dazk : Nice pics. Yea, I am really glad about the outfits as well. Otherwise, Arno would look like this at the moment (though I gotta admit, I did choose one of the more ridiculous color schemes to take the picture. ) Thanks Wow that is an impressive amount of colour!!!!

Yay! I finally made it through Unity yesterday. Here is my conclusion: HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Story spoilers ahead: So let me get this straight: The original premise of Unity was that I, the player, got drafted by the initiates to go through Arno's memories in order to figure out where the sage that he came into contact with ended up buried, so that the assassins can get to the remains before the templars and prevent the latter from using the Sage's genetic material for project Phoenix. And in the end, it turns out, the bones of the sage in question were just dumped somewhere in the Paris catacombs and Bishop basically says it would be too much effort to look for them now and that everything is probably so degraded at this point that it's not usable anyway. So ... the entire game - dozens of hours of effort - is completely pointless, which brings be back to my original conclusion: AAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! This is the kind of thing that makes the Mass Effect 3 endings look good. Anyway, just like in ME, I guess it's the journey that counts, right? Well, despite all my bitching about AC:U's incoherent nature, it was fun though. And at least in the very end, we do get to have a little interaction with history, preventing Robespierre's escape attempt and Elise even gets to shoot him in the jaw. Nice, would have loved to see more stuff like this. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't have minded an AC:U2 (which wouldn't have had anything to do with the band ), where we follow Arno further through the Napoleonic wars in the next 2 decades. I cannot believe they didn't do this, given Ubisoft's tendency to do multiple games on the same idea with heavy asset reuse. AC:U definitely feels like the prologue to some bigger story in a way. At first I thought they might have changed plans after the game was rather badly received after it's initial very buggy release in 2014 but then I remembered that they were cycling AC teams and that they must have been working on Syndicate long before Unity ever came out, so it was apparently never planned. That puzzles me.
I would have made that a little different and more mission based AC game, with more different places to visit. But there was so much cool stuff happening in that era. They could have just reused Paris (which was laready built for Unity) but added excursions to Austerlitz, Trafalgar (jumping around ships and stuff), Vienna, the Prussian provinces all the way ti Russia. Even northern Africa was involved in those wars and the whole thing culminated in Waterloo. It doesn't get more historic than that. And you have all those fast shifting alliances, perfect for some templar conspiracy stuff. What a missed opportunity.
Anyway, I also played the Dead Kings DLC. I liked it, it had a decent amount of content and it was a nice little (but a bit pointless) side story, which is exactly what a DLC should be. If I have one complaint, than that it was a little too easy. The raiders, who are the main enemies here can't block your attacks, which means they can only threaten you in vast numbers but even then, al you need do is take out the leader and they scatter. There was simply no challenge there and once you get the Eagle of Sugar (and upgrade it for the higher frequency of the blinding effect), you have a massively overpowered weapon anyway. But whatever, once you are decked out in legendary gear, you are fairly OP as it is. I particularly like the two murder mysteries in the DLC because they finally allowed some unexpected things to happen during the investigations (like the accused attacking you or another murder happening during the investigation and such). This was something I was missing from the murders in the base game, which were a little static. Ok, in any case, Unity was fun enough but it is definitely not my favorite AC. It's too pointless and too arbitrary for that, though the gameplay and the visuals were very impressive. Now on to Syndicate. I did the prologue of that one last night as well and just arrived in London. So far, I kinda like Evie but Jacob seems like a total asshat (which seems intentional though). Curious how this will develop.

Some of the best in the series imo.

Also, the gadgets are fun and can really speed up your enemy encounters. I find combat the weak point of the game so anything to circumvent that helps.

Oh, by the way, almost forgot one more thing about Unity's story that I kinda found weird (beware spoilers for Unity and Rogue).
So I was absolutely sure that the murder of Arno's real father would become an issue. I mean, we know who killed him (having played Rogue and all) but I really thought this would be an issue later in the story. My guess was that Arno finds out that a Templar killed his father and maybe even that de la Serre knew about it (or even approved it). That would certainly have lead to an interesting conversation with Elise. Not a big deal but a bit of lost potential for drama there IMO.

...THAT'S the official ending point of the main story in Odyssey? Kinda...shit. I get that there's still stuff afterwards, since I haven't killed every single cultist, gotten the last artifact for SPOILERS or even started either DLC, but the game outright tells you that you've finished the main story, you unlock New Game+ and get a bunch of achievements. Baffling decision to have that as the ending.

I've pretty much given up on my Kassandra PT. I do get on Alexios once a week for the store and bounties. I might finish Kassandra at some point but I just don't care about her as much. I guess now it's the wait for the next AC game? Do you guys think we'll get one in 2020 and will it be the viking thing? WILL THEY GET RID OF LAYLA? I may go back and finish my NG+ Bayek. As much as I love Alexios and prefer Odyssey combat, I miss Bayek and Egypt.

