up. I'm hoping I get to play this soon, been so busy these days I don't know what I'm doing half the time Babar Guy glad you liked Origins. Though I prefer the combat in Odyssey and absolutely adore Alexios, I miss Bayek. He was a great character Also, I originally thought Arno was the most boring of the Assassin's but after I played it a second time, I ended up quite liking him

I only yesterday decided to dismantle my "EPIC" gear set that I collected that was far more balanced than the CRIT pirate stuff I am using now. You'll get to play it before me, I am going to wait till you can give me feedback on what gear to wear but my first thoughts were maybe running a Warrior based set-up but with a lot of assassin buffs to make Heroic Strike still as god like as it is now. RA is my major strength but it seems the game for any tougher battles never lets you be able to use it!!!!! Did you use your CRIT build for the first two instalments? How did it go and what abilities do you recommend?

Uh...so now I'm passing through portals to the afterlife where I emerge into some sort of pocket dimension filled with scorpions that are larger than cows, triremes effortlessly gliding across open fields, birds with unsettling human faces and dog warriors who have black & gold skin. And not for one second does Bayek go "WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?", but rather just "Oh, I'm here." Is this ever explained? Did the Animus fry Layla's brain resulting in these kinds of "memories"? Is it just something that's in the AC setting now? A literal afterlife (with side quests from the dead people there!)? In terms of fantastical/sci-fi elements, this is waaaaay beyond what the games have had thus far (i.e. precursor race was insanely advanced before dying off a gazillion years prior, left behind pieces of technology that have incredible power that a lot of people would perceive as something godlike) Playing Curse of the Pharaohs now, if it wasn't obvious. The Hidden Ones was nice enough, super short though. (Aya ) Yes, it is explained later. It seems like a great many players missed this point, but none of it is real in the sense that you're not actually visiting those imaginary places. Bayek recognizes as much at the end of his journey. That dialogue happens with a minor quest-giver. I'm guessing that's why so many missed it. Even if Aaru, the Duat, Elysium and Hades aren't real places, the simulations still have importance and power. I expected it to be annoyingky far out into left field, but CotP actually fit the AC story really well. On top of that, it was a good story with stunning locations. I really enjoyed it. I loved the way the reign of Akhnaten was so thoroughly woven into the entire plot. It was some of the series' best writing. Honestly, I think Odyssey introduces way more head-scratching BS than even Origins' most fantastical moments. I miss the days of Assassins vs Templars. I hope that's more what we get from next year's game, even if the Order aren't yet calling themselves Templars.

I only yesterday decided to dismantle my "EPIC" gear set that I collected that was far more balanced than the CRIT pirate stuff I am using now. Whoops... For the 1st DLC, I swapped between my Assassin & Hunter sets - both Crit Based (but no Health-nerfing boosts). The bulk of that DLC I spent knocking enemies out, and breaking their mind control. Which meant - no RAs, but mostly individual knockouts (which don't wake the Colossi), and taking down groups with multi-shot + paralyzing arrows. Battlecry of Ares is great if you get into trouble. So, slower than RA-ing everything, but story-wise (saving the mind-controlled humans) this worked pretty well for me. In the 2nd DLC, we're not having to worry about having to save people, so that opens things up. Still largely running the Assassin Crit-based gear, as there are areas where stealth is important (rifts), but now RA becomes a good option again where you're not going to wake colossi. The Ares Madness upgrade is an awesome ability when get into melee. And since it's based on your Assassin Damage, enemies melt like butter before you. With my gear, if I activate it right next to an opponent(s), the initial burst damage kills them right there unless they're a boss. Then you still have 10 sec. to dole out obscene damage. The Kronos Time Shift upgrade is another good one in a pinch when fighting groups. When in the air and time slows down, it's a great vantage point for multi-shot attacks. This is also good when civilians are around as multi-shot doesn't target them. Then it's just a matter of deciding which of your other usual standbys to load up with - Hero Strike, Fury of the Bloodline, Slow Time, Ghost Arrows, Healing.

RA is my major strength but it seems the game for any tougher battles never lets you be able to use it!!!!! Did you use your CRIT build for the first two instalments? How did it go and what abilities do you recommend? Thanks for the tips especially re knocking people out, I probably would have slaughtered them all. I'll stick with my CRIT build and see how I go, I have Battle cry of Ares equipped already and Multi -Shot and Ghost Arrows, need to check re paralysing arrows though, pretty sure I have them but haven't used them since my first PT. Also have Heroic Strike and FoTB equipped and Ring of Chaos + Health. Last check I think my Assassin Damage is around 440K.
