Look like they have plenty of fling beside 6 full romance.

Watched some gameplay released on 27th. Cutscenes and people animation (facial, etc) have become better. Combat seems the same as ACO which put me off ACO in the first place; if you stabby stab a guy a few times with a spear in his body (not limbs), you'd want him to go down. However, I like the idea of stealth and a female protag. This vid has made me cautiously optimistic it would be better than ACO. The sea battles definitely add something different but is of course, unrealistic.

With the little I have seen and heard of each, I prefer Alexios at this point. Kassandra looks awesome. I like her design, and the VA seems fine. I like Alexios' design a lot excepting the hair. It's awful! I wish we could change it, but I read a Reddit post confirming this won't be an option. I think I'll be better immersed in the story if I play as Alexios first. I could end up preferring Kassandra in the long run. Time will tell. For my first PT, though, I'm leaning toward Alexios.
#JorRaptor did an hour-long live stream today. He is great for avoiding spoilers, so his stuff is usually pretty safe for all. (It's strictly free roam gameplay.) He answered a lot of questions from viewers. Having seen a lot of gameplay, now, I think I'm going to miss Origins in numerous ways. I don't know Alexios/Kassandra yet, but I think Bayek will prove a stronger character. I also think I'll prefer Origins' gameplay. Odyssey looks almost like Dynasty Warriors, which is not something I want from AC. Odyssey also still looks very buggy. There's no way the Day One patch cleans up all of the glitches I'm seeing. Odyssey should be an engrossing experience, but it's not going to be the experience I really want from AC. I'd love to have a more grounded, less "magical"/action movie experience in a setting less well known in the West.
I hope the game gives me reasons to support Sparta sometimes, beyond the occasional Athenian a-hole governor. Each was plenty horrific by my modern sensibilities, but it would be hard to support Sparta over Athens in any serious fashion. Athens was well ahead of Sparta in most ways that matter for quality of life for the greater number. Again, both were bad by modern standards, but the lesser evil is obvious. I hope the game gives me reasons to think otherwise.
I'm also bummed to see that Sean and Rebecca aren't with us. That was my team. I feel like they're sort of burning all bridges to past games. They'd better create some really enjoyable characters if they want me to care as much about them as the old ones. They'd been with us for years. I'll miss Hastings' sarcasm and dry humor.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the combat in ACO either, the stealth part was good but there were some strange line of sight issues with patrols passing by seeing you even though you were in cover before they were anywhere nearby. I read some stuff earlier on that said that combat had been refined for Odyssey, I hope so because on PC it was for me overly complicated for melee combat. The sea combat in ACO was pretty ho hum I thought, it certainly didn't hold a candle to Black Flags combat but hopefully its better in Odyssey. That being said I am really looking forward to the game, if everything else is good I can live with the finger gymnastic combat.

That being said I am really looking forward to the game, if everything else is good I can live with the finger gymnastic combat. The Odyssey gameplay that I've watched has left me with the impression that it will be faster and less forgiving than Origins'. It's tough to tell, though, because most streamers suck at playing. Jordan (aka JorRaptor) can play, but his style is drastically different than mine, so it's not all that informative. It looks to me that dodging; fast, overpowering offense; and power usage are the keys to Odyssey. I don't mind rolling and dodging in a game like HZD in which Aloy is primarily and archer. I tolerate it in TW because it fits Geralt's novel depiction, even if it's ridiculous. I'll never love it, though. I really grew to like Bayek's shield in Origins. I liked that Bayek could stand and fight in Origins, rather than rolling about like most VG characters. It still feels weird to me that I'm going to be playing a Spartan without a shield. There's really very little reason to not use a shield in most cases; particularly when you have a horse at hand to carry it for you. Why the "Spear of Leonidas"? Why not a nice sword/dagger or a shield? Hell, a short blade or shield makes way more sense as a sidearm than does a spearhead. The answer is probably that they felt a proper melee weapon might preclude their being able to foist upon us a thousand different melee weapons. I miss the simpler days of AC with fewer meaningless options. I'll also spend the entire game wanting to mount that spearhead on a proper haft. Oh, well. No since griping about it. It's not going to change. I hope you like Odyssey's gameplay. I know you didn't love Origins. Odyssey looks like Origins with DAI's power wheel to me. Worst case, bump down the difficulty and enjoy the beautiful world. No sense in needlessly frustrating yourself. With all the gear in this game plus the quasi-crafting, maybe we'll get to discuss a bit of character optimization. I always enjoy those discussions. MEA ran out of new tricks and content far too quickly. At the very least, we can discuss which engravings on which pieces are badass, and where to find cool gear and such. I'm looking forward to the Guided/Exploration toggle. Turning off those hand-holdy icons will allow me to merrily explore every nook and cranny as I like to do with open world games.

