dazk , I know it runs a bit contrary to the "reliving the past", but I'd love an AC RPG in which we actually go to make choices. Join the Brotherhood or the Templars. Oppose or aid a cause. I'd want a full RPG experience. At the very least, they could give us a few conversation options like in HZD. That's not an RPG, but it has some RPG elements. No matter what Aloy says, though, the game is mostly the same. She does have the power of life and death over one person, and may be able to alienate persons with insensitive dialogue. I'm not sure of the latter, though. I've been playing on Nightmare+Scaling through 19 levels, now. I like the tougher challenge, but it also gets a bit tedious. Nightmare itself is cool, but barely feels harder than Normal at most times. Enemies behave exactly the same and simply deal far stronger damage. Since I'm not in the habit of being hit, it's not a big deal. The scaling presents the exact conundrum I predicted. Weapon level vs enemy level has a sweet spot of about +/- 3 levels. With scaling, enemies generally out-level your weapons, sometimes dramatically. This means they take very little damage. It can be fun, but it gets to be monotonous after a time. I'm not sure that it actually adds anything positive to my experience. I believe I'll simply play Nightmare from now on until level 37+, and then turn on enemy-scaling. It will be perfect for NG+, if such is ever added, and for the last half of the game. (I generally hit level 40 in Giza, after Memphis, before visiting the Faiyum or anything in the heart of the map.) Yeah I'd love the choice but I also understand the conundrum that would create. I truly respect your ability to plat at that level, I think fantasy combat alludes me at that level as evidenced by my performance today on easy. I had a bad day today with ACO and actually stopped playing for ten minutes because I was so cranky. I'll leave that for a post tomorrow It's mostly a matter of just a few things. It's important to lock onto the target so that you're always facing the right foe. (You can shift targets at will.) Keep your shield up as much as possible. If you're locked on and have your shield up, you'll auto-block anything but a power attack, including all ranged attacks. Lastly, dodge around an incoming attack and counter, if possible. Blocking is great, but dodging and countering is going to kill them faster. There are likely many people who successfully play differently than I just described. Still, it's a safe path to dominating those ancient ruffians. I do t bother with parrying at all, but it's a powerful move, if you can time it right. I should probably practice, since it's the one tool missing from my toolkit. Something else I forgot to mention about my current PT is that I'm using a wide variety of weapons. I decided not to upgrade any weapons before level 40 unless I absolutely have to do so. The result is that I already have 20K drachmae before leaving Alexandria, and that I'm using a variety of weapons. There are some really cool blue/purple designs that look much better than the anime-style legendaries. I finally saw a sword that didn't have completely unbelievable proportions. I'm sure I'll outlevel it soon. I received a notice that "Sunslayer", a legendary sword, is available because we completed a community challenge. There's no way to add it to my inventory, though. Maybe it won't be available until the challenge expires? I'll have to check the site and post any answer I find. I'd like to see the model and stats, at least. I hope it's not as silly looking as all the giant-sized "gladius" designs we have. EDIT: Sunslayer is a golden-bladed version of Conductor of Souls, at least visually. Admittedly, that's probably the best looking straight sword in the game. I hope it has different stats, for variety's sake. One more thing to make me want NG+. My inventories are epic on my first two saves, but I have nothing to do with that epic gear. The Anubis outfit would be kind of cool if it had sandles and didn't make Bayek look undead. The Horus outfit likewise lacks sandals. Maybe they're throw-backs to the Egyptian Pre-Sandle Period. assassinscreed.ubisoft.com/game/en-us/news/152-316047-16/trials-of-the-gods-face-the-triumvirateEDIT 2: Redeeming Sunslayer is a bit different than redeeming the spear I got via Helix Points and the other stuff I got via Ubi Club (UPlay). One has to enter the the Community Challenges page and redeem it there. I had to check YouTube to be sure. It would be cool if it is universally available across saves. I received my notice while playing a level 12(ish) Bayek. I'll check in the morning. The sword has insanely high good damage (I was misinformed) along with Critical Hit Rate 4 and Combo Multiplier 3. Health for Crit isn't my favorite legendary trait, but at this point is irrelevant. (Still would've loved fire, poison, or Health on Hit/Kill.)

