Testikles... (*snicker*) I could kiss you!No. No, you couldn't. Still enjoying Odyssey (man is it ever long, though) but I am INCREDIBLY frustrated with how Kassandra NEVER gets the option to ask anyone about her goddamn bloodline and family. I mean, I can fill in the blanks to what I assume is the case, but the fact that Kassandra the character never sits her mother or her biological father down and goes "stop being so vague and tell me in detail what makes me so special and powerful" is ridiculous. I don't even necessarily want them to answer, they could handwave some excuse to where they constantly get their conversations interrupted before they can elaborate, but just the fact that Kassandra doesn't even seem to be curious about it is driving me mad.

Doesn't Myrinne in the flashback where she gives Kassandra the spear go into some detail about their heritage? Other than that I am not sure other than the biological dad that anyone else fully understands it and when you meet him and do the missions and take control of the artefact it is pretty self-evident isn't it about Kass's bloodlines heritage?

Played "The Infernal Machine" yesterday in AC: Unity, solo. Puh, that took me a while. First I didn't manage to kill all those snipers in time without getting killed myself. After a few tries, I had my route down to the millisecond but as soon as I killed the last one I died for no apparent reason. Had to look up on the internet that, if you do this too fast, you just die, so I waited with the last one and that actually worked. What kind of BS was that? At least while on the internet, I also looked up where all the collectible sync points are in this mission, so I could get those (which is good because I don't want to replay those coop missions, really, I don't need all those armor pieces, I got better ones by now anyway).
In any case, the second part in the house was kinda cool. Finally I could go all stealth again, which was fun.
The last part where I need to kill the bad guy was super frustrating because you kinda need to circle that housing block 10 times in order to take out all those snipers on the rooftops. I ended up dying for stupid reasons 3 times or so, each time after doing all that, so it was super frustrating.
So happy I'm done with this stupid mission.
Also, I have to say it again, I don't like how this game is structured at all. I mean, this mission for example takes place in 1801, yet, in the SP campaign, I am still in 1792 (and haven't even met Napoleon yet, whom I am protecting in the mission). But since it's one of the 3 star coop missions, it's implied I should do it round about now. That whole setup with those individual missions makes the game super disjointed. I have to say, despite the fact that the core gameplay is actually very good, the graphics are great and even most characters are decent and the quests have much better story fluff to them than I am used to in an AC game, just the fact that it all just seems like a fairly random collection of missions, rather than a real coherent story makes this my least favorite AC game yet.
You know, the Ezio trilogy was brilliant in showing me the passage of time, both for the protagonist and during the time of the Renaissance in general. The America trilogy, AC3/Black Flag/Rogue (+Liberation) may not have been in order but the individual games did a great job of showing the connections between the storylines in the end, you got a great sense of how all the characters in it fit together and formed one whole picture of the time between 1715 and 1780-ish). Now, in Unity, I get no sense that I am actually living through a coherent era with Arno because the game makes me jump from one event and one timeframe to the other all the time. It's not great. I still blame the forced-in coop- and MP-focus for all this. I hope Syndicate will get back to a more "linear" approach in telling it's narrative.

I had that same problem with that Co-Op mission, I can only presume it wasn't intentional but just a coding error. It may have just been me but Unity for me was really F#cked for Stealth in some missions and I eventually gave up on some of optional objectives that required stealth because you'd break stealth because some guard in another building that couldn't possibly see you did see you. Or it would just randomly break stealth for no reason all as no one was anywhere that they could have seen you. I only played it once for that reason it just frustrated me so much!!!

Or it would just randomly break stealth for no reason all as no one was anywhere that they could have seen you. I only played it once for that reason it just frustrated me so much!!! So far, the stealth itself is fine for me. Whenever I mess up (which is fairly easy to do), I kinda know what I did wrong. I played the two simpler heists yesterday, which was actually quite fun, to try and stay undetected. The second one though (catacomb raider) war pretty tough. There were A LOT of dudes in those catacombs.
The only thing I really miss is the whistling from the previous games to attract enemeis to my location. The stupid thing is, it's still fairly easy to attract enemies by showing yourself long enough to get them to come (especially useful for cover kills). But whistling would have just made things a little smoother and also it would have made hiding spots a little more useful. As it is, enemies barely ever get close to hiding spots by themselves and when you are spotted, Arno will not hide in those spots anymore, so you can't attract them like you can for the cover kills either, so yea, they are barely useful at all.
But anyway, in terms of gameplay, I actually think Unity is doing pretty well. It's just the structure of the game that really makes it seem just completely unimmersive.

Shouldn't that be either "Samothrakia" or "Samothrace"? I'm no expert, but that looks like someone thought simply replacing the "c" with a "k" would make it "more Greek". I logged in for the first time in a while to do the new LToG. It was pretty solid. I like these free quest lines. Cumulatively, I think they're better than the paid DLC in terms of adding logical, suitable content. That's just IMO, of course. I enjoyed the quests well enough, but still had no desire to continue FoA, so it was a quick session. I also killed the weekly merc and finally got that stupid hat! 😆 I've been feeling like I could replay Origins, soon. I like Origins better than Odyssey and kind of miss Bayek. I think it's still a bit too soon for AC, though. Whenever I decide to resume VGs, I think I'll play HZD again. What a great game that is. It never gets old or stale. I hope the Viking game drops before October 31, 2020. I have hundreds of Helix points expiring on that day. I'm used to being able to buy everything on offer on day one with my hoard of points. The addition of an expiration date sucks!

