THIS MONTH IN ASSASSIN’S CREED® ODYSSEY – JULY 2019 UPDATEassassinscreed.ubisoft.com/game/en-us/news-updates/352745/this-month-in-assassins-creed-odyssey-july-2019-updateThis month we'll discuss The Fate of Atlantis – Episode 3, a new Lost Tale of Greece, and two item packs! Without further ado, let's jump right in. THE FATE OF ATLANTISEPISODE 3 – JUDGMENT OF ATLANTIS The final episode of The Fate of Atlantis DLC sends players to Poseidon's domain, the legendary lost world, a complete mystery to every culture. We discover that it is a mythical world where Isu and humans live and work together in the utopia created by The Ones Who Came Before. A gorgeous landscape of architectural progress and clear water, Atlantis is a playground for Isu knowledge and power. The Fate of Atlantis: Judgment of Atlantis releases on July 16. Below you'll find some tips from the developers that will help you get started. 1. If you're looking for Ability Points to try a new enhancement, scanning Isu Caches rewards an Ability point 2. Collect all Steles to unlock the three new Ability Enhancements early. You have a new tool to learn and use against enemies • Wrath of Ares can be used to deal with multiple enemies at the same time by creating an anomaly zone that will slow them down and explode after a few seconds • Blessing of Kronos is perfect to gain Adrenalin quickly and avoid being stopped by Isu Powers • Kronos's Punishment allows you to assassinate enemies close by without exposing yourself 3. A new type of Kolossus armed with two swords can be activated when you've been detected. Be careful to avoid conflict around them 4. When you're attacking forts, try to take down the Isu Commander first – he's quite a challenge and can be damaging even at range 5. Hunt the five Atlantean Polemarchs to acquire all the pieces of the Legendary Dikastes armor TITLE UPDATE 1.4.0Title Update 1.4.0 was deployed on July 9 and, along with addressing some in-game obstacles, the patch prepared the game for the release of the latest DLC episode: Judgment of Atlantis, and added some improvements to our Story Creator mode. You guys know that you can Rush Assassinate colossi, right? I usually backstab one upon entering an area and line up my angles for a 5-target RA assault. That clears those small locations in seconds.

I actually made time to sit down and play yesterday. And I played almost all day for this DLC. All I can say is wow. It's very pretty and I hope you're all enjoying it too. One pic, don't peek if you don't wanna see what it looks like there I won't say more until everyone has a chance to play it.

Yup. Though in the 1st DLC, I'd knock out the mind-controlled guards and free them, then just regular assassinate the statue Kolossi to build adrenaline.

I started Odyssey recently. Like any mature adult, one of the first things I did was to climb on the Zeus statue's dick. Fun so far, although the story hasn't yet gotten me as invested as in Origins. The "romances" are kinda... bad. At least the ones I've come across. Even as intended flings they feel very meh. Posting here because I don't dare check the other thread due to probably being spoiled like crazy. Though I did get a hearty chuckle out of gathering antique viagra for the blacksmith so he could sleep with me (how could you need medical assistance with an absolute goddess and sexual supernova like Kassandra? 😍😍) only for it to be revealed that I not only fucked the quest giver's father, but also killed his mother.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I last wrote here. Part of the reason is that it's summer and I don't play much these days. Therefore, I am still at the beginning of Unity (sequence 3) and didn't progress much in the main story. But I did do a fair amount of side stuff already. THere is SO much of it! That's actually something that kinda annoys me as well. It looks like in Unity, they just dumped all the side stuff in. In previous games, often side quests like assassinations and such would only pop up as you progress in the story and as they'd make sense. For example in Rogue, there is one or two contracts that only are available late in the game because their background is about events that can only take place after the french and indian war is over. Here however, everything seems to be available right away, which is really weird because there are quests that don't fit in the time period that I am in right now. For example, it's still 1791 in this sequence, yet there are references in some side quests about the king having been executed, which didn't happen until 1793. Same goes for all those coop missions and stuff that are available when they really shouldn't be yet. Of course, one can easily explain this as quirks of Animus replay but it wasn't an issue in previous ACs and it for me it impacts immersion quite a bit. (And it's yet another reason why I kinda hate all the social and coop stuff they forced in there). Otherwise, it's very fun. I think I am finally getting the hang of the new controls and such. I also finally made the decision to upgrade my equipment. I saved up about 150.000 Francs, so I could buy an entire set of 5 star equipment in one go. That does make quite the difference, coming straight from just 1 star. Now it almost feels as easy as the old ACs did. Though I did mainly spec my new outfit for stealth. I like the new stealth mechanics, they seem to work pretty well. I just really have to get the upgrade point for double air assassination, that would have come in handy a couple of times already. Oh, and one thing I really miss from AC3/BF/Rogue is the ability to whistle in order to attract guards to my hiding spot. I mean, you can in principle still do it just by showing your self briefly but the whistling was may more convenient and frankly I don't quite understand why they took it out. What I really like is that even hte little side quests now have proper stories to them with voiced characters and everything. I particularly enjoy the murder mysteries. Nice touch, though they are a little bit formulaic. At least those I've done so far - while providing rather interesting puzzles in their stories - did not come with any surprises (like someone actually trying to hinder my investigation by sending some thugs after me or something). It's just "collect clues, read/listen to everything and figure out the culprit". But still, it's nice because of the sometimes rather complicated plots (like the Hot Chocolate to Die For or the Murdered by Science one). Anyway, I think I might actually get back to the main story for a bit and continue, just to get more upgrade points and get more abilities before doing more side stuff. It sucks not to have certain abilities and of course not to be able open most of the locked chests yet. Anyway, will keep going, though my pace is probably gonna remain slow for a while.