I redeemed my Sunslayer sword of the new Golden Anubis set. I’m disappointed that it’s only redeemable for one save, since it’s redeemable only once. That sucks, and is not in line with other UbiClub items. I’d have given thought to which save I wanted to apply it, had I known. In the end, it’s just another sword, and I have a lot of weapons.

Blocking is great, but dodging and countering is going to kill them faster. Hey Element Zero thanks for the tips, I have been forgetting to lock on to my targets but it mostly hasn't been an issue playing on easy combat is "easy" I have no trouble in general combat I have had twenty odd guys with bows, swords and on horseback attack me at once and taken them all down but yesterday I fought a snake, A REALLY BIG SNAKE. I have understated my combat abilities previously but I have played this type of game successfully since the days of Baldur's Gate through to DAI Trespasser. So yesterday I rocked into Memphis and unlike my usual strategy of clearing everything then progressing the main story I unwittingly advanced the main quest. I thought I was just going to see a seer but no I was without warning thrust into battle against a giant snake with no idea what to do and died. It was at this point I logged out of the game and had a quiet moment with myself to decide if I wanted to keep playing ACO. I tried to figure out what was frustrating me so much and making me get angry all the time at the game as whilst I have the occasional outburst at the PC during games this game seemed to be causing me to get frustrated all the time. And the answer is I do not know. I suspect that part of it is that I am getting older and less flexible/adaptable to new play styles and this game needs you to use too many keys and mouse buttons in combat. Hold shift, lock with centre mouse button aim with RMB dodge with space, move with WASD and fire with LMB plus change weapon with 1, 2, 3, 4 all at the same time or within a fraction of time. I thought TW3 was difficult at first but within a couple of hours it was intuitive, within 30hrs I am still not doing it all intuitively and am not sure I will. I also suspect that it is to do with the pace of the game and some of the mechanics. Having just done a few hours of meaningless copy and paste side quests where combat is easy to be suddenly pitched into combat against the snake with no idea about what I was going to face and with no idea what to do and then dying (I don't do dying well ) well it just felt like the game was trying to put one over on me. Hahahaha caught you out didn't we . It was a bit like the sea battle with Aya, absolutely no information re controls just dumped on the boat and thrust into battle. Anyway ACO gets a stay of execution for today but we'll see how it and I go today

dazk , that snake is the hardest thing in the game. It wouldn't be so bad for me if it weren't for the damn poison. It's an interesting sequence, but the difficulty is out of sorts. I can already foresee dropping from Nightmare to Easy for that fight. I have no incentive to fight it on Nightmare. I can't really imagine trying to play a game like this with Kb+M. Controllers are ergonomically superior and have tightly packed button configurations. I use a custom controller, so I'm even more picky than most. I have four paddles underneath to which I remap frequently used functions, including "lock-on". Speaking of Nightmare, my opinion of it continues to evolve. I've been getting buggy performance while playing this setting. I dropped it to hard for about an hour, and the bugs disappeared. There are certain things that are completely out of balance on Nightmare. If you get shit with a fire arrow, it's pretty much instant death. You burn so quickly that there's no hope of extinguishing the flames in combat before dying. That is annoying. There are other similar issues here and there. Honestly, it feels buggy and tacked on like the DAI Trials. It can be cool, but likely won't be my go-to difficulty. I like things to be challenging, but not buggy. I will probably end up playing Hard+scaling more often than not. Enemies are tough on Nightmare. I've been impaled by those shielded, leaping captains several times. Phylakes are brutal; nearly one hit killers. If they get the bugs fixed, it could be fun. I really want them to fix the bugged camel textures. I spent hard-earned helux pints on Sand Dweller, the world's fanciest camel. He was flawless, but now he looks like he needs a trip to the vet. Given that many might've paid extra money for some of these mounts, I hope they have extra impetus to fix them. I'm just sticking to horses this PT. I'm trying to get to level 37+ before the Trials end for this week. I would like to nab the Anubis gear on this save. If I can collect the gear I want, I might make this my go-to save for any future NG+. I'm swimming in drachmae, since I've not spent any money on upgrades. We'll see. I still won't have that Sunslayer sword in any other saves unless they fix the screwy claims process. They need to make it the same as all the other DLC/Ubi Club stuff: go to the "store", hit claim, profit.