Sorry for back to back posts. I'm not sure if I shared that my sister recently visited Greece. She specifically stayed at a castle on a penunsula on the east coast of Lakonia. Sound familiar? It was instantly recognizable, just much, much bigger in real life. I also readily recognized locations outside of Athens and at Delphi. The AC teams really do an amazing job in recreating landmarks and approximating worlds.

"Samothrake" actually is another proper spelling for the island. www.ancient.eu/Samothrace/"Samothrace (Samothrake) is a Greek island in the northern Aegean which was prominent from the Classical period as a member of the Delian League."

Currently enjoying the Greek beaches between Thessaloniki and Kavala myself. AC Odyssey is not doing the beaches correctly 😁 They need much more yellow sand and less white. Also - no sharks... I brought my trident for nothing! Diving is fun, but I swear the fish is not as colorful as in Odyssey! But you do hear the odd "Malakes" in the background.

Still playing Unity. Made it through sequence 9 and unlocked the rest of the skill tree to get some cool stuff like the two last thick skin upgrades and the poison gas (though I actually never use it ). Why didn't anyone tell me that you should do the cafe theatre missions right away? I didn't realize my income would go up from 7.000 livre to over 40.000 per hour with the final two missions from madame whatsherface? Had I known that, I would have done those first and saved a lot of time grinding money. Anyway, I am now fully equipped with upgraded legendary gear, though I did focus on stealth, meaning I wear some weird combination of sans-culottes and phantom gear. Basically, with the striped pants and feathery hood (!!!) Arno quite literally looks like a clown now or rather like some sort of court jester. Thank god for the outfits. I really like some of the abandoned concepts that we can choose, like the McFarlane outfit or the Fearless outfit. At least they look half way serious and fitting. I also ran around in Ezio's outfit for a while, while collecting chests and stuff. Ah, that brought back memories. But unfortunately, the cloth simulation looks a bit odd on that one and also, it just does look a little out of date in the late 1700s setting. (Same goes for the Nostradamos outfit btw, which I just unlocked yesterday. Looks too medieval, which of course makes sense but still, it's weird to run around looking like a 13th century monk. ) Anyway, in terms of progress, I am getting closer towards the end now. Did most of the side missions (only 2 or 3 missing at this point, plus the few that are still locked). I also solo-ed most of the coop missions at this point. After reading up on the flag hunt online, I kinda dreaded starting the Tournament but it turned out perfectly fine. Sure, it takes a few tries to learn how the flags spawn but once you realize the order in which to get them it's actually really easy. I had to do it three times because my game crashed on me twice, later in the mission (which it normally never does, that was weird) but once I had figured it out, I always could do it in one go, so no problem there. I also did "Woman's March", which I read was difficult as well. I found that one super easy as well but I am not sure if I didn't exploit a bug or something. I went along the rooftops from the start and got quite a bit in front of Mericourt. I then dispatched the first group of Templars before she ever got there, so she never got into the fight. I then went ahead and killed the snipers and she just went by the second group of Templars on the ground without them attacking. Lucky me I guess. The rest of the mission was a breeze anyway. Now I am only missing "Moving Mirabeau" and "Jacobin Raid" but since chronologically, they seem to take place a little alter in time than I am in the main story at this point, I'll wait until I catch up, in order to give this game at least a semblance of coherence. Oh, also did all the murder mysteries. Those were a lot of fun. I am proud that I did not do one single false accusation at all. Yea! Also did all the available Rift missions, to get all the assassin Intel. I am not particularly thrilled by that though. The rifts are super easy and the intel is just database entries of fairly boring tidbits about LeMay. I never particularly liked her character, not was I that interested. Nothing really new on the current day story either. Ah well, at least it was fast to do.
As far as the main story goes, yea, I gotta admit, Arno didn't quite keep up his charming personality from the beginning of the game and did actually become a little bland. But I like Elise and I liked the last mission, where you have to chase her in the hot air balloon. That was fun. Still, I am missing the relevance of the main plot. It seems whatever Arno and Elise are doing, they are barely aware the whole revolution is even taking place around them. They are so preoccupied with finding the people who murdered Elise's father, which is understandable of course but it seems so tangential to the historical events going on. You know, Ezio used to work with the Medicis, against the Borgias and with da Vinci, Connor worked with Washington and Adams. Edward worked with all those infamous pirates and even Shay worked with Thomas Cook and the like. The only one Arno met so far is Mirabeau (and he was barely seen in context of the revolution at all) and young Napoleon before he actually became interesting. Why haven't I met Robespierre, Danton, Marat (who is now dead already), King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette yet in the context of the story (just on some random coop missions)? I mean, maybe it's still coming but I am in sequence 10 out of 12 already and it still all feels like a preamble. And people said AC3 took a long while to get going. Anyway, the game is lot's of fun in it's gameplay (really think they improved that a lot) and Paris is gorgeous but yea, it's still all a bit of a disappointment as to how they chose to (not) utilize one of their most interesting settings so far..

I loved the outfits (did I really just say that ) and weapons in Unity and the combat was heaps of fun. Re the Café missions sorry not sure if I ever finished those, been so long and I only played it once. Yeah the lack of interaction with major historical characters was a bit of a let down and the story in the whole game was I thought disappointing. Elise is great, would have preferred for her to carry the whole story myself. Outfits and weapons were cool Loved the balloon

dazk : Nice pics. Yea, I am really glad about the outfits as well. Otherwise, Arno would look like this at the moment (though I gotta admit, I did choose one of the more ridiculous color schemes to take the picture. )
