If it is a game I know I will want to play right away I will pre-order. Odyssey is such a game. The big question now of course is Alexios or Cassandra? I'm playing Alexios first, cuz he's hot (apparently the hearteyes emoji doesn't exist anymore?)

Yay downloading Odyssey!!!!!! Hopefully done in about an hour. I have it downloaded since Saturday but I don't think I can play until midnight. 1 hour and 13 mins from now We're in the same time zone, it seems. I downloaded earlier today. I'm trying to decide whether to ruin my night's sleep by playing at midnight, or just wait until tomorrow. I have family in from out of town, and my gaming has been badly impacted. I'm thinking I might play it tonight and make up the sleep via naps tomorrow. I'm leaning toward Alexios. Kassandra has a great face, great hair and a nice voice. Alexios has great stubble and looks better in most of the armor. I also think I'll be more into a PT as a man for my first time through the game. I'm sure I'll like Kassandra one way or the other, but I'm definitely leaning Alexios.

So it looks like bugs and filler are the low points, which is what I expected. But overall, it's getting really good reviews. I just wanted to thank you for sharing these and complement your choice of videos. These guys both gave quality reviews. (I like SkillUp's solo vids, and hate his channel with his brother.) Great vids with specific, balanced praise and criticism. I enjoyed watching these as I burned minutes until I could finally play (almost there, now).

Played for about 4-5 hours last night. Was enough to reach the ship roaming part. Took my sweet time exploring the tutorial island and getting the feel for the game. It is like Origins in many aspects naturally. But it also has a unique charm of it's own.
The game is more demanding on my hardware compared to Origins. Origins is benchmarking at about 80 FPS and running close to and mostly above that everywhere except the busy spots like Alexandria. Odyssey benches at 58 FPS and runned pretty close to that and up to 70+ FPS in the starting area. Same settings for both game's - 1440p and everything maxed out. Expecting 30 FPS in big cities. Hoping for some optimization to come because Odyssey looks pretty damn good and I am not willing to lower any graphic option 😍
Noticed one annoying glitch so far. A cutscene went to a white screen and had to guess what was happening just from the voices. It was a dramatic moment apoarently and I am not sure yet if it was a glitch though or some sort of stupid artistic approach.
Went with Kassandra. RPing her as a shadow assassin, smart, secretive and avoiding open combat as much as possible. It's a chore though. Hiding all those bodies. Made me feel like a construction worker at some point. And can't force myself to harm the guard dogs. Or their masters. Went out of my way to allow them to patrol in peace. They probably couldn't figure out why the fotress is getting more deserted each time they complete a patrol round.
The initial voice acting almost made me reroll to Aleksios. It was stiff and forced. It got quite better though as I played ahead (or maybe I got used to it).
Went exploring as soon as I could, ignoring quests. It's MY island after all. After I nicked everything everywhere I started talking to people. I like how the game recognizes you already have the quest item in the inventory. It's fun to imagine that when a quest NPC cries for his lost stuff Kassandra just points to the caravan of carts behind her that hold the possessions of the entire island and asks "Can you recognize yours, ma'am?"

Got about 3 hrs in so far and feel like I have done very little, a few quests and some exploring. Combat seems better, Parry works which is great, couldn't master it in Origins. No major glitches or bugs for me but the quest marker seems to disappear sometimes and the marker for things to loot is ridiculously small.

General advisory to keep it spoiler-free in here please, as some will not get to this game weeks or months after launch. Screenshots are nice, but please keep surprises and plot-related characters out of them. Thanks.
And I'll start with a non-spoilery image, the game looks lovely...
Additional: I remapped to the 'Alternate controls' almost immediately as I prefer Xbox buttons to bumpers for attacking/dodging. And I'm running on 'Exploration mode' where you don't get quest markers, but do get headed in the right direction.

