SO today in Andromeda I cleared the last 3 areas, had some hallucinations and ignored the two elephant mission. Best mission was fighting with Zahra, I hope we see her again Picked up the main quest with Cleopatra and Apollodorus, fought some sea battles then for some very important missions handed the reins to Aya????? WHY? Went on a rollicking chariot ride with Caesar and then I had had a enough as I am wasn't feeling very well This has been the weirdest AC game I have played to tell truth, the last 3 areas were almost a waste of time and handing the main mission over to a different protagonist at what feels close to the end is just strange. Anyway will pick it up again tomorrow when hopefully I am feeling better.

I didn't play much today. I felt pretty crappy, so I just wasn't up to it. I'll hit those Reda missions in the AM. I was thinking about the new anime-style Almighty Pack that's listed on the AC site. Three seem to clearly reference a specific deity, and one a concept. I'll see if I can get the image to work before yammering on about them. The shield prominently displays Thoth/Dhauty. I like the idea. I just wish it looked less plastic. It just occurred to me that the sun is sitting on his head. Thoth is generally pictured with the lunar disk, so someone colored it incorrectly. The club features an lol cat Bastet, most likely. (Wadjet was also portrayed as a cat, at times; but the game seems to be consistent with serpents for her.) It's a weird choice for a weapon design, but whatever. I'm not a big fan of those slow, heavy blunt (hehe) weapons. The spear seems to show the scarab. I'm not aware of any gods tied directly to the scarab, but it's often seen as a symbol of rebirth. They could tie that to a deity, or could have just chosen it as an "Egyptian looking" design. The bow gave me pause. Those look like vultures, which means it could be tied to Nekhbet. She was the patron of Upper Egypt, though, and this game is almost exclusively focused on Lower Egypt. (Wadjet was considered the patron of Lower Egypt.) I guess those vultures could actually be ugly falcons or something else. We'll see. This game is brimming with great Light Bows and Hunter Bows. It has two "elite" Predator Bows. Since the removal of Jackal's Gaze, the Warrior Bow assortment is shite. Maybe this will be a Warrior Bow? I think this is the most unrealistic looking set of weapons, yet. All of this game's weapons are oversized, but they do feature accurate shapes and proportions. These, though, just look like the armaments from a JRPG. I've really been disappointed by a lot of the aesthetic choices made for this game. They really did their history homework for this game, but then keep offering us silly items to muddy those waters. It's a let down for me. Not much else to share. It's late, and I'm bored and in pain, so I thought I'd muse a bit on AC stuff. EDIT: I forgot that stupid, impractical "sword". Ugh. Could be a feather design, I guess? That could mean any number of things, or nothing at all.

WHAT? They removed the Jackal's Gaze??? *cries for eternity*
I am real disappointed about the armor not being done like Unity and Syndicate, myself.

WHAT? They removed the Jackal's Gaze??? *cries for eternity* I am real disappointed about the armor not being done like Unity and Syndicate, myself. Yeah, I was pretty annoyed to have Jackal's Gaze removed. Some even had it disappear from their inventory. That would really piss me off! Fortunately, my Save #1 still has it. A dev said that it was never supposed to be in the game. Seems weird, since it's featured prominently in a cutscene in which Bayek discovers it. They say it will be available "by some means" down the road. I suspect that the third round of TotG awards will feature "95 Rating" equipment. This would include Jackal's Gaze and the Sword of the Duat (SotD appeared in someone's game via a glitch), as well as two other items. Time will tell if I'm right. I understand what they're trying to do with these community challenges, but I think they'll need to add newer challenges or lose everyone's interest. Repeating the same exact unchallenging events at a snail's pace won't cut it. Unity had CoOp related CCs, so it worked for nearly 5 months. Syndicate's CCs were repetitive garbage. I have no idea how long they went on before stopping. Better and/or more frequent rewards would also be more enticing. As it is, you can't even earn a reward for 25% of the CCs, since you can earn only one item per god. (This means four items can't be earned in one TotG cycle. Rather, three of four are accessible, and then the wait for the next samey-same CC begins.) I liked Unity's system once half the list wasn't locked behind nonsense. We can really customize our character visually in Unity. I didn't care for Syndicate's approach. It's basically what we have in Origins, minus stat boosts attached to the outfits. (Naturally, we won't have a selection of Hidden Blades in 49 BCE.) I tend to compare every AC to Unity, now, since it did so much right. It kills me that its poor PC release resulted in so many positive innovations being abandoned. I love so many things about Unity. It's more lifelike aesthetic; the perfect control of Arno we are afforded; the great customization options; the wealth of tools; the best Hidden Blade by far; etc... all add up to a very polished game.

