Jaal is mostly a teen romance, until you consummate. Then you get dirty talk! What I love about it, is both he and Sara are all awkward and youthful when dancing around their feelings, but once they finally confess and make love, they are so comfortable with each other and more mature afterward. They grew together. It's so natural! I dig it. I'm totally in love with Reyes right now but I'm really hoping Jaal will come in as a close second or tied. I love his character much more than I expected so I'm hoping his romance is up my alley. It's not for everyone, but for me, I found Jaal to be pretty damn perfect for Sara. It makes sense he was her LI in the official trailer too. I don't like Reyes as a romance (not my type I mean), but him and Sara also look good, but I feel that one needs to be expanded. Jaal's is so plot-heavy it's hard to compare, so I am hoping we see more of Reyes in upcoming DLC. Even when not romancing him, I can tell he wants my Sara haha |

And it works both ways for bisexual guys too. You get, "Oh he had a girlfriend in the past? Then he's definitely straight." and you get, "Oh, he's shown any interest in guys what-so-ever? Must be a closet case." The VA's often record the lines acontextually. They often don't know what lines go with what other lines. So, if I were a VA and recorded a bunch of acontextual lines and one of them said, "I love you too Jaal", I'd probably assume that Jaal was romanceable. That being said, Tom never said that Jaal was bisexual. He did a bunch of <wink, wink, nudge, nudge> stuff and never confirmed or denied anything. It's part of the accusations of "queerbaiting". Yeah, Taylorson never said he was bi pre-release. I'm petty sure though that he was just as confused as others post-release when Jaal was revealed to be only for Sara. Yeah, Taylorson never said he was bi pre-release. I'm petty sure though that he was just as confused as others post-release when Jaal was revealed to be only for Sara. I don't think Taylorson ever intentionally meant to queerbait anyone, though. Think he was just trying to keep hope alive for some. It means Jaal was likely attempted to be written bi, but it didn't work out, so they made him for Sara only. I still say a DLC with a new romance for Scott would work, but not the main game itself. |

I think the bigger issue here isn't that Jaal was straight. It's that there is NO SQUADMATE AVAILABLE FOR M/M ROMANCE.
That is the real problem. Liam or Jaal would have been acceptable but everyone put their hopes on Jaal because his sexuality was leaked last.
I don't understand how ANYONE ELSE doesn't understand why people would be upset with bioware for excluding gay men. Reyes is great but his arc is like what 10-15 minutes... and I won't even go into what a disaster the Gil romance is.
Squadmates are typically the longer and better romances. This is why again and again I say that I prefer the player-sexual model that works well for other games like Fall Out. Nobody cares about it! No one is in an uproar because you can screw Paladin Danse as a dude. "Representation matters..." Okay but its a game and I want some options in the romance department. The more quality ones the better.
and now I am ranting...
Basically I wish Bioware would focus more on the squadmate romance arcs that most people care more about. No more Keris or Chambers or Traynors. Every once in awhile you get a good one... but overall I hate them.

I was in total denial. And now I get to listen to the Bi hate constantly. Its really awesome all the fanboy hate. If a character isn't "promiscuous" like Zevran or Isabella or an "genderless" asari no one can understand that BISEXUAL means sexually attracted to both genders. :poop: "I don't know she seems straight to me because X Y Z" "BUT they had a romance with someone of the opposite gender before..." The best defense is actually to corner them online in public and demand to know why sex with aliens is wirthy of a hashtag. Tag their friends. Add a trending hashtag.
Demand they attach a photo of thir actual face to their demands for gay alien sex.
I tagged one of their mothers on fb worked a treat. These people arent here for representation theyre here to get gay laid by an alien and most of them dont want anyone to know.
It works well.

So much truth in these words. I remember how I was rooting for Liam the first time I saw him, and how I left the ship because of the leak and Jaal came. And then nothing. I'm glad for those who are happy with Reyes and Gil, but without a squadmate, damn JUST ONE squadmate, we are not asking for three or two like other demographics, I'm out, sorry Bioware. Yep. I so get it. I am usually upset because in almost every Bioware game I get one squademate for F/F. Andromeda and DA2 are the only times I even had a choice in squadmates. The best defense is actually to corner them online in public and demand to know why sex with aliens is wirthy of a hashtag. Tag their friends. Add a trending hashtag.