I played almost 6 hours when I should've been sleeping. I like it so far. I'll share some observations, and will certainly forget a few more.
I chose Alexios, and am pleased with the choice. He's dirt broke and hilarious. I love it. (I'm sure Kassandra is largely the same, just with a different VA and look.) I only had the briefest regret in choosing him the first time he dove underwater and I was treated to a view of his coin purse. 😆 Now, it's just hilarious every time. At least I won't have to feel like a creeper if my mother-in-law walks in and sees it. I'd feel a bit odd if she came in and saw Kassandra's underwater bits.
Spears work like spears! Stabbity-stab! Swords are good, and daggers are very fast! I briefly used a heavy blade, but not long enough to form an opinion. (I loved them in Origins.) I sort of miss the shield, but the new defensive counter is ridiculously easy, so it's not a matter of effectiveness. I'm just used to having it after multiple Origins PTs.
I'm not a big fan of the power wheels, to be honest. It's early, but I doubt I'll ever like them. I think it's a poor design choice, and one that won't be repeated.
There have been awkwardly written lines, here and there, but the RPG elements are solid so far. I've RPed Alexios as a decent dude, so far. He's unfolding as a tough, but good-hearted dude in the early stages. Who knows what lies ahead, though?
I like the NPCs so far. I've just left Kephalonia, so I haven't met many. The ones I have met range between good and great. The game has made me laugh aloud several times without being cheesy or comedic in focus.
I should be trying to get some sleep, but I may just fire it up and continue a bit further. I have a vessel and the freedom to travel, now. I'm also tempted to start another save just to see and hear Kassandra. The early game has me liking Alexios much better than I'd feared. I really liked Bayek and had my doubts as to whether the siblings could measure up in likability. So far so good. Alexios seems awesome. This team developed Syndicate. I hated many of their design choices, but the characters and story writing was excellent. If Alexios and Kassandra are as likable as Jacob and Evie were, that will be amazing. (PSA: No, you don't see both Odyssey siblings in the same way we did with Jacob and Evie.)

Finally, time to play. I am thankful Ubisoft made AC an RPG. I do understand other people do not think that the RPG route was the route to go. Well, anyway I'm off for a few weeks at least....

Out of curiosity, is their a day 1 patch? If so how big?
I'm hoping there won't be one and if there is, I hope it's small so that I can play as quick as possible when I get off work.
Note I'll be playing on the XBX.
It's odd I'm actually excited for an AC game since black flag, I really don't like the franchise but with this being Greek themed and supposedly RPG based, I'm excited to try it out 😊

Started up a bit last night and really enjoying it. Combat feels great, and the new dialogue and choice stuff is nice. Also I did notice in one quest when told to approach it a certain way it did actually have a dif outcome when I went back to complete when I did it differently so that was neat. I'm going with Kassandra first to mix it up from the usual.

A tad too much in your face and I thought oh its just until she gets some better armour but no that didn't cover her modesty much either. I have decided to use the Spear as well, I loved it in Unity and it is proving fun so far even though I am not that adept at melee combat. The game appears like Origins in being brutal if you try and fight anything 3 levels above your level. Happened upon one of the mercenaries who 3 shot me with his bow. I had the last laugh, respawned and saw him running the loop he travels chasing his horse and after 2 minutes of watching he was still chasing it. .

Let's get it on... Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has made the transition to a full-fledged RPG, and with that comes the ability to sleep with a bunch of people.
A BUNCH OF PEOPLE, you guys.
We thought we’d break it all down, mostly spoiler-free mind you, so you can think about how you’ll plan your conquests (or lack thereof; we’re not judging).
First off, we confirmed back at E3 2018 that Alexios and Kassandra can swing however they’d like, be it as a heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or asexual/celibate. That remains true today. If you see a heart icon beside a dialogue option with a character, that’s your tell that you can romance him or her. Select that dialogue option and away you go!
Second, romancing comes through dialog options and you do have second-chance functionality that essentially makes you confirm the romance before it actually happens. You can’t accidentally sleep with someone.
That’s it, really — apart from this one last spoiler-filled tidbit that you may want to avoid. It’s below.
Still here? Good! Romancing is pretty tame compared to the likes of Mass Effect — after initiating a romance, you’ll see a kiss before the game fades to black. Sorry, pervs.linkWell, that's depressing. Earlier there was an article that mentioned Asexual relationships.

That's surprising since the Origins team had no issues showing nudity. The brothels had some randy stuff painted on the walls as well.
Kind of a painful wait till Friday, especially since I just got a new monitor.

I was at the top of a lookout and as he reached the top of the ladder hit him with a melee attack and he lost 75% of his health falling off.

I feel like there should be a minus stealth stats for certian armor types, because I feel like I should be spotted a mile away with the gear I'm using.
