Thanks for sharing the video, it looks amazing they have really stepped it up from Black Flags wonderful sea adventures. However I am not sure about the whole sea battles things in this game due to the nature of the ships and weapons etc... It kind of feels to me that AC games are getting to big and busy if that makes sense and I'd prefer to concentrate on land or focus on sea not both to each others detriment and if its just adding to the players list of things to do.

I hope these ones are better. It will also be weird playing AC with dialogue choices and romances, I hope it works

As long as the game isn't super buggy I know I will enjoy myself. I don't expect perfection, but they basically added all the stuff I thought was missing in Origins, so I can't help but look forward to discovering how well those things were implemented.

By the end of Origins I actually thought that'd be my last AC game but after seeing the first gameplay etc for Odyssey they'd hooked me again

I know at first I said I would like to see an AC game that explores Medieval Europe and possibly explore a Robin Hood like storyline, but I have a feeling the next logical step for Assassin's Creed based on the current combat systems and whatnot would be Ancient Rome or maybe Feudal Japan. The point is, there are a lot of historical periods the franchise could go to. Hell, if Odyssey can take place before the Assassin Brotherhood even existed, maybe the game could go even further to Mesopatamia and follow up on the lore's first ever assassination. You said Feudal Japan

I do think the game looks fun and I have no doubt it will be worth the money to me and I will enjoy the hell out of it. But if they get too much further from what I loved about AC I may actually have to start passing on future entries and that makes me sad. I've been in love with AC for many years now.

Honestly, Japan is a setting that would work well. The thing is, many people likely have "Assassin Ninja" on their mind, and the popular idea of ninja is total BS. They were spies, more or less like today's spies. The watched and passed messages. Just as Micheal Weston is both awesome and unrealistic, mountain clans of ninja warriors is both cool and total fiction. They could have the Assassins be the source of the myth, though. If they could find the right fit, they could give us a (more secretive) "Sengoku Masyaf" in the form of an isolated village or whatnot. I'm not feenin for a Japanese AC, but it could work. I hope we don't have a Roman game after Odyssey to Cleopatra's Egypt to Peloponnesian War Greece to Rome is just too much of the same, at least in terms of visuals and feel. I wish they'd put a bit more effort into choosing something different than we've ever seen. South Asia has tons of great settings amongst its many nations. The best AC games (Ezio's) were the ones that combined a likable protagonist with an absolutely perfect time period. Equally chaotic periods exist in other times and places. I do wonder if they're afraid that they couldn't sell a game set in Burma, India, Han Dynasty China or wherever. I feel like Revelations/Constantinople was their only real attempt at something a bit more exotic. (Not that Constantinople can be considered too exotic, but at least we saw interesting politics in a non-European setting.) I've been playing Origins again these last few days. I jumped back into my NG+ that I'd dropped in the outskirts of Alexandria. I keep feeling unmotivated to start it each day, but get immersed well enough once I turn it on and start playing. Only the Crocodile remains of the second batch of targets, and I'll be headed to the Faiyum tomorrow. That's my favorite stretch of the story. I took a couple of hours tonight to explore the Isolated Desert much earlier than I usually do. It was quick and fun. I threw in the Qattara Depression for good measure. I play on Nightmare, but this is NG+ with a level 55 Bayek. His Melee Master skill is at 33 points invested, and his Master Hunter is at 20 points. I one-shotted The Galatian tonight with the Serpent Axe and an Overpower Attack. It was unexpected and fun. Archers and fire are the only things I fear, which I suppose makes some sense.

Just because there’s already chronicles that has India and China, I’d like that they give other locations a go. I mean, there are so much history and the world is so vast, they can’t afford an AAA game to everything, so I consider China, India and Russia already “checked”.

I definitely liked Kassandra’s physique from the start. It’s absolutely to be expected from a professional warrior. I’m glad there are no noodle arms for this woman. I think both protagonists look great. I hate Alexios’ hair, but it’s likely appropriate for the time, so it’s a personal nitpick only. He and Kassandra both look great, and are attractive without being so in a silly, inappropriate way, which is cool. My one concern is that Kassandra gets to have her own animations, and doesn’t share Alexios’ manimations. I honestly forgot to watch for it in the latest video. (The player was so terrible, that the ineptitude was all I could see! Jorraptor released some much better footage of his own time with the gorgon/Medusa fight.) No matter how buff and badass, woman typically move differently than men. We have anatomical differences that dictate this. It’s immediately noticeable when we see this general truth “violated”, for lack of a better word. I still don’t love the RP stuff, leveled foes, the fantasy stuff, and much of the new direction. That said, I expect Odyssey to be a fun game. I did see that “Masked Ones” could be the antagonists yet again. I’m hopeful that we can play as a founder* of the Order in this game. Who would better appreciate the value of order, stability and the PoE than a hero of the Peloponessian War who wields a PoE? If the Masked Ones here are a group of child-killing assholes, though, they won’t make a compelling choice. While I liked Bayek’s story, I’d like to see more nuanced antagonists for this story. You can’t have the Order be mustache-twirling murderers in every game. It’s boring when over-used. * Founder isn't exactly what I mean, since we've already been told that Smenkhkare found the Order around 1300 BCE. I guess the option to be "an ancient member of note" is what I want. EDIT: Cleaned up typos and clarified the text, now that not posting from my phone. This site is nearly unusable, in my opinion, from a mobile.