They need to make it the same as all the other DLC/Ubi Club stuff: go to the "store", hit claim, profit. Glad to hear its not just me then re the snake . For me it was more just that you are unceremoniously dumped into it with no idea what to do, once I got the idea it was too late the first time but I did it the 2nd time whilst having a conversation with my son . Bugs, no one really seems to talk about them but I have had some real annoying ones. In stealth I am crouching along and there is a small ramp next to the bushes and Bayek just jumps to it and of course gets detected. I have had ones in combat where arrows pass straight through guys, another where the reticule was showing red but nothing was happening because there was a rope hanging down etc... I was determined to give the game a 2nd chance today and of course the first game bugged out. It was the stupid destroy the cakes for the baker mission and two of the jars of cakes were marked but invisible. I shot 42 fire arrows into where the markers were and one invisible jar broke but the other invisible jar was unhittable in any manner. So had to reset after clearing everything else. Fortunately the next missions made up for it. Just got what I assume is some Final Fantasy reference sword and shield from a meteorite mission. I am usually ok with puzzles but I had to google that one as I couldn't understand the clues. I have been remembering to hold shift (Shield Mode) and to target enemies, shield mode definitely helps as it stops damage from other enemies. Think I'll bump up the difficulty tomorrow as I feel stupid playing on Easy . I however cannot imagine playing even on hard at this stage but I also didn't imagine playing insanity in MEA . At this stage though I don't see myself playing Origins again, just too much stuff to do.

dazk, it sucks that you're experiencing bugs on top of learning a new game. I've not had any, until Nightmare, but these games always seem much better performing on console. I hope you'll come to like the game better down the road. It sounds like a lot of annoying issues are presently in the way.

The bolded is why I was able to give the combat a pass. That and the fact that I can still be a stealther like an Assassin should be. I enjoy playing that way. I did like the bows though. Man....I really liked the bows! I honestly hope they don't continue down this path of re-working the combat, but I have a feeling that they've started down this path and it will just keep changing now until it doesn't even resemble AC games anymore. It will just be a copy of every other hack and slasher game and that makes me sad. If the story continues to be good I will force myself to play through though. I just wish they would go back to the First Civ stuff. Okay, I'll stop complaining about the combat now This is the key. Adding the more intricate combat has in no way changed the stealth or flow of the game. It’s more involved and likely tougher for most players; but I imagine this is why they added Game Difficulty options for the first time. This game on Easy is pretty similar to the old games, regardless of player skill. There are not even any Trophies or content missed for playing on Easy. In the meantime, those of us who wanted more challenge can play Nightmare+Scaling. Everyone wins, since all comers are addressed. I feel like the new combat is a strictly positive addition, since it is in no way incompatible the old, “legacy” playstyle. It's positive so long as I can still play stealthy assassin. Like I said earlier, pass because Bayek is more a peace keeper/justice type guy before being an assassin. And honestly, I don't find the new combat challenging. At all. I find it tedious and boring. Nothing like doing a boss fight and it taking 10 minutes just because I have to keep dodging, rolling and scooching I understand why people like it, because it's like other games they may enjoy, but it's not ever why I played AC. AC combat, to me, used to feel unique. Now it feels like every other hacky type game. I hope that makes sense. I don't want to sound mean about it, because that's not my intention at all. I just don't like that kind of game play myself.

