Man I'm looking at some gameplay here and seems they are going to treat the modern day setting like an afterthought again. I remember back in the day when the modern assassin struggles seemed way more interesting then ancient times shenanigans.

Seems Ubisoft moved from meh to just close to great with this.
What always bugs me is their UI and markers everywhere design. Why not use that bloody bird that's following you instead?

Not a fan of the UI design either. I know you can disable all the elements but thats pointless when you need most of them. I wish there was a scaling option. Nice to see solid reviews but people seem to be very divided on story and combat.

Reverse leaps of faith? Neato, but it's the same hay, lol! Gotta say that's one element of AC that is hard to get tired of.

I always think the hay wouldn't hold every time the protag has to leap from a skyscraper / tower. Going through head; you can't be serious!

Yeah, I always had my doubts about hay, and in AC1 I actually started out with a bug where Altair got killed after hitting the hay in the leap of Faith. Now, that was realism...
Speaking of realism, I am worried about all the reviews declaring it to be like W3. I hope it’s just a euphemism for “good game with good graphics”, not that the game is a 150 hrs of anguished grimdark with a guess which special sword to use on every creature you meet...

Watching gameplay now. omg, the map is huge, so many zones. Graphics and combat look ok. I've a feeling this is not going to be my cup of tea; I'm not liking the look of the huge zones and the quests. Reminds me of Shadow of Mordor that I never finished. P.S. Oh gosh. Remember the mini-game in DAI where you link up all the dots to form a picture. This one has you try to link the picture to the star clusters in the night sky. Definitely like SoM, everywhere the protag goes (in the desert), everything seems hostile.

Yeah, I am concerned about the overwhelming size as well. The whole thing looks bloated. Like five or six times more than what we see in DAI. Unlike DAI where the zones varied, I'm already zonked out by the first desert zone. Sand, sand, sand. I'm not impressed. I'm not sure why. I'm impressed by the Hissing Wastes in DAI. I'm impressed with the desert planet in Andromeda that made me think of DUNE. It may be different later but I doubt it, the setting is Egypt after all. It doesn't help the streamers (not the one I always watch, he's on Wolfenstein at the moment) are busy borking mobs or going round and round in a arena. I'm not getting any main story elements at the moment, just side quests. VA is passable, facial animations ok.

We'll see. I am nowhere near Origins yet in the storyline, so I can sleep on it forever. Just about to fire up AC2 and see if I can get a bit more into it.

I'm really enjoying the game so far. Combat takes getting used to, and you kind of have to unlearn everything you know about AC, but honestly that's a good thing. It's familiar, but fresh.
Also loving Bayek so far. At the rate he's going he could easily become my favorite assassin.

Just about to fire up AC2 and see if I can get a bit more into it. My last played game for this series is AC III. I never bothered with the rest that came after. I think I got bored with the same premise / gameplay. I was thinking I could jump back in with Origins but nothing of what I'm seeing now is grabbing me.

As far as I am concerned AC1 was excellent and AC2 is hobbling. Anyways, you guys won't believe it, but the sound got cut off on my machine because some crazy NVIDIA drive got installed and wanted to play sound through it. Had to disable it and re-rout back through my realtek, and sound came back. Is it some dumb Uplay thing, because I can see people complaining about it on AC:Origin....

Also pro tip:
Press RT+Y (hair) or LT+Y (beard) or its equivalent in the gear screen to toggle Bayek's hair and beard to whatever combination you want.

There's no denying how bloody gorgeous it is. Goddamn. Switching targets in combat is odd. I'm not even sure how it's supposed to work. So far it seems the PC port got the attention it needed.

I did watch this one yesterday. I'm still leaning towards perhaps getting the game at some point. The "exotic" factor with this setting looks real nice to me. Don't like that Borderlands ish style of item leveling in which you're supposed to keep finding and upgrading your gear (with exception of Borderlands itself), but who knows I may end up liking it. I wonder though, this game has loot boxes and shit too?