Like you said here, men and woman move differently from each other, and I actually find it refreshing that Ubisoft acknowledge this by having Kassandra's animation reflect her physique instead of the obvious approach of having them both with the SAME animations. I'm personally going to play as Kassandra mainly because for some reason, I find her facial animations work a lot better than Alexios and her voice actor just sounds better for the character. I like the RP stuff because I think it gives the games a bit more of a challenge and an excuse to make the worlds more packed with stuff to do. I especially like the addition of dialogue choices, my favorite RPG mechanic ever. The fantasy stuff I think is carrying it a little far and I really hope Ubisoft doesn't stick with swords and shield settings in future games, otherwise it will become pretty repetitive. I don't think we're playing as a founder of the Order since Kassandra's personality and backstory doesn't fit the Order's need for stability and order (she's a mercenary who can choose to be rebellious if the player decides that.) Then again, we'll see how the story goes. What I do know is that Ubisoft needs to stop with the vengeance stories after Odyssey.

BTW, something weird I just realized. Recently, my family got a chance to visit Greece and Egypt and get to explore some of the ancient ruins and learn a bit about the history. Apparently, my brother's more of a fan of Ancient Greece while I'm more of a fan of Ancient Egypt.

N7Pathfinder, you misunderstood my post. I think it’s important that Kassandra has different walking and running animations than Alexios. There’s nothing worse than a female protagonist with a dude walk, like FemShep has in ME2.

Then again, we'll see how the story goes. What I do know is that Ubisoft needs to stop with the vengeance stories after Odyssey. I didn't get to respond to your full post earlier, but I'm finally able to catch up with it now. The "RP Stuff" I'm not happy to see is leveled enemies and a power wheel, primarily. (The skill trees don't bother me, though I could happily do without.) Unity had minor level-gating, but you could quickly grow past it. It's grown more intrusive and disruptive since then. The power wheel makes sense in the context of the PoE the protagonist wields, but it's still a yet another gamist feature tacked onto the experience. I can already foresee that ridiculous "spartan kick" will be the thing that most annoys me about the game. Ugh, why include that nonsense? I actually advocated a few times over the years for both dialogue choices and arming the protagonist with a significant PoE. Now that I see it happening, I'm not sure how I'll like it. I'd envisioned the PoE as a means to provide all the standard Assassin goodies/capabilities of previous series protagonists to a Bronze Age or earlier protagonist. I didn't really want it to be a gateway to super-herodom, just a means to be recognizably badass in truly ancient times. How the dialogue system works for me will largely depend upon the quality of the writing and voice acting. I'm prepared for some cringeworthy stuff, but expect some of it will be okay. The romances are just too far afield for me. I don't trust anyone but BioWare to do those decently; and even then they are typically kind of silly. At least Odyssey's are essentially transitory flings rather than character defining relationships. That means I'll miss nothing by ignoring most of them (other than gettin dem trophies). The true thinking behind my advocating for dialogue options was that it could grant us some narrative control. It's totally contrary to the concept and lore of experiencing a life already lived, in my opinion; but it could be a lot of fun. They seem to have really put some thought into choice and consequence. I definitely think our misthios could end up on the side of the Order. S/he will understand the power of the PoE as well as anyone by the end. S/he will also have had a front row seat to the senseless cost and chaos of war. "Imagine the good that could be achieved if assorted PoE could be gathered, protected and used properly to prevent war and human excess." That's one possibility, at least. Another obvious possibility is that s/he sees "the danger such items pose in the wrong hands, like those of the Masked D-bags who created this war". If they want to give the player real influence and control, I can think of no better way than in letting us shape such a key thematic decision as Assassin or Templar (using anachronistic names intentionally). It's the only big decision I'd even be interested in making, to be honest. I play AC for historical tourism, parkour, etc... I play BioWare games for roleplaying. I don't doubt that it will be a quality game. I'm not sure I'm thrilled with the new direction, and I fear they might be trying to stuff too many different features into Odyssey. Hopefully, we all enjoy it and get to excitedly anticipate/discuss whatever expansions are eventually added.

Looks good!
And damn... Kassandra's buff. And tall! I never really noticed before, but she looks at least 6' here. Looks good (as does Kassandra ) but not looking forward to those long drawn out fights!!!!! That was lvl 50 vs lvl 50 fight. I imagine its much easier at higher lvls. Much like Origins.

I played Creed 2. I liked it enough that I preordered Creed 3. I stopped playing after an hour or two. Don't know why. Never touched or gave Creed a second thought after that. Last year I saw the previews for Creed Origins. It caught my interest. Not for the game, though it did look good, but the voice of the female character, Aya, who is voiced by the awesome AWR, my avatar. Haven't got the game. Still waiting for the price to drop low enough for me to get it.
With Odyssey, I like what I've seen so far. The two biggest features that standout is the spartan kick and Naval combat. I watched the fight between Kass and Medusa. Not bad. For now, I'm up in the air about preordering the game or waiting until after its been released.

I liked Origins combat/gameplay so I'm definitely pre-ordering.