I got another look at the map in the Siwa Vault, yesterday. I paid attention to the placement of the Sinai site, and it is exactly where I expected the THO story to take place. Oddly, the Siwa site itself wasn't on the map. Maybe someone messed up and placed it in Egypt? (Siwa is located in Libya, not Egypt.) I figured the Egyptian site was one of those we discover in-game.
I'm looking forward to this DLC, but have some worries. Syndicate's DLC was not impressive. The Season Pass for that game was infamously terrible. Secondly, we just learned that THO will raise the level cap to 45. Only 5 levels of content? That doesn't sound like a lot, even gauged by the late-game leveling rate. I hope the DLC is substantial.
I've avoided discussing my expectations since others are still playing the main story. I feel that the historical aspect of THO's story can realistically be expected to center around 30 BCE, and will thus follow a very clear road map. (I'd be shocked if this weren't the case.) The "new region", given Sinai + Rome, was pretty obvious. Also, given the time jump, I expect this DLC region will not be part of an expanded map. Ever wonder why the main menu has an empty space between "Play" and "Store", or whatever the first and second options are? It's likely so that THO and TCotP can be inserted into the main menu.
This segregation from the main game means, in my opinion, that the DLC has to be even stronger. I hope it's great, but Ubi's track record is a cause for concern. I also wonder how the main game + two DLC regions complicates their efforts to implement NG+. That feature would be more valuable to me that any expansions.

Oh, I got to play as Altair in Revelations. Me likes. Though I had a cringe about memories loaded on a DVD...

So, I guess it's official. I already played it. But I guess the important thing is that there probably won't be a new AC game this year.

That's the only one I care about. I wish they remastered 3 to make it complete on current gen hardware, but oh well.

I also wonder how the main game + two DLC regions complicates their efforts to implement NG+. That feature would be more valuable to me that any expansions. I am going to hold out till you have played the DLC till I decide whether to buy the season path, it seems expensive at $69 AUD. I have been wondering why the game/Bayek paid so much attention to specific NPC's in the game even though some played small or even non-existent parts. For example just met Praxila and she seemed to unique for the minor part she played and also people like Zahra, the boy who you rescue then help rescue his dad who is blind. Also the woman Bayek meets in the swamp protecting animals and rescuing the crocodile. Element Zero Do you think they could be recruits for the DLC? Anyway the last couple of days playing ACO have been challenging, yesterday I wasn't well and I didn't enjoy the change to playing as Aya. Today did the fort where you have to rescue Kade for Nennet and its huge, did the whole thing by stealth killing every guard, looted all 4 treasures boxes and hit "E" to open Kade's cage and PC Crashed aaaahhhh. So the guards all reset, so had to do it again and this time as there were no guards left I took Kade and his band of merry men out the front gate and at that exact moment 2 patrols of 4 came by, then another two, then another two. So I managed to kill them all and all of Kade's men were down and Kade just held on and I am like no way am I cope if I have to do this damn fort again. So Kade's guys resurrect and we start into the hills and another two patrols come along just as I can interact with him. Killed them as well but having just taken down the fort with stealth I wasn't impressed that I then had to battle 30 to 40 damn guards as soon as I walked out the damn door. So as I am sure you can imagine I was then even more unimpressed when I got the mission from Vetruvius to go back there again FFS