To clarify I don't like the combat because I am not good at it. I have no problem with the stealth system it works fine and in fact it is probably a bit too easy. My problem with combat is purely my own limitations and I can appreciate that others enjoy it. Stealth on the other hand is ruined if simple line of sight rules fail. Yesterday a guard saw me after I'd already entered a fort by stealth, had been in cover never breaking out of it for over 2 minutes by seeing me when I was at a higher level than he was (it was impossible for him to have line of sight) and he had x-ray vision because I was on the opposite side of a wall too him. This has happened more than once and the example of the guard riding by the other day was another case in hand. I hadn't broken cover for over 5 minutes when this happened as I was just sitting deciding on the best course to the treasure when a guy on a galloping horse at least 20 metres away sees me yet I was in dense cover inside the fort about 3 metres from two guards who couldn't see me and hadn't moved for 5 minutes and in that time at least 2 other patrols had passed and not seen me. I actually don't care and am not complaining but that sort of stuff frustrates the hell out of me. I was thinking more about the skill tree last night and it was along the lines of why did they add it if they weren't going to build it so it was meaningful. I am no academic on such things but most of the skill tree is all over the place and if you are going to add different weapons to the game why wouldn't a skill tree work with that? In MEA I can specialise in Assault Rifles or Shotguns yet in ACO I can power boost combo's but I can't specialise in Ranged or Dual Blades or Large weapons. I just wonder why. I don't know, what do you think Element Zero was the skill tree a waste of time in ACO or do you find it works for you? The skill tree was one of my first gripes. It's more like a skill maze. Sometimes there's a logical progression, but often there isn't. You mentioned something I'd complained about on my first PT: Why are features (auto-looting) framed as skills? How does buying a chariot require a third-tier skill, instead of just drachmae?I don't think the combat system is built correctly for such specific skills as "Single-handed", "Heavy Melee", etc... It worked in Unity because you got a weapon and mostly stuck with it. In Origins, the assumption seems to be that we rotate weapons, using the best we've found at a given point. (I'm playing this way now for the first time. I had previously upgraded my legendaries regularly.) If the loot is random as in Origins, a specialist tree becomes less useful (or more frustrating). MEA has random loot, too. It's so plentiful, though, that finding your preferred weapon type is guaranteed. Plus, we can (and should!) start crafting from the very start. I liked the skills okay in Unity, though I didn't think I would. They made sense for a novice-to-master progression. I liked that there was no tree. You simply chose what you wanted, with some restrictions. Syndicate's tree mostly made sense, but suffers from some of the same useless skills as Origins. Honestly, I don't really feel like AC benefits from skill trees, leveled enemies and RNG loot. I would prefer to have a handful of weapon types with cosmetic variance within those categories. Skill progression can be tied to narrative for zero to hero stories, and totally scrapped for most stories. I never felt restricted by Origins' leveled zones, since I always had plenty to do in the accessible zones. Still, I think this is artificial and mostly unnecessary. Origins uses it to guide plot progress, which is fine I guess. I am so with you on this! The opening up of rarer goods, chariots and auto looting in the skill tree made no sense to me at all!

This is the key. Adding the more intricate combat has in no way changed the stealth or flow of the game. I just don't like that kind of game play myself. Kaidan Fan I agree, the combat in AC was unique and SIMPLE, still required some skill with the timing but as Element Zero said once before it felt right for an assassin to fight like that (sorry paraphrasing). Skilled and better than your average soldier/guard opponent and hence the swords had stats that worked to that in terms of combos and speed. And yeah as I said above as well, I can appreciate that other people enjoy it but I am not competent when too many buttons are required and it takes away from the game for me. Strangely the funny thing is MEA revamped their combat and made it much better and yet didn't impact the game for me that's the difference to ACO. Also in MEA there were probably 3 or 4 side missions I hated, weren't realistically implemented or that were plain annoying. ACO for me so far drives me nuts with some of its side quests, they just seem so irrelevant or ridiculous and often have multiple legs to them that have you travelling back and forth and ridiculous distances. Oh I did the rescuing the children quest in Memphis which I enjoyed but the end was a bit stupid, I killed all the woman's guards on the boat and then she just walked up to me as if to ask me if I'd like a cup tea and I assassinated her? Anyway better check in on Bayek and see if he has to destroy any jars of cakes today