Can someone tell what live services Odyssey has? If I understand correctly what "Live Service" is there are basically a lot of short quests based on historical stories (The Lost Tales of Greece) that you can play and that were released ove the life of the game so far, there are 11 so far and one more to come I believe. They also introduced a couple of kill the Cyclops quests and they do weekly hunt a mercenary quests as well as a weekly ship hunt but I think they may have started to repeat themselves. The Lost Tales don't appear in your journal they are bright light blue icons on your map. On top of that there is DLC Legacy of The First Blade and Fate of Atlantis.

Some content was added as an update when starting up the game that the player can play throughout their playthrough while a few dlc's that were released for purchase? If what I posted is correct, I don't have a problem with that. I haven't played the game since November. Maybe I might with the added stuff you mentioned.

If what I posted is correct, I don't have a problem with that. I haven't played the game since November. Maybe I might with the added stuff you mentioned. If you haven't done the cyclops quests and the Lost Tales of Greece (LToG) at all yet, it'll be a worthwhile amount of content to play as a whole but most of the LToG are all pretty short. Some are fun, some are a bit ordinary in my opinion. The Cyclops ones are good for loot depending on weapons you use IIRC. Did you get the DLC as part of your purchase? I'd recommend having a read through the AC Odyssey spoilers thread first before buying it, there is some divided opinion regarding it and you may not want to purchase it. Me personally I liked most of it but that's a lot because it had relevance to the over-arching First Civilisation story and the Assassins history having played all the other games.

I'm not sure if I want to do the two DLC's after finishing the main game in Odyssey outside of some side stuff and the Lost Tales of Greece quests. My opinion of the game has pretty steadily dropped the farther I got. Too long, disjointed, badly written, anticlimactic.
I'm 106 hours deep, and it has felt like a chore for some time now to keep going. And that was before I experienced the ending(s) that this was all supposedly building towards, which have turned my opinion to decidedly lean more on the negative side. On one hand, I've already spent my money on the DLC's (which I regret) and after 106 hours I might as well see it through to the end. But on the other hand, I don't feel like spending even MORE time on something I'm enjoying less and less.

Still playing Syndicate: I haven't gotten much further in the story, just got the grappling hook and then started exploring the city, freeing boroughs and doing side stuff. I read a while ago (I think it was here on the forums) a comment from someone who felt that the grappling hook feels a little like cheating. I agree. It's almost too fast to get up buildings. It also makes it incredibly easy to escape if you are being detected. Arno had real trouble escaping up to the rooftops because they'd shoot him back down before he could get half way up a building. Evie on the other hand just shoots herself up in no time and is gone. I will admit though, I do appreciate the convenience of getting around very fast with that thing. Also, I already like the progression system of Syndicate better than the one from Unity. In Unity, it was just about money. Once you could affort level 5 gear, there was no point in ever getting anything lower (and it was easy to get there). So I actually never had anything level 2,3 or 4 that I didn't happen to get for free early on. Here, it's not just money but also experience points (i.e. doing missions), crafting materials (i.e. exploration and looting chests and such) and a lot of story locked items, which in combination means your progression is a lot smoother and more distributed throughout the game. It feels better and less broken. I'm not a big fan of this combat system. It feels a little frantic with all the fast jabs and punches. My impression is that their main source of inspiration was Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movie from 2009. They fight like that, the music seems inspired by it as well and so do a lot of the costumes (though that may just be the time period). This is not a bad thing and of course, having brass knuckles and cane swords fits the scenario better than more traditional weapons but still, I don't really like the flow of it. No big deal though, I play mostly with Evie and avoid combat for the most part anyway. The stealth mechanics work pretty well. Well, that's all I can say for now. Will be back when I'm through the story, though that may be a while, Ididn't really get more than 5 hours a game time in in the last 2 weeks and I don't expect that to change soon. Cheerio fellas!
EDIT: Oh, almost forgot, love Shaun's beer tasting notes in the database. So far, he seems to hate every single one of them for different reasons. It's hilarious.

Yeah I agree totally re the grappling hook and I think it was Element Zero who mentioned it felt like cheating. When I started the game I hated the combat but by the end when I had mastered it I didn't mind it so much but it did seem the complete antithesis of how an assassin would fight. Re the beer tasting notes, I did like the simple flavour of the games humour and yes the beer notes were very funny. Do you have the DLC for WW1, I really recommend it I really liked the atmosphere and the protagonist Lydia.

Assassin's Creed @assassinscreedGlide effortlessly between multiple foes, as an eagle would soar through the skies. The Ikaros pack is now available and contains a gear set, a mount, and a bow! #AssassinsCreedOdyssey Looks more like it should be the "Chikaros" gear set!!!!!!
