Never played Unity, but I'll have a look at some gameplay to see how they implemented it. Going by the leak, I think the Ghost Recon Wildlands might be closer as the leak mention than AC Unity. In Unity, the co-op was limited to specific missions and part of the game, while Wildlands is similar to BG1/2 and DOS1/2: the NPCs in your party are controlled by real person in multiplayer mode instead of the AI(/yourself). If it is done right the Co-Op thing can work, I liked how you could play The Division entirely solo but team up to repeat main missions with a team on a higher difficulty for better loot. I hated in Unity that I HAD to Co-Op for at least one of the missions because I just found it impossible other wise so I hope they don't make say Conquest Battles that you can only do Co-OP.

Weapon durability...I have no issue with it.

From the leak I am especially happy to see the return of being able to play as a male or female character and rpg mechanics.
As far as leading a band of 4/co-op, I hope that means that there will be AI companions for people who don't want to play co-op. If 4-person co-op is required, it would be a dealbreaker for me. So, I will wait and see how they handle that (if it is true).

You don't want me to drop in during your stealth run so I can charge in with a berserker shout while raising all alarms in a 10-mile radius? Sheesh, some people...
Watch Dogs 2 is a somewhat good example. You can block all co-op or just the PvP one. And decide at any time if you want to join someone's mission, etc.

- Another insider has chimed in throwing some more cold water on yesterday's rumors...ZhugeEX Senior Analyst at Niko PartnersFor what it’s worth. All of the new AC leaks so far have been incorrect. It’s not even called Ragnarok. Sure. Some of the details are right. Like improved combat or whatever. But in general they’re not that accurate. These recent leaks are based on the original AC Kingdom leak from Kotaku itself. So some of it is true or not far off the truth. But mostly it’s a bunch of educated guesses. As above, the final name isn’t even ragnarok.

I like to have the return of an eagle, like in Odyssey, or maybe an owl to circle in the air showing the area from high up. I found that to be one of the best features in Odyssey.

Though given the viking setting, I'd be surprised if it wasn't a raven. In one of the AC novels, Eagle Sight was know as "Odin's Sight".

Artist who "left" Ubisoft since and has deleted said images real fast despite claiming they were a "personal project". This "insider" is claiming those were fakes... His backpedaling after being shown Schreier's comment (note, that thread is about a different, clearly fake, leak than the one from yesterday) shows he haven't read all the leaks about the game. Yet he claims they are all fakes. He even seems to think that Kotaku leaked more info than bringing up the Viking poster with the Eden apple in The Division 2 with Schreier saying that the internal code name was Kingdom. He seems suspect to me...and there was a lots of suspect things in yesterday's leak too.

I wouldn't worry about him personally, he's not gonna be the guy who just makes stuff up. He has a solid reputation and a big following (including a lot of game devs), so I don't see him risking that. He sounds like he was hasty and just didn't choose his words carefully enough. The rumors were likely just someone compiling things that were true from elsewhere with their own conjecture, so they're "fake" in that regard.

The rumors were likely just someone compiling things that were true from elsewhere with their own conjecture, so they're "fake" in that regard. I checked his twitter, even his bio on the official website of the company he works at, before responding. He mostly post official news about the gaming industry and that fit his job description at Niko Partners. He does some "I'm an analyst and this is what I predict stuff" too, but not that much. He doesn't appear to have sources at Ubisoft or to be into the gaming rumor/leak train. His first comment might have been hasty, but the second one was just trying to save face. Every rumors/leaks are people compiling things from somewhere with their own conjunctures. Even Schreier does it when he gets inside information, he always add his 2 cents to them. The one from yesterday basically had the plot from Vikings as story beats, they really should have gone with The Last Kingdom for historical accuracy at least...

If they're really including most of Europe, then it will definitely be multi-region open world. Which I'm perfectly fine with. That's insane scale. Also, sign me the hell up for Viking raids.

If we get a brutal assassin like Connor in AC3, I'm all in. I've only played AC4 after that one, but Edward felt pretty weak compared to Connor. I even stopped playing during my 2nd playthrough of AC4 (despite the superior naval part) because I was tired of desynchronizations because a guard spotted me. I mean, in AC3, if I got spotted, I could mostly "genocide" the city garnison coming at me, but in AC4, if I'm on an island with 10 guards and one of them spotted me, boom, desynchronized... Like I couldn't take care of 10 soldiers... It's not like they're gonna send a text to their HQ which would bring reinforcements in powerboats in a few minutes

BTW I got AC:Unity for free on Uplay, would you recommend it to a non-stealthy player ? I can be stealthy (I've played Deus Ex games, Hitman, AC up to Black Flag) but I really dislike mission failure due to failed stealth. I know the game was a bugfest on release but somehow got better

By whistle you mean the possibility to call to arms other assassins ? It was the great addition from AC:brotherhood, was improved in AC3 (named companions with a recruitment story) but it was sadly absent in AC4 (but that naval warfare was great... Except you couldn't use your armada in combat either...) I don't mind if bad stealth leads to open fights, I prefer it to failed mission, and breaking stealth should have consequences (even though having all guards magically alerted miles away is dumb) As long as the sword fight is good and gameplay isn't a rollfest à la Dark Souls (this almost ruined The Witcher 2 for me), I'm ok with fighting troops

Unity's combat is a little more challenging than in the previous games, especially in the beginning before you get stronger gear. I played it mostly stealthy because when I had ot face multiple opponents, death did happen quite a bit. That said, unity is a decent AC. It's a huge step up visually from Black Flag/Rogue. The stroy is ok, though all the social crap that they shoved into the game is annoying and IMO, one can tell that the separate coop missions took way from the campaign's story line. Still, I'd give it a try. See if you like it.

Thanks for the info, I'll try it (it's free after all), if the combat is too hard I'll set difficulty to easy (if that's possible). I haven't played an AC game in years so I might need to get used to the block/counter attack style (the closest I've played recently is the Guardian style from Technomancer and it was OP)

Nice Although annoyed there are still these kinds of of objectives ("escape and hide"), I don't like when they throw an infinite amount of guards and you have to flee when you can get rid of that many

Nice Although annoyed there are still these kinds of of objectives ("escape and hide"), I don't like when they throw an infinite amount of guards and you have to flee when you can get rid of that many Most of those are sub-objectives though IIRC. This is early on and I just wanted to rack up some kills and practice my counter so I was ignoring the objective but this objective is just to teach new people to the game. I agree some of them are really annoying, especially the stealth ones that are part of achieving the actual mission but for the most part they are sub-objectives and I just ignore them.

I can be stealthy (I've played Deus Ex games, Hitman, AC up to Black Flag) but I really dislike mission failure due to failed stealth. I know the game was a bugfest on release but somehow got better It was mostly a bugfest in the graphical department aside from one or two annoying glitches like for me in the tutorial for I could not get out of the hay I did my dive into and you must dive into that hay. I never played Unity as a non-stealth player, but if you have been able to in the past with the prior Assassin's Creed games then I don't see how it would be that different you might still need to use smoke grenades and such while in combat. The game play only really changes with Assassin's Creed: Origins, now Syndicate had different trees so when you were playing Jacob you were more designed for combat over stealth then when playing Evie, but I did a lot of stealth on both characters might just need to spec them differently then I did.

Mike Laidlaw @mike_LaidlawQuick update from me! Today (Jan 31st) is my last day with Ubisoft. Huge thanks to the talented and welcoming folks at Ubisoft Quebec City for my time there. Now to take stock and figure out what’s next! - Well... that was brief.

At least on the surface, Ubi seemed like a good fit for him. I guess it could be anything, really. Personality problems, office politics, etc...