EDIT: This ended up being long. I'm adding bold items as way markers. I haven't felt well enough to BSN much, but I'm still going with my ACO PT. I've reached Level 37 in the Faiyum regions, so completing all of the Trials for this PT before December 26 seems probable. I just arrived in Krokodilopolis. I've not really done much in terms of investigating the Masked One running this region. I like to explore everything and do side quests first. I'm still enjoying the side quests on my third PT. They each have so much personality. Only the "brothers" and their ring makes me roll my eyes. Even that quest is mercifully brief, I noticed this PT. Phylakes are dangerous on Nightmare, but I've absolutely crushed the last three I have faced. It's always easy to tell when your skill has adapted to a higher difficulty. It stops feeling any more difficult than Normal. I'm still playing solely with weapons I find, abstaining from upgrades. I have about $90K drachmae, at present. Once I hit level 40, I'll start upgrading the legendaries I wish to use. I had hoped that enemy-scaling would mean fewer crappy loot drops, but it hasn't. The loot matches the original challenge level, rather than the scaled level. Now, for something that greatly disappoints me and makes me don the tinfoil hat. They removed the Jackal's Gaze warrior bow from the game. It used to be aquired via a specific quest. This time, I received a crappy blue/common weapon in its place. This is my favorite weapon in the game, because it's absolutely beautiful. It's a rich dark wood, has reinforced limbs, and bears a jackal's head atop the upper limb. It is also rated a 95, technically making it the best weapon in the game. (It does gave a great combination of features.) It was replaced by a bow that's nearly its visual duplicate, minus the beautiful finish. The replacement is only attainable by completing the Trials of the Gods, which means it's not going to appear in all PTs. Also, it's stats and features are not as good. I also received some crappy, forgettable reward for completing a quest that used to award the Bow of Wadjet. This is an awesome looking Light Bow, topped by a hooded cobra's head. It is also one of the two best Light Bows in the game, combing great looks with great features. I essentially kept this bow, or Smoke and Mirrors predator bow, equipped all of the time. The stylized heads of Jackal's Gaze and Bow of Wadjet made for a really cool loadout. Why U Mess Wit Muh Bows, Ubi? I'm glad I still have these in both of my other PTs. Their patch didn't wipe them from my saves. I noticed that legendary weapons and shields have been nearly non-existent during this PT. It's so obvious that I believe they might've adjusted the in-game drop-rate. Why would they do this in a SP game, unless they're trying to entice people to buy more weapons packs via microtransactions? Stuff like this pisses me off when true. I might browse the interwebs and see if anyone else has noticed this. Removing my favorite weapon and altering drop rates? WTF Ubi? The crappy RNG could be a "feature" of Nightmare, but I doubt it. Everything seems to point to meddling under the hood. They also really screwed up the great aesthetics of the base equipment. I'm talking about the collar (armor) and two bracers (melee and ranged) specifically. The color used to become progressively more intricate as it was upgraded. Now, it's just shiny. It gets progressively more shiny until it reaches its final state, at which point it becomes completely drab. 😒 The left bracer becomes a very intricate, flashy thing emblazoned with the Assassin symbol. This doesn't make sense, since the symbol was not yet in use. The right bracer becomes a huge, ugly mess, with a giant cat head on the forearm. WTH? Seems like something this big would interfere with balance and arm speed. I used to love watching my gear evolve throughout the game. Each step looked cool and "realistic". This new stuff looks so anime. I guess it fits with the oversized weapons.🙄 It's important that I mention this is a bug. These are the versions of Bayek's gear that should only appear in The Hidden Ones DLC (thus the anachronistic symbol). They said that these aren't necessarily the final versions. I hope they ditch the stupid cat head, and fix the bug. I want to see the original gear during the main campaign. Speaking of anime, I actually used the FFXV gear for a while, since it was way better than anything else in my inventory. (Sabotaged RNG and no upgrades, remember?) While I think the stuff is hideous, the lighting effects while swinging the sword are great. This is what I expected from the Isu gear in-game. Of course, there is no Isu weaponry in-game, unless you give Ubi and extra $10. Even those things aren't as well done as this FF sword. If only it weren't stunningly oversized and equipped with a motorcycle engine at the cross guard... alas. As I said before, that Isu gear should've featured a chariot; a bow that shoots arrows of light; and a sword, spear or scepter. It probably should've been the best in-game weaponry; and it definitely should've been part of the in-game discoveries (not microtransactions-fodder). There are plenty of places suitable for finding such things. dazk , I think you're attributing to me something I didn't say, or that I didn't mean to say. I never felt that the typical combat of past games was particularly iconic of or suited to Assassins. I think their individual combat styles would be pretty diverse. Each person should adapt their approach to their strengths. Also, you wouldn't want the entire Brotherhood fighting in one style. Diversity is good. I feel that direct combat skills aren't really an identifying part of being an Assassin, anyway. Some Assassins aren't great fighters, while others are. Our protagonists fight well because it must be so for the sake of the game. What separates an Assassin from a good fighter is the hidden blade and the creed. Their creed drives them to their targets and the hidden blade is a tool unique to the Brotherhood. You will have knife fighters like La Volpe; greatweapon wielders like Bartolomeo d'Alviano; dextrous mad bastards like Edward Kenway and well-rounded fighters like Arno Dorian. All are Assassins. I don't think there is a specific Assassin combat-style, only a dated video game mechanic that needed to go. I guess I'll leave it there, for now. I've had a lot of thoughts building during my couple of days away from the BSN. I've probably forgotten a few things, but this post is plenty long as is. I'm not afraid to post multiple short stories comments in one night, anyway.