That Blacksmith quest is pretty funny at the end!!!! Did you also help the old lady out at the temple of Delphi in "Age is Just a Number"? That's also a bit of a laugh!!!! Alkibiades gets all the best romance scenes though, don't you think "Little Goat"?

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is far from death, Ubisoft says that there are still 'some surprises left' in the coming months. Everything I learned about the future from my interview with the post launch content director here.

In Odyssey, are you supposed to do the Lost Tales quests whenever, or only after finishing the main story? I'm mainly wondering if there will be spoilers about stuff that has yet to happen if I do them now that they became available (and are almost all a few levels below my current level), since they were added post-release?
I also stumbled across a huge spoiler because I was stupid and Googled Aspisia after she was kinda presented like Kassandra had already met her or at least knew who she was when she strolled into Perikles' party. I had no idea who she was or what I did in Megaris that was apparently related to her 🙄. Sigh.

I can't think of any spoilers in the Lost Tales of Greece, nothing major anyway that springs to mind and so yeah you can do them anytime you want. They are also a good source of XP and loot IIRC. Ouch re the Aspasia spoiler!!!

I honestly haven't been able to get into Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I mean, okay, it's not that it's a bad game, it's just that I personally can't get engaged with the game like I could with Assassin's Creed Origins.
I think part of it is due to how long and relatively slow the intro to the game is. Plus, at least from what I got, there isn't really a strong personal goal or desire for the main character to go on this journey. At least with Origins, we have a relatable and understandable goal of vengeance/good for all of Egypt. I didn't get that sense in Odyssey. If anything, the character didn't want anything to do with this adventure.
That's just my personal opinion though. I'm wondering if anybody has given people advice on how to approach the game and get into it better?

It definitely has some ups and downs and you can get bogged down around L10 to L20 and lose focus in regards to the main quest lines but I found Kassandra's quest to re-unite her family and destroy the cult equally as engaging as Bayek and Aya's quest for vengeance. I agree the over-arching Sparta/Athens thing isn't as enthralling as the save Egypt story but I enjoyed the whole fighting to shape the outcome of democracy v dictatorship in regards to the cultists story engaging enough. Are you playing as Kassandra or Alexios, for me that made a big difference as I found Kassandra far more engaging in terms of the family reuniting questline.

I play as Kassandra, and frankly I think I figured out the issue. My approach to playing has been try to do everything in an area before continuing the story, which frankly is bogging me down too much and making me feel like I’m not making any progress. So I’m probably going to replay with more of a focus on being straightforward and considering which errand would Kassandra consider urgent.

