It does look fun, but, I wonder about the explanation as well. I thought the first civ stuff would be the fantasy aspect of AC games. I will forever be bitter until the go back to that stuff properly. BITTER, I SAY! Been having fun with the Discovery tour. I finished the Egypt section yesterday and started the Pyramid part today. About the NG+: anyone know if you keep all your abilities? Or do you start over? About curse of the Pharaohs: YAY for new buffs to bows! I love my bows

I have two legendary Hunter bow and Predator Bow. Finish most fights before they even start. I just learned you can steal those bull carts and ride them around the map. They are a bit slow but it is funny to see Bayek riding to some place on it.

Yeah I really want them to do better with the First Civ stuff too. Sigh's

I’m going to share a vid by #jorraptor regarding CotP. He got to see it firsthand while visiting Ubisoft, but it wasn’t yet playable. He has some great stuff without spoiling anything. It seems to be exactly what I predicted. To those asking, the pieces of Eden are involved. Still, this is in line with AC3’s fantasy “what if” scenario “The Tyranny of King Washington”. It’s not supposed to be taken 100% seriously. I’m curious to see how it’s implemented. We know projections created by the apples can do real injury, based upon numerous boss fights throughout time. It’s clear that we spend time in both the real world Thebes region and in Aaru (the Field of Reeds). It looks freaking great! All those fantasy outfits and mounts finally have a home. (Yes, I’m thinking of you flaming horse, flaming Anubis and mummy outfit.)
Without further ado, jorraptor. (He’s Dutch, so that’s the reason for his “grows on you” voice and his sketchy pronunciation.) He covers games he likes with great enthusiasm and tenacity. I’ve come to really like the guy.

I finally finished the Discovery Tour and I loved every minute of it! Now I'm trying to decide if I should wait for the next DLC or start my NG+ now.

I'm looking forward to this, and I'm glad it's good. My interests currently lie with other games, so I've yet to do the DT or a NG+. I powered it on, but I just wasn't feeling it. I'm happily immersed in another game, at the moment. If ACO weren't receiving CotP so soon, I'd likely not play it again until summer. I'm loving RoTK13 at the moment. I've felt a HZD itch. I've even been thinking of MEA. I have a number of good games, and I played a lot of ACO between October and January. CotP and DT look great, so I am looking forward to them. I'm curious to see how an Apple of Eden has Bayek walking the Field of Reeds. I probably won't do my planned pre-CotP NG+. I expect to still be playing RoTK13 right up until CotP releases.

I saw you fawning about your new love I looked into it....some kind of like...strategy game? I played a little bit of TW3 last night and I really want to do some DAO, but I want mods, and every time I look into I get overwhelmed and then...don't do it. I'm curious how this story stuff is going to work with the CotP too. Is it just going to be non-canon? I suppose I can go look around and see if I can find out some where....later

I'm curious how this story stuff is going to work with the CotP too. Is it just going to be non-canon? I suppose I can go look around and see if I can find out some where....later Haha. Yeah, it's a strategy game played from the perspective of an individual protagonist. It has some RP elements and a lot of depth. It's a great game for those into it, but I never try to sell it to others. If someone is a huge Three Kingdoms fan or a strategy game player, they'll know about it already. I saw Bayek arriving in Thebes in search of an Apple. The Apple is at the heart of all of the trouble. We know those things can create phantoms, given Flavius, Pope Rodrigo and Al Mualim. I guess that explains the "Pharoah's Shadows" we see in the streets. What I am very curious about is how an Apple explains Bayek traveling to Aaru. The DLC looks fun, but it definitely shows symptoms of the same thing all of the character outfits and gear show. The creative team felt uninspired and constricted by historical Ptolemaic Egypt. They are always looking to other cultures and mythology to bring us variety rather than simply getting creative with Ptolemaic Egypt. I think that's part of the reason I drifted away from the game. It feels less and less Egyptian with every add-on. If they wanted to make a game about Egyptian mythology, they should've just done so. AC isn'tthe place for fantasy elements, magic and (non-Isu) gods. When rumors of an Egyptian AC first circulated years ago, I imagined a game set in the Old Kingdom. We could have seen the pyramids being built, maybe a living Isu (or twin Sages as rulers) holding godlike power. Our protagonist could've found Isu relics that equipped him beyond the technological capabilities of the era. I guess the problem is that AC likes to represent a historical period, and we just don't have much on Old Kingdom Egypt in terms of visually building a world. Still, see my gripes above regarding ACO. It's circular. I really believe that an Egyptian sequel was planned for Unity. It was clear that Arno might chase Napoleon and the Apple to Egypt. When Unity got unjustly flayed, they likely had some assets that cried out for repurposing. That being the case, we eventually got Ptolemaic Egypt. Visually speaking, many of the ruins 2000 years ago aren't that different than they'd be in 1800. It's the culture and peoples of the game that are different. I was very underwhelmed by The Hidden Ones, so I really hope CotP delivers. It looks far more fun, but also pretty far afield for AC.

