While I absolutely did love Origins and Odyssey (Origins more so) I'm gonna roll around in my *lover of classic AC* all I want I wanted to go see the symphony but, alas, it's not coming close enough for me to go gaze upon I finally tried a story mode quest the other day. It was okay, I spose. Nice addition for people who like to make some of their own stories in the game, but I probably won't play. Though the Brasidas lived ones are tempting!

It was okay, I spose. Nice addition for people who like to make some of their own stories in the game, but I probably won't play. Though the Brasidas lived ones are tempting! I tried a few advertised community creations, but (while I respect the effort) the lack of voice acting, writing that just doesn't fit with the regular theme of the game (I understand they try to shine with "edgy", "mature", "plot twist", but...), overall running from spot to spot for little to no reason and WHY IS HALF OF IT TAILING OR ESCORTING SOMEONE... well, I am not touching those anymore Escort quests just make my blood boil since like 1999 and I know I am not alone. And didn't we have enough of the tailing missions? Didn't every AC fan cry against those? Didn't we have enough when we tailed people with a bloody huge ass ship in Black Flag? Why are we creating these missions again?
Kudos to Ubi for giving us the Story tools, kudos to all people that create stuff with them, but I will skip all of it for now

140 million units for Odyssey? That's impressive. If they can hit another home run with the next AC title, that'll be even more impressive.

They wish 140 million units total for the entire franchise, 40 million of which are post 2016 (but include sales of all AC games, some of which were on sub $10 offerings). No doubt Odyssey is the MTX king, but as unit sales it probably didn't surpass AC2 or AC3.

That 40 million+ would be largely split between Origins & Odyssey, with some thousands in sales for the previous offerings. We know that Odyssey outsold Origins, so we're likely looking at someplace north of 20 million for Odyssey. I think AC 3 sold something like 12m for comparison.

I played Skyrim to death (1300hrs) but if they can replicate Odyssey or Origin in a Viking setting with even better story and relationships it will be an enormously superior game to Skyrim!!!!!

My issue with AC Odyssey now that I've played quite a lot of it and got a feeling for how the game's story, world, and gameplay functions, is how limited the actual "consequences" of the actions taken in the game. Specifically the Conquest Battles. This was actually something I was anticipating because pretty much everything in the game was telling me that the sides you choose in the conquest of Greece was going to be a huge part of your Odyssey. And surprisingly, the Conquest Battles don't do anything.
I mean, imagine if your successes and losses in conquest Battles had an affect on your story or game experience. Like, if you fought mostly with Athens, what if store-owners in Athens controlled regions gave you discounts, what if conversation options allowed you to use your standing as Athenian hero to sway a decision, what if Athenian soldiers turned a blind eye if you commit a crime? And if you fought mostly with Athens, how would that stand with the Spartans? Will they hunt you down? How would the side you choose affect your family and what they think of you?
There was some pretty great potential with the Peloponnesian War setting and having players fight for Athens or Sparta. And I'm shocked they missed a perfect opportunity.

It's something that I think most people picked up early on. The whole Athens v Sparta thing is just a background environment for the game and yeah the conquest battle are just a loot mechanic they seem to have thrown in for people that like that stuff. I am not a fan and only did them when I had to. It is another example of bloat in the game and whilst I loved roaming the open world and continuously getting distracted, sticking to the main quest lines and only doing the black and gold exclamation mark quests significantly condenses the game and keeps the story front and centre.

I like the story so far, but I doubt I'll be spending time looking for loot or participating in any side-activities until after the main story is completed. From I understanding, the two additional endings involving the Cult of Kosmos and Atlantis can be accomplished even after finishing the main quest-line.

I think Hrungr meant that in term of popularity. Although, I think AC is already more popular than TES so it's a weird take. These last couple of games have definitely pulled in some Bethesda-worthy numbers, though they've yet to reach Skyrim's lofty heights. It'll be interesting to see what they do with a vikings setting. Will they lean even more into mythology (monsters, weapons, realms, gods)? What will be the new gameplay hook(s)? Now, if the next AC were to offer proper mod support...

PCGamesN: The Assassin’s Creed Discovery Tour has had over 2.3 million playerswww.pcgamesn.com/assassins-creed-odyssey/discovery-tour-player-countThe Assassin’s Creed Discovery Tour has seen more than 2.3 million players free run, explore, and learn in the DLC for Ubisoft’s massively popular series. In a talk by Maxime Durand the Content Director and Historian on Assassin’s Creed and Discovery Tour, it was revealed that at one point the Discovery Tour’s player count exceeded any other Origins DLC stats.- Good to hear! Hopefully that means they'll continue to make them...

Sorry folks. After spending 25h in AC Odyssey, I can’t go on anymore. This game is SUPER long! I can handle probably 30h at most to complete a game’s story. Plus, my aforementioned disappointment and lack of consequences with the other side activities just isn’t encouraging me to do the side activities, and I feel like I’m forcing a rush.

It is a very long game but there are ways to shorten it, if you just stick to the main story quests and if you want to just do the black and gold exclamation mark quests it is much shorter. My last PT I did this and it was <70hrs I think. Pretty certain some people have done just the main story in <50hrs.

I wouldn't necessarily mind it except doing so means I'm just skimming over a lot of stuff and actively avoiding things. I prefer to play things more or less naturally, doing side-stuff as I come across them. I'm probably going to restart the game after a brief break, mainly because I want to improve the narrative decision making I have for Kassandra, and I feel this time I'll focus mainly on the story quests, skipping the cultist members unless they're in my way.

After finishing Greedfall last week, I am now back in London with Evie and Jacob. Just reached level 10 yesterday and I am only in memory sequence 4 of the main story. Mainly did side stuff and freed most of the boroughs so far (Only Westminster still has some Templar presence left. I had a complete flashback moment yesterday though. I was exploring around Buckingham Palace where a lot of brass bands are playing in the pavilions in James Park and Green Park. One of them played "Rule Brittania" and for a moment there, my mind completely morphed Evie into the Avatar form Ultima IX Ascension. Anyone played that game? Almost the exact same version of the song plays when you explore Lord British's castle. Since the two games are also both third person action adventure/RPGs, it fit perfectly (though Syndicate's graphics are "slightly" better ). Man, what a blast from the past.
