In the US on console, specifically PS4, we usually get DLC around 11am EST. I'll look for this tomorrow afternoon. I have things to do in the morning, anyway. I hope the Forbes review is more accurate than the user feedback I'd encountered. It probably is from my perspective, at least. I play games more thoroughly than most, in a very completionist manner. I'll get my initial fill with that much content x3 (3 saves) for $10.
Everything about this game becomes more worthwhile with NG+. We'd get to use the myriad items whenever and however we wish. There would be no upgrade-stress. Use the items you want to use and don't worry about having to drop tens of thousands of drachmae into each to allow continuous use. Use those Anubis items that are presently cool but useless. And, the part Ubi wouldn't like, eventually acquire everything via Reda's Heka Chests. I hope NG+ is a thing once they've made their return on investment. I don't like MTs, but SP games are in a tough situation. (Some well respected devs are finally begin to speak about the SP conundrum.) If I have to tolerate crap like MTs in order to keep playing SP games, I'll tolerate it.
EDIT: I'm not a fan of the increasingly fantasy-styled outfits and gear of Origins. In the interview with the design artist, found on the Origins site, he pretty directly says that he felt a bit constrained by historical costumes and clothing. He also mentions that he eventually got to "slip in" some stuff that was initially rejected as inappropriate.
This comes to mind because I just watched the trailer again. What's up with Aya's huge NFL-style shoulder pads worn above her bare midsection? It's so stupid looking. The same fantasy approach is evident in most recent additions to the game and in THO's weapons and mounts. Sigh. Simple, accurate, non-fantastic gear would've been great. Someone should've pulled the reins tighter on the design team.

So I purchased just THO for 9.99 but it's not showing up as owned in my stuff yet. I don't know if it will change once it's released or what. Hoping there are no hiccups and also hoping I get to play some of it tonight Uplay is not even offering it individually for me in Oz yet. For me on Uplay I could click on shop/assassin's creed origins "see more"/scroll to the bottom of the page and it was listed there for 9.99 and it still is, but now if I click it, it tells me page not found and I don't know if that's because I've bought it already or not. I agree Element Zero they should reign in the crazy get ups a bit, but since the next dlc is kind of a dream or fantasy I imagine the stuff will be even more over the top. I'll tolerate the MT as well if that's what SP games need to do, but I'm not always going to like it

I’m downloading, presently, with less than a gig of the 7.6GB file remaining. I should be settled in and playing in less than 5 minutes. The file was available on the PSN when I checked around 11am. They’ve actually become very reliable these days. Who’d have thought, based upon years of PSN-related internet temper tantrums?

About 3 hours in. It's basically more of the same so far. Decent, but nothing really stands out to me. There's also fewer random AI events which kinda sucks. I've explored about half the map.

I played a lot longer than I had planned tonight. I’ve completed every side quest evident to this point, and explored every location. I’m up to the main quest “Sic Semper Tyrannis”. I’m not sure how much is left. It’s difficult to say. Since it’s my first PT of this, my pacing is weird. I chose to clear the map before doing much of anything. That makes it difficult to judge the main story at this point. I like what very little I’ve seen. I hope there’s substantial story content remaining. It’s definitely much like the main game. I get the feeling that it’s building toward a good conclusion, but we’ll see. slimgrin727, I’m seeing a ton of “Rebels” events. Hopefully we’re each experiencing a weird extreme and it evens out for both of us. The new weapons are okay, but nothing special. There are better weapons of each type already in the main game. It’s worth warning everyone that I upgraded “Smoke and Mirrors” to level 45 only to receive another on a NPC drop. I suspect that the drop could be non-random, so be forewarned. The new mounts are okay, but I think the headcrests are ridiculous. I have other mounts that I like much better. The new outfit and upgraded gear is very nice. There’s a ton of detail. If I could ditch that stupid cat’s head on the right bracer, it would be perfect. I’ve hit level 45 and leveled twice since. This Bayek has every skill trained, 5 points in Master Hunter and 11 points in Master Warrior. Combat feels like it’s on Very Easy. I’ll need to bump it back up to Nightmare. I’d been playing Hard because fire effects weren’t properly balanced. That was just patched, so I hope they’re better now. I’ll try to give a thorough, spoiler-free POV once I’ve finished it.

This is fun. Playing on Hard difficulty, tried to take out the nearby Fort at Walls-of-the-Ruler, failed (4 times). As a consolation prize, picked up an Isu horse from Reda for pasting 3 bandits...

