I'm downloading Origins again, because I got the season pass (it's 60% off on UPlay) and apparently the two story DLCs are very good. Which means I will have to play it again, as I don'T remember if I still have a save. This is fine as it's not that long and I really liked the story. I might have more issues with the controls through, it's like the total opposite of Odyssey. The Curse of the Pharaohs has some of the most beautiful scenery I've seen in a game.

And I don't have an Origins save anymore. I shouldn't be surprised, I played it before my HD crashed last year. Now I'm wondering if I should focus on finishing Odyssey main story first (stop getting sidetracked!) or start Origins already. I'm kinda amused at people complaining Origins was too long. It took me 28 hours to go through the first time around and I had no idea what I was doing. I can probably finish it in 20 hours now, although I might take more time as I skipped a lots of side content in the game the first time I played it. I also need to advance my GW2 character and probably my SWTOR one too.

The other day I finished clearing the map after taking a break from the main story, opening all the "?" and clearing the ones that I knew didn't have a story component to them. Yesterday launched back into the main quest and also the real dad quest It was good to get back on the main track.

Playing Origins, the historian in me is not liking how they handled some of these characters. They got some of the characters, like Cleopatra and especially Caesar, just wrong either using the fictional stereotypes of them or just changing how they were completely.

I tend to think of these games, the game part, as being more of a gateway drug to learning history rather than learning actual history.

Yeah, they've never been the best despite flouting how they work with historians. These ones I just found especially annoying, since like with Cleopatra one of their own info notes talks about how Cleopatra was nothing like how they portray her in this same game. And considering Caesar's policies ironically he would have been exactly the kind of leader the Assassins would support.

Also forced breakup of Aya and Bayek is forced. There's practically no buildup to it, and it serves no purpose other than "Assassin's Creed game needs a sad ending".

Also forced breakup of Aya and Bayek is forced. There's practically no buildup to it, and it serves no purpose other than "Assassin's Creed game needs a sad ending". I've only just met Celeopatra, and I'm honestly already bored with that marriage. Their son died a year ago, accidentally stabbed to death by his father, they barely ever see each other and when they do they're usually plotting murders. I've never been in a partnership like that, obviously, but I would imagine that it would really take a toll on the relationship. But no, Bayek and Aya are as happy together and devoted to each other as any couple I've ever seen, and it feels really, really out of place and rather undermines the dramatic poignancy of the whole revenge quest. Also just got presented with the second round of assassination targets, and rolled my eyes at each one. Used to be, the introduction of a target would go into their role in society and how they've been exploiting it, how they fit into the local Templar power structure and why specifically they need to be removed. But no, now it's "this person with a generic animal moniker is just arbitrarily oppressing people in that region over there. Go kill." Yawn.

The base game was really cheap just prior to the expansion's release so that might have had an influence on The Division 2.

So I thought I might share this here because i just made my day (though this information comes too late for me at least for now): I made a post in the Ubisoft forums about my biggest issue with the new AC games. That issue is the question mark symbols that keep popping up on the compass and how we can't disable them on their own and how that messes up proper exploration of the world. And I asked them to implement a proper toggle for Valhalla. forums.ubisoft.com/showthread.php/2224911-Please-let-me-disable-question-marks-on-the-compass(by the way, if you feel like I do, please respond and keep this thread alive. /shameless plug ) Anyway, the thing I wanted to share is that a guy responded and told me that there is actually a mod out there that allows you to adjust the visibility of all sorts of effects and hud elements individually. This includes my question marks but also heaps of other stuff that could potentially annoy people. I didn't even realize there was a section for Odyssey on the Nexus but this is very cool indeed. Though you guys might like to check this out (or the mod section in general, there are quite a few texture mods in there ... and a lot of nude mods obviously, Alkibiades would be proud ). Now, I haven't tested any of this and since I just finished my current Odyssey playthrough, it'll be a while before I get back to the game but when I do, this will be the first thing I'll install. Here is the link: www.nexusmods.com/assassinscreedodyssey/mods/38And btw, there is similar mod for Origins in the section for that game as well.

I really don't like that the micro transaction spending went up 170% compared to Origins. I'm sure that means we are gonna get even more stuff chopped up and locked away inside that paywall. Or stuck behind the boring grind of orichalcum or something similar.

Unity is a beautiful game and the combat and parkour are good. The Story is a bit Meh and Arno is the weakest protag in my opinion, Elise though is great. I'd highly recommend doing Rogue before Unity, the end of Rogue ties in exactly with the start of Unity and it ties up some AC3 stuff. It's also not that long and Shay is a goo character and its fun to play the other side as a Templar.

Hopefully we can have another game where we side with the Order of the Ancients/Templars. Or maybe as choices continue to grow eventually we can choose which side our character joins.

Watching Ghost of Tsushima gameplay and features again, I can't help but echo the other viewers; this is the Japanese AC we're not getting. This game looks good. Too bad it's on console but I'll definitely be watching game play when it launches.
I have to wonder if AC would have a Japanese setting.

But of course, it had a bloody console exclusive... I'm sure Ubi will get there, eventually.

Also I saw that the Brotherhood of Venice board game coming out later this year has a modern day expansion set in Tokyo with characters like Layla and Rebecca that's apparently canon. Who wants to bet important things will happen in that that makes the transition from Odyssey to Valhalla confusing and brushed over?