I'm in the DLC and while I was swimming in the water, I went to borrow a boat that a couple was manning. Hadn't seen that before- it's usually one dude muttering to himself. When I hit the prompt to mount it, Bayek rudely shoved the woman, screaming, into the water. WTF? In over 100 hrs he's never done that. I felt bad and tried to get her to climb back on, but she eventually swam to a new boat and sailed away. The AI in this game.

He usually palms their head and pushes them overboard! Hilarious, but very out of character. I guess he has a strict two-to-a-felucca policy.

Finished the DLC. It was decent, with a nice story twist but lackluster boss fight at the end. I've discovered some new twists in the combat - dodge + attack and he'll perform a unique move. Also, there's a slow-down counter thing going on I hadn't noticed before. I honestly don't get why people hate the combat. I find it engaging, challenging and really fun. I like that it's kind of a blend of TW3 and Nioh style combat, where you have unique movesets for each weapon, but you still have large crowds to contend with. My only complaint is I wish there were more options for crowd control.

My only complaint is I wish there were more options for crowd control. For me I find the combat challenging using KB+M (can't physically use a controller due to a thumb injury) as I am not that dextrous/good with navigating multiple keys especially taking my left hand off WASD to hit "F". I am also getting old and adapting to a new combat mechanism in a series of games I have played numerous times has been a challenge simply because I was comfortable with the previous system. I am not sure other than that what it is because the changes to combat in Syndicate didn't worry me and I liked that game least of all the AC games. It may also just be because I had such high expectations for Origins and it just didn't grab me in any way shape or form, for me its a "nice" game but I am struggling to find the motivation to play the DLC. I am hoping I'll be more comfortable with combat when I do.

Yeah Bayek is a likeable protagonist, I'd be happy to play him again but I hope he at least learns to react to the First Civ stuff. It was just dumbfounding that he is experiencing this unbelievable and inexplicable phenomenon happen right in front of him and ............... nothing. I found Aya a bit grating but again would be more than happy for her to be a protagonist in any upcoming continuation of their story. I'd prefer they balance out the alternation when switching between Bayek and Aya, I really didn't like how forced playing as Aya felt for a large amount of the end game. As soon as I am finished playing this latest MEA PT I intend to play the DLC, I am hoping it will grab me and make want to play the main game again.

Before release, I kept seeing “promotional Bayek” (who doesn’t even seem to be the same guy as in-game Bayek), and saying, “I wish we were playing as Aya!” Once I got to know them, I didn’t really care for Aya. Her character is fine. She makes sense. She’s just not nearly as likeable as Bayek. She is almost too focused. That no doubt aided the Brotherhood, but it’s not what I want for the protagonist in this game.

As it stands, Bayek fawns over her and she's like sorry, I got bigger fish to fry. I'm not sure this is what the writers were going for. Also, him experiencing alien tech like it's just another tuesday in Egypt is indeed a bit silly. I just did the Final Fantasy quest and good lord, immersion goes right out the window. I know it's technically an easter egg but I find it annoying.

Yeah I agree, I was excited at the thought of playing as Aya but there were some character inconsistencies that seemed out of place and that were a bit contrived to make the story go where the writers wanted it to that hurt my appreciation of her. I would have liked more time early on to play as her to get used to her different combat style as well.

Her fighting style didn’t feel too different to me. She was a more squishy version of Bayek. Bayek is acrobatic, too, when using dual swords. Her animations were a bit different, but she moved the same distances and the like. I noticed she even grew 15cm while we used her. Bayek was noticeably taller in most scenes, but not alongside protagonist Aya. She got stretched to fit Bayek’s rig, I guess.
This might’ve been one of the better settings in which to have a female lead. We all know most societies aren’t egalitarian, and were significantly less so in the past. If we do ever get another female lead, I hope she interacts with the setting in a believable (and suitably heroic!) fashion. I don’t mind her defying all the injustice, I just want it acknowledged that she’s special. I’ve been saying we could use a female lead in AC forever. I’m not holding my breath. Evie shared the spotlight (in a crummy game) and Aveline was a PSP hero. I think I’m glad Aya wasn’t that female lead, though. We’d have missed out on Bayek!

I don't like Aya. She's inexplicably distant and cold. If she really must leave Bayek to do assassin work elsewhere, then they need to make the reasons more urgent. In the beginning I found her to be extremely warm and loving towards him...but as the game went on she did seem to pull away. I felt it had to do with her thinking there were things more important than them. That said, the reason they couldn't be together as husband and wife really didn't make sense to me. I don't dislike her, but I like Bayek so, so much more. At the end of the DLC I felt like maybe she was having second thoughts and I hope the next game is their story and they're back together. Because I'm a hopeless romantic!

Does anyone know what the 23/30 (example) means over each area? What does that mean I need to complete? I'm 99% completion and now I'm set on getting 100%
