I am most impressed by the distance stats. I rarely used the horse but did make an effort to realistically use the Adrestia rather than FT but sometimes it was just necessary for expedience sake. I also used The felucca a lot and did a lot of swimming when the damn thing broke apart!!!!!!!

I am disgusted that I helped contribute to those numbers.

Those numbers are pretty insane. It shows that a lot people were playing this game, likely for a long time. I hope the next game is just as successful. Vikings are a popular cultural theme, at present. Assuming the rumors (and all signs) are true, I think the setting itself can only help the cause.

I am reading a Sci-Fi series by Michael Wallace ATM Called the Starship Blackbird series, it is post earth diaspora and lots of the new systems are populated on an ethnic basis and so of course there is a Viking/Norse system with fleets of ships called Wolf's that raid other ships by boarding them in Mech suits!!!! The all smell like Tobacco, Beer and Onions. EDIT: This was in the newspaper this morning!!!!

Hopefully they continue down the RPG route further, as well. It needs to actually start first. Eh, depends on the definition of RPG. If we're talking stat-based, skill-tree building, weapon and gear organizing to make yourself super powerful, I would say Assassin's Creed has reached that point.

While he could theoretically be working on anything, I expect he was hired to help AC better realize its new direction, among other things. It needs to actually start first. Eh, depends on the definition of RPG. If we're talking stat-based, skill-tree building, weapon and gear organizing to make yourself super powerful, I would say Assassin's Creed has reached that point. Definitely. This was a series with no roleplaying at all before Odyssey. They implemented a ton of things that were entirely new to the series, and did so admirably. They greatly exceeded my expectations. To be honest, the Odyssey team isn't even the good AC team. The A Team is working on the next game. I expect these games to get better each time, and particularly improve every other game, as new features join fully polished features.

My concern is less to do with the gameplay, mechanics and features getting better, but more like how are they going to do the narrative. I feel they missed a lot of opportunities with Odyssey's narrative and frankly I'm not finding a real drive continue with it because of how goddamn long it is. Origins frankly was the better narrative.

Origins frankly was the better narrative. You and I seem to be in the minority with that opinion. I feel that Origins was the more polished, better made game in most respects. From the protagonist to bringing the setting to life to the fine details (fire, water, smoke, etc...), Origins did pretty much everything better, in my opinion. Odyssey is a good game, but it lacks polish in some areas. Part of that might be the size of the game. Part of it might be that the "B team" made it. (They're a really good B Team, but they are definitely second tier when it comes to AC.) I do feel that Origins had some flaws. The intro was a convoluted mess. The narrative sort of lost its way from Pompey onward. Cleopatra, Cesar and the Roman threat were not very well developed. It felt like they were just dropped into the story fully made and unchanging. Kyrenaika was fine in terms of gameplay. From a story standpoint, it felt like things slowee to a wandering crawl, for a while. Pacing was very poor in the homestretch. I liked Odyssey's huge world. I didn't struggle for motivation, but I have in other similarly huge games. (DAI is a slog.) Honestly, I'd love to see another huge world if we are indeed getting vikings. Exploration and travel are a cool feature in these games, especially when given a ship. I would love to travel the seas and the tiniest rivers in my longship. I think the huge open world would fit vikings well. That said, a strong, focused narrative fits anything well, and is pretty much always good. I'm curious to see what the protagonist's motivations will be. "Raiding" doesn't work as a motivator when you're already swimming in loot.

"Raiding" doesn't work as a motivator when you're already swimming in loot. That's just your opinion I find myself raiding even more when I am decked out in full min-max gear, just for the lulz. Especially funny with Alexios when raiding a fort - through the front door in broad daylight, shooting a fire arrow to call the reinforcements and extra Mercs. Pure mayhem, especially with all the Atlantis additions. Demigod simulator of the best kind. You can't pull that in any of the other AC games, just not the same.

I don't disagree entirely with you, for me Origins is a better put together game and with a better narrative/story but I liked Kassandra better than Bayek and I found the combat better in Odyssey. It also helped that I know more about Greek History than the Egyptian history in Origins.

Oh, it still motivates ME, I just don't think it works as a motivation for the character. The protagonist will need something more. I'd like to see the Brotherhood vs the Order front and center, but we'll see. I'd also like to have a choice as to which side to aid/join. I can't wait until we learn more specifics. Once we have some names or events to nail down the timeframes, I can freshen my period knowledge. I know a little about the history of the region, but mostly generalities.

