I replayed DAI again not long ago and am currently redoing all my old characters in DAO and DA2 but am just about to take a break having played TW3 again, HZD again and now the DA stuff I need to play a shooter again. One day I hope to be at the point where I've forgotten enough of DA to do a fresh run from the beginning

I am not certain that the story in Odyssey is better for me. The big knock is that I completely forgot about it playing and completed the story without realizing it. I think for me it is Kassandra that makes Odyssey better. Not the story because Kassandra felt more than a one note character and wasn't fighting their nature as a Spartan versus Eivor not being very Viking unless it was convenient for the story. One thing I have learned with both Odyssey and Valhalla is I don't like the sections where you are reliving the ISU memories for those both were the least liked parts of the games for me.
With both games I have never really gone back after moving on. I do have twice as much time with Valhalla as I do with Odyssey, but I didn't start playing Odyssey until after everything was released when I went back on with the approach of "one last time" to try and get beyond the starting island. So that meant I did a lot of just logging into Valhalla for daily quests and challenges waiting for more content where everything was pretty much a straight line to the end for Odyssey and I think the DLC really pushed me away from Odyssey for I didn't mind the first DLC packs for Valhalla, but Ragnarok left me with the same feeling as the DLC packs for Odyssey.
I would say as of this moment any purchase of Mirage is highly unlikely. Especially from what has been announced with the game. Going back to more pre-Origin's gameplay would be nice, but I don't think they fully learned the lesson that people want some open world and not fully corridor gameplay, but something in the middle not full of unrelated tasks.
Edit:
I have the least about of time for a Dragon Age game with Inquisition, but I think it has a lot of the same reasons why I don't have a lot of post-game play with Odyssey or Valhalla. Not having NG+ and how much I disliked crafting and gathering materials or traversing the game. I am also more sci-fi when it comes to my gameplay options so I have thousands of hours in Mas Effect and just hundreds in Dragon Age. The most game outside of a MMO is Mass Effect 2 and 3 with both games having over 2,000 hours each.
I will never do this again, but on my main character for World of Warcraft I have over 16,000 hours played.

It's fresh enough for me, I think

ASSASSIN’S CREED CODENAME RED TO FEATURE BOTH A SAMURAI AND SHINOBIinsider-gaming.com/assassins-creed-codename-red-to-feature-both-a-samurai-and-shinobi/ [RUMOR - Though Tom has a good track record ] Official details on Assassin’s Creed Codename Red are still scarce, with Ubisoft so far revealing that the game is set in Feudal Japan and is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec. That said, a few more in-development details provided under anonymity to Insider Gaming reveal that the game could be one of the best yet, especially if you’re a fan of stealth. Insider Gaming previously reported in February that Codename Red is already in ‘good shape’ and will feature two playable characters. New details provide more insight into the game’s characters though, with sources stating in Codename Red, there’s both a Samurai and Shinobi character. Details on how exactly these characters will be played are limited, but it’s understood that the short teaser officially released by Ubisoft features the game’s female samurai. The other character, the Shinobi, is understood to be an African refugee, who learned the way of the Creed. One of the more exciting details that we’ve learned though, is that one biggest design focuses of Codename Red is the focus on stealth gameplay. Seemingly, Quebec has decided to take a Splinter Cell-esque or Hitman approach to the title, with things like hiding bodies, hiding in tall grass, extinguishing lights so your shadows are not spotted etc. all being current features. It’s not entirely clear when Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be fully revealed, but Insider Gaming understands that the main focus at E3 will be on Mirage’s gameplay premiere and the formal announcement of its VR offering, Assassin’s Creed Nexus. Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is internally scheduled to release Fall of 2024, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the game sees a 2025 release.
Ubisoft really can't commit to a solo female protagonist, can they? But after 2 games with options, they don't have a problem with going straight to solo male.

What? This game has the same two options. Also, hiding in tall grass and hiding bodies isn't exactly new to the series lol. Why would they even mention that.

I think Tittus was referring to Assassins Creed Mirage, which will feature only Basim, and is the next game out of the gate. They'll then move to 'Red', which will go back to male and female options for the player.

The people I know are less than thrilled about his being the protagonist this time around and multiple saying they aren't planning on buying the game for they don't like the idea. I am definitely in that boat and last time that happened I waited until the game after that was on steep discount before even buying it. I even have a couple of friends that stopped playing Valhalla the moment they finished the story because they disliked the ending of the game that much and it seems they are building the future of the franchise on Basim at the moment too. Right now I am putting the way they are handling Basim to be about the same as the future of the IP after AC3 and how they handled Desmond and the modern content.

Which is a shame, because the setting is a really interesting one. Maybe trailers or the experiences of others will make me feel differently in due course, but at the moment, it's not even 'wait for a sale'. I have no intention of playing it because Basim is the sole protagonist. I didn't mind the ending of Valhalla, though. While it might not have been executed as smoothly as could have been hoped for, I admire the conviction to make a play like that.

The moment they said Basim was the focus, I immediately lost any interest in Mirage and see no way I’ll get it back. First game since starting where I’m just skipping it.

I prefer the older style gameplay, but I want to wait for more gameplay footage and reviews to make sure this really is a return to the old style. If I like what I see, I'll probably still get it pretty soon after release. Otherwise, it might be something I get on sale in the future. I still have to finish Rogue and Unity, and play Origins

Yeah, I finished Black Flag a while ago. You helped me find ships to raid Rogue is short, but I kind of lost interest in it part of the way in. It got tedious traveling back and forth across the map just to have one conversation at each location. But I want to finish it eventually.

Honestly it is only worth finishing for the story links to the other games AC3 and the lead into Unity. Yeah I remembered helping you I just couldn't remember if you finished it, did you write it up on here? I loved the ending, it was one of the only games to make me cry both during the game (Mary Read's story) and at the very end when Anne Bonnie sings and Edwards daughter arrives.

Whoops, got distracted thinking about the post I apparently never wrote Here are my thoughts as well as I can remember them: It was awesome. Lots of fun to play, and better ship combat than Rogue, AC3, and Odyssey. Edward is fine. Likeable enough as a character, though not one of my favorites. I'm not a pirate fan in general, but taking down ships was really fun in this game.
The ending was fine, but having read the novel focused on Haytham and knowing what is going to happen in their future (not just to Edward), it made the ending...less sweet than it looked, I suppose. I liked AC3's ending better, even though I really wish we could have saved Haytham.

You learn some stuff I think in Syndicate maybe Unity about Edwards family.
Yeah the ship combat is brilliant. I literally played hundreds of hours sinking ships to get myself to number 1 Pirate in my region, think I have been dethroned now but that was years ago.

I was a fan of Basim. Then I wasn't. Then I was kinda ....confused? about him. I will def be playing this game as it looks to be closer to the older style of combat/sneaking around stuff and focuses on the.....ASSASSINS again. Finally! I'll more than likely stay away from the other games that AC is making. Hopefully I'll get to live long enough for Bioware and CD Projekt Red to sate my RPG tastes