I don’t have time for a proper recap right now. I finished the expansion this morning. It was pretty good. I like that it focused on the two rival organizations, the Order and the Brotherhood. By the end, I felt that each had fully taken shape. I really like the implied possibility for the next setting, and that Bayek would likely be its protagonist.
I guessed correctly on some of the locales, incorrectly on the exact timeframe (I predicted 33-30BCE), and surprisingly accurately on NPCs.
It’s humorous that this was $10, an excellent price; and that item packs are also $10 for 4 or 5 items. I think publishers are still trying to find the proper and ethical balance with MTs and pricing. Those obnoxious MTs allow AAA games like this, complete with expansions, to still be viable. I hope they continue to tweak this approach. Ubisoft has definitely made an effort to make these more customer friendly in recent weeks.

I have explored the map and done the side quests in the first 2 zones. I did like the first 2 main story quests and decided I was going to do all the side stuff and exploring first so I could do the story all together which is what I should have done on the original map, lol. I'm enjoying it, it's still beautiful and I completed the walls-of-the-rulers fort of whatever it's called. Stealthed my way through there and annihilated those peeps. They never stood a chance *evil cackling* My usual approach is to clear the map then progress the main story but ACO was just way too big for me to do that as a 100% strategy and too repetitive in terms of the missions. The expansion sounds good and I have downloaded it, trying to finish this MEA PT first but real life issues are getting in the way, yes I am talking to you my much loved but injured son and stupid washing machine that has died Can anyone tell me why it cost me $15 to download the same thing that you guys downloaded for $10? Man we get screwed in Australia, based on the US Australian exchange rate at most there should be a $2.50 difference. Our season pass is $65 bucks for god's sake, I only paid $75 for the game (using a 20% discount with Uplay credits).

No one prices their content at $12.50. Round it up to $15. They’re used to paying more, anyway; and we’ll add an additional $X million to our bottom line. Everyone wins!”

I think they should raise the base price of games to $80. I was paying $60 for NES games in the late 80s. The first one was Ninja Gaiden 2, if I remember correctly. It’s absurd that the price has not changed with the times. Anyone that can’t understand the financial conundrum in which the publishers find themselves is being intentionally obtuse.

The guy in the video was saying that in the US there seems to be a psychological barrier at $70 but yeah I agree, I'd happily pay $100 for a well made single player game with a great story that was finished and didn't have day one DLC at a cost etc.... Far out that means the season pass diff is $25 more expensive in Australia just using a 1 to 1 exchange rate.

You Aussies get screwed on pricing. I don't think the DLC is worth more than $10. Especially when you are digitally downloading it, I could be getting it from a server in Malmo so there is absolutely no reason to pay more for it except exchange rate but even that's debatable.

I’d be willing to pay as much as $15, but $10 is definitely more proportional with the $60 price tag for the base experience. The next expansion will be $20US. It will increase the level cap by 10; features a much larger area with two major cities; and it adds new skills. I was initially bummed that they didn’t chose another “realistic” story premise for this expansion. AC is best when Assassins and Templars fight. This would’ve required yet another timeline advancement, though; and Bayek will eventually get too old. If they needed to save some of his years for another game, I’m fine with it. I’d rather have a proper story than a compressed DLC story. I really hope they set the next game in a location twice name-dropped. It would be something new and exciting; a perfect backdrop for an AC game. I could see them getting a trilogy out of Bayek, if he can hold fan interest that long. The “third” (if ACO is first) game could be a new Hidden One of the same general era if they need to keep thinks fresh. Still, I’d not be surprised to see Bayek eventually make his way to Rome in a final chapter.

dazk, I just grasped the comment regarding Malmö. I read an experience in ACO’s tech support in which a guy’s THO wouldn’t work. It ended up that his physical copy was from a different region than his DLC. Could this happen to a fully digital transaction? Are PC releases region-coded like console releases?

Well to download you have to register and provide your country so I am guessing that's how it determines the pricing and so I am guessing that it also stamps the download in some way with that info as well. Either that or digital download has its own code that can be played anywhere?????

The two were incompatible because they were purchased in different regions. (One was NA, one was Euro, I believe.) I wasn’t sure if you’d encounter the same clash with digital downloads from different regions. As a console peasant, I have no experience with this. A lot of people use VPNs, so I’d guess we would’ve heard about any incompatibility.

I finished the dlc last night. I feel like they might actually use Bayek for another game? I see Element Zero thinks that as well. I kind of hope that's the case, I really like Bayek