If anything, the character didn't want anything to do with this adventure. That's just my personal opinion though. I'm wondering if anybody has given people advice on how to approach the game and get into it better? I think it depends on individual play style, goals and how the game is built. For some, getting into the main story once they identified / gauged what the plot is (if it's immediately obvious from the get go), is their sandwich so they would bypass / pick up SQ they would not do along the way to the main objective quickly. How they take to the protag in the intro is another factor. For some, getting into the main story is their secondary dish if they're intrigued by a game world that allows exploration. So they would take their time, travel around and generally leave the main story last in the chomping list. Sort of like leaving the favourite food to be eaten last. ACOD is clearly built on the travel / exploration rail so main story progression would be slow for those who want to ID the purpose of the protag / story and get on with it. This may generate boredom; why am I doing this irrelevant quest, I want to get on with the main dish or I can't get on with main dish because the protag doesn't have the skills. Or frustration; gold is hard to come by, combat is a wuss. I trend towards the second category so ACOD is my sandwich. Protag, combat, economy and game world posed no problems. I can name one other game in which I spent a few years trying to get into. Witcher 3. I tried playing it for a few times, never progressing very far. At most, an hour for the best attempt. What was the problem? I didn't think much of Geralt, I didn't like the combat and the economy is stupid. I finally played the game to the end by using the god and money cheat mode this year.

My first PT that happened to me as well until I figured out that you really only need to do the quest markers that are Black and Gold exclamation marks as they drive the main story content or are relevant to finding cultists, Merc's and other story relevant plot points. Also the quest markers with the double headed arrow are minor story relevant but everything else is just there to earn money and XP more quickly. So I let the story quests take me to an area then I clear that and sometimes nearby areas of the B&G exclamation quests and only do the other stuff if I feel like it. No need to restart unless you want to just prioritise the B&G quest markers, hope that helps.

I think Origins is a much better game in most ways. I like Odyssey, especially with Alexios. Bayek and his quest, though, were more focused and moving for me. Odyssey just goes too far off the deep end with the super hero stuff. Give me the hero vs tyrannical conspiracy game 10 out of 10 times. I really hope that future games go back to the Brotherhood vs the Order stories. Odyssey is also too damn long. I wasn't sure I'd ever feel that way about a game, but this game really is too long. Similar to DAI, I get fatigued with the story and characters (particularly Kassandra) over the course of 100+ hours. Odyssey is a better game than DAI, but the fatigue is still real.

Especially in one playthrough. And never force yourself into doing something you don't want to do. If you don't like something then don't do it...at least at first, especially if you do actually like the game. That's how a game starts to get long and the tooth and makes one want to stop playing it.

However once I figured out the quest markers differences in ACOD I stopped doing all the ones irrelevant to the story. The problem with TW3 for me was that all the question marks were the same, I eventually just gave up on the sea ones but all others still had to be completed even on the 2nd PT!!!!!

I tend to do more on a second PT then a first usually. Odyssey was a bit of an exception but I like to kind of 'rush' my First PT more because I believe...especially for an RPG...that every RPG is different (even games in the same series) so a first PT would be used to get used to the game, its systems, its RP and then the second PT is more used so I can enjoy the story more. Probably why the characters in my second PT end up being my canon...for other various reasons.

In Odyssey, are you supposed to do the Lost Tales quests whenever, or only after finishing the main story? I'm mainly wondering if there will be spoilers about stuff that has yet to happen if I do them now that they became available (and are almost all a few levels below my current level), since they were added post-release? I haven't done all LToG quests yet, because I wanted to binge the majority at once, probably this weekend. But of those 2-3 that I did - one quest (involving theater) was assuming you played the main story up to a certain point. I didn't reach that main story point when starting the LToG quest, but it was on my second PT, so I knew the NPC and what he was talking about. Bit of an oversight on Ubisoft's part I guess.
Another LToG quest is affected somewhat by your relationship with one of the factions in the game. It's not connected to the main story and it's mostly cosmetic, but it's nice that the quest can recognize if you finished certain side quests and gained a certain rank. I think most of the LToG quests are meant to be played after the main story as they assume the Eagle bearer has a reputation across the entire Greece.