Haha! dazk , I like that I have to have my head (my Senu?) on a swivel. I keep putting Senu on patrol when I’m near those gates. That’s one of the high traffic strongholds. I can see how that would be frustrating, though. Particularly after the game’s largest citadel, and with the fact that you don’t like the combat all that much. I love that Citadel, but I do prefer not to be seen. It is surrounded by encampments and patrols. Things can get crazy. Getting spotted isn’t always the end of stealth. As long as they don’t light the beacons, you can kill the dudes who saw you and continue with stealth. Those mobile/mounted patrols eventually stop searching, as well. That wouldn’t help you with NPC companions, but it’s helpful in general. I don’t want to get specific, since you’re not yet finished. (It seems like you’re getting close.) Yes, there will be NPCs we’ve seen who form the core of the Brotherhood. Some of those quests you named might’ve just been good stories. Others, like Tahira, featured someone Bayek knew from his past. (I half expected a Siwan bird trainer when she called Senu.) We won’t know who most of the first assassins are until THO; but I’m positive we’ve already met some of them. I finished my fourth PT yesterday. (I was doing a lot of the same content that you were in Libya.) I really want to keep playing, but there’s nothing left to do. I’m certainly not starting from the beginning, again. I hope the next update and new mission will release Tuesday. Presumably, THO will release the week after that. That price in Australian dollars is insane! I’d wait for a lot of feedback. I know the DLCs will be available individually. You may decide to pick and choose parts you want to play. Historically, AC DLC has been underwhelming. Unity: Dead Kings was really good. It was long, had lots of optional mysteries with great rewards. Then, they rolled out a sad effort for those who bought Syndicate’s Season Pass. I don’t trust them. We’ll see how it goes. I rolled the dice, since I really enjoy Origins; but I’ll not be surprised if I get burnt. At least I got two great mounts and two great bows from the SPass, right? 😒 (They are good. I’d just really like to get a full value.) THO only raises the level cap by 5 levels. That could be a balance decision, or it could be that short.

Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered will release March 20, 2018 for PS4 and XboxOne. news.ubisoft.com/article/assassins-creed-rogue-remastered-coming-march-20-to-ps4-and-xbox-oneMeanwhile, I forgot to mention that I discovered the beauty of the “Pharaoh Armor” outfit in ACO. Reda gifted it during my last PT and I really like it. It’s clearly inspired by actual, historical armor. I play without a hood 99% of the time, and certainly don’t wear the helm/crown of Lower Egypt. It’s definitely one of the better outfits; especially if you refuse to dress as a Roman invader .

Yeah re the stealth of forts etc. the first thing I do is trap the warning fire. I nearly always get spotted once or twice but the person doesn't live long enough to make a difference . Especially when there are sometimes 3 or 4 guys all sitting or standing together, throw a fire bomb then shoot them from above I was so close to buying the shadow warrior outfit yesterday but realised how close to the end I was and thought I don't see myself playing this again for a while so showed some discipline . Will wait for DLC and see if its worth it then buy a new outfit, I go sick of the Persian gear, changed to Bayek's outfit, got sick of that wore the armor you get for beating the Phylakes but it is very drab so when I found the Protector outfit changed to that. Game has been very generous in the last few days, have gotten some great legendary gear including a spear (finally), 3 shields, a sword and a couple of bows. I am currently at the point where Aya just beat Septiiminus or whatever his name is, I am assuming that is nearly the end. I liked the way they introduced the modern day AC logo with Aya and Bayek on the beach.

The outfits were disappointing to me and I really wanted to get the Pharaoh's armor from the shop but didn't want to spend real money buying Helix Credits. I also like the Shadow Warrior armor and that's what I almost bought yesterday. Yeah I liked the roman outfit but it would just be too immersion breaking for me.

I'm trying to get completion, but I don't know if I can do it. Finding every last bit of loot is maddening. Sometimes I see the icon floating in the air but I can't find anything in the area. I do love murdering everything in my path at max level with 11 points in the Warrior skill.

