The more I hear about this game the more enthused I get about it. I totally want to fight a crocodile.
Edit: Here is a let's play video.

I like what I've seen of Bayek so far. It looks like they've finally realized the 'stoic, moody' thing they tried with Connor isn't a bad thing as long as they have him show some emotions other than angry sometimes, which Bayek seems to do. I was worried Ubi was just going to give us yet another charming womanizer guy, like they seem to have been stuck with for a while now.
...needs a beard though.

I gotta say, I will probably miss the mini map. I tend to really dislike the navigation bar thing at the top. I do like that I don't have to hold the key to loot now though A small thing, but I appreciate it. I also like having an inventory to manage. I know, I'm strange, And I'm super happy horse riding is back

13 writers to do quests. That is alot. I think more than either CDPR or Bioware has for single projects. They're taking the quest idea seriously.

Oh, wow, multiple protagonists too? Okay, I have never played any AC game, but that setting and that trailer blew me away. I do like how Bayek looks, but I was worried about him being a fixed, albeit rather awesome, lead. But if you can chose you Assassin, I am... preordering, I guess.

So I finished up Syndicate. Quite disappointed with the ending, as well as the end encounter with Starrick. What a bummer. But man I'm gonna miss playing as Evie and Jacob. They did a really good job bringing those two to life, particularly with their witty dialog. I like how they didn't always get along and had a bit of a sibling rivalry. And I knew Evie was gonna fall for Greene.

I liked Evie and Jacob too. I liked that there were times during the story where I didn't like one, the other or sometimes both of them and then in the end they grew enough that I ended up loving them both.
I agree that the Jack the Ripper DLC is good!

The Ripper DLC was quite good. I liked the smallish new areas you get to play in, and the story was solid. I would have liked some little bit at the end that showed Jacob recovered and in a healthier state, chilling with his sister and drinking/chatting it up. The fact we get no dialog from him was disappointing. The highlight for me once again is the setting. I think their work here with Victorian london ranks up there alongside Novigrad and Vizima for my favorite cities in a game.

www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2017/06/15/this-800-assassins-creed-origins-collectors-edition-is-absurd/#6bdecc67482bSo, this is what you get with "collectors edition": Highly detailed 28.7 inch (73cm) resin statue of Bayek, a protector of Egypt whose personal story will lead to the creation of the Assassin’s Brotherhood; and his eagle, Senu - By Ubicollectibles. The Collector’s Certificate of Authenticity, numbered 1 to 999. An exclusive replica of Bayek’s eagle skull amulet in resin. Two exclusive Assassin’s Creed Origins Steelbooks™. Four large lithographs signed by the Ubisoft Montreal studio artists. Available on Day One: The Assassin’s Creed Origins Gold Edition: The base game, the Digital Deluxe Pack and the Season Pass, which will give players access to all upcoming major expansions and equipment sets. The game’s art book, featuring original designs and concept art created by the Ubisoft Montreal artists. The game’s official soundtrack. A printed version of the game’s hand-drawn world map. Two original art cards. They don't even sound that interesting or I simply don't care (other then maybe the season pass version which you can get a much, much cheaper prices). To put this into perspective you could get two (without shipping/tax) ps4 pro's at $798 or one ps4 pro and six games.

Hand drawn maps are pretty damn expensive. There's a reason you only see a few examples of the true old maps (not facsimiles or reproductions, and DON'T YOU DARE ARGUE with me that the two are the same, because they're not for historical cartography) - they were expensive to make and often had parergon (17th century onwards) or cartouche.
As much as I'll hate myself for it, but Ubisoft might not be going too far. Of course, this is hardly a map of any historical accuracy (I can't speak for Egypt, but some of the earliest detailed maps of central Europe we get are dated 1519, 1569 and thereabouts, so 16th century) so that might diminish it's value in my eyes. Then again, they decide to go for the full deal (including parchment, or, more than unlikely, papyrus - I mean, most people would think parchment is what the ancient Egyptians of that period used, right... Well, I don't know when the game supposedly takes place, so I can't even tell you if parchment should exist back then) it might be a real piece of something.
But we know Ubisoft. It'll probably be printed on modern paper and look a lot like modern maps. In otherwords, they probably want to sell a worthless piece of shite and make a shitton of buck doing so.

Well, it's an ultra-limited edition (999 pieces each of which is numbered) aimed at collectors It's full of original / signed material therefore I suppose that the price can be fair because you are not paying only the price of its contents but their exclusiveness. There are people who are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a limited edition of a book, of a music album, of a pair of shoes of a watch... I suppose the same can also happen for a game. Of course I'll never do it but I will not be surprised if someone else will.

I mean, what do historical drawn maps, where cartographers spent years of their lifetime to go out on ships and painstakingly drew shorelines and such to scale to do with some dude "drawing" the map of a game world in an hour or two which is then printed and stuffed into a box that is sold for a ridiculous price in 2017?

It wouldn't be a Ubisoft game without some sort of spreadsheet because of multiple game versions.
