Been looking forward to this one. Looks good in 4k HDR. Went with the PC-version to get the most out of my 78". That is an impressive character model...

Let's get it on... Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has made the transition to a full-fledged RPG, and with that comes the ability to sleep with a bunch of people.
A BUNCH OF PEOPLE, you guys.
We thought we’d break it all down, mostly spoiler-free mind you, so you can think about how you’ll plan your conquests (or lack thereof; we’re not judging).
First off, we confirmed back at E3 2018 that Alexios and Kassandra can swing however they’d like, be it as a heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or asexual/celibate. That remains true today. If you see a heart icon beside a dialogue option with a character, that’s your tell that you can romance him or her. Select that dialogue option and away you go!
Second, romancing comes through dialog options and you do have second-chance functionality that essentially makes you confirm the romance before it actually happens. You can’t accidentally sleep with someone.
That’s it, really — apart from this one last spoiler-filled tidbit that you may want to avoid. It’s below.
Still here? Good! Romancing is pretty tame compared to the likes of Mass Effect — after initiating a romance, you’ll see a kiss before the game fades to black. Sorry, pervs.linkWell, that's depressing. Earlier there was an article that mentioned Asexual relationships. A/ I don't consider myself a perv. B/ The way they implemented so-called romanced they just could have left it out. C/ This is nothing but pointless bunny rabit boinking.
D/ If this is todays standard of implementing romances I don't understand what all the hubbub was about in Witcher 1.

One of the best things in Odyssey is that almost all quests objectives already exist. I could complete at least some timed quests before receive them and the dialogue shows it. And I think that I skipped some parts of one main quest.
I can explore to my heart’s content.

I haven't got the game yet. Not sure when. From the posts I've read, the game seems to be ok. Hopefully when I get the game, bugs, if there are any, are fixed.

I put about 3-4 hours into it yesterday and I'm not impressed :/ still better than probably all AC games (gotta remember I'm not a big fan of the franchise). The story serves no point at the start and from what I've heard, it doesn't pick up till 15-20 hours in and I say fuck that. It shouldn't take that long to get to the good stuff. I'll try more today and see if it picks up.
The two things I'll give it however are 1. The game looks gorgeous and 2. Combat is alright, dodging setup is a little iffy and assassination input can take a second or two before the game registers it, it sucks hitting Y only to have the enemy call you out before your controller listens....

Have to give props to Ubisoft for having that kind extra detail on two fast travel points... if you know what I mean.

Do choices have consequences? Yes, they do, well done Ubisoft... No kidding. I am sad for what I did to a certain area, but honestly I really wanted to see if my "good deed-bad choice" will come back to bite me. And it did hours later and it was a depressing sight.

Well, the whole starting island got the plague because I was too soft hearted and spared a sick family. When I got back to the island all the populated areas were in black smoke, crows and barely any people. And that was a side quest you can completely skip. I hope there are more such quests down the line.

I played a couple more hours last night. I'm still making slow progress with house guests in residence.
I'm not loving combat. It feels less solid than Origins', if that makes sense. I like the lighter, freer feel of Odyssey (a la Unity) during traversal. I don't like it in combat. Origins' combat felt more solid to me. Weapons felt like they were actually connecting. (It's hard for me to put into words with an F-ing TV blaring in the background. Ugh. Guests.) I'm also not pleased with how power-dependent combat is. If you want to actually kill anything, you have to spam powers. I guess I should've expected this, but it's annoying. I want headshots to kill because they're headshots, not because I lined up a headshot and spent Adrenaline to temporarily boost my ranger damage. It feels so artificial and silly.
I also hate the constant rotation of shitty gear. I hate this mechanic in RPGs, and gate that it's somehow come to be considered an "RPG mechanic". That AC devs would choose to make inventory management BS a core part of a modern game is very frustrating. I just got my first piece of Legendary gear (bracers) from a merc, so maybe I'll just upgrade those periodically. Some of the armors look awesome, because they're rough and realistic. Nothing lasts long, though, because everything has crappy stats and is immediately upstaged in a dramatic manner by an equally shitty, but higher level, piece. Ugh. I hate the revolving gear treadmill.
On the positive side, the story is solid do far. I'm engaged in a lot of typical Ubisoft filler, but that's par for the course. If it didn't entertain me, I'd have jumped ship a decade ago. The core narrative threads seem like they'll be engaging enough.
So, to this point, I think Origins both looks and plays better. I'm still early in the game, though, and wouldn't be surprised if my perceptions completely changed as I adapt and discover more of this game.

Haha. I totally expected this, as you seemingly did as well. (I made a different choice.) I'm pleased to see that real world logic apllied in this case. I like games in which real world logic applies. I'm more interested in seeing multiple outcomes if and when they follow reasonable logic.

So your choices are either murder a family or let the island die? Not exactly. Priests have burnt the village and a single family remains. They appeal to you, "We aren't even that sick. We could get better." You can choose to intercede, or let the priests do their job. It's a harsh, "greater good" type of choice. It was a sad thing, but I knew what would happen and chose not to intercede. There's a chance to discuss the choice afterward with an NPC. It was pretty well done.
I think it's good to have a choice like this every once in a while if you're trying to portray a historical setting. The world still sucks even now for many, but it was way worse for everyone before 20C medicine and antibiotics. I'm not sure how harshly this world will be conveyed, since I'm still early in the game. I know that I don't anticipate TW3's grim realism. I could go for the typical AC tone leavened with the occasional tough decision.

saandrig is that quest the one you do for Phoebe I think called "Blood Fever"? Well nuts I never got to have the conversation with the priest as I killed the guards from range as they showed as enemies, so all I did was speak to the family and told them to keep their money. I think that was one of the last missions I did yesterday will see how far back I have to go to re do it.

I stuffed this quest up as the priest and guards showed as enemies so I never spoke to them as I attacked from range. Just spoke to the family didn't even realise they were sick and sent them on their way with their money It may well have been the last mission I did so will see if I can go back to an earlier save.

Element Zero I am actually enjoying the combat EXCEPT for not being able to one shot enemies with a headshot, an arrow between the eye is a death shot not something someone shrugs off. My other annoyance is that the assassination button doesn't always seem to work and it sometimes works but the NPC reacts as if they have seen you and then dies. It just feels off!!!!!
I am love the power that lets you throw Leonidas spear to assassinate someone but the cinematic is a bit immersion breaking and weird.
Re the armour I found a set I liked in the store and bought it with Uplay Credits and my plan is to just wear that all game and keep upgrading it unless something really great falls into my hands.