Hey Element Zero sorry if I misrepresented you. I actually stopped playing ACO today and its too late for me to post fully. The loot drops have been terrible for me only Reda seems to ever give me upgrades. Also today I had two combat situations that in short were ludicrous, one took literally 15 minutes. So I went and played MEA. I am not sure if I'll go back to ACO.

This is the key. Adding the more intricate combat has in no way changed the stealth or flow of the game. Don't worry about sounding "negative", or whatnot. We're discussing a feature of which you're not a fan. You're one of the friendliest, most polite people on the BSN. Do you feel that you cannot be a stealthy player in ACO? I'm sure you already addressed this, but retreading posts on a phone is challenging. I don't feel that stealth is much different than it was in Black Flag. They added player-controlled crouch and contextual cover of Unity/Syndicate; but otherwise I think it's classic AC. I'm assuming "10 minutes to defeat a boss" is intentional hyperbole. Even Raphesh and Qatesh don't last that long. If you were being serious, I'd have to hit you with a "Git Gud" gif. I think this is sort of the key point at which our preferences diverge. I never liked the ability to mow down tons of opponents because "Assassin". Most of our opponents are professional fighters, be they soldiers or criminals. They shouldn't go down like peasants. AC:O is the first game in which this has been somewhat altered. It's not totally fixed, since good equipment = God Mode. Still, the foes are sometimes able to put up a respectable defense before getting killed. This makes the game feel much more real to me. I never bought into the idea that Assassins can kill by the dozens in combat, though I can readily understand why it gained traction. I hope they include a Nightmare mode, or whatever, from the beginning of the next game. It's a cool addition, but a bit buggy and uneven in its effects. A true "Hard" difficulty featuring better AI would be great. Nightmare just jacks up enemy damage, meaning you slaughter hundreds before getting randomly one-hit killed by some scrub you didn't dodge or block. It sounds "realistic", but it doesn't feel realistic in play. It feels a bit wonky. Shifting gears, how do you ladies and gents feel about ACO's gear? I think dazk and I discussed this a bit. I like the variety offered by the 7 different categories of weapons. I like having various appearance options. I don't particularly like the loot system, with its RPG-style glut of crap. I prefer Unity's outfit system, in which we could piece together our preferred gear, dye it, etc... I feel like this equipment system was designed with microtransactions in mind. Leveled and tiered weapons add nothing to the game's appeal, but entice the foolish to spend cash. MTs aren't going away. That being the case, I'd at least like to see leveled and tiered weapons eliminated. (Leveled enemies kind of suck, too; but that's off-topic.) Let us acquire a cool, functional weapon and be done with it. If some dope spends $10 to get some weapons early, so be it. Let him or her break their SP experience. I'd also like to see a return to more realistic weapons. These oversized weapons with magical properties are silly. I'd think AC would be the perfect game in which to accurately portray weapons' smaller-than-expected (by gamers, at least) real-life sizes. While it's fun to set foes aflame, or poison them, these can be done without "magical" weapons. Coat a weapon in flaming oil, or put your arrow into the flame (already in-game) to get fire effects. Cost a weapon in poison for a certain number of poisonous attacks. All the fun, without D&D in "historical" 49 BCE. If a weapon is going to defy these common sense restrictions, it should be an Isu item. A glowing sword that sets people aflame is more palatable if it's Isu-tech. I just recalled another minor frustration I have with this game. Bayek finds some crazy stuff during his explorations. Some of the stuff he sees would scare us, let alone a dude from Ptolemaic Egypt. Yet, upon encountering and experiencing the most insane of things, Bayek doesn't even comment. He doesn't get freaked out; doesn't offer ideas or conjecture; and generally seems unfazed by it all. Spoilery example below in an sblock. This destroys immersion when it happens. One would think that Bayek would be flabbergasted the first time he dematerializes inside an Isu vault and reappears outside. Yet, he doesn't even comment on any part of the entire experience. Lazy presentation, guys, and I never use that word.

If you do eventually decide to give up on it for good, make sure you view the scenes on YouTube. It has a lot of tie-ins to "future" (past, technically) games and established lore. It also has some touching scenes, in my opinion. My heart was really with Bayek; especially by the end. He loses and overcomes so much.

dazk, you should edit out my spoiler from your quote. I initially mistyped my sblock, and you've openly quoted the spoiler as a result. I had a flashback to another forum in which "sblock", rather than "spoiler", went into those brackets.