Take this with a large grain of salt, but this leak for the next AC (Ragnarok) has been gaining traction today... www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/emejl0/assassins_creed_ragnarok_new_4chan_leak/- Title of the next game is Ragnarok, codenamed Kingdom - Will launch on Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X - Officially announced in february at the upcoming playstation event, release date September 29th, 2020. - Up to 4 player drop in drop out co-op like Ghost Recon wildlands. - Player can only play as a single character, Jora, who can be chosen to be male or female. - Jora led a small band of 4 during their adventures which is why other players can drop in and out for co-op. - Continues heavy RPG mechanics now including different classes and mild skill tree changes based on class. Player class can be changed by a specific character. - Combat is upgraded with more weapon types and special abilities for every weapon grouping.- Each weapon can have runes added, be upgraded, and durability increased. - Weapon durability does now come into play, forcing players to use their weapon pool more effectively and forced to manage a smaller inventory that can be upgraded - Replacing adrenaline is a berserker mode which also activates special runes like fire, frost, or lightning damage. - Sailing returns is less combat intensive and more focused on exploration and travel including being able to navigate tight rivers and wetlands - Parkour is upgraded with tree climbing and new animations - The hidden blade is back and is far more customizable in terms of cosmetics. Can be upgraded to kill in one stab - Stealth is upgraded by having physical stealth skills such as hiding in mud, snow, crouching in bushes, hiding in bales of hay, etc.- Players can now also hide in crowds of civilians if their outfit/ armor is appropriate otherwise it can attract attention. - Players now have a reputation system based on quests completed for people in cities, the town officials, clothing worn, crimes committed, etc. Some quests and story missions can only be completed after reaching a certain reputation with kingdoms. - Conquest battles return to help capture some settlements from templars and players can approach them in a variety of ways. - Players can also find battles between warring kingdoms occurring dynamically throughout the world. - Multiple settlements throughout the world can be captured and controlled for trade and currency gains - Players can organize large scale raids of forts and cities with nearby viking camps, wait for their own raids, or go in by themselves. - The assassins are believed to have a connection to Odin and dub their raven drone as odin sight .- Difficulty returns but focuses more on parry times, player health, and enemy reaction times rather than enemy health - Levelling is overhauled to allow players to improve skillsets to gain experience, like in Skyrim. As a result, level locking regions and content is gone. - Some skills are unlocked by reaching a high enough skillset level, some must be bought with skill points, and others are unlocked through game/ story progression. - The map is massive. Like all of northern europe. My source mentioned big cities being York, London, Paris, and kiev. Every kingdom was meant to be really unique. Potential Story Spoilers Game begins in 845 CE at the siege of Paris with you playing as Jora’s father, Rorik who’s an ally of the viking leader Ragnar.
We next cut to 863 as the teenage Jora living in Novagrad?. Eventually we meet assassins and are sent to deliver a package to Ragnar in Uppsala.
Jora becomes a thane to Ragnar allowing the settlement system and we then follow him to northumbria where the templar Aella kills Ragnar.
Jora returns to Ragnars sons where the army is formed to combat the templars that control most of europe
We follow most of the invasion and war, becoming allies with Alfred, conquer kiev, help rollo in normandy, and overthrow fat charles in france.
Then a templar named Bjorn has an eden piece that’s like a knife that gives him control over vikings and tries to invade england again (idk what this is, google translate may be screwing up).
Then we kill Bjorn in a temple and give his knife to his mother’s who’s ragnar’s ex?
Also there are a ton of temples that are each protected by a mythical beast like a giant snake, a dragon, kraken, and a giant. EDIT: Jason Schrier touched on this leak as well... www.resetera.com/threads/assassins-creed-ragnarok-new-4chan-leak.163980/post-28114077"I’ll poke around. Some of the details here match what I’ve heard but I hadn’t heard all of them. And this seems like a realistic leak as opposed to someone’s fantasy list of bullet points."

I almost posted it earlier today, but decided not to because some of the stuff looked a bit weird to me (weapon durability??, no PC support??). Going by Jason Schreier's comment, some of it probably come from documentation and not a developer or demonstration of the game.
Considering it mention when it's going to be presented (Playstation event on February 12th) and released, my guess this leak comes from someone who got marketing documentation that extrapolated a bunch of things out of the wording.

Yeah, my feelings are somewhat mixed on this as well. I hate weapon durability as well, don't care for co-op, and the thought of limited inventory is already giving me a headache. However, the scope of the game world sounds impressive, with several cities and lots to explore. And I'm sure it'll be gorgeous. I love viking-themed games, so they're already sold me there. Raids sound potentially interesting, as does the stealth and improved parkour. The sailing sounds like it could be fun as well. So... we'll see what pans out. I'm sure the PC omission was a mistake though. I can't Ubi passing up on it, especially if it's out for XBox.

I'm sure the PC omission was a mistake though. I can't Ubi passing up on it, especially if it's out for XBox. 4 player co-op was in AC Unity (also helmed by Ubi Montréal, like this game is), so that's something they are bringing back I guess. The limited inventory might just be a weird understanding of the weapon slots unlocking from the previous two games going by the rest of the line. I do like the stealth stuff, but having 4 npcs/co-opers running around me makes me think something is not right in those info or it won't be as great as it sound. Also, the landmass scope feels way too large to me. Odyssey is massive and that was a very reduced in size Greece and nearby islands. From England (York/London) to Ukraine (Kiev) is insane even with Odyssey downsizing factor applied. That's Daggerfall level of insanity and no way it has 1/5 of Daggerfall place of interests (cities, inns, dungeons, etc) to populate that landmass (note: Daggerfall has 15,251 such POI).

I have a feeling they're going to break the game down into separate regions, I'd be very surprised if was one continuous map. Never played Unity, but I'll have a look at some gameplay to see how they implemented it.

Never played Unity, but I'll have a look at some gameplay to see how they implemented it. Going by the leak, I think the Ghost Recon Wildlands might be closer as the leak mention than AC Unity. In Unity, the co-op was limited to specific missions and part of the game, while Wildlands is similar to BG1/2 and DOS1/2: the NPCs in your party are controlled by real person in multiplayer mode instead of the AI(/yourself).

Wonder what lies they'll tell about this one to sell copies.

While I get PS wants to make a big splash for their new console announcement, I'm still a little surprised they wouldn't hang on to announce it at their own E3 conference, as they usually do. Not that I'm really complaining. Honestly, the sooner we get a trailer, the better... Though I do wonder how much Sony paid Ubi for that privilege. (Assuming this is all true ofc...)

I've been checking all the leaked stuff about "Kingdom" and this new leak is those info plus a bunch of previous AC games features (i.e. social stealth, parkour, climbing trees, co-op) mixed with Skyrim's design.
The accurate stuff might just be the previously leak info (Ragnarok, Viking based after Ragnar's death, protag named Jora, raven's sight instead of eagle's sight).

Same weapon durability and small inventory is just damn ridiculous and I sure hope the PC omission was a mistake!!!!!