I'm looking forward to the Guided/Exploration toggle. Turning off those hand-holdy icons will allow me to merrily explore every nook and cranny as I like to do with open world games. The video I watched didn't go into a lot of detail but they said combat had been simplified, I hope that means I don't have to use every digit on my hand in combat because I am not coordinated in that way and especially if I have to blind find the "F" key or things like that. They also said that you could custom map skills/powers to wherever you wanted which is great but in Origins every time I tried to re-map a key it warned me I could break the game which was rather off putting. So I guess it'll be a wait and see re combat and I just hope there aren't too many of the Medussa type fights they showed actually in the story progression because those OTT long and repetitive fights just frustrate and bore the hell out of me. I am willing to take a hit to the pride and play it on casual in regards to combat and cheese the hell out of everything if the story is good.

I played all of them (abandoned AC3 maybe halfway through) but usually after they went on a cheap sale. This is the first time I preorder an AC game and can't wait to give it a try. I blame Bioware.

Poor AC3 it never gets much love. It was actually the first AC game I played and I loved it and then went on to play all the other AC games before it and after it. I am looking forward to getting the remastered version free with Odyssey as part of the Gold Edition.!!!!! All I hope is that they eliminate one particular QTE but hopefully all of them.

If you’re using uplay, you can use a VPN and connect to a New Zealand server. It’s unlocked to play.

Looks like Ubisoft have put out 2 good Assassin's Creed games (Orgins and Odyssey) since changing it's formula. I was a little skeptical at first, but it looks like it was for the best. When was the last Ubisoft put out really good Assassin's Creed games back to back? The last time for me was Assassin's Creed 2 to Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, until now it's been hit and miss.

When was the last Ubisoft put out really good Assassin's Creed games back to back? The last time for me was Assassin's Creed 2 to Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, until now it's been hit and miss. How Ubisoft will be able to maintain success with this new formula remains to be seen. So far, this more heavily RPG influenced game design seems to work best on ancient historical periods with swords and shields (more or less). This makes me think the next logical place Ubisoft can go is Medieval Europe or something relating to the Vikings. It'll be interesting to see how they would alter the formula slightly if they were to go to a more "modern" period (WW2, Industrial Age America, Civil War America).

I wouldn't trust the reviews too much.
I'm seeing some spoilery videos of the game story on youtube and the viewers are just shredding the writing of the game from left to right. Other then that, I'm not too interested in this game. It's just not Assassins creed anymore. There are no templars and assassins anymore, no more focus on key features such as stealth and assassinations, focusing on open combat instead. And for last, I'm just tired of this Ubisoft formula. Overly big maps filled with busy work can only keep me interested this much.

Someone brought this up on Steam discussion for ACOD and it made me stop to think. What is it?
There's no difference in the core game whatever the price but they're spruced up just to look "special" with the invitation card to get the early dance, for more money.

Holy crap! I never heard of this sequel and for the first time just saw the launch trailer and it blew my mind. Since I am a history buff especially classical times I appreciate the aesthetics. The last AC game I heard of and bought on sale was Origins which I still haven't played yet, but also blew my mind. Which is why I won't be buying Odyssey on launch, I first have to play Origins. Cause I love that ancient Egyptian setting.