I was putting points into things I didn't care about then realised I could keep putting them in the warrior things and get an extra 1% each time. My last 10 points went straight into the Warrior section.

Yeah, that Master Warrior (or whatever) is where all of my points go once I've specced all the things I know I'll use. I put 3 or 4 into the Hunter/Archery Mastery to ensure I never find a foe I can't one shot. When you see those icons from above, mark them. Senu can mark items with a map icon. There are a couple of items in the game I'd not have found if I hadn't marked them. Knowing whether to go up or down once close is very helpful. dazk , I am occasionally tempted to buy an item from the store. Then I think, "If I get the NG+ I want, I can just keep using the same save file forever." I figure I'm bound to unlock anything I want, given enough time. My Save#3 (which is PT#2) always gets the best Reda rewards. I'm constantly getting new weapons that I previously haven't seen. Today I got the Scarab Warrior outfit for the second time. I'm glad we'll be able to sell outfits after the next patch. Between my three saves, I have most of the UbiStore gear. If they do NG+, I'll get it all on one save, eventually. That's what I tell myself to avoid getting suckered by MTs. (I have bought a mount and a couple of items, mostly with existing Helix points.)

I just received a pop-up notice that I could claim "Sunslayer" for one of my saves. For just a moment I thought, "Finally! They adjusted things so that I can claim it on all of my qualifying saves." I immediately came to my senses, though. I checked the Community Challenge and saw that we have achieved 300K+ tonight. I decided to redeem it on my "primary save", since I have to choose.
The new weapon is "The Jackal" scepter. It has good perks, but it's a scepter. They are the worst of all weapons, having poor range and poor damage. I used it to take down a fort and was not all that impressed. At least it's a link in the chain toward a different piece of equipment, I guess. I want "The Sword of the Duat" and "Jackal's Gaze" to be released.
The Anubis gear looks cool, but I think they should've varied the designs to feature other deities. At present, it seems we'll get three different versions of the same weapons/shields. I started to list some examples, but realized that many of my ideas already exist thematically. They're just locked behind paywalls. 😒

Hey Element Zero just finished ACO, will write something tomorrow but I also just did the Sphynx tomb. Did you notice the ISU messenger says in the speech: "Nothing is real, Everything is Permitted"
instead of "Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted"?

instead of "Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted"? Yes. Those segments were interesting for their potential long-term story implications. They were long and wacky, though, and ruined by “average goon from the office” Voice Acting. I think they actually just grabbed people from the office and had them read aloud. It was terrible. I can’t take it remotely seriously when the “Isu” sounds like the grocery cashier. Combined with the lack of any reaction from Bayek, ugh. I enjoy finding and exploring those ruins. I just head for the door, though, when they start talking. I can read the text in X’s email if I feel the need.

Since dazk , slimgrin727 and SofaJockey, at least, have finished ACO’s main story, I feel like I can have a spoilers discussion with speculation. I’ll sblock it to protect those uninterested. You have been warned! I’ve been sitting on these thoughts since late October, so I’m sure they’ll only come back to me in fits and spurts. My speculation for The Hidden Ones is at the forefront of my mind at present. The main story runs from 49-43 BCE, with most of the game happening between 48-47 BCE. We’re told that several years will have passed between Origins and THO. Given historical events, I expect THO to be set around 30 BCE in and around Pelusium and the Roads of Horus. This timeframe and region have heavy ties to Origins’ cast. Ptolemy Auletes, Arsinoe (who went unmentioned), Cleopatra, Marc Antony and the Gabiniani all had key events take place either in this place or in this time. Pelusium was the Roman city of the Sinai that guarded the long road east to the Levant and ancient turquoise and copper mining operations. It was supported by a series of fortresses, reservoirs and customs stations. (Sound like Origins gameplay?) It also lies exactly where the Siwa Shrine’s map indicates that we’d find another Isu vault. The only chink in this theory is the Pompey died at Pelusium. His place of death isn’t named in-game, seeming to take place in eastern Herakleion, so I’ll wager this detail was altered for the sake of the story. Why 30 BCE? It’s the year in which all this game’s stories finally end. Antony and Cleopatra lose their war with Gaius Octavius (Augustus). Aya kills Cleopatra with a viper. Antony dies gruesomely, also. (Plenty of vipers in ACO! I can hear them even now as I type.) As much as I’d like this to be about Bayek, I expect Aya to play a key role, given her ties to Cleopatra. We might even see her at sea during the Battle of Actium. Throwing a vault into this already busy setting gives them the opportunity to put a new face to the enemy. Augustus, maybe? Could the Brotherhood finally begin to grasp the realities of the world and the importance of Isu-tech? I’m curious to see how the Brotherhood has developed in just over a decade (assuming I’m correct). Why did they think wearing distinguishing hoods and developing a brand logo would help them stay in the shadows? So many questions! There’s plenty in the main game that could be discussed, but my mind is on THO, at the moment. Anyone have thoughts about ACO or THO that they’d like to share?