Hey saw your last post to KFK and seriously today I fought a Phylake for 15 minutes, he just took almost no damage, I shot at least 50 arrows into him and reduced his white armor bar by two squares and to top it off my health wouldn't regenerate. Even combos were doing the tiniest amount of damage and he was not much higher level than me. Then I fought a guy with a shield who was impossible to hit. I have fought heaps of these guys and never had a problem but this guys seemed to have some sort of plot armor. I hit him at least five times with OP and couldn't break his shield defence it was insane. It was at that point I thought I need a break and played MEA.

It sounds like you might be using severely under-leveled gear. If you try to fight bosses with gear more than three levels below their level, you can barely hurt them. Annoying for some, maybe, but it's definitely by design. I noticed a load screen tip that mentions upgrading gear before fighting a phylake. Those shielded dudes can be tough. The best way to get to them is to heavy attack (charged) their shield, which staggers them, and immediately follow up with a short combo. Alternatively, Overpower with a sword, dual swords, spear or heavy blade bypasses their shield altogether, assuming you don't miss. I've really come to like heavy blades during this PT. They aren't really all that slow, and they pack a crazy wallop. Straight sword + heavy blade has been my most common load-out. I've not had too much choice in that, to be honest, dude to RNGs. EDIT: Shielded-dude Pro Tip: It is possible, and advisable, to dodge while blocking. You need not drop your shield. These guys can kill so easily with their lunging attacks. I always keep my shield up, and dodge to the side. If I'm too slow, I likely block and get staggered. If I succeed, their flank is opened to my counter-attack.

This Phylake was only level 35 I think and I think the level of the area I am in is 30 to 33 but not sure. My brother in-law who was watching and who has played it was also like that's insane. I played The Division and it taught me very harshly about trying to play areas above your level so I never progress to an area unless I am at least a couple of levels above.

Yeah, you're attacking a dude five levels higher than both Bayek and his gear. It's amazing that you survived. You need to be within three, or four at the most, levels of most mini-bosses. Phylakes are the most powerful of them all. I was pleased with myself that I killed one three levels higher than myself earlier today. Three is still within the window, whereas five is nearly impossible. The game warns you of such foes by turning their icons red and limning them in yellow. I killed a fort captain (Dyonisias Garrison) today who had me badly out-leveled. I was there for another quest, and intended to "ghost" the quest. He saw me, though, so I had to react. I slid out of the fort and climbed back up its wall. He came around outside looking for me. I air-dropped on him, taking a chunk from his health. Then I danced away. He ended up getting isolated in a spot where he couldn't retreat and I sliced him up with my sword. All of this for a guy I'd have slaughtered if I were two levels higher. I like that there is so much variety in difficulty between the different opponents; but I don't think leveled foes, gear and protagonists are necessary for this. A level-free game design couid achieve the same. I don't know why they've used levels since Unity (where it was just 1-5, and pretty minor), but it's slightly annoying.

Anyway for a later time, Xmas Eve in OZ and I have to put presents under the tree Merry Christmas to you if it is relevant or have a happy holiday season

They were killing him in less than ten hits and only using one OP move.

(Waves) Just wanted to boast that I now own AC3! So, everything but Rogue until the end of Unity. I think I will let Rogue to remain unpurchased/unplayed for a year b/c it is logically the next game Ubisoft would give away.
Going to finish the MWL, and probably that game of Inquisition that I gave up upon in dismay fairly close to the end before going to Revelations.

There really is a whole lot of nothing in the white and black deserts. To be expected I suppose. They still did a great job with the atmosphere though, and the hallucinations were a fantastic idea.

After completing ACO.
Great atmosphere. Decent sidequests. Very weak main storytelling and therefore almost pointless.
All the "art" went into feeding the addicting of players thru microtransactions. It is still possible to play the game without touching microtransactions but for how long?
Fleecing gamers have become the bread and butter of game makers and (big) publishers and that is worrisome. For a full priced game you get poorly written main storyline + poorly written dialogs for main NPC's. Not to mention that publishers like EA and Ubisoft are not shy in stating linear storylines are passé!! I wonder why!?