There’s plenty in the main game that could be discussed, but my mind is on THO, at the moment. Anyone have thoughts about ACO or THO that they’d like to share? My thoughts: I know next to nothing about these times and the history but your theory sounds pretty sound based on my playing of ACO and what you have shared with me previously re the history. Given that Aya was given the glory of the last mission and that epic speech about becoming Amunet (meaning female hidden one) I'd be 99% sure she will be the main focus of the DLC which I am not sure if I am happy about to be honest. I really didn't warm to her much at all. I loved the reveal of the AC logo when Bayek drops the bird skull on the sand but like you EZ the first thing I thought when I saw the logo painted on the bureau was why are they advertising a secret order? I am guessing it is meant to be a safe house type sign (given Bayek's care in taking the kid home in the last part of the game) but yeah if hoods and a four fingered hand weren't enough of a give you away a few big blue signs surely are. I liked ACO overall, it had some really great points like the environment and the setting, some of the missions were really great, mostly the ones where Bayek was helping a non-generic NPC such as Zahra, Praxila, Khotep(?), Serella (?) and the lady from Siwa who you see offering to lose her finger at the end, they were really enjoyable as were any of the quests involving kids . I think unfortunately what really let the game down was the main story was too short and diminished in a way too bloated game. I just cannot see myself playing it again whereas I nearly always put at least 700hrs into an AC game. TW3 was the same except I got 2 1/2 PT's out of that, it was just too big and I feel compelled to do everything when I play. I would definitely jump straight back in if I could play NG+ and just do the main story again but I am just not prepared to grind again for so long at the beginning to get the better gear and level up. That would mean you could skip all the damn animal lairs at least. Combat I feel I mastered by the end but it stopped the game feeling like AC for me. Overall I'd give it a 7 I think.

Spoiler stuff in response to Element Zero and dazkI agree that the size/scope of the map/things to do did take away from the story a bit. But I felt the story was good in telling the "origins" of the assassin's. I've replayed all the AC games more times than I can count, but I will most likely not make another play through on this game simply because of the boss fights. I dislike the combat that much and the thought of rolling and scooting around for those fights again is just...ugh. I was disappointed in the modern day stuff and the first civ stuff. I hope they can do better. I found Aya to be okay. Though I wasn't buying the reason for her and Bayek not being together anymore. It was pretty obvious they loved each other deeply. Whatever, I guess they had to have some angst. I really, really liked Bayek and I hope that's who we get to play in DLC content, because otherwise, I may not care to play any. I would give it a 7 or 8 as well. If not for the combat and the first civ let down, I may have given it a 9. About the armor, I did find it slightly annoying that in Syndicate the armor pieces were locked behind finding them in chests or behind levels, but I think it was that way for Unity too? But I still liked the armors for both games, with Unity being better than Syndicate. That game will always be the most gorgeous so far, with Origins being a very close 2nd.
